    I really like how you categorized your photos into keepers and portfolio shots. I’ve had a hard time figuring out what photos to do with all my random photos and I think I will take this opportunity to start a portfolio of my favorite shots!

    • @kleanish
      @kleanish Год назад +10

      I dont know how this pertains exactly to what you said, but whenever I was deciding on whether a shot was a portfolio shot, if I had to question myself or second guessed the photograph, then it wasn't deserving to be in the portfolio.
      Easy trick for anyone interested.

    6:01- 6:21 - that's my block! That's where I've lived, as a photographer for 5 years - you made it look lovely. Also you're absolutely right, Blank Street Coffee is PURE AESTHETIC, because it...is. It's owners raised $40m in venture capital funding to build a massive coffee chain, by cos-playing an indy coffee shop.

    the thing with xp2 is that you can overexpose it, and the grain really smooths out. when you underexpose it or have lots of shadow in the frame, it'll get grainy and crunchy. i'll rate it anywhere from 100 to 800 iso on a single roll depending on the situation and how i feel. it's fun like that

    Hi Kyle,
    I work in a camera store Fotohandel Delfshaven, Delft NL. We specialize in vintage premium cameras. and the heavy knobs and wheels are a common thing to happen. Nothing to worry about but it can get a bit more stiff over time. Its old grease and needs cleaning and by a general shutter and mechanical service. Of course the dent is a bit suspicious in this case. You can contact our technician: amsterdam camera repairs if you ever want to get it serviced back to new again. Oh and btw: 2.8 is not worth the upgrade, I actually prefer the 3.5F lens over the 2.8! Great camera’s! Enjoy it!

    That Edward Hopper exhibition was magnificent. Went to NY for my 50th in February and stumbled on that after a walk along the high line, during which I'd also taken my favourite photo from the trip. Great day. Back to Hopper, a masterclass in observation, framing, composure and colour ( yeah with a U).

  • @VirtualGuth

    You managed to capture a lot of great images during this trip - in my opinion, some of your most inspired looking work in a while. Just as important, I feel that you managed to strike a great balance between composition and opportunity. So many street photographers today flock to places with the highest amount of foot traffic possible as this provides them with the most candid opportunities. Sadly, those same photographers seemingly pay little attention to the composition of their images. (I did not know that Manhattan is dominated by the same big box stores found everywhere else in the country, how depressing.) Essentially much of what is referred to as street photography today is what was once called snapshots. It seems obvious from he images you've shared here that you are managing to do a good job at keeping composition in mind while also managing to deal with the people in the frame.

    I like the way you called it 'The Big Crapple'. I actually sometimes call it 'The Big Snapple' because I love Snapple and there's so many places you can purchase it there. I'm from a small town and you can't buy it here, although we can buy it sometimes from traders who pass through. I can usually get a bottle for a few turnips or a couple of pounds of millet. There's one trader who comes every year and my mom insists we go and visit him, and that I tell him how I'm doing at school which always feels kind of random. Last time as we were driving back she went all quiet and then said how I had his eyes. Anyway thanks for the vlog really enjoyed it

    I've been shooting XP2 35mm for a while now and it's surprisingly not too bad. Yeah, it's grainy but not as bad as you'd think. Like, in comparison, I would say the grain on the 35mm is equal for the dpi as the 120 (maybe even better on the 35mm actually). I also shoot HP5 and other b&w films, and each has their loveable characteristics - and the XP2 for sure hold the title of grainiest, but I love that

    Pertaining to XP2, that's a development issue or exposure issue. I've seen XP2 stand developed in Rodinal with next to no grain. The chemicals used to develop your XP2 may have been fucked. XP2, esp when overexposed, exhibits next to no grain.
    It also doesn't handle underexposure well, esp on the shadows so maybe expose for the shadows and see if the grain persists.
