      That brethren guy gave me a headache with his logic textbook word salad.
      Not sure what he was trying to insinuate except that if it can be imagined, and there are no internal contradictions, then it is possible. So what? Is he trying to apply it to the concept of God and conclude that God is possible? Atheists have no issue with that conclusion. It is just that they say that there isn't enough evidence yet, which therefore does not make it real. I don't think any atheist says that the concept of God is impossible. To me, this is the essence of his argument and the rebuttal, cut and dried.
      All the nonsense about essence, contingency, blah, blah, blah was an utter waste of time, to be fair, from both sides

      It was the same with me. I used to listen to a guy named Neeraj Atri (who was a kattar Hindu) a lot on the history of Islam, it was around 4 years ago and once he said something like this (I don't remember exactly) "Allah, joki poore universe ka creator hai, ek chhoti si galaxy ke ek chhote se tare Suraj ke charo or ghomne vale ek chhote se grah ke ek chhote se registan ke ek chhote se shahr me rahne vale Muhammad ki har samay dekhbhal karta hai." • @RohanRajadhyaksha
      @RohanRajadhyaksha 6 дней назад

      Yes, it was a fun debate.
      But Vimoh made some factual errors in his arguments. For example, saying that we believe in axioms because they are proven. By definition, axioms are self evident truths from which the rest of the field is derived. Secondly, saying that 2+2=4 is an axiom is wrong. While we take it to be true, it actually was derived from first principles (or axioms) by Whitehead and Bertrand Russell in their seminal opus Principia Mathematica.
      Finally, there was no reason to allow the argument that cancer is caused by environmental factors that humans introduced. Cancer has been around since very early days, ever since multicellular organisms started crawling the earth.
      Just wanted to call out some facts which would help make the arguments shorter and stronger.

    Regarding the first call on how consciousness can come out of something material: I think it is because of the complex chemistry of different kinds of materials that brings about consciousness. The caller often isolates concepts like the eye and the photon. But consciousness is all of those things taken together. Consciousness is thinking of the brain, all of Senses and their perceptions... It is a system of different processes running together.

    A bit about the suppossed incorruptibility of the Quranic text over the centuries.....
    Two examples might suffice.
    Shabir Ally, a much respected mainstream Islamic scholar from Toronto, someone who has debated David Wood multiple times about Islam : " The idea that everything in the Quran has been preserved dot for dot letter for letter is not actually a scholarly way of thinking."
    And then there is Yasir Qadhi, the dean of The Islamic Seminary of America and resident scholar of the East Plano Islamic Center in Plano, Texas about the perfect preservation of Quran- " One of the most difficult topics (faced by the Islamic scholars) are the concepts of Ahruf and Qirat."
    And both relate directly to the supposed perfect preservation illusion. He further goes on to add that these problems were well known to Western scholars for the last 100 years and that the Eastern scholars are yet ignorant of the same.
    The problem of Ahruf especially is so central, that if accepted by mainstream Islam it literally would be the deathknell of Islam as a claimed coherent, unchanging message from God himself. And that is because the original Quran as claimed, was revealed to Mohammed IN SEVEN DIFFERENT AHRUFs variously meant as styles/ways/forms /modes. And this multiplicity of the Quranic text was exactly the reason why Usman had to destroy all the earlier divergent copies of the Quran making way for the standardized Usmani version.
    So much for eternal preservation.

    • @vimohlive
      @vimohlive  7 месяцев назад +5

      Yes. I had a longish conversation with Pranav about this the other day. The point I was making here is that aside from being axiomatically true, we can ALSO test 2+2 and find that the answer is NOT 5.

    • @prasannavenkatesan4678
      @prasannavenkatesan4678 7 месяцев назад

      @@vimohlive There are different axiomatic systems one can work with when it comes to modern mathematics, mathematicians generally use ZFC axioms. Coming to your point, in such a system 2+2=4 is a theorem, not an axiom. You can test if 2 apples and 2 apples give you 4 apples, but you cannot test if 2+2=4, numbers exist only in our minds and not *necessarily in our universe.

    33:41 If material cannot generate consciousness, why do people go unconscious when they get bonked in the head a little too hard?
    2:04:05 Dragon is a fictional amalgamation of raptors, reptiles and other beasts, perhaps also inspired by archaic fossil findings of prehistoric animals. The human mind creates fiction based on things that already exist, therefore it is about as hard to conceive of dragons, as it is to conceive of a chimera with a lion's body, bat wings, and a scorpion's tail; or maybe a mermaid, which is the torso of a woman on a fish's butt, allegedly inspired by sightings of manatees.
    Similarly, one can conceive of a god by combining the qualities of human consciousness with natural forces, to create a supernatural being to explain the existence and governance of real phenomena - an entity that doesn't exist in the natural world, but is still conceivable in one's mind, and can be represented through storytelling, literature, art, and music. One can conceive of an afterlife, by combining the reality of death with the pain of losing someone, and the desire of eternal life. You can split that into heaven and hell, by adding in the desire for society to follow a moral code, hence creating a fictional magic system, where you get rewarded for following that code, and punished for deviance.
    "Concieving" of something isn't extraordinary. Conjuring stories about such conceptions isn't extraordinary either. But just because you can conceive of something, doesn't make it REAL. Without proof of its existence, it is merely the human imagination breaking down reality into concepts, and playing building blocks with them in the mental realm. To prove otherwise, you need EVIDENCE of the exact thing that you're claiming. Else you're just spinning stories.

      By yr first logic

    • @metalman4393
      @metalman4393 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@mr.gamerkabir8142 What does the existence of material consciousness have to do with our capability of creating conscious robots?
      Clearly there's a difference in materials there. The fluid complexity of an organic creature is not the same as the solid mechanical components used to create artificial intelligence. One runs on a manifold of chemical reactions, while the other runs purely on electric protocols.
      My logic doesn't necessitate what you said. As to why we haven't been able to do it yet, here's some perspective: We are limited in the complexity we can achieve in creating the hardware of a computer processor, by the wavelength of light that we use to manufacture the microscopic intricacies of the component, through photochemical processes. Relatively, the gap between RNA nucleotides in a strand of DNA is over a thousand times less than the wavelength of violet light. It's incredibly difficult, if not impossible for us to manufacture things at an atomic scale, as nature has done through sheer chaos.
      The only reason to attribute this natural complexity to "god" is when you assume that it was consciously manufactured, for which there is no evidence; as opposed to conscious life being a property arising from the elements that make up reality itself, for which there IS evidence.

    There is a difference between theoretical impossibility and physical world impossibility. In theory we assume frictionless surfaces (as there is not any contradiction in assuming) but we still can't assert that frictionless surfaces are possible in the physical world or in reality. What we can say is that we don't know. (In this example we can actually conclude that they frictionless surfaces are impossible cuz we have enough knowledge about it but in the case of the universe or god we don't)
    The same is applicable for absolute vacuum.
