Nice to see taking a ride on the Avanti West Coast Class 805 Evero. They are such lovely trains and the Class 807 should be in service before the end of 2024.
When I saw the title of this video I read it as "Cassowary Coast" and thought you had made it to Australia. Though when you do get around to travelling beyond the British and Irish isles you'll probably head to India - lots of trains and also lots of vegetation food.
Train cancelled at Crewe, that was a bit poo 🤣 Holyhead breakwater used to have its own railway until 1981. A class 01 shunter would occasionally run along it with maintenance trains
I was at Euston a few days ago & there was a 5 car Evero due to leave on a Holyhead working. The tannoy announcement said the service would be splitting in Crewe, so make sure you're sitting in the correct section. By the time it left it was still just a single 5 car unit. I'd have paid to see that split in Crewe station then part of it continue to Holyhead!
Another highly enjoyable journey ! As someone who used to act very childishly when having to vacate trains mid journey I admire your good humour and tolerance ! The part where you explored the town and breakwater brought back many memories of my past visits !
Thanks for including one of my faves words in the world vestibule.Maybe we should see if you can get other words in this wonderful vlog of yours; maybe Canary and Alan Pickford next time?? xxxx
Nice video as always. Shame it was cut short at Crewe. I was really impressed when I travelled on one recently how seamlessly they change at Crewe from AC to diesel.
Nice video G! I myself finally managed to get a ride on an Avanti 805 out to Llandudno Junction last week, though it took a fair bit of chasing around and a bit of luck to find one that was in operation. These new trains don't tilt like the old Voyagers did, and I believe _may_ have to be limited to 110mph on the west coast mainline (I wonder if anyone could verify that?) The upside is that they do seem to accelerate quite fast, and the livery is very handsome looking. As an aside...now that TfW is running so many 197s, I'd think they'd have have plenty of extra 158 units floating around that they could just run 4-car 158s nearly all the time now. I love TfW, but they always seem to run these 2-car 158 units on the _most_ rammed services, and it can be pure madness if you ever get trapped on one...
Great vlog G. I rode the new Avanti 805 evero trains on the first Monday in passenger service to/from Chester and I must say they are nice new trains. Avanti seem to be having staffing issues on the north wales services recently.
Jess, UTBt. I liked that. I think we may see further direct services to Holyhead from Brum in the future. That said the North Wales Coasts and Bala Lines Electrification Projects are Major Engineering Works. Demand that Avanti & TFL have Standard Restaurant Provision. ✅Gd✅Rm.
I was in Colwyn Bay last week, and at the time I wanted to photograph these new Evero's (about 7.30 am), I reckon half of them had been turned short at Crewe or Stafford.
Very enjoyable, G. At least you got there, despite the cancellation. (I think as you were more than 60 minutes late, you can claim a full refund.) I’d love to go to Anglesey - looks like a great place!
Fantastic vlog G nice to see inside of the 805 the staff shortage seems to be quite regular all around the network hopefully next time you travel on an 805 you get to do the full journey
Shame the 805 let u down abit suppose it wanted its own poo in crewe 💩and didn't fancy holyhead!! Haha still you got there anyway if a bit later lovely view along the breakwater great video G fantastic as ever 👌🤗
I am supposed to be going on that train from north wales to London here soon, but by seeing the trains all cancelled between the station and Crewe not too hopeful
Brilliant video G, the new evero trains look nice, I've still yet to ride one myself. Shame the train got cancelled at Crewe but hey you did get a 158 ride to Holyhead.
I know the old network Southeast has a network card that gives you 1/3 off train fairs - have they got other network cards covering other areas of the UK?
i dont know if this matches what yiu are talking sbiut but the southern daysave allows unlimited travel on southern for the day. southern only, i dont know about other restrictions also railcards are a thing, i dont know if that matches what you are talking about
Good video G! I do like the look of those new 805's, a shame that the service got cancelled at Crewe. Always a very picturesque journey along the north Wales coast!! 👍
Great vlog, G! Great you got to ride an Evero and try it out yourself! That's unfortunate your unit got cancelled, but at least you got a ride on TfW to Holyhead!
Are they still doing Rail/Sail to/from Dublin via Holyhead? I've done that a number of times. Once I got booked onto a ferry that was in drydock, so not only no crew, no ship!
Nice! New Train Smell i bet 😅. THANK YOU for the ticket app tip before. Found much better prices than the app i had. Nice! Coming over to the UK in 2 weeks time from now. Question: Here in Sweden 🇸🇪 travel classes are called 1st and 2nd class, not 1st and Standard… why do you think that is?
Glad you got to Holyhead, sorry you had to change trains, Wow you even got to walk along to the light house were we Camped for the Night woke up to the fog horn as I said in (Exploring North Wales by Train DAY 8 ) its a shame they stopped the Cars going along there now, Maybe a safety thing, But at the time we took the Car to the light house , I forgot to mention Prince William was Flying round in the Royal Cost Air Sea and rescue Helicopter , thanks G bringing them memory's back have a great night You Still rock
That line looks an absolute delight to travel on, really must try it sometime. I'm actually doing a long journey next week, Thursday going from The Wigan to Glasgow Central for an overnight stay then the day after I'm using Flixbus back to Preston as it was far far cheaper, looking forward to it very much
Hi G, informative as ever, full reason for cancellation at Crewe was insufficient traincrews...that signed the new traction...🙂 What were those seats like comfort wise? They looked like ironing boards...hope your return home was easier... Take care, Jon B.
@@GLovesTrains The same style seats were fitted on our new Cambridge-Brighton stock services, seats were diabolical, no padding whatsoever, hence the term "ironing board". Even the management hated them...

What lovely trains! A lovely symmetrical seating layout at last! Why can't all trains be like that? Far better than a Pendolino with seats just thrown in any old how. Great video as usual 👍
Lovely to see Holyhead. I planned to go there recently to use TfW's Premier service to Cardiff, but I didn't want to wake up at 5am... seems like you're winning at early mornings 😂

I'm trying to get hold of the vocal from the track so I can remix under my artist alias Miditekk. Thanks again for the great content.
Nice to see the new 805s, I've yet to be on one yet. Shame it didn't go all the way when I saw you get out at crewe I thought we was about to see the power switch over. I did see at Coventry at one point a 805 coupled to a 807 which I'm not sure why because that would make it 12 couches long but that was when they was testing them. Hope one day to get on one and I'll tell you what it's like and see what 1st class is like if I'm very lucky 😄. Hope you enjoyed it though 😊
Apparently, the switch for Class 805s from overhead power to diesel takes place at Stafford, not Crewe. Which makes absolutely no sense but I'm sure someone probably knows
Great video G! Avanti have definitely got it right with the new 805s except for the on single end seat without a window and that’s in all the Hitachi trains, can’t get my head around that but shame you didn’t get to ride it all the way to Holyhead or for the Welsh Caergybi but glad you got some experience. Do want to keep politics free but to note as there is a election around the corner and and if Labour were to win it would be goodbye to all the current TOC’s and hello to Great British Railways but will see what happens with that if it does happen but overall a great video 🙂👍🏻
The prices Avanti charge and they can’t even run a service! That 158 is a downgrade but atleast there wifi was working! P.s was you eligible for delay repay?
These trains must be immediately put into service on the Manchester to Holyhead route as quickly as possible - additional service extensions from Hull and Leeds via Manchester Victoria direct to Holyhead must be put in place as part of a wider and massive overhaul of the current SailRail product offering between Manchester and Holyhead, which must happen as quickly as possible, with timings to match ferry check-ins and ferry arrivals from Dublin, in conjunction with Irish Ferries and Stena
£11.20 for that journey? What a bargain! Those new Class 805 trains are very nice indeed, even if there was a slight case of the large round fruits turning to face the sky...! Still, a 158 is not a bad old thing to end up on. I laughed at "Bangor? I would...!"
