    Something I’ve noticed and has me really excited is that horizon. Even the largest planets in no man’s sky are still small enough to really notice that curve in the horizon. Where as here, the world is so large that horizon actually appears like what we see on earth. Very excited to see how they handle the world generation and how bioms are distributed.

    They neglected to comment on how pretty this actually is. It looks significantly more vibrant with less compromises to the graphics than in the average No Man's Sky planet. (Here's hoping they actually incorporate some of the effects here into No Man's Sky like the improved reflections and global illuimination).

    I wonder if we'll get a free base building system like Minecraft not locked behing claiming a base like in No Man's Sky. I'd understand why it could be useful but this would not allow cities etc to be built. Also this would feel like No Man's Sky, but fantasy (which would be great but we still need some changes).
    I'm sure they can find a way to make it so elements placed by one user cannot be destroyed, but still have a system for preventing trolls from abusing it through a hidding system. Still the place would remain not buildable, but the collision would be disabled.

    My concern is the launch window for this game. This is apparently a small development team and they could be launching at a time when there could be staggered next gen hardware releases. How will Hello games manage so many platforms if they anticipate a multiplatform launch.

    procedural generation is way more interesting. makes it feel like you're the first to discover something, because often you are. I think NMS does it fairly well and it's gotten better too. it's definitely the future for most open world games too, merge it with AI generation (for textures and meshes) and stuff gets very interesting and fun to discover.

      @@WildfireX i think for towns and anything human made it makes sense for some hand placement and crafting, but for nature itself i love it when it's just generated since its just how nature forms naturally and not by human hand. but generation itself can be good or bad too...

    2:53 When you said "random seed" you obviously don't have any idea what procedural generation means... "random generation" is the opposite of "procedural generation"

    • @paopao.
      @paopao. 5 месяцев назад

      @@dorian6021 You're literally proving my point. That seed is what generates everything in that world making it the 'procedural' part. Which means it is not random, the result will always be the same in that planet. You're confusing his quote (which is from NMS that has trillions of planets) for this game that only has a single planet. That means there is only a SINGLE seed for this planet therefore not making it random at all, since there's literally only one. It might not even be a single seed at all but a set of constant seeds that were playtested beforehand.

    • @paopao.
      @paopao. 5 месяцев назад

      @@dorian6021I missed the part where he was talking about NMS, I only heard the part where he said "random seed" and then a scene from LNF was shown. That was my bad.
      Although I'm pretty sure LnF won't be like terraria were the player seed will be randomly rolled for each player since that defeats what they're trying to make. I'm confident it will be similar to NMS in the sense that there will be a single planet (hence single seed or a set of constant seeds for that planet) and every player will be playing on that planet. The reasoning for this is the wording in Steam description of the game such "as persistent building" which means players will be able to see other players buildings.

    It's nice that Hello Games ended up fixing No Man's Sky, but they have NEVER apologized for building up hype for years via blatant lies, which led directly to many millions of dollars in pre-orders for a $60 AAA price tag (which is STILL the official price of the game). They did not offer refunds for those people they swindled. Instead we got cringy excuses about their shyness and lack of experience. I have not forgotten and have not forgiven and will not give them money. I would also put up a mirror before the gaming community and our biases. Look how angry we are at Fntastic for The Day Before. So why did some of us forgive Hello Games?

    • @shawnbyers6947
      @shawnbyers6947 5 месяцев назад +9

      Because unlike The Day Before scammers, Hello Games stuck around for 7 years patching their passion project, engaging with the community, and offering expansion sized updates most devs would charge for. Oh, and the game is forever on sale for half price or less and has been for years. Their launch sucked, I agree. But man, if you want to live your life holding deep grudges and pretending like you've never made a mistake, you do you buddy. They've more than made up for their mistakes and taken full ownership. At least now they can laugh about it. Maybe you should lighten up. Times have changed, and lessons have been learnt 💯 👌

    • @EmblemParade
      @EmblemParade 5 месяцев назад

      @@shawnbyers6947 They did not by any stretch "take full ownership" for their "mistakes" (a very charitable gloss over "lies"). No consumer got a refund (nor an apology, for what it's worth) while the small group of devs became multi-millionaires overnight. Meanwhile Fntastic refunded everybody, apologized, and folded.
      The only lesson learned here is that pre-orders based on false hype is a lucrative business model in the gullible gaming industry. So, times have not changed at all and this will keep happening because so many people are like you.
      BTW, I checked right now and NMS is $60 on the Sony store.

    • @gs8494
      @gs8494 5 месяцев назад +3

      I think people forgave them because they got their heads down and fixed their game, add to that 7 years of consistently good updates and additions, I mean they could've done the whole corporate triple A apology post that stops just short of admitting enough to justify not refunding the game and just pocket the cash. The situation with Fntastic and The Day Before isn't even close to comparable to NMS and Hello games and what they've gone on to do with the game.
      Fallout 76 - Bethesda
      Redfall - Arkane/Bethesda
      Cyberpunk - 2077 CDPR
      Star Wars battlefront 2 - EA
      Lord of the Rings Gollum - Daedlic
      Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy The Definitive Edition - Rockstar/2K
      Warcraft 3 reforged - Activision Blizzard
      That's just of the top of my head, and with the exception of Daedlic the biggest devs and publishers going, whereas at launch Hello games was 15 people, that said I would absolutely give Hello games a chance, they've proved they can deliver where most bigger studios would do the bare minimum to avoid any sort of refund or legal repercussions. I get your not happy but you could've picked a better target and comparison for your anger.

    • @EmblemParade
      @EmblemParade 5 месяцев назад

      @@gs8494 That other companies do worse does not justify Hello Games's atrocious behavior. You're just pointing out that there is a general problem in how gaming companies treat consumers, and you seem to just accept it as a fact of life. I refuse, and I encourage you and others to refuse, too. Spend $60 elsewhere, on products that work as advertised. Lord knows there are enough games out there.
      "Owning" the "mistake" looks like this: acknowledging the deception (=apology) and refunding all pre-orders. THEN they could have worked on improving the game to reach AAA $60 expectations.
      Our only recourse is to change our consumption behavior: never, ever pre-order. Indeed we must kill the whole practice of pre-ordering as it's an enabler for the worst behavior.

    • @shawnbyers6947
      @shawnbyers6947 5 месяцев назад +5

      @EmblemParade Oh, you're the type of person who needs to hear Sean say it or, like every other failed project in 2023, have an AI written apology with no sincerity involved at all? I see. Man, that's just sad. OK, so the refunds AT THE TIME (2016) weren't handled greatly, including by Sony and Steam. But get real, they never asked for a single penny for 7 years. They don't do paid expansions or microtransactions, and they certainly don't write half cooked apology letters. They put their heads down and make quality, engaging content for their community. Now THAT is the apology I and the community wanted to see. Not excuses and running away without trying like FNTASTIC, the biggest scam artists of 2023.
      I bet you would love Sean to sit down and make a 1 minute video with an instrument in hand, singing his apology for 2016s mistakes, wouldn't you? 🤣🤣🤣
