Unfortunately one great scene from Fate Babylonia is always overlooked due to how short it was. During one of the earlier episode's, there is a quick cut of Medusa (Fake Tiamat) using a single laser. That sound coming from my bass boosted boxes just feels so damned good, even though the entire scene does not last more then 3-5 seconds. Its at episode 8's start just after Merlin states he can't fight Medusa, for those that are wondering and want to check it out.
If there was ever a tournament of Sound Designers, Yasumasa Koyama would absolutely WIPE THE FLOOR with the competition with his absolute creamy eargasm-y sounds
Watch it, it's a great show. It got low in the ratings cause people want action-action-action and have the attention span of a 5 years old, while the anime has a lot of talking. But if your brain isn't that of a 5 years old you'll love it.
What others hear: boom, explosion What i hear: Scattering particles, sonic booms, lazer spreading, death of a sound barrier, huge major impact, inecrate, brutal vibration, overwhelming metal
SAO War for the underworld is fucking great, the sound design and animation is superb. 10/10 season, and the movies reflect that even more so. Nice to see a king in the anime series still be so good after all these years
That is why I started, and UBW is my fave anime to this day due to it. I love fight scene choreo and sound design, and Fate does both fucking spectacularly. Ufotable are gods.
Fate/Grand Order, Sword Art Online Alicization, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Fire Force, Tensei Slime, RE CREATORS, and Darwin's Game, all share the same SFX Director. Yasumasa Koyama is the reason all of these sound they way they do. He has a good quote "In Sci-Fi, sounds always attack with bass". His goal is to great an unnatural yet powerful bass effect in all of his works; it sells that something is Magical or Technological. Anytime you see an explosion, or a magic circle, or a laser, or a shockwave: you will hear Koyama's Attack and Bass. This isn't a bunch of unrelated anime that happen to sound similar. This is one man, reshaping the Anime Industry, around his vision of Sound Design.
If you want these sound effects I'm quite sure you will find a lot of them in the video copilot SFX packs, iirc I found a lot of them in Tensura at least. And I'd say Drago-Nova is very low on the eargasm scale relative to many of othe other scenes in that show, like for example Hinatas Disintegration from EP 31. (Which you will need subwoofer to actually hear/feel a lot of it, as it has a lot of long intervals of VERY low frequencies 0-50 and 50-100 according to the spectrogram in audacity) Entirely subjective of course.
Am I the only one that loves unique explosions? For example, Magical splash flare's weaker versions sound like gunshots even though they look like explosions. I love that because it then makes the larger one feel much more grand. If they had just done a generic explosion sound for the weaker version, the big one wouldn't have hit as hard.
it's like that in jojo. just watch jotaro vs josuke and listen carefully. same could be said for the seven page muda, golden experience isn't an extremely broken stand when it comes to strength which is why the sound of ge's punches are lighter compared to that of jotaro's star platinum and josuke's crazy diamond.
Id also add cero from bleach, find it to be divine plus that one effect from that one episode of mp100 I think it was the 5th one in the second season(Mogami fight) where Mogami makes a monster and Mob blasts its hand, after which the monster shoots lasers
