My 2 favorite things about this part of the film: 1) Hellboy's insecurities shine here as even though there were those people all cheering for and asking to talk with him, he let the words of two random deadbeats weigh him down. As someone who's struggling with insecurities myself, the negativy bias is VERY rough and often even the best of things get played down because of one random negative thing. 2) I absolutely LOVE how Hellboy was totally unfased by so much carnage (the corpses whan he first met Samael in the first hellboy film), but YOU DON'T MESS WITH CATS around him!
I feel that cats are probably the animal that Hellboy relates to the most out of anything. So when he sees them in danger, he sees himself and possibly others like him in that same situation and therefore jumps into action. Could be a stretch tho

Those movies were funny and dramatic in a very natural way, without being pretentious and intrusive. Guess the whole packet of writing, acting and directing was pure inspiration - that´s how good blockbusters are made.
Fun detail, the effects artists cared enough to have Hellboy's tail articulate/move like a tail would. Not just swing back and forth with his hip movement. Example during the walk into the troll market through the big meat freezer door. If you watch his tail, it actually has character while it's just in the background. The artists had to worry about Krauss effects but still took the time for the background. Pretty impressive
Indeed, the colors & cinematography also look good. There was something about the Harbour Hellboy movie version that did not seem polished to me compared to this del Toro version.
Always felt Hellboy II was heavily underrated and knew without a shadow of a doubt the 2019 Hellboy would be a total flop. Sure wish we could've been given Hellboy III instead.
