There is always an emotion, a commitment when shooting film. There is no way to emulate that sense of excitement when shooting digital. When we shoot digital, we get the instant gratification, but we don’t get that sense of fully creating something. Rock on dude. Nailed the experience. Nice photos!
Agreed! Nothing will beat it. But would love for it to get close 😂 imagine a true XPan digital sensor.. would be pretty magical.
@@cammackey That would be incredible. Its possible just cost prohibitive. The failure rate of a sensor that large would be huge. Eventually, we’ll get good enough to create them.
You know when it is going to be a fire video when it's widescreen like this....
I was heavily inspired Ultra Panavision 70!
The production value on these videos lately is CRAZY… been following you for awhile and my goodness… better than most movies I come across!!
Love this. 🔥🔥🔥 was the bts handheld. Shots were smooth! Just watched to the end. No wonder the shots were smooth! Loved the look.
i love that 907 dream camera , just the fact that it makes you slow down and love that xpan look.
This is basically a Shortfilm Review. I had to switch to my Tv to see all the widescreen anamorphic goodness...
I love hearing that! More of this coming in 2025. If we’re gonna review paint brushes, we might as well paint.
Another 907x and xpan content from cammackey LETS GOO
Oh my goodness 📸🔥😮💨
I love this aspect ratio on my Lumix S1 and the 2:1 as well. The thing that I love about it for photos is that it reminds me of film, especially, in black and white. Great video and love your channel. Cheers!
I love how your videos do not look like videos, they are more like motionpictures/short films 😍📽🎞
So cool man! The videos just keep getting better and better! 🎞
Once you go XPan you change as a person, nothing is ever the same again.
I had that when I got a Kodak Aero Ektar and put it on a 4x5 camera :P
After giving us amazing videos every week, you end the year with the most epic video of 2024! (Sorry for picking favourites yesterday, should've known you were busy). Just insane how many gorgeous frames there are in this video. And the prints look fantastic.
Haha thank you man!!!! I know i read your comment the other day and was like “let’s see if this one tops it!” Hahah
@cammackey Hahaha, yes, this is now on top of the list! You simply pulled an amazing stunt and ended the year with IMAX production value and also made callbacks to so many other videos of the year, as well as returning with Sedona to the ashes of big forest fire. Empowering melancholy in every shot and a truly epic narrative arc.
@ 🥲🥲🥲 I appreciate all the support man. Hope to keep you tuned in for 2025!!!!
Absolutely unreal work on this man. So well done! 👏🏼
love your channel man, I went crazy and got the 907 x no buyers remorse just bliss, never looked back.
Dude it’s suck an amazing camera. Like one of those cameras that in 10-30 years people will still talk about.
The photos are amazing, but the video is absolutely gorgeous! we'd love to see more of your updated workflows for color grading as well as capture.
Coming in 2025!!!
Hearing you talk about that feeling-what it’s like to hold that special camera with a unique lens combo-I feel so understood right now 🥹
Now the question is.. what camera lens combos do that for you and your goat work!!!
The intergenerational design language is what makes me smile the most. My old 500cm is smiling at the 907 i opted at launch for the x2d but the 907 is sweet. Both are sooo portable. Great content bro.
Yeah I’m still looking to pick up a 500cm!!!
Cam, your expertise with cameras and systems is absolutely next level, and it's always inspiring to see you work with such iconic gear like the X-Pan and the Hasselblad. I noticed that some of the film shots appear a bit overexposed on my screen-though standing in front of the prints might tell a different story. On the other hand, Jericho's footage on the DJI 4D looks absolutely stunning!
Paul
Are you saying the color film or the infrared film? How I meter (I cut it out of the video cause it’s slow) is I meter for the sky, then the shadows, then I split the exposure reading. Depending if my frame has more sky or foreground, I will favor one or the other. These shots were about the aftermath of the fire rather the sky.. while also shooting in just Cali winter hard sun. So don’t see any other way of exposing. I have zero experience with infared tho. So the box said 200iso, so I think I metered everything at 160 to give me some room
@@cammackey I went back to review the video, and it’s the infrared shot with what looks like a riverbed-around the 6:37 mark-that appeared a bit bright on my screen. That said, it doesn’t seem technically overexposed, as far as I can tell. I think it just stood out for me because it’s quite different from the DJI footage.
I also noticed that the shots of "random things" (I believe that’s what you called them) looked quite high-key when viewed digitally on the screen. From experience, I’ve seen how photos that appear bright on a screen often look more balanced when printed. I work with a client who prints my photos in their magazine, and I tend to push the brightness on my computer. Yet, when they’re printed, they look “normal.”
Perhaps I need to look at more infrared photos to develop a better understanding before commenting again. Your work consistently inspires me, and I appreciate how much thought and care you put into every frame.
love this one dude. I think I better go shoot a roll in the xpan tonight
oh god I just panicked when you picked up the TX and the lens cap was still on behind the hood. I messed up so many shots in my first couple rolls cause I forgot about the lens cap, and now I'm super sensitive to it 😅
Oh bro mine won’t fire unless the cap is off!!!
“The photos get better later, I promise” 😂 you are nuts my friend!
The shots from the first day were garbage haha
The main feature of an XPan to me was always that it let you go to ultra wide angles, not just a wide (narrow?) aspect. You could replicate that with the 20-35mm lens Hasselblad makes for the X2D. Very cool that the original XPan lenses can easily be adapted, but it's not the same without the same angles (at least to me). Great shots anyway, always fun to watch your videos!
Yeah agree it’s not the same feeling at all, I think their 28P f4 would do great
Amazing shoot's.
I’m starting to dream in CinemaScope… Thanks for letting us tag along with you 👍🏻
Darn this is a beautiful video
Do I bring the 4D to CES…
@@cammackey yes but we rig a glass of water to it and see who can run the fastest without spilling
@ hahahaha deal. You bring the insurance. I’ll bring the bird.
I really enjoy your videos. Your approach to photography and your positive outlook come shining through. I have recently become as Hasselblad 907X owner and this video has proven to be very inspiring. Thank you for your great work!
I bet you could pull off some serious magic with the XCD 20-35 E lens!
Love the video production, it’s fantastic!
Also great to see Sedona up & about, even if still limping a bit.
Yes thank you! Her healing has been slow but still progress
@ wish I could trust our dog to not run off at the first opportunity, I’d take her out on my photo trips if I did, she’s currently curled up next to me as I watched & commented on your video.
Wow... Just wow
Very cool. Bravo.
This video is insane 🔥🔥🔥
Crazy to know one of my favorite creators lives so close to me! Good day when Cam posts.
Where you at?
@@cammackey I live in Colton like 10 min away from Redlands.
I honestly thought it was the Osmo Pocket 3 at first. But then I stopped the Video and watched on my TV and it was a whole lot different. I love the look. Go for it for 2025 :D Happy New Year
Killed it Cam!
Brilliant. Great photography, as always.
i really like this video, good mood today
Hey Cam- great short vibes dude! Quick question as a fellow filmmaker- have you ever attached the DJI focus pro grip to a Rs4pro on a tilta ring? Love the AMF feature on the Focus pro- want it on my one man gimbal setup. No worries if this is a crazy question- but keep killing it brother!
banger!
Haaselblad has an OVF for the 907 X.
Reminescent of the Hasselblad SWC viewfinder, the 907 X OVF has markings for the 21, 30 and 45 mm, and a centre cross for an autofocus point.
Happy New Year !!
I saw! I may have to check it out. Does it do XPan frame lines tho?
@@cammackey Idk, for sure but I think not.
But next time for the xpan thing on the hassy, let them borrow you the XCD 4/21, hehe :)
Fantastic video,,,
Awesome Video and Camera Work! Did you use the blazar Remus? If yes which focal lengths? :)
All the 4D shots are with the Remus 33mm and all the handheld shots are the Blazar Apex 50mm
oh man....I've wanted a digital Xpan for years...I need one of these!!! amazing video!! I got the Sony A7cII because it has a type of panoramic overlay but it doesn't bake the crop into the photo, the photo shows up regular on the computer. It doesn't even bake it onto the jpeg!!!
Yeah this bakes it in! I know lunix cameras can do it too but I don’t remember if it can back it in
Lumix full frame cameras have 24x65 crop
@@jalakanen we just said that, but I don’t recall if it bakes it in to the raw file
babe. wake up, Cam is Clogging
Just came across your channel and love your videos! The hasselblad is stunning for photography but what’s your go to video cam?
Try shooting with an equivalent lens. A 28mm on a 44x33 sensor should match the 45mm on the XPAN. That would be a cool comparison.
Gonna try my Thypoch 28mm on it tomorrow! Just got an M mount adapter
I would be really interested in videos about fashion stuff with the X2D. Especially how well the AF works etc. I've got the itch for a larger sensor but I just can't bring myself to buy a GFX.
There are some rumors Fuji might release digital Xpan in 2026 or 2027. I would love it to happen, I have always been fan of the panoramic format.
Sadly it’ll be with their cropped sensors, so it won’t be as big of a format still. So the width would barely be any bigger than the GFX sensors. Which is still 20mm smaller than true XPan. If we’re gonna do digital I rather it be a true 65mm format, otherwise it won’t feel the same. The issue is sensors read horizontally.. so if they do a digital shutter, it’ll be hard. So a physical shutter would or a leaf shutter lens would be needed. OR a global shutter… like red Raptor X
Cam, have you tried the Fujifilm GFX 50R? I believe it to be even closer to the Xpan/TX experience, being a Rangefinder style camera, & it has 65:24 aspect ratio setting, plus built in film sims, it even has ‘Fujifilm’ embossed on the body, just like the TX1 did (granted, it’s in a different location!). I even have a smallrig Arca Swiss L plate on my 50R which has a wooden grip on the right hand side front of the camera.
I owned it and shot some of my most favorite fashion work with the 50r. I love and miss it but I don’t miss the view finder on it, was horrible in the desert haha. Might pick up an old 50S
@@cammackey I have a selection of cameras and lenses here, maybe not as many as you, but the 50R for some reason, is very special to me. I wish I understood why, but I don’t, I just love using it, so much more than my Sony’s (which are technically excellent & arguably ‘better’), & I even grab the 50R in preference to my M10-D, which feels lovely in the hands, but, I just don’t love using as much as the 50R.
Mind you, the 907 is visually very appealing to me, I can imaging the feel of it is every bit as good as, if not even better than the M10-D. I know exactly what you meant when you commented about the feel of a camera inspiring you to shoot more with it….while I love the 50R, it’s feel in the hand isn’t up there with the Leica, or I strongly suspect, the 907.
@ oh yes I know what you’re saying, I use to love that camera! I think prefer the 50S more. But even the sensor alone on those GFX 50, there was something special to it. Not overly sharp. Great dynamic range. Filmic feeling really.
@@cammackey yeah, considering the age of that 50MP MF sensor it performs amazingly well, the files from it are lovely to work with. I’ve been using a Pentax P67 105/2.4 via a Kipon Baveyes x0.7 adapter with my 50R a lot, I’d guess, over 75% of my shots on the 50R have been with that lens and adapter, it renders beautifully (for a spherical lens at least 😂), awesome combo.
I looked at both the 50s & 50r before I purchased. The dual axis tilt LCD on the 50s was VERY appealing to me at the time, but, I disliked the bulk of the 50s, especially the way the way the back of the camera where the LCD is seemed to stick out a fair bit. The 50r felt a neater package to me. While I’d miss the dual tilt LCD for low down portrait orientation shots, they would only happen once in a while, but the bulkiness of the 50s would always be present, all the time. So, I opted for the 50R, and don’t regret it one bit.
I felt Fujifilm were onto something when the 50s & 50r was a current model, to me, it looked like Fujifilm were going to introduce a very modular MF camera experience. I was looking forward to them going 1 step further with their next gen MF cameras, and in addition to removeable EVF, I thought they might offer re moveable LCDs. They could have done this in such a way that they could have launched new & improved EVF’s, LCDs or bodies with the sensor, and it would have given customers easier/cheaper upgrade paths….& it would have been very much in keeping with the film MF ethos. I was disappointed to see them coming out with more ‘SLR’ style cameras and moving further away from the semi-modular approach that the 50s had introduced. Really think Fujifilm have missed a trick here.
my frustrated dream is to someday have a tx1 or an xpan, I can only do panoramic photography with a FUJIFILM CARDIA PANORAMA.
When will this show be on Netflix?!?!
Haha imagine that! That would be way too much pressure tho 😂 That’s the joys of RUclips, it’s all in our own hands!
@@cammackey 100%
Nice video...
Curious if I can use the lens on my gfx 100sii
Never sell that Xpan dude! I've recently been loading 35 mm film into my RB67 with 3d printed adapters and getting it shooting 5mm wider than an Xpan as I can't find an Xpan for any less than a kidney lol. The infrared film looks great! I've been shooting lots of the Vision 3 recently
907X maybe I could see enjoying with the limitations. But X2D would make me mental without video capability - when I could have a GFX 100 II with 9m dot EVF, anamorphic support, and a sensor that never shows dust due to the cover glass spacing.
So we have Video Logging (Vlogging) but I gird this is cinema - soo.. Clogging?
Hahahaha that doesn’t extant roll off the tongue. But I like this thinking… gonna need to workshop this.
me immediately screwing my Blazar 1.5x in front of my lens again 🥹
We gotta collab in 2025 broskie
why why in the world they Do not make the TX-1 nowadays ... Why ??? there is a Lot of people that shoots film in the present ...
It’s digital tough. Sensors are hard to make so doubling the full frame with is a gamble. Now to mention creating a shutter than can handle it.. so a leaf shutter lens or global shutter sensor would be needed
Need to stop it cam, I am broke.hahahaha
I have an idea. Do a giveaway of a Sony FX 6 because mine crashed to the ground. We have to rig it where I win. 8-)
😂😂😂😂
wait till he finds out about the gfx50r
Already owned it. Hated the viewfinder, I actually like the 50s more!
It’s like Netflix but I don’t have to pay for a membership
Justin Phillip doesn't like this post 🤣
Wish I exported this in pro res to hold more quality but ehhhhhh was fun to make haha
It almost feels illegal to watch the quality of this on RUclips. You are vlogging but cinematically. A few channels attempt this or have their version of it but they weave the "cinematic" sections into little highlights and cool shots. You entire video is cinematic. The talking to camera about the subject at hand is cinematic. Am I saying cinematic too much. Great work.
