A year ago the first article on the google search page was a review conducted after hiking 20 miles or so in Washington State and a lug came off the shoes. I wonder how many have had that problem with these shoes. I found the quantum grip compound to be fairly durable and always grippy.
I love these shoes too. I put about 1800 miles on my Merrells. The outsoles aren’t too durable and I’ve used Shoo Goo to keep these going longer. The uppers still haven’t torn. Waterproofing isn’t that great anymore. Given that most people say a shoe should last for 350-500 miles, these have outlasted any other hiking shoe I’ve owned and far exceeded my expectations. Just bought a new pair.
I finally retired mine. I had zero issues with the soles other than just wearing down. I have an outside heel strike and after a while it’s too much so I have to change shoes.
Just retired mine, only because the shoe was losing its shape. No issues with the uppers, best shoes I’ve ever owned. I managed to find another pair. Don’t usually buy the same pair twice, but they are that good. I live in BC so mine are GTX
My MQM Flex is still holding up strong a year later as well. Only one tiny piece of a lug chipped off but no big deal.
