    I had a 2001 KLR250 too. Wish I still had it. Mine had 2 warranty issues. One BIG, one fairly minor. A piece of silicone sealer from engine assembly broke loose, plugged the oil supply to the top end, and wiped out the cam, head, rockers, etc, etc. Kawasaki fixed for free (though it took forever). hen the water pump seal went out and leaked oil. Again, free under warranty. After those issues, it ran great and was just s fine motorcycle.

    sad news to everyone my KLR was stolen about 2 weeks ago from my apartment complex ='( I miss her dearly, she was my first bike and I planned to keep her forever; such a trusty steed. Some day I will get another one exactly the same as her, but for now I am saving for a bigger enduro. I am thinking of getting another KTM EXC but probably a fatty 4 stroke 520exc instead of another 2 stroke, that way I can have a supermoto on the streets for work and a solid trail bike for offroad. Let me know what you think...

    Yeah, it should do pretty well. I weigh about 150-160 lbs. and it pulls me up to about 80-85 mph on the road. It does very well off road as well.. I really can't complain about this bike; I enjoy it

    Sorry to hear it was stolen, I have the exact same bike, even a 2001. I park it at an apt. complex as well and am always nervous it is going to be gone one day. Do you have a different sprocket? It looks like you're rpms are lower than mine at higher speeds.

    • @RajFallen
      @RajFallen  9 лет назад

      +Nick Vee yep thats what happened to me; filled her up with gas at like 1 a.m. , went to bed, got up at 9a.m. and she was gone. it fucking sucks I loved that klr so much. And Nope I had original stock sprockets

    How many miles do you have on it now? I’m thinking about buying one but I’m not sure how many miles they last for and how good they are reliability wise.

    • @RajFallen

      I put 15k miles on it before it got stolen. The thing was a tank and never let me down.

    I am interested in getting into dual sport motorcycles. The type of riding I would be doing is commuting with the occasional off-road adventure (80/20). Does the Kawasaki KLR 250 handle speeds of 55 mph comfortably without ragging the engine or full throttle?

    • @RajFallen
      @RajFallen  10 лет назад +1

      I weigh about 160 and ride with 50/50 tires and my KLR 250 can ride steady at 70mph with the tach at 6000 rpms where red line isn;t until 9500rpms I believe.

    Hey, I don't know if you reply to this video still but can these things do highway speeds? (65+) I see a ton for real cheap around me and they all look well taken care of but I need more of a commuter, thanks to anyone with any insight!

    • @RajFallen
      @RajFallen  8 лет назад +2

      +Spiritual Pathways hell yeah they can! I moved out to northern california, north bay area and the champ would pull me and my girlfriend fully loaded with equipment at like 75mph for an hour or two straight down to half moon bay. KLR was amazing single cylinder 250cc that could pull double its weight and more and get you up to 80 maybe 85mph if downhill when you needed most without blowing up. God I beat the hell out of that dog on the way down to SF so many times. Pushing around 6k RPM's for an hour or more.

    hi. have you made medium distance trip (200 or 300 km) with the klr 250? I would like to know if it is comfortable for such distances. thanks..

    • @RajFallen
      @RajFallen  9 лет назад +2

      +Pablo A. Rossi hey there, the longest trip I have made with the KLR 250 was around 420 miles so I think that is almost 700 km. It really depends what kind of roads you are taking, on our long ride we took a lot of back roads to avoid having to keep up with traffic on the highways. We also road through the night, leaving around 10PM and arriving early in the morning to avoid traffic as well. We took mostly back roads with speeds around 55-65 mph (85-105 kmh) with some highway going around 70-80 mph (110-130 kmh). We were also fully loaded to go camping so are bikes were weighed down a bit but it was also nice because our stuff kind of gave us a back rest to lean on. It was definitely a long ride and our asses were sore but it was doable. My buddy was on his old '96 Yamaha XT 350. Anyway, 200-300km should be a piece of cake for the KLR.

      RajFallen You still have this bike? Watched this vid years back, you somewhat contributed to my decision buying a 2001 klr 650. Have not looked back man, great bike. Solid bikes.

    • @RajFallen
      @RajFallen  9 лет назад

      offroadvehiclelover yep I still got her, she's got about 12k miles on her now; I;m figuring I'm going to keep her as long as I can and eventually hand her down since she was my first bike. The klr is just too solid to let go even if I have faster/funner bikes I like to keep the 250 on stand by.

    How tall are you?

    • @RajFallen
      @RajFallen  8 лет назад

      +Jay Gatsby hey sorry I never saw this comment; I'm not that tall probably around 5'10"; I raised the stock suspension to its highest point once I got used to riding. It really rode much better with a stiffer rebound especially offroad. And I think it looked a lot better with no sag in the suspension.
