My mom made my prom dress from her wedding dress, it was blue lace and she totally redone it for me, it was beautiful!
That's so cool!
I think your‘re mum loves you a lot 🤍☺️
I would love to see it. It's amazing to read that her wedding dress became your prom dress
omg really that's so cool!
dang that's so sweet of her!!! what a sign of pure and unconditional love...!! ♥
so...i can do my dresses with the things in my house like the film "enchanted"...😗
I WAS THINKING OF THE SAME THING LMAO
@@ghulaapamzaan4689 ME TOO LMAOOOO ESPECIALLY WITH THE PUFF SLEEVES
Absolutely! Also thrift shops always have sheets, pillow cases, and even full yards of really nice fabrics that you can use to make dresses
@@agoofygoober7649 good way to recycle ♻️
I'd say yes
She's going to be a big deal in fashion if she feels like it. The self-evident joy she gets from sewing and creativity is what it takes to do the hard work to be a success.
This is sooo beautiful! Those sleeves are my favorite part! (:
Mine too! thank you so much!!!
@@PaperStxrs They're my least favourite part - but they do look great on you. And for a prom dress a bit of arm coverage might be appropriate in the US - and it WOULD have looked quite low-cut without the sleeves.
The general style and the pattern of the fabric is lovely. It's a wonderful ballroom fantasy - and who wouldn't want that? I find it impressive how well you managed to fit that bodice.
The puppy is my favorite part.
@@PaperStxrs hi! Iove this dress and I'm gonna try to make it! And I was wondering what the sizing was because I really didn't understand that…. Which might be because I just have a very little brain but I don’t understand how to measure it. Sorry but I’m thanks and your super talented! ❤
The pinning alone is expert level in my book. You've got skills.
Srslyy.. no matter how many times I see sewing videos.. for me cutting part is alone in expert level 😞😂
She pins with absolute confidence. Those are experienced hands!
She has great video edit skills too , for a second I thought it was a TV show episode that got uploaded to RUclips , , amazing edit skills , , ,bravo 👏 😋👍👍
I'm now thinking of all the bed sheets i could use to make pretty summer dresses.....
Can someone tell me all the measurements, please
@@diyamulwani9577 it would depend on your body, her measurements most likely wouldn't fit you. you have to measure yourself
@@kossa8668 thnx 😊
Gorg!!! There’s a little trick for the pockets. As you’re sewing down the side seam towards the top edge of the pocket, instead of cutting the thread and skipping the pocket and continuing down the side seam, make sure the needle is down and turn the fabric so that you sew around the pocket. When you finish around the pocket and get back to the side seam turn the fabric and continue sewing down the side seam. Hope that made sense. Happy sewing!
Is it you christopher
Was gonna say the same thing but you beat me to it... ;))
Great tip - I was thinking the same thing ! That way it's one continuous seam instead of having to stop and start.
That’s what I would have done as well.
I was thinking the same thing.
The dog laying down while you're working is so realistic. My cats love "helping" me cut out pieces. This turned out so pretty.
Honestly I thought it was a fake dog. 🙄Thank you for clarifying that for me.
Awe A girl after my heart. When my daughter was in high school she wanted some checked shirts but at the store they were $45 apiece so I went and bought sheets that were the exact same type of fabric as the shirts were and they only cost me three dollars apiece to make and she looked great in them and you could not tell the difference between the shirts I made and the shirts that were in the store
That's really beautiful. I am sure your daughter still appreciates your effort to go above and beyond. :)
You go GIRL !!! $45.00 is ridiculous. I don't buy anything retail except for my bras and underwear
Absolutely stunning. Made me grin. I bought sheets from the thrift store when I started sewing so that if I went wrong I wasn't wasting exspensive fabric. Turns out there is no need to buy exspensive fabric. I made a beautiful dress from laura Ashley curtains, and another from a duvet :) it's a perfect way to make sure your wardrobe is unique.
Many years ago, I worked in the Bed & Bath Department at a brand new store. I made 2 floor length Hawaiian dresses to wear during sheet sales. One of the Display Department men sewed a couple of long sleeve shirts from sheets. We looked great! I've sewn floor to ceiling drapes from king size sheets and ruffled curtains from twin size sheets. I've even made a tufted wall covering for my daughter's room from sheets. Sheets can be the perfect fabric for many projects! Thanks for posting this video!
✨ OMG, I love this girl. She is a sewing goddess. I am just getting decent at making clothes and I really look up to u girl. U r awesome and keep up the amazing work :) ✨
✨can’t believe this is a bed sheet 😱✨
awww thank you so much!!😊
Aww, no problem 🥰
@@B0mgyuu_ I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your handle. The "font" of the letters is FABULOUS!!!!
Thank you for this tutorial! The dress looks amazing! Could you maybe explain where the measurements come from? Like when you show all the pieces and their measurements, it would be really helpful if you could explain or show how you came up with those measurements, it would make it so much easier to recreate the pattern. Thank you!
I’d wear this to an important event, fall asleep, then blame it on my dress for being made of a bedsheet 😂
😂😂😂
She brings a flood of memories back for me. I remember sewing my prom dress. No one knew it & I didn't tell. It wasn't "fashionable" to sew at the time. If you wore homemade clothes you were considered poor to po (pō). I grew up quite po. Now it's a fashion rage to sew as it's considered a lost art. This young lady is incredibly talented and appreciate discovering her on U-tube. Glad she has a wonderful support system(her family)! Blessing Be 💫💫💫
Hoh, the sheets you chose worked PERFECTLY for the design of this dress. I would totally wear this, make a sun hat to match, put on some bling and GO
The dress is absolutely gorgeous! And your dog is so cute, please include him in more videos 😊
haha thank you!😊
Omg that dress is amazingly beautiful. You look like you stepped out of a magazine, just gorgeous .
i’m gonna attempt and use a short skirt version of this for my graduation dress! i love the puffy sleeves and the neckline so much!
I am in LOVE with the shape! Those sleeves especially! ❤
Aight, I just started making dresses using my mom's sewing machine. *I'll make sure to get to this level and make a beautiful gown like this!* Since I can already feel that I'll have another quarantine birthday 🙄 (Philippines 🤦) I shall make a dress like this for my birthday! Hihi Thank you for this!
So talented girl, thank you so much for your tutorial, I done dressed my daughter with curtains fabric that my sister give it away, I cannot afford fabric, now I’m a Fashion Designer and I found this video, you are Amazing and keep going young lady. God bless you
I am blown away! You are a very talented young lady!
This is so gorgeous!!! I wanna run down a marble corridor in this dress 🥰
Makes me wanna go to prom. I mean it makes me want to have an occasion to make a dress for. Guess there's no prom 4 years out of high school (with definitely no intent to become a teacher)
ruclips.net/video/yGAtm-ykAmE/видео.html🤯
Throw a prom themed party with your friends and wear a prom dress. Boom. 😌
You can totally make this dress and wear it around the house. 💐
Take ballroom classes, our dans school has a gala twice a year and two competitions, there is also an exam where you need to wear pretty clothes for
Heck, I'm 62 and I want this dress too! Dance lessons, or just going out for a fancy meal, or just hanging around the house as one commenter said.
Hi Ally! I just made this dress!! It's so beautiful and turned out much better then I had expected...😂 Thank you for making this video, you are so talented! I can't wait to follow along with more of your wonderful sewing tutorials!😍
P.S.
To all the people who have been thinking about making this dress, I would totally encourage you to do it!💛
How did you fit the skirt on the bedsheet? I’m trying to make it for my prom dress and the pattern piece is too big 😭😭
I ran into the same problem! I ended up just making the dress shorter. But if you want it long maybe you could add 2 or 3 more ruffles to the bottom of the dress if that makes any sense 😂
Aaaah, there is something so satisfying about watching it all come together.
Love how this turned out. It's so pretty!
I can't wait for the next one.
I'm planning on making my own prom dress and your videos have helped/inspired me so much!!
yayyy!! thats so awesome! I'm so glad!😊
@@PaperStxrs same I actually made a short flowy dress w puffy sleeves for myself it turned out so good ♥️
I'll never look at a sheet the same again. Absolutely gorgeous dress, but also looks comfortable, aaaand with pockets. Girl got talent!
Tip for doing a lot of pleats: for some reason, I can't always get my pleats to lay right as they go under the foot, so after much trial and error, I learned to do a wide loose stitch to hold them all in place while you sew. It takes a few extra minutes, but that's better than having to rip out stitches and redo multiple times like I did the first time.
The good ol' machine basting stitch
Yes!!! Add basting your gathered fabric to whatever you're attaching it to as well because pinning makes the actual sewing process so much longer
yes . . . its called a 'stay stitch' ...tailors and seamstresses have used them for *hundreds* of years in the tailoring industry. If you had asked an older person who knew, they would have taught you this, but, of course, everyone under 25 knows EVERYTHING and we KNOW NOTHING.
You did an outstanding job in design, construction, modeling, and, most importantly, demonstration. I love using vintage or 'found' materials to make something completely different.
This was awesome to watch! You definitely explained the sleeve things so well, because I have not been able to figure it out no matter how many tutorials I watch, but yours made sense. Love the dress, great job!
I made a 3 piece suit from some beautiful sheets. My colleagues were actually shocked when I told them the suit was made from bed sheets and even more shocked when they learned I sew. That was years ago, I just do quilts now. Great video keep up the good work !!!
"Pretty in Pink" Pretty in Blue ! You nailed it. I love that dress , love the print and love the style. Very feminine. 50 years ago that would of been my prom dress.
I still sew but not clothes my more. Your a future designer. Keep it up.
She is so good at explaining what she is doing. This is like d 1st sewing channel where I understand what is going on
This is THE BEST instructions ive been able to find on pieces to cut and also used from a sheet! I have kind sized white sheets that cane with a king set but we just wanted the comforter. So now im gunna use all the white sheets and pillow cases to make this!
I want this dress to wear just causally! The fabric/sheet you picked out was sooo cute! Nice job :D
Wow, what talent!! You did an absolutely beautiful job and I'm stunned you made this without a paper pattern! It's a beautiful and becoming dress!
Watched this for the millionth time because the pattern just came out! Thank you so much for making a pattern! It makes my life so much easier!
Sooo happy to see this!
Im 65....started sewing my clothes, curtains, etc etc. at age 11...endless possibilities....fabric is fabric...doesnt need to come from the fabric store either!!
Sewing skills def come in handy!...change the world your own way!
Such a smart woman you are!!...
This video is so wonderful and cheerful and calming. Missed my zoom class log on time while watching. No regrets.
One of the prettiest dresses I have ever seen.
Wow! Beautiful dress! Very Gone With The Wind. Mamie and Scarlett would approve! 💛
Very pretty, and so easy to take care of. I once lived in an old farm house with ceiling to floor windows. I had 14 windows to dress. I used sheets. They were beautiful. I was so proud of the. Ift was back in 1985, I still have them.
I had to thumbs up. I mean she made it out of a bed sheet. She's like Cinderella or something... Idk. It's magic!
And instead of mice she has a tiny doggo!!
Insert gif of Carol Burnett spoofing Scarlett O’Hara. Lol -beautiful dress!!
I was looking for dresses to make out of my curtains and I NEW it would pop up. Watched it anyway cuz i saw it in the window and fell in love 😂
Beautiful dress and fantastic job; the fact you put Pockets is Genius!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!! The fabric is gorgeous!
Wow! How pretty that dress is. My late mother and my younger sister used to sew clothes, costumes, etc but it wasn't my "thing". I love to knit so I do stuff for my sister and her family and she hems my pants, etc when needed.
I loved your video and that dress is to die for
Your videos are always sooooo relaxing I literally get so excited when you post! I would love videos on how to make patterns, shorts, and shirts!
aww thank you!🥺 thanks for the suggestions!!😊
Ah omg this is beautiful! I got the notification and rannnnnn
haha thank you so much!!!
First off, I LOVE❤ to see younger ladies sewing and expressing their creativity and imagination! Secondly, well done on being frugal with utilizing sheets for this project. That’s super smart! Last, well done! Gorgeous, great color choices. Keep up the amazing projects and love the video. P.S love the dog helping you and YAY for pockets.
Oh my Gosh, You wouldn't believe how much I loved the dress style when found on pinterest. I've bought a similar fabric and now I've come across this video. You look stunning. The dress is so gorgeous. Thanks for the tutorial.
Enjoy your day, thank you so much for posting!
The coolest summer dresses I’ve made were made from cotton sheets. Also beautiful patterns
Love the fabric! Love the pockets! Love the whole dress design!
Great job! I used to do Medieval re-enactment. You never look at household linens in the same way. Plain sheets do for mock-ups, chemises, or petticoats. I found a beautiful duvet cover once and a friend, who was less busy than myself, made a lovely overdress for me. It had a fleur de lis pattern on it.
So lovely and quite doable brilliant better than all the other dresses Ive seen as wedding dresses and prom outfits brilliant❤😊
I can't take my eyes off of the dress 😅💙 so delicate and delightful
Beautiful!! I've used sheets to make many things, from dresses to curtains.
You are an amazing, creative young lady!!
Hi Ally, Im a little late at seeing this video. You are a very talented young lady. I am 62 and I wondered if young people were sewing their own clothes. I even stopped at a Girl Scout table and asked them if they even taught sewing any more. It is very refreshing to see your BEAUTIFUL creations and to read the comments of all the people that had made this dress. Good Luck to you. You have a very "bright" future in fashion IF YOU WANT ONE !!! GOOD LUCK !!!!
I LOVE THIS DRESS SO MUCH!!! Your content makes sewing less daunting, so thank you!! You're also so pretty 😍
aww yay that makes me so happy!! thank you so much!😊
This even as just a top would be so dreamy!!!
Very well done dear! Far better than I could have done at your age. Here's a tip, to make a long skirt hem super flouncy, sew 3 or 4 inch horsehair braid into the hem and it will pop, even after washing!
Not only that it is a super gorgeous dress, but thank you for the tip on saving $$$ on material. I used to buy 3XL clothes on final sales to save on material prices, but your idea is THE BEST! Also, I love how Chloe likes to be involved in the sewing process. She is just too cute! 😍😘🥰
Omg I'm in love! Totally gonna make this once I get my sewing machine!
Also, thank you so much for providing clear patterns, it's been super helpful!!
yayyy! I'm so glad!😊
WOW, that dress is beautiful! No one would have known it was a bed sheet unless they watched your video
It is beautiful. And one of a kind. No one else will have a dress like yours at prom for sure!
Love, love, love this dresss!!!!! Beautiful! ❤🎉
Holy crap this is my hometown! Funny seeing town center in a vid on my recommended. Yippie!
This is the first time I have seen your channel and may I say you are absolutely brilliant at makeing things and very talented , the dress is beautiful reminds me a bit from the old movies ( gone with the wind and such ) really enjoyed watching and can't wait for the next , Thank you x x
Brilliant! You are adorable! Your dress is beautiful and you are going places young lady 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It's so nice to see young people are still sewing!! And your level of expertise is amazing! Material has gotten so expensive, so I've been thrifting sheets, tablecloths, etc for all the curtains in my house. Cross your fingers
they don't catch on.... Your dress is beautiful, and I love the floral pattern! So reminiscent of a more romantic era, lovely!.
That is just the style I was gonna attempt for my prom dress!! Thank you!!
perfect!!!😊
For the large folded over edge on bedsheets, I love to use those as ruffles :) super easy
GIRL! These sleeves are to die for!! The way the pattern looks as a dress took it to a new level haha.
That was THE BEST pocket tutorial i have ever seen. So easy to follow and well explained. Thank you!!
This turned out so gorgeous!!! I'm also really happy I watched this because I've been trying to figure out how to make some reAlly puffy sleeves like that for a shirt and your tutorial gave me a really good starting point for that, so thank you so much for sharing your creations ^u^
hii!✨ i love your work :) and i would really like if you could make a basic things series (sleeves, patterning, darts, sewing machine foots, stuff like that ;) you sew SUPER well , I also love your nails✨ thank you✨ i know you’ve done these tutorials in other videos but i was thinking about a ✨recompilation✨ :)
Wow!! Wow!! I’m so impressed right now! Fabulous job! Absolutely beautiful!!
I love this. I made a dress from a sheet years ago. but it was just a simple sheath. I really love turning one piece into another new fashion style. Made a bathrobe tot a child from a fuzzy jacket that I had.
I love this!! I might try to make it for my friend’s wedding coming up! Beautiful!
Sorry I just wanted to say that I love your profile pic art!
Anyways, good luck on your project-happy sewing!
It turned out so amazing! Oh my gosh good job, wow!
thanks so much!!😊✨
So fun to know I'm not the only one to do this! Like your bodice and sleeves better than mine. Of course mine was back in the 70's. Keep on stitching!
oh my gosh I am SHOOK I think this is the most gorgeous dress I've ever seen
If only i could find such a pretty sheet
I've been using bedding and curtains for a very long time 😂 so it's great to see young people doing it still I make Victorian Steampunk Gothic Styles Outfits and Headwear 💜😈💜
You are fabulous!!! What talent!! I'm so impressed. Humans are so versatile, you made a beautiful dress.
I quilt and make bags mostly but i love any sewing video. This makes me want to try clothes, seeing you make something so pretty!! You are the cutest btw, love how you talk.
Brilliant! This looks like a Dior dress. Gorgeous!
DUDE YOUR GROWING SO FAST- I FEEL LIKE YOU JUST HAD 2K OMG
ahh thank you!! I know, its crazy!!😊
Love the sleeves. I use to make them for my self when I was younger. Lovely dress
Always press before cutting out pieces. How creative and absolutely gorgeous. Well done
Everytime I go to a clothing store with my sister we always joke about dresses like saying they stole someone's sheets or their curtains..
And she really did this time 😂 (Also the dress is gorgeous)
How do you know how big to make each panel? I sew with custom patterns often, but I’ve never sewn a fitted bodice like this (I usually just add darts) cuz I can’t figure out how to measure myself snd then translate it to the weird curvy parts
I love that fabric!! I also think this dress would make a beautiful bride's maid dress for a summer wedding!!
How creative! And, it turned out beautiful!
Your dress looks stunning :) I recently bought a few yards of voile de jouy fabric and I thought it d be perfect for this pattern :) do you have online pdf pattern for us to download ? Thanks
I love your videos❤️😘😍 you inspired me to sew my own dress
aww thank you!! that's so awesome!!✨
@@PaperStxrs omg you replied 🥺
WOW, that dress is absolutely gorgeous and you are so talented!!!!! Amazing.
Your gown is so beautiful, unique and a one off!
