It would definitely be nice to preview your ship's interior before committing to the change. If Bethesda adds that, the shipbuilding would be a game in and of itself and absolutely murder the fun I had with Tears of the Kingdom's Ultrahand building.
Love this design. Agree with you on the whole ladder thing. Needs to be more stair options and I’d like to see when you link two rooms side by side, there’s an option to make it one large room. Also, it would be nice if the pieces had a description of what’s included in that particular hab.
Honestly, I wish there was a way to go inside the ship and completely customize the look of the interior. Imagine being able to change the interior paint color, or make the whole ship or select habs look less "industrial" and more like a fancy penthouse or something, with wood or marble paneling, and stuff like that. Stuff like that already exists with jets, in the real world, so why not spaceships in Starfield?
@@edwhatshisname3562surely something like this is planned for DLC. If it was included day 1, how could they sell you the DLC that’s supposed to have around holidays? 😂

YES! I found the refinement that I really needed - Stroud has a port/starbord side landing bay!! I'm not sure if you just have to go to the S-E Staryards in Narion or if it's level locked (32) but I got it. My major gripe with all Rear doc ships is that you have to run the full length twice every time to come back to the ship (assuming no fast travel). By extending the engine pods with an extra (structural) cowling just in front of the port & starboard landing gear - you can add the side bay which I have entering into the port side 2x2 living space - it's a short walk to the stair and up to the cockpit. No more rear loading bays for me until someone gives us a mod to land with the Bay toward the ramp.
maybe you should show more of it on camera instead of saying "I upgraded this off camera" or "I did this and that and i moved that there and i put it there" without actually doing it on cam which makes it extremely confusing for someone who isnt an expert with the ship builder to follow the tutorial.
Hey little advise, when selecting multiple pieces connected to each other you don't actually have to select all pieces individually but just hold control and click twice on any piece and it'll highlight all pieces connected to that piece.
i spent hours in the ship builder trying to get the access points and ladders in the right spot... i didnt realize you could just click the attach point and get an idea of what habs will have an access point or ladder to that point!! wish i watched this sooner haha also a note for anyone who reads this, yes you can fully build a ship that you cant travel through, and the only way you can get to the cockpit is from the docking bay.. i found out the hard way and had to completely rebuild my ship several times lol

If you are having any problems with it saying modules not connected, you can highlight your ship in red by double clicking anywhere. If something isn't connected it won't be red. Makes it way easier to see what the problem is.
Remember to build your two levels separately. Once you have it the way you want it, then take the complete level and attach it to the bottom, then take the complete upper level and attach it to the top. This will ensure the two levels only connect at the bridge like you want. Unless you don't, then ladder it up.
@thegunslingerflakboi3035 Really? I'll have to test it more. It has worked on several ship builds for me. They have to be the absolute last things you install. And you have to go into the ship for it to first time render, or whatever, populate.
Doesn't work for me either. Excellent build and great guide! Just thought I'd mention there is a "buy back" feature for all deleted modules. This includes modules that are not normally available at a location and/or exceed your skills. If it was on your ship when you started editing you have a limited opportunity to buy it back. Buy back modules have default colors if added back to your ship. Buy back modules are scrapped and lost forever upon exiting the ship builder.
Wow, just wow. I absolutely love this design. Amazing job!!! Update: I used a lot of your ideas and crafted the ship of my dreams. My ship ended up looking a lot like the Steamrunner class ship from Star Trek First Contact. I can't thank you enough for this amazing idea.
I modified my Razorleaf with that bridge and I love it. The ability to go either "floor" of your ship from the cockpit is insane. I had the armory that was really cool, but after spending time getting all my weaponry in there proper, it all disappears when you go to edit the whole ship again, so bye-bye armory. I would go after the Star Eagle, but I love how the Spacers fear you in the Mantis ship.
I got really fed up of spacers running away when they see my ship, I had 3 attacking me and I was about to destroy all 3 but they fled right at the last moment
Two minutes into your video and I knew I was going to used your guide to build this ship as soon as I get home from work. Amazing ship and thanks for sharing. I will like & subscribe, thanks for the vid.
Nice work. The ship bulding system is a lovely idea, I really do like it. But it feels so unfinished. Not only can we not 'save' builds like blueprints without having to apply and pay for changes... I wish we could also 'preview' our builds, being to walkthrough it before commitng to the design.
Saved blueprints that survives New Game+ would be amazing. I would say make those blueprints shareable with other people, but that opens the door to people stealing other people's hard shipbuilding work and not giving them credit.
You can also get a very speedy and maneuverable A class ship by purchasing the Warhorse in Neon. There are a lot of upgrades to make it a beast. Add four 3310 neutrons and a pair of EMPs and you are ready to rock. Also swap in a control center and you can crew it with 5. Powerplant is only 1 under the Eagle. Unfortunately you'll be level locked for upgrading the shields which will also require Starship Design 4 to swap out. Supposedly there is a A class powerplant that provides 40 power but think it is level locked till level 52 to appear in vendors. You can swap that into either the Star Eagle or the Warhorse.
What would be better instead of ladders what about lifts when you step on them you go up then step on it and you go down etc or stairs and a mess hall is a good add on to the ship at the back behind the battle stations 2x2 as the mess hall is 3x2😊
If you all like Class A ships then you should be in love with Class B ships. Im now just about to re-purpose a recently purchased Class C ship. It will be a combat focused ship with enough jump distance and cargo to be useful. My main everyday Space Ride. Carry on.
Made this, love it. I would just recommend for the future mabye doing a less edited assembly section, mabye sped up if it's a video length issue. had to pause and go back a number of times to confirm specifics. Obviously I put my own take on it but this is great. Thanks ❤
Like the guide and gave me an idea for the next ship I'm building. There is 1 point that you should specify, people should try multiple habs types as they are all different and some are not equal to others. An example are the workshops: I did not test them all but the Deimos has 4 workstations (research, weapon, suit, industrial) while the Taylor does not have the research station
In case you didn't realize that when you have sections removed and you want to move it all together you can press select all. It will only select all the components that are attached.
First of all thank you for the design, I just finished it and Ireally like it so far. Secondly, I would appreciate it if you don't do some edits on the ships off-cam cause in the next videos because I kinda struggled a bit to know what did you change, thank you again.
Nice build. It really does flow well. Would be nice to see this build from a dead stock configuration as you said you had modified a little bit before this. I haven't even messed with ship building yet so it's a bit confusing.
I always delete the top center cowling on the engine assembly, and take the cargo bays, rotate the around to match the shape, and put them there. Got pretty much the exact same look, and frees up other areas to add on to.
Remember missiles. You only have to put one pip into them, and it still let's you fire a full salvo a few times. Sure, you won't be reloading during the fight, but it's great for really pooping on the first ship unlucky enough to get locked-on
6x Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector are laser weapons that has a range of 3000 meter, 6.65 attacks per second, and 11.54 damage to hull/shields per hit. They also costs only TWO energy to use, compared to every other laser weapons that has a cost of THREE. Which means you can have 6 of these guns instead of 4. Granted, the Beam Distortion Emitter has a range of 3500, half the rate of fire, but almost twice as much damage, but you only can have four of them. 3.5 attacks per second of 20 damage, versus 6.65 attacks per second of 11.54 damage? The VOA has finite ammo though, while the Beam Emitter cycles and shoots with a mild cooldown of like 0.28 seconds. When you get to Class B weaponry and modules, Beam Turrets that has a range of 3000 are insanely good, you can place them facing a direction and they will have roughly a 90 degree cone in a 3000 meter distance to shoot at anything, even enemies outside of your lock-on or camera.
Thank you for making this - i know you do alot of games - but you were my Go-To for all cyberpunk stuff -- I'm soo happy your doing starfield- thank you
The only good reason for having the entry at the front of the ship is so that you don't have to run clear to the rear of the ship if you're cargo is full and you're overburden, that's a long slow walk when at city ports.
get the personal astmoshere power it fully regens your oxygen and give you about 5 seconds of no o2 loss i was able to most run around with 500kg of cargo
I followed your other guide for the razor leaf build, I struggled with errors for awhile but I think it glitched out because I managed to get max stats on Par, max stats on Lasers and 3 quarters on missiles. Was able to place 4 lasers, 4 beams and 3 missiles. Maybe I’m wrong and you can place that many on other builds but it normally says weapons using too much power.
While you can buy back components that you have deleted at a shipyard that doesn't actually sell those, it's always better not to delete parts you're going to re-use because I believe it costs a bit to buy them back. I'm not also 100% sure this works if item class is higher than you can fit, haven't tested that.
I stole a Va'ruun Hymn ship that has 2 x 500 capacity fuel stores and then heavily modded it. Its pretty much this ship but with lower shield because I haven't found a higher class A shield yet but it can jump 26 LY 😎
Thanks so much for this video. I am not going to turn this game into ship building simulator but I needed to invest into a solid endgame ship. I built my ship above the landing bay instead of what you did but I followed the template for the bridge and habs. Perfect layout. Sinking 4-6 hours into building this ship was not only fun but will make the rest of the game so much more enjoyable. I got a perfect ship... only thing for the future is perhaps needing more storage. I can make it longer and add more low level storage but not sure how I'll keep up the jump range with A class skill. Can you cheat the hull capacity but putting things in crates around the ship?
I love how smoothly the cockpit connects two floors however these wide open bridge-type cockpits appear more like you're on a massive containership and in my eyes that cockpit seems a bit bulky on the star eagle frame. For fighting ships I prefer the more narrow jet type HopeTech cockpits. All personal preference tho, I love that there are slowly more step by step guides like this coming, I am always enjoying some inspo😊
I agree. I was really hoping there was a 2 story hopetech cockpit to fill a similar function, but there isnt :(. im sure modders will make stuff though
Not really the best tutorial but I appreciate it nonetheless. Would have been good to do it with the unmodified version that most people will be using to follow along. Also at some points you aren't very clear about which parts should be kept or how to put it back together to move to the next modification site. I like the build and I'm thankful for your effort so I'll figure it out.
4x the 3300 EB are all you need in the game as they will melt all ships with ease. You can keep one suppressor for boarding but otherwise nothing else is required. Also, the range on those is bugged or tooltip error as they are 4000; not 3500. This means at a range of 4k you can shoot and kill any ship without return fire, absolutely broken.
Love this cockpit, but it has one fatal flaw. My companions aimlessly stand in front of the glass window while I fly. Hopefully someone releases a mod that forces them all to sit.
what really annoys me with the ship buildung is the doors in the bays that the game places like it wants to. you can have 3 modules in a row with some on the sides and instead of having 1 passing corrirdor from north to south, you have to navigate a maze inside the ship
i'd just add to make sure you get ship design 1 before building, im at 0 and a lot of options are missing. omw to farm a level to unlock it now, 13 min into the guide lmao. absolutely love how the build is so fluid though, thank you :) edit: dang, i got ship design 1 and rested and those weapons are not showing up from that vendor :( ill use the cheap ones for now until i upgrade to level 4 and get those bougie ones.
Are the weapon racks still glitched? You lose the weapons you display (they disappear if you leave the ship and go back in). They I believe are actually invisible because you can't store anything on the weapon racks seemingly empty.
A lot of comments already, awesome ship, following this guide now :D However, at 10:11-10-12 did you mean 'all in one 3x1' instead of 3x3? Awesome guide thank you so much!!
4 months, feels like a lot longer :) I'm back and I guess I liked your build before and I did just get the Mantis that made the fight to get the star Eagle possible. And I do like the simple build we did to the Mantis except on the rebuild I lost my bed and I officially now hate the mantis but even more because it has a cargo hold of like 360 and that is horrible. So I think you went to high tech for me to buy those better weapons but the 3300's worked great on the Mantis so I guess I will try them again. I know last time I did this I lost one of the pacifiers and its quality I could not at the time replace it so that made me sad, one must be careful what ones deletes and the Mantis does have a 19 jump length which I like and it seems to have a farther range the the starter ship, so that way also nice, and maybe I could just have added a couple small cargo pods to the ship so I didn't have to drop like 100's of items on the floor. Anyway :) Oh but now I also have to go off and build a base on a planet. LOL this is like 32 hours to get 30 minutes of progress. LOL maybe I won't change the ship just the weapons and be happy :) Thanks
Makes a ship building guide for an A class ship, something beginners will use for their first ship. Then proceeds to go into advanced shipbuilding. 10:47 exactly
How the heck do you jump from place to place for the different parts? I cannot find a save button and the ship builder only allows me to finish the build or exit(delete).
@_TheFancyBear_ @@Darkwing8707 The astrodynamics skill increases your jump range. Level one increases the range on this ship from 15ly to 17ly, so presumably he has a point in that skill

Really like this design. I followed everything, at least Im pretty positive I did but its saying I can only have 4 crew instead of the 5 it shows for you. Any idea what I might have screwed up?
how do you board other ships? I tried disabling the ships but they always blow up or never gives me an option. also any way to customize the inside of the ship?
you get the skill to target individual ship parts and then target their engines. Once they're immobilized you can board them just like any space station
Playin on console and I just can’t get my doors in the right spot didn’t want to do a full copy of your model but did and still the flow of the ship is not the same. For example I can’t get the door to show up from 3x1 all in 1 to 2x2 living quarters.
@tagbacktv Just a thought. If this game is simalarly built to Skyrim, then instead of waiting for the vendor money to renew, in Skyrim if you saved the game, attacked the vendor and reloaded your save, it'd refresh the inventory and money. Worth a try if you haven't!

Quick way to tell if you can rebuy whatever part you are considering removing is to try to duplicate it. If it lets you duplicate it you can buy it
I stole a Va'ruun Hymn ship that has 2 x 500 capacity fuel stores and then heavily modded it.
What a ship! I am building this one tonight!
I tried to follow the guide but there’s to much editing
I love how smoothly the cockpit connects two floors however these wide open bridge-type cockpits appear more like you're on a massive containership and in my eyes that cockpit seems a bit bulky on the star eagle frame. For fighting ships I prefer the more narrow jet type HopeTech cockpits. All personal preference tho, I love that there are slowly more step by step guides like this coming, I am always enjoying some inspo😊
I agree. I was really hoping there was a 2 story hopetech cockpit to fill a similar function, but there isnt :(. im sure modders will make stuff though
I mean - the amount of cargo capacity on this it kind of is a chunky fighting hauler.
Wow that looks great. I hate that u can't see whats inside the habitats
What ship part, with the 2 holes you have front on top of the ship? It look so nice.
shroud engine brakes. You can get it in the ship builder from your outpost landing pad builder. Its under structural.
Are the weapons available based on player level? Been all over and can't find those Particle Beam weapons anywhere! I'm only level 18 atm btw.
you need level 36 I think
Hey, i was wondering what ship part you have in front of Tokamak X-300 Reactor? I don't think you showed it in the video
Stroud Braking Engine
Note for new players. You can only buy the star eagle after you complete the freestar rangers faction quest. So you can't get the ship straight away
i'd just add to make sure you get ship design 1 before building, im at 0 and a lot of options are missing. omw to farm a level to unlock it now, 13 min into the guide lmao.
absolutely love how the build is so fluid though, thank you :)
edit: dang, i got ship design 1 and rested and those weapons are not showing up from that vendor :( ill use the cheap ones for now until i upgrade to level 4 and get those bougie ones.
Are the weapon racks still glitched? You lose the weapons you display (they disappear if you leave the ship and go back in). They I believe are actually invisible because you can't store anything on the weapon racks seemingly empty.
Exactly the video I've been waiting for! Appreciate all the hard work you put into it
You could upgrade the grav drive. 17ly isn't that much.
I was looking online at these vids and definitely like how you built this and the explanations you gave for the why each goes where.
is there a way to revert the ship to it's default look once you feel like it? Thank you!
A lot of comments already, awesome ship, following this guide now :D However, at 10:11-10-12 did you mean 'all in one 3x1' instead of 3x3? Awesome guide thank you so much!!
I dont understand why, but my outpost shipbuilder doesnt have some parts to sell, both Distruptor 3310 and 3300 no availble to buy.
Really awesome ship build! But how on earth does he connect the He3 tanks to the engine mount?
The landing bay place is very hard to get from ground , i have to go all around the ship just to get to the landing bay .
the design in this is amazing thanks!
If you also fit the Helios 400 Grav Drive you get a1 25LY jump range
On the Star Eagle, Can you switch the laser from the Y button to RT on an Xbox? Thanks.
Makes a ship building guide for an A class ship, something beginners will use for their first ship. Then proceeds to go into advanced shipbuilding. 10:47 exactly
Love the design! Definitely will use when I unlock the Star Eagle. However, what do I need my Starship Design level to be?
The cargo upgrade alone on this badboy made me giggle like a little schoolgirl =) Always full everywhere. Thanks for the guide. You earned my sub. =)
It won't let me attach the extra fuel tanks to the engine mounts. The fuel tanks just have a node on top.
Did you find a fix for this? Having trouble too
What system did you go to for the weapons? Did I miss something?
Mine has mass trouble?? Maybe you know how to fix it.. I followed every step that you've showed
How the heck do you jump from place to place for the different parts? I cannot find a save button and the ship builder only allows me to finish the build or exit(delete).
How did you get your jump range to 17LY, followed your exact build and mine is only 15LY
Same here. Did you ever figure it out?
@_TheFancyBear_ @@Darkwing8707 The astrodynamics skill increases your jump range. Level one increases the range on this ship from 15ly to 17ly, so presumably he has a point in that skill
im currently driving a custom c class with 38 mobility, 4000 cargo, 2 maxed laser guns, and maxed shield. the og ship is called the narwhal and its found on neon
dang, what killed the mobility so bad? should be able to get that up a ton and add more cargo too.
It doesn't have strong enough engines
@@TagBackTv like 3500 shield cargo haha. But the thing rips anything that gets close to it cause you can max out 2 guns with basically a full shield setup that comes with it
@@Nightlordford I'm not sure how to get more on it. It says too much power is being used on engines if I add more
on a class C you should be able to add some stronger engines, then you can add a lot more cargo too :D
HOW THE HELL DID YOU ATTACH THE HE FUEL TANK TO THE STROUD ENGINE MOUNT!?!
Same... my tanks only have top and bottom connectors
He mentions it later in the video he made a mistake. My bad I was copying this spacecraft build minute by minute. Great! Aircraft.
@@kaidiekaidie1825 Yeah I was doing the same. I ended up using a different piece than he did.
Like this! Would be great to have a parts list
which staryard did you get theproton beams from? kind of skipped over that in the video chief
Same I can't find them.
Thanks. I made a variant of your ship, and it is great, especially the coxkpit
Not related to the video but you can sell contraband in Red Mile. If you walk into the gambling den itself and talk to the lady behind the counter you can sell contraband.
I cant connect the He3 Tank to the Engine Mount. I can only connect it from under but not the back
What is that top piece you have inbetween the two stroud engine mounts in the middle?
What skills do I need to have to do this? I currently got shipdesigner lvl 1
Just a heads up, (Do not put your favorite weapons in the armory on ship, if you edit your ship you might lose all of them!)
Yep lost my old world shotgun and Ak47
Even if you don’t edit. They disappear just randomly. I lost all my legendary quest guns and only noticed after the last save where they were still there was 5 hours old
I put my gun in the cpatains locker, will it be OK there?
I think it's moves a lot of the loose items into the cargo if you edit a ship
I doesn't get rid of them, it just puts them in the cargo
I recently noticed that Ecliptic ships have plenty of expensive weapons on their armory(prob scales with lvl) when you board them
All in one berth 3x1 doesn't have a door to living area unsure why
@TagBackTV what level where you when you built this ship?
Is there another requirement to get that disruptor 3310 proton beam as I have starship design 1 but I still can’t see it in the shop?
same issue
@@KwisatzHaderach77 I’m pretty sure shop parts are all level gated and some are skill gated.
Going to need to level up more, I’m only at 15
@@KwisatzHaderach77actually I pushed my starship design to level 4 and that proton beam appeared at either level 2 or 3. So maybe just a bug?
Where do you get the strand engine mounts?
I have them, but they don't look like his. Mine only have the "tubing" sticking out the back. The front is just flat
Couldn't get it to work for me as it kept telling me there is no connection between the rear landing bay and the cockpit when there clearly is. Did not see the all in one berth 3x3 so will try something else if I can solve the landing bay issue.
the video did not capture the middle pieces that you added to the top? what is next to the reactor?
Stroud Braking Engine
Has anyone been able to get the ‘add’ prompt when highlighting a connection point on console? Mine just gives the option to edit, and I’m not sure if this is a setting issue or a console limitation.
Really like this design. I followed everything, at least Im pretty positive I did but its saying I can only have 4 crew instead of the 5 it shows for you. Any idea what I might have screwed up?
How'd you get those specific fuel tanks attached to the engine mounts that way? They don't have an attach point there for me?
Never mind, didn't get far enough in to realize you moved them
I'd love to see a build with the Kepler R
how do you board other ships? I tried disabling the ships but they always blow up or never gives me an option. also any way to customize the inside of the ship?
you get the skill to target individual ship parts and then target their engines. Once they're immobilized you can board them just like any space station
do I need my own ship builder to finish this build? I got all the way to that part but I don't have my own ship builder
Playin on console and I just can’t get my doors in the right spot didn’t want to do a full copy of your model but did and still the flow of the ship is not the same. For example I can’t get the door to show up from 3x1 all in 1 to 2x2 living quarters.
@tagbacktv
Just a thought. If this game is simalarly built to Skyrim, then instead of waiting for the vendor money to renew, in Skyrim if you saved the game, attacked the vendor and reloaded your save, it'd refresh the inventory and money. Worth a try if you haven't!
probably works lol. will have to give it a try
@@TagBackTv keep up the great content you beautiful manbeast! Thanks for all you do!
