- This is the last prom dress in my mini series of making 3 different prom dresses for no good reason, and I really love how it turned out! I've never made a full length dress with a slit, or used appliques before, so this dress was a fun challenge! That's a stunning dress- would love to see you make a 50's inspired tea length dress (petticoat optional!) You have great sewing and pattern cutting skills!
Your french seams, boning channels, bias binding and straps look super neat and well-done.
Today I learned how scary organza is and that the bias tape is cut along the bias. I can't believe that didn't click until you said so. You're such an inspiration and it looks so good. This series was so nice to watch, can't wait for more future projects

I would say for beginner supplies I would get a nice pair of fabric scissors, pins, measuring tape, a water soluble pencil, and of course a sewing machine!☺️ I hope that helps!!✨

@@comepaintwithme6575 I use a brother sewing machine, and it's worked wonders for me once I got the hang of it.

This dress is gorgeous - wish I had the skills to do something like this and somewhere to wear it! I love the addition of the flowers, I think it joins the corset part and the skirt together really well.
You can wear this dresses just for yourself you are worth it. So do it for you😊😊

Interested to know if you are self-taught or mom-
taught or formally trained? You use some pretty sophisticated (in my eyes, anyway) techniques for being 19. Or your instincts are on point, because you do an EXCELLENT job. Your finishing methods, your troubleshooting--I'm seriously impressed. My mom sewed beautifully but I took it into designing what I made. My big sisters would raid MY closet! This craft is one you practice--every project a new lesson. I'll be 65 next month and you young sewers are teaching ME things! Well done, my dear.

I came out beautiful! I'm literally finishing a cinderella dress today! it's also crystal organza and has a corset back. The bodice was so hard to sew, it puckered and shifted like crazy! You're braver than me lol, I'm not hemming my monster of a gown.

I love your work I make dresses for very large women who are in long term medical homes. I make my own patterns also. Mine are so pretty one of a king. They can be warn as a night gown and regular dresses. I have learned alot of sewong tips even through I have been sewing for 50 years. Thank you for what you do
Beautiful Dress I found a tip for trimming accurately was told to hang the dress over night which gives chance for all the bias to stretch and settle then measure from the floor

I've seen paper used as a foundation for basting the very lightest fabrics onto, torn away once sufficient stability is achieved by sewing.

Where (and when) did you learn to sew? You're crazy talented
Lovely dress and good instructions. You might find it easier to sew with pins if you put the pins perpendicular to the seam line, with the heads sticking out of the seam - you can sew up very close to the pins and simply pull them out as you get near.

The dress looks beautiful. Just a small suggestion, try to use pins vertically instead of horizontaly so you don't have to take them out while sewing.

IMPORTANT QUESTION what tension did you sew the organza at? I'm trying a 1-2 and even that seems tight
I sewed it at like 3 or 4 and it worked fine for me!

You can get really cheap appliqué on aliexpress. Takes a while to get to you but they save you money. Just make sure to read the reviews and find the right seller.
