Thank you so much for this video! I saw some woven pieces on Pinterest with this technique and was going crazy trying to find out how it was done. Amazing!
Oh wait! You're THAT Pipyr! I've been a fan of your glass work for a long time (and bought a tutorial--on eyes, I think). Now I need to go weave AND melt some glass!
I have watched your video agian. I'm new too, very new. anyway, did you thread the whole loom with neat pattern, but treadled plain tabby/weave untill you wanted to put in the inclusion, then you treadled the inclusion pattern? Does that question make sense? Hope so
Sorry, I just saw this! Yes, that's exactly it! The pattern also weaves plain weave (as many do) on shaft 1+3 and 2+4, so the whole width is threaded for the pattern and I'm just plain weaving until I I want to place the inlay yarn :)
I love it! I do not totally understand how it works... your pattern draft is for the four shafts, so how is that you can weave just plain weave and not the pattern when using them to create the inlay? Thanks for your help, I would love to try this technique :)
Sorry for the delayed response! The pattern only shows with the corresponding treadling sequence. If I weave shafts 1+3 together and 2+4 together, it creates plain weave. This is true for many weaving patterns :)
I love this idea, but I'm not quite understanding. Does the inlay design show on both sides? Does the extra thickness cause the fell line to bulge up? I'm also curious how you got the red design to look so geometric, compared to the other white one. Was it threaded differently on that side of the warp? thank you for your time.
The inlay does show on both sides! I haven't had any issues with the fell line, much to my surprise and slightly to my dismay, actually. I would love to get some funky stuff happening here and there. Ah, well :) The red design was simply treadled differently, in more of a monk's belt fashion. I would use one treadle for 4-5 shots of the pattern and then switch to another treadle and do the same (with the tabby in between, of course). It was threaded for the same pattern all the way across :)
+Laura Moszer The whole thing is threaded that way. From what I can tell, the technique will work with any threading that offers a true plain weave in addition to a pattern :)
Thanks for sharing. Have been trying to do this on a rigid heddle loom and your video helps!

I love your work. Thanks for sharing how you did this technique.
Timely video....I was just thinking about doing this and wanted to see how others did it! Thanks. Very clear audio and video, too. Nice.
+Judy Fearn Awesome, I hope it helps!

+Judy Fearn Haha I'm everywhere! ;)
very interesting technique, what a wonderful way to add an accent to a piece.
Good, clear and straightforward demonstration of this technique. Thank you!
+Melanie Sharp I hope it's helpful for you! :)
This is amazing! Thank you. Im a new weaver and that's out of my abilities but its so inspiring!
De unde ai procurat Războiul ???
What a great idea!! Very inspiring!
Lovely! I'll be giving this a try soon. Thank you for taking the time to share :-)
That is such a cool idea.
vielen vielen Dank, eine wundervolle Technik und toll erklärt
This is a lovely idea. I must try it soon! Thanks.

what is the name of the book you are using? where can I buy it?
Love your work! What kind of loom do you use to wave this work with such thinner threads? Thank you.

Thanks Pipyr! I already did it :) watching your video twice was really useful :)

СУПЕР! БРАВО МАСТЕРУ! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Teach us a neveditura. How do you go through ite in the war of tissue. Show us please
Have you tried doing an picture inlay
how did you know which treads to pick up when you lay the tread in the wrap?
It can be any that suit your fancy :)
I am a bit confused. I do not understand the threading and treadling of an 8 shaft pattern on a 4 shaft loom. Help!
It is a 4 shaft overshot pattern :)
Are you threading the pattern draft across all the ends or just the place with the inclusion? Nice work.
+Laura Moszer The whole thing is threaded that way. From what I can tell, the technique will work with any threading that offers a true plain weave in addition to a pattern :)
What size yarn are you using
