Takes a few months to figure things out plus a lot of internet research.

Don't forget game engine, tech, and tools.
Started from the ground, with 3 guys in a garage.
If money talks, they must be doing something right, to have us throw more at it.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's split between two games because while they are different games, they share A LOT. Almost all 3D modeling is shared between games, from ships to weapons to characters and armor... things like game mechanics, fps gameplay, HUD, inventory, looting... flight models, sound effects, so on and so forth.
Calling them 2 games isn't quite right because they share so much that they are almost the same game, just one is a singleplayer story game, the other is an MMO. A good 90% of things developed for Squadron 42 are also developed for, and used in Star Citizen.
My point is, it's not a clear cut 700 million split between two games. Because whatever money is spent developing content for SQ42, 90% of it is also used in SC.

Wish i knew how to play this damn game. It doesnt explain shit, just figure it out. For a almost billion dollar game youd think theyd want some sort of ease of use.

Players have created a ton of videos and websites to help in playing this game. If you have any questions or need assistance the community is always happy to help. Simply ask in global chat and people will race to your aid.

Game literally has a tutorial, and constantly has buttons on screen telling you what they do. If you need help, ask in chat, it's an MMO... you are gonna have to be social. And if that fails, go watch RUclips.

Hate to tell you, the game is in Alpha. If you aren't willing to actually try and learn and expect perfection... don't buy into an Alpha.

I was looking for this ship on the website. $175. I'll just grind away and buy this ship in game for 2.5 million credits or whatever it is now, lol. I just got this game for $75 a few days ago with the Avenger Titan, and that's enough for me right now. Might get a Hoverquad to put in the cargo hold and call it good lol.

Thats fair! I ended up trying the Drake Cutlass out and i like it better than the Anvil Valkyrie. I also did some looking and will probably pick up one called the “reliant kore” just because of how cool it looks lol

@@khaos02delta I'd recommend waiting until the next time you can rent all the ships in game and trying out the Reliant then. I can count the number of times i've seen any of the ships in that series on one hand, and i've been playing some three or four years now. Apparently there is (or was) an issue where, due to how the ship is configured you cannot leave the area where the bed is if you log out in it because that part of the ship is closed off while landed.

Obviously you don't know what you're talking about, 700 million split between two games SQ42 and Star Citizen with SQ42 as the focus, and the game has not been in development for 14 years they didn't even have studios when the Kick Starter began in late 2012.

Fortnite brought 30 Billion in one year. Only reason I say that is to put things into perspective.

@@rooster1012According to Roberts’ 2014 CitizenCon speech, pre-production began in 2010. Production itself started in 2011 according to a 2012 Interview with Chris Roberts. That is 14 to 13 years of development depending on how you count it.

@@rooster1012 What am I missing here? Why are you so angry?
First off yes, the game has been in development for 14 years...
Second, you do realize you and the OP agree, right? He was defending the game, pointing out that it's not like this game was immediately given a 700 million dollar budget and told to make the game. And games like Spiderman which are MUCH smaller in scope still cost like 300 mil to make... he's literally defending the game, so get off his ass.
Third, if you want to say angry things like "Obviously you don't know what you're talking about" why don't we talk about how SQ42 and SC share 90% of their assets to the point that if something is developed for SQ42, it is almost certainly put into SC. 3D assets, like ships, weapons, armor, characters and even the character creator, sound effects, flight models, fps combat, looting, inventory management... If it's not voice acting or a special in-game location... then it is developed for SQ42, and then put into Star Citizen.
And it's not like it costs them extra to implement it into SC after it has been developed for SQ42 so let's not pretend like they are developing two completely separate games on a single budget, because the MASSIVE majority of things they create for one game, are used in the other.
