Lyrics
Distant populations going nowhere
So far away from us, you wouldn’t know where
Opposite of you, opposite of me
Generations leveled and taken by the sea
Inversion
10 thousand saints who haven’t got a chance
Invisible people in a sacred expanse
What is it with you? What is it with me?
Distant populations you never even see
Out of sight, out of mind
Willingly blind Inversion
So far away from us

Epitaph Records is an artist-first indie label founded in Los Angeles by Bad Religion guitarist, Brett Gurewitz. Early releases from a variety of punk heavyweights helped launch the 90s punk explosion. Along the way, Epitaph has grown and evolved creatively while sticking to its mission of helping real artists make great recordings on their own terms.

I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING AFTER HEARING IT 3 TIMES.... "INVERSION".... the chord structure in the VERSE and the chords in the CHORUS are almost exactly the same, but "BACKWARD" (pun intended)... therefore, the title... INVERSION makes perfect sense!! in fact, they ARE the same (this goes to anyone with knowledge of Relative Major or Relative Minor)... as the 3rd Chord in verse, which is Dflat major... BUT in the chorus, it starts backwards on B flat (5)(no major or minor), which is the relative minor to Dflat Major. so therefore, it actually IS a complete "INVERSION".... Very clever, Walter. You are a SUPERGENIUS (another pun intended) but true!!
Somebody check this...
I’m not a music theory kind of guy but that sounds cool.
I dont know what the fuck you just said but you special. soumds neato
So many 90s bands have become mock versions of themselves, without bringing something new to the table. Quicksand is out here making something vital and engaging as opposed to just becoming their own tribute band like so many others. 👏
TSMT them and Hum
Discography goes with me everywhere I go. Walter Schreifels is my spirit animal!
Fuck yeah, Quicksand is back once again. Killer track, bring on another full length album.
They've heard you.
This track is AWESOME... I'm very disappointed with a lot of the rest of the album.. I think they spent a good amount of time on a few of the songs, but the rest weren't very well thought out... HOWEVER, the previous album, which is very polished, has some beautiful atmospherics on it, but NONE of the aggression that THIS does. So, it proves two things : a) Theyre more melodic than a lot of people ever knew and B:) they can F*ucking ROCK STILL!!! I think next album will hit somewhere in between. I had the awesome opportunity of buying a bottle of water for Walter onstage, and shaking his hand as they left stage, as I was leaning on the foldback speaker the whole time. Loved them since 1993, one of the best hard rock bands EVER to exist.
Quicksand 2021, who would have thunk!!
Nice to hear Walter yell his vocals again!! great track!
Reminds me a bit of Jane's Addiction, but with Quicksand making the song up. ;) Great song! Powerful guitars!
I pretty much get giddy when I hear a new Quicksand song! keep killing it boys!
My buddy just turned me on to these guys... where the fuck has this been all my life?!?! This is amazing
The Rival Schools stuff was pretty awesome too
👍🏼
It's been there since 93
@@jedmarsillo the sounds on their last few records are amazing.
@Monte Arnstam their First LP 'Slip' will Change your Life.
Absolutely. I got into them when Slip came out in 93 and still rate it among my very favorite albums of all time. Walter was also in Youth of Today and other hardcore bands.
Thank you, Walter..Thank you so much..
Just started to listen to this group
Mmm, new Quicksand, nice song! 🤘🏼
anyone else wish walter woulda sung like this on interiors? this is great!!!
Yes
Walter delivers the top riffage once again 👌
Absolutely fucking incredible again hey pal??!!🤌🤌
@@davidrawcliffe4069 quality Dave. Can't wait for more. That riff gives me the feels 😍
I really hope a full album is coming on the back of that💪💪
Album is a masterpiece. Long time fan of the Sand. 🤘🏻🎱🤘🏻
THIS is EXACTLY what I've been waiting for since 1995. AWESOME!!
Love this band so much..
These new songs are amazing. Thank god for quicksand
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! MORE MORE MORE!!! PLEASE!!
This is a pleasant surprise. I like what I'm hearing. 👍👍
Quicksand always at the top
Wonderful guitar sound and such a bass groove. Amasing.
I'm ready to see this band perform this live. It's been too long ..
They ran through Portland co-headlining with GlassJAw in July 2018. It’s sacrilege, but for the sake of transparency I was double booked. After GlassJAw’s set I had to sprint my arse a mile uphill to just barely arrive a sweaty mess to see a Bill Burr stand-up show. Billy knew who Quicksand was; asked me where they’d be tomorrow after calling me a dope for leaving early to see him. I explained it was in my best interest and pointed to my girlfriend at the time.
My favorite song on this record.
Hell yeah fuckin love this band
I'm not sure that for better or worse there is anything 90s about this... It's just amazing.
Back with a bang! This is excellent.
Awesome!
thank god for Quicksand!!. memories when everything was perfect and real!!. growing up with Walter .
Thanks Quicksand. A nice and heavy shot.
Great! Keep it up fellas!
Yep QuickSand, very nice the sound, Tchuss
What a killing tune from the start! They got back that Quicksand 90's unique riffs/atmosphere
Cool
Love this
Loving everything about this
Best rock album of 2021
THIS! This is the Epitaph I know and love! Well done, djentlemen! ✌🖤🤘
Prog fan here 😁?
@@quietri0t, I'm a fan of most anything Rock'n'roll, so just as long as it's not like Country, Pop, or Rap. 🤘
Ahhhhh!!! I LOVE HOW HARD this Quicksand song hits!!!!!!!!
Love me some Quicksand!
Sounds great to me!
THEY ARE BACK!
More please!
Not many old school bands keeping it going. This one is kick ass
So happy about this!
Hell yeah
Seriously great song/video - play at 11 for maximum effect
Awesome stuff 👌
I ❤️ this album EH
👊🏽 GREAT 👊🏽
Very nice ^^
Holy SHIT - please let there be news of an upcoming LP to get me thru this summer. This track is SICK!!!!!
OMG this is as good as anything they've ever done
On repeat.
Yesssssss
This sure rocks my socks!
Que chilo!!!!
Neat!
Oh I see Christmas came early this year!!!
EPIC
This is so good!
very cool just discovered you guys
god i fucking love this band
Made my fucking day
Walter is the MASTER of Dissonance. So when a section happens with a musically correct melody (talking theory here), it's almost like it reaches some kind of resonant RESOLVE. Then of course, back to the musical but beautiful dissonance.
This is the stuff
Excellent tune! Here's my tour idea. Quicksand, Oceansize, Failure, HUM and throw in Helmet for good measure. You tell me that tour wouldn't sell out every show? If you do, I hate you. Hhaha. Also, if you don't know who Oceansize is...you do now and go hunt for their music. You'll be very happy you did.
I would throw Spotlights in there too. If you don´t know them shame on you ;)
I can only breathe so heavily...
The list is missing Jawbox.
HELL YEAHHHH
pure 90´s flavour. tasty and hot
Tune is a banger and so poignant. The lyrics seem to deal with the West's willful ignorance of the struggles of the less fortunate in the Global South. Worthy subject to scream about.
Fuck yes I'm super grateful....Vampire Mooose approved fucking love Quicksand
So is the new album out in other countries? RUclips has them all but not available in US...but release date is Aug???
This almost has a Snapcase sound to the vocals
I want to destroy my drum kit to this song, then pause and have a glass of cold milk. It will be satisfying, yes, much satisfaction indeed gentlemen.
Like an old friend 😊
Quicksand Messenger Service
f.yes!!!!!!!!!!!
So someone tried to tell me recently that the Smashing Pumpkins are still great, and doing justice to the great era that is the 90's alt rock movement.... and I'm like er.. NO. Why? Quicksand. that's why. ....
TSP has gone to shyte. IDK WTF that synth-pop BS is that they recently released, but it's utter shyte.
@@Ayrdanger It's baffling isn't it. Rather than refine and do what they do best, they seem to be trying to constantly re-invent themselves to very odd effect..
I wish you'd be wrong, but yes. SP chose a strange direction and simply don't represent the sound of my teenage years anymore.
@@Ayrdanger I unfortunately agree with you. The album they did in 2012 was pretty good but after that Billy Corgan became too hooked on incorporating electronic music into the band. Even Adore still had a good guitar sound compared to their most recent album
If you don’t like vocally and melodically centered music backed by drum and bass with synths filling in the textures, then fine, you probably wouldn’t like SP’s new stuff- BUT, if the reason you don’t like their new stuff is simply because you perceive it as an extension of Gish, Siamese Dream etc., then you are doing a disservice to yourself and disrespecting the art by disallowing it to exist in it’s own individual context. No artist has an obligation to continue making the same or even similar art, and suggesting that they should is just selfish.
❤️ 🔥
Niiiiicccccccccccccceeee
🤘🏽💀🤘🏽
lessssgo babies
Ahhhh great track! Better than 90% of the last record! Psyched
Yeah that last album was not that great to my ears.
This needs Tom Capone so bad.
Pretty good, just wish it was mastered quieter so the instruments had more impact (especially the drums).
Awful mastering Jeeeeez
Still needs Capone
Agreed I hope he returns, if he can pull himself together
Capone is great, but nothing is missing from this. If it’s between getting no new Quicksand music or getting new Quicksand music without Tom, I’ll take the latter. Clearly the band always had creative tensions, but they’ve stayed together longer now than any period besides the first run, and they’ll pass the up soon. They can’t be what they were, but I’m loving who they are now. Tom is playing with John Joseph in the rebooted Bloodclot band. They made an album and Tom’s playing live with them. I think he did Beyond reunion stuff too. I wish him the best
@@thomasminarchickjr.7355 yeah I'll still take Quicksand without him I just hope he can get things in his life fixed
Well, this is a surprise...
UGH immediately with the stank face over here. See, when you have a band that truly had a distinct sound , they don't have to make huge drastic stylistic changes for things to stay quality and more important still fresh. This is 100 percent quicksand thru and thru, and you couldn't mistake it for ANYTHING else, yet it doesn't sound or feel at all like a rehash/them making something they've already made. That's a band with a sound their own
Thx I'll stay my own neighbor hood
That deplorable 90's shit. It takes me back.
same
i miss the heavy bass guitar sound and metal breakdowns.....just not the same as a three piece,
So much better than their last output. The last album was weak in my opinion
Whoever criticized the mastering of this being too loud is insane. Absolutely wrong. It's at worst, as good as they've ever sounded on a recording.
problem is, the bass is drowned so much in the music and drums are odd. cymbals sounds glued. it is odd, cause Interiors were a lot about heavy bass tone and pummeling drums.
Tom Capone is conspicuous by his absence, what a let down, once again.
a miss. wat too much in your face........big miss but great alen cage.
Damn rock is so trash now lol
Full album plz?!!! Amazing!
Love it.
Cool
