- New Game REACTION! Light No Fire and New No Man's Sky Update
This is my live reaction to Hello Games' announcement of Light No Fire and the new No Man's Sky update! During The Game Awards 2023, Sean Murray came on stage to show a small piece of the next No Man's Sky update. We are getting a new ship type and new Space Stations!! Sean also shared a trailer for their new game called Light No Fire. It blew my mind!

I was hoping to see the next game from Hello Games and this still blew me away. I can't believe how amazing Light No Fire looks and we are just getting bits about it....
Light No Fire is a misleading title because it looked like FIRE.
somehow sean murphy busted out a new game and now i dont care about the other ones.... it looks sooo good
I think there was a new Frieghter Design right at the end when the ship exited the space station
Hello games missed an opportunity to name it Yes Woman's Land. ❤
I'll be playing it day one just like I did No Mans Sky.
I love how patient Geoff is with Sean knowing he is socially anxious. The new project looks amazing and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
I love that, while Sean was on stage speaking on the success of his seemles procedural space exploration game, Todd Howard just had to sit there and watch.
Bro he ate that up real good lol specially now that this looks like a bigger Skyrim lol😂😅
They actually took a picture together after the show.
Yep, this will be the TESVI we all deserve.
I like how they seem to have learned from the NMS launch. That was all clearly in-engine, they didn't try to hide the pop-in during the flight section, and Sean didn't rattle off a bunch of planned features for people to confuse as guarantees.
NMS community: we want biomes.
Hello Games: here have a new game.
They made a great decision using only game footage for the trailer, definitely learned from their last launch
Light No Fire looks like a hybrid between No Man's Sky and Valheim.
Also those new space stations look sick!
I can only hope.
I can't wait for the new update for NMS, and Light No Fire looks AMAZING!!
No man's Skyrim :))
I hope this is linked to No Man's Sky, like what if this is all Artemis world and he is the new Atlas to make sure it doesn't end
That is an insane theory and I am all for it
I saw a statue that looked similar to a Korvax entity so it's plausible
Hello Games did what most developers actually should do, which is listen to the RIGHT players, not to vocal players. And not treat players as benchmarking.
They made in No Man Sky not a game, but a platform of development. All the problems they had at first, wasnt about No Man Sky, but about the engine, the ability to make an engine for all projects. They took the long road, which no other company, not even EPIC did with Unreal Engine. For the most part, Unreal Engine has a lot of features, but most of them are aimed in making graphics, resource management, basic AI, basic character, basic vehicles, which EASY and USABLE, to sell the Engine.
Hello Games took theirs to be a complex, well rounded, hard to use, hard to code, hard to understand Engine, that accomplishes what simplicity and ease to use prevent Unreal from achieving.
And 10 years is very little time to accomplish what they did. I really hope they dont stop, and and they dont simply give up games and drop the power of their engine to be "usable" by everyone, and instead keep making it more complex and complete, even if they are the only ones capable of using it.
No Man's Sky is unique because Sean Murray is unique. This is his dream, No Man's Sky. He sold his house and car to get this off the ground...if I remember correctly. Murray kept at it because he was in it for turning into reality games which grew from his imagination. This new game is a smart move for a company which used considerable resources improving No Man's Sky for free: use what is already there. It's not like graphics can honestly improve much anyway these days.
For somebody like me, No Man's Sky was made for me. When people were hyped up it was for what they wanted to see, and when it didn't fit the shape they wanted, they shouted loudly. But I never had a problem. (I couldn't play the game because I couldn't afford a new console or computer, but all I saw was a game I was always gonna play). I still play it off and on, regularly. And I'm fine with never having any more updates...just don't tell Hello Games. lol ;)
@@f1rst_pancake He sold his house to get Joe Danger off the ground.
Enshrouded, Nightingale and now maybe Light No Fire next year. Shaping up to be an exciting year!
I doubt this will be a 2024 title... I would suspect mid 2025! Also would love to give them the time they need to get this done!
@@jper1245 Exactly, after the No Man's Sky launch, want to let Hello Games take their time with Light No Fire.
This looks possibly like one of the greatest survival fantasy games i have ever seen.
Hey Jason, I like your enthousiasm.
Watching your reaction to LNF and NMS update is like watching children opening their christmas gifts !
thanks Jason you are the best for covering this
I'm so excited for both the new game and the NMS update! Them working on the new game for the past 5 years explains the sudden medieval/cottage style of buildings and clothes in the newer NMS updates, the game didn't have anything like that during the first few years. And that Atlas-like being at the end is so interesting! Wonder if this is also a simulation world by the Atlas. Can't wait to dig into the Light No Fire lore. Had the same reaction as you, gotta have the "no" in the title 😂
Can't wait to explore this game. Ever since playing horizon zero dawn I've been craving games that closely mimics real-world features like the grand canyon, just wandering inside such a game would be amazing.
This looks incredible!
I can’t water to see how it turns out!
Knowing how well no man’s sky turned out I know this will be incredible.
The hummingbirds will be so much fun and building a base incorporating them will be such a great challenge!
My PC screeched in happiness when the trailer started!
Oh crap! Just take my freaking money now! New game, and NMS update, both look amazing!
As an older gamer and D&D fan. I am SO excited in what I saw here.
Found you just because i was looking for LNF content. Loved seeing your enthusiasm. I'm so excited for this new IP
Jason Plays: "WHAT IS THAT?!"
Me: "That's my next ship, bro!"
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Effin' gorgeous game! So excited to play it! Looks like Sean, and the team at Hello Games have learned a lot from NMS and now they're applying it to LNF. So excited!
Thank you HelloGames, Sean Murray and Jason!
This is how I read what the limited information we get is.
(A Multiplayer Earth) Its clear that this is an MMO-RPG with a heavy lean on survival elements. If its a single planet that everybody plays together on, then I do not see how it can be anything other then an MMO.
(A Procedural Earth) We know it is at least the size of the real earth (probably larger), and from how its described the entire thing has content covering it.
(A Fantasy Earth) if we are not the "Hero" there is obviously no set MSQ (main story quest,) so side quests only. (Not saying there is no overarching quest line but I do not believe every player will have the same one, nor will it be a save the world one. More like learn the mystery of the planet.
(An Unexplored Earth) if there is indeed no MSQ there is no need for us to need to meet static NPCs and static quests. If they want everyone to have the same experience new or old "player/character" then we would need to spawn at a (maybe semi)random point on the planet. Otherwise the single starting space(s) would quickly turn into cities. While making an area unbuildable could be done they did NOT do that in NMS.
We know we can sail on boats, we do see three (barely) in the trailer, though all three are rafts (I am not counting the sunken ship at the start) and could (and likely are) just be place holders.
Kinda sounds like it will land some where in the middle of the venn diagram between Medieval Engineers, No Man's Sky, and (Random MMORPG).
This studio is really something else. Updates, after updates, after updates for 7 years, all free and more amazing every time. Just to say, I really find that they are the dream studio for gamers. For the new games, I am ready!!!!!! Thx Hello Games!!!!
I wonder how they make money while everything is free?
@@Sulto_ exactly what I was thinking about. But I am glad they developed a new game
@@Sulto_ That's easy, they bring in new players. The game is a full priced game on all platforms, with new content coming in every few months, new players will pick the game up to try it. Some people might even buy it on multiple platforms. It's a very clever monetisation that makes them a tidy sum, while not being EA or Bethesda.
@@mistedscript2722 i didn't buy it, i have GPU and it's for free there.
I've watched the trailer so many times now. This is exciting.
The best thing about Sean Murray is that when he says “open world without boundaries” he means it. He’s literally trying to make the world’s first truly open world game on a single planet!
That little clip at the end of NMS has be real curious.
people been asking for a update for the planets so hello games thought "what if we made a game where you explore one BIG planet 🤔"
for real though this game looks super cool! and I can't wait to get my hands on it when it comes out!
It kinda looks like No Man's Sky meets Valheim a bit? I like and play both so, I guess that's win-win...?
That three minutes of him describing the game had me yelling at my screen. “OKAY? OKAY?? OMG YEAAA?? OK? HOLY SHIT CAN WE SEE IT PLEASE!!!”😭😭
"Look at the bunnies!" You crack me up, Jason! 😅
Looks awesome if it’s really what Sean said gonna be awesome!
HOLY CRAP! A freakin' MMO set in a fantasy realm using NMS's engine... GIMME GIMME GIMME! 😁
So even more planned for NMS and something total new awesome 👍
Nice clear presentation and a in game captured trailer, great job Sean and team you truly have come far.
speaking of mountains, one of my outposts got swallowed by a mountain rock...not all of it, but the central controller thing is inside the rock and the gateway too. when i teleport to it i appear high up and fall to the ground. but i can't remake it because i can't get to the controller and delete it. i tried digging under but it's in solid rock. i didn't know the geology was so....dangerous. there also seems to be some ground regrowth/creep on my outposts and i have to dig my floors out...like the rocks are living and growing..kinda spooky.
I'm so excited!
I think the planet will expand endlessly procedurally as it’s discovered a bit like NMS does
most propably NSWE boundaries will be connected over a huge area since its multiplayer and depicts a planet . My guess is procedural generated "Server" Earths conecting the different areas.
New fighter ship coming??? That was awesome!
I am so so excited for this
I'm super excited to play ghis :)
Light No Fire is on Steam, already added it to the wish list!
It looks very cool. Can't wait.
Lets hope their Multiplayer actually works this time.
Um sooo excited ❤😂
Knowing hello games, even if this is a clusterfuck at launch it will undoubtedly be an amazing game.
They've earned my trust and respect with No Man's Sky.
Wow cool ship !!! oMG !!!!!!!!!!!😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
😂😂😂 Light No Man's Sky Fire...I am on fire!!!
The new game looks interesting for those peeps into fantasy type games, I also liked the use of Atl-J “Hunger of the Pines” for the music. Clearly using the NMS engine but with more detail I think, I wonder if the next update for NMS could use this, now that would be interesting?🤔
Never knew what Jason looked like 🤣 wish I didn’t find out tbh 🤣
wow cant wait ,thislooks
amazing
Hopefully, least for me, LNF will be similar setup as NMS is as far as single player/mulitplayer, since I don't play in multiplayer. At my old age, just can't deal with most of the 10yr mentality in other players. Does look very good though.
Yeah, I too rarely use multiplayer. I enjoy the solitude. Playing in multiplayer online and not in a room with family/friends isn't nearly as gratifying for me. :)
The steam page says single player and coop
Why can't I wishlist this!🤯😭
Annnnd i need more ship slots 😅 Man i love HG. This redemption arc is insane 👌
a whole planet sand box survival game you could literally form you own country or town
Seems crazy! I want a release date now.
I usually just play stuff on Game Pass, with a few exceptions - but LNF? Yeah, that's probably going to be the first preorder game purchase I've ever made.
I wouldn't be surprised if LNF went straight on to Game Pass day one as it's just the sort of thing Microsoft will pay big money for, and NMS seems to be working well on there
@@WaynePutterill True - but I feel like this may actually be worth paying money for when it comes out. I'm sure the company makes money from Microsoft for the game being played through Game Pass, but I'm positive it's just a fraction of what they'd make from outright sales. Plus, sometimes preorders are given certain unique items or access that isn't normally available to the players who don't preorder, so that's an added bonus. I really just want Hello Games to "shut up and take my money" for it, you know? It might help them to afford more help for continued support of the game after launch.
I've always been interested in having an Earth-like planet with actual miles 'n' miles and continents and oceans. Not a fan of fantasy stuff, though. :( I'm very happy with No Man's Sky and will keep playing that. Maybe later I will buy this on discount just to roam the lands and waters. I am very much an explorer type person and not a zip around slash slash slash missing all the pretty stuff around me kinda guy.
Good reaction video, Jason. :)
aww mate you are a fan of fantasy stuff & just don't know it. Think about it you like playing a game with Gek & riding flying farting fish - what's more fantasy that that 😉
I kind of like fantasy. But I always end up in Los Santos...
@@stefalim GTA 6 🤤
Looks awesome. This could be the ultimate VR game :) I hope they'll still support it!
"Do you guys think it's gonna be a new DLC or a new game?!"
Hello Games: "How about both?"
Im super excited to play this game and set out as a small little rabbit person in a large world rising a massive hummingbirb.
i saw update available on my steam no mans sky but...i didn't see any patch notes like i normally do when i select a game that gets patched...i wasn't so curious that i'd google for it but usually games love to advertise stuff they've been working on and post it right on the game tab i have...?
Sean's shirt had the logo on it.
новогодний подарок игрокам от разработчиков! супер!👍👍👍🤟
Sean his a visionary he has soul
I gotta ask, HOW did you redo that Expedition?! It's still grayed out for me. Do you need GOG Galaxy to do it?
Sean Murray, TAKE MY MONEY!!!
I do still hope that we can make our own servers. It's very unlikely to run into someone on a whole planet, but eventually as the game grows, certain places would become very crowded. While a player built city is neat, not everyone wants that one spot to look like that and some will probably still want an unexplored world.
So if we could make our own instances/servers for a more private multiplayer experience that'd be neat.
Full single player is pretty much guaranteed since NMS does have an offline mode, so seeing the empty world by yourself is possible, I'm thinking more about a new start for multiplayer.
Would love to see them incorporate some pvp into their game. I know it’s not generally their style but would be fun to see
Jason, we will wait together.
You guys, we predicted it. Procedural open world fantasy earth adventure.
I just realized something. If they can generate one giant earth with varied landscapes and biomes, nothing is preventing the same for NMS planets....
That new game looks awesome. A MMP game that looks to be a builder type of game. I am in.
I really love and enjoy NMS too!
I want a release date! It looks awesome.
yoooo INSTAND FAV SHIP OMG!!!!
Woooooooow!!! I will be buying this day 1! "More ambitious" are yoy kidding me?!?!?!
Here's a funny thing no-one has mentioned. After the trailer was shown in the game awards Geoff Keighley said "Been waiting for years to show that to you" That is from the CC. But it sounds like he says. "I've Been waiting for years to show that to you". I have bad hearing but Interesting non the less. Time stamp: 3H4M
Looks amazing. I hope it's truly mulitplayer though. Aka i want to play with friends. With VOIP and team/squad, etc.
New game looks good but i am excited for the NMS update. Finally, an overhaul of the space stations.... and was it just me or did the graphics look crisper. I cant wait
No Man's Skyrim. There, I said it.
I cannot wait for this game. I love Hello Games and everything they have done over the last decade. BUT. I'm worried for him again. "And we are going to let everyone play in it together." Many people will hear this quote and think he means "MMO". I'm worried that again they will see this as another "lie" when they realize its lobby sizes of 32 players and teams of 4 with everything everyone is discovering/discovered in a database. Sean address this ASAP if I'm right and keep up the amazing work.
No Man's Planet? How interesting 😁
"New game? or No Man's Sky stuff?"
Sean Murray: "How about both."
I really hope this game has a first person mode.
And my guess is due to last "over hype" - I think they holding back. I'm thinking underground dungeons, and lots more they don't dare reveal yet. 🤷♂️🤨
This looks like a trailer for a No Man's Sky update, so I totally agree. There is more here and we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg.
When are we getting it?
Tried to get into NMS but felt just a bit to complex for me but the way its expanded over the years is quite amazing but this new game looks incredible and definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Nms is not complicated 😂
I played the game since launch and still have no idea how to do half the stuff in the game. I feel like the expansions keep making the game more and more unfamiliar to me. I got too far behind. I’m glad they are shifting effort to a new game. I feel like No Mans Sky has had a great run, but should be retired.
I will buy it, but I'm a science fiction fan at heart. A fantasy won't replace NMS for me. But it's cool that it has something like the Atlas. Maybe it's a sibling computer/god creating a separate reality, which is still science fiction in a way.
maybe the atlas really is organic and this just shows the early days of finding it before it was put into a computer
F*uck Yeah!!! 🤩👍
This was about the only thing I was excited to see at the game awards. That and the ghost drop of BG3 on Xbox.
The titles to me are a play on words: No Man's Sky (no man's land set in the clouds) -- Light My Fire (usually around passion) Light No Fire? here's what AI says "There's no smoke without fire" is an idiom that means there are signs that something is true, so it must be at least partly true. For example, if there is a rumor about someone, then there must be at least some truth in the rumor. One thing HG is good at is every question they answer, brings a new one. Sean dropped that hint in saying he hopes to be updating this game over the next 10 years. Just looking at it reminds me of Hogwarts Legacy with a touch of ARK (a little bit with the animal mounts). The immersion could be quite severe with this if this game has no loading screens. I could see myself getting lost in this game for hours. Thinking about how much fun Skyrim could have been without all those loading screens going into each building, LOL. They announced NMS in 2013, didn't drop until 2016. So given this experience they are likely close maybe it drops next year around this time but who knows it could still be years away yet. *Looks like a whole lot of fun*
Oh boy.....here we go again and I want it now.....take my money Hello Games.....Wow.
I want to build my own space station on empty systems and claim them. This is the last thing im missing.
Anyone know what song is that?
Seeing Light No Fire, reminds me a lot of WoW, and Guildwars 2. I hope beyond hope that Hello Games take their time with it, I don't think they want another NMS launch.
My hope for this game is like No Man's Sky, that you can turn off the PvP, because I hate not being able to enjoy a game without getting killed all the time, NPCs are fine but PK'ers, I can leave thanks. All I what is to have a good old route around and see what I can find.
Good post. Very good post! :)
“Without boundaries” means it isn’t a flat singular “infinite” map- it’s a sphere. Don’t know how Jason can’t make that elementary connection
