Sony actually did the opposite. I was mostly a console player up to the PS4, but shifted to PC and after experiencing gaming on PC, I would never go back.
Snap! when they put games on PC i sold my PS5 and bought a Rog Ally 😂 docked it's a half decent gaming PC playing games better than my PS5 at a higher FPS rate and is great in handheld from too
@@NordicMeatShield why're you lying, the rog ally is weaker than the ps4 and has a 30 minute battery life. You have to play Baldur's Gate 3 at 720p on lowest settings just to get 30fps on Rog Ally. Meanwhile its ultra settings 60fps on PS5 at 1440p upscaled to 4k.
I'd rather sell my 4070TI then use the £400 on another GPU upgrade. I'll just wait, no online fee, cheaper game and way better fidelity and frame rate. It's a no from me.
I had a PS5 until recently. All of the games from PlayStation I want to play are either on PC or coming soon. So 4 weeks ago I sold my PS5 and will be playing those great games on PC. I have no regrets at all and with regards to the sequels I believe PC gamers are patient and are happy to wait. I know I am. I’d rather spend the £500 another PS5 would cost me to upgrade my PC experience.
I switched from PC to ps5 about a year ago. I got a ps5 and the convenience factor really won me over. Everything loads lightning fast and the UI is well thought out and convenient. Its not as fast as my 4070 PC but it's fast enough and I don't have to deal with bad PC ports. When I turn on my PC to play something there's always a small chance that something will screw up and I have to fix it and that really annoys me now when it didn't before.
Its very simple. Do you think the majority of pc owners (who factually have less powerful specs than the PS5, according to steam public data) will update their PC spending over $1,000+ to game properly. Or will they get a $500 console? I think some will upgrade, but i think many will consider console as well. This economy is brutal.
Its pretty evident that you have never play in pc and you are repeating the same trash that ps5 fanboys said. First in pc you dont need to pay for saves in the cloud, you need to pay in sony mediocre system, you can play with any control, in os5 only ps5 controls and their quality is mediocre at best, in pc you can play in steam, epic, cog and the best of the best gamepass, you can play old games if you want, ps5 is a shame on backward compatibility and games are much much cheaper in pc. You can use mouse and keyboard . Fanboy stop the lies, its much more expensive to play in ps5 than in a pc, and the playstation network is the worst most unreliable and a hack party for lacks of security. Dont be fool.

Sony selling 1st party games on other platforms has always been a poor long term business decision. Sony’s golden goose is being the platform holder where they collect revenue through software licensing, PS Plus subscriptions, and selling accessories. Releasing 1st party software on PC is an existential threat because consumers don’t look at buying into the PlayStation platform as necessary.

As a PC enthusiast and Console owner, I can safely say that I can’t stand dealing with every iterative update in the Windows environment. I hate having to constantly learn about new services to disable. I hate updating drivers and keeping an archive of drivers because newer drivers can break older games. I hate OS bloat that slows the OS overtime so that i need to reimage my system. I hate other PC players that decide to cheat. With all that I hate doing I still love PC games but theres complete value in a console and not having to deal with this BS. Would be nice if Microsoft got a little more serious and made mechanics in their OS to assist with gaming. I mean 2000+ threads on a vanilla install of Windows.

Guys, use Linux. That is a solution if you want to own and control your computer, not the opposite. If you can't leave Windows behind because of some kernel level anti cheat, face the fact that you have an addiction that prevents you from choosing privacy over gaming. Also it's not only about privacy, many general things, settings are much more straightforward in Linux (Gnome - Ubuntu) to me after using Windows for 20 years.. In the end, having a pc is all about choices, that's why I'm never buying a console. 🙂
@@AosZ Then you already know what needs to be done to get away from all these annoyances, spy and bloat ware you listed out above. 🙂 I also have a 3090 (high end AM4 gaming pc) but I tend to play less and less and usually just use my Steam Deck for it. I just tend to leave games / not touching those that doesn't work on Linux. I still have a Windows partition on my system but I really only use it if I want the Zuck to spy on me through my Oculus Quest. 😆 If I ever buy a new headset first priority will be Linux support.
Being a PC player has basically removed my desire to grab a Microsoft console, I get all of those games one way or another. But, I have been continuing my trend of picking up Playstation and Nintendo consoles.

I was a PC "main" for like 20+ years. My last console was a PS2 in the early 2000's. I bought Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-Man remaster for Steam and I loved them (especially Horizon)! Then came God of War 2018 and omg, I fell in love with that game. When I heard that God of War Ragnarök is coming already, I bought a used PS4 Pro, because I HAD to play it... I didn't want to wait years and it's impossible to avoid spoilers. Mean people are everywhere. Since then, I completely stopped playing single player games on PC (I still play Valorant, and Overwatch on PC, so it's my multiplayer "console" now). Laters I tried PS5 at my friend, and the DualSense is so awesome! Ghostwire Tokio was an experience, I never had with a game. Astro's Playroom??? Damn, you can feel the whole game in your hands... It's the true "next gen" experience. I wanted a PS5, so when prices went down to normal, I switched to it. No more annoying shader compilation stutters, no more trash AMD drivers, no more freezes, crashes in every game. It's just a lot better, and smoother experience. Oh, and I don't have to wait years to get a good game. :)
I agree with most of your statements, there are some games now like Ghost of Tsushima that look so much better on my OLED that I will use my PC for those.
Dualsense works fully for pc pc game catalouge is 100x the size of ps5 Pc games have far less stuttering than average ps5 console exclusive which easily drop below 30fps in any crowded scene Just a bunch of BS lies nothing much else to reply to, pc is supreme and that is the only reason sony is giving up on their consoles and shifting to selling on pc
@@goochipoochie False. The game has to be made to take advantage of haptic feedback with is diffefent from rumble and 2 games on consoles are much better optimized and rñdont drop many frames.
Almost same scenario with mine, pc main for more than a decade. Played GOW 2018 on steam then bought a ps5 last nov 2022 just because of GOW ragnarok and enjoyed other 1st party titles along with the dualsense controller. I also enjoy collecting physical discs for games so that also helps with me enjoying my purchase. I have a PC with a 7800x3d and a 4070ti but 95% of the time I use it for valorant, overwatch 2, or some multiplayer games with my friends like lethal company. Played gta5, doom eternal, and cyberpunk 2077 on pc as it seems like it was the better choice. So sony made me buy a ps5 because of these pc ports having a timed exclusive sequel but all in all I think my decision is great as I can play all games day 1 or month 1 whether it comes out on ps5 only, pc or switch as I also have one
Sony does not actually believe it’s going to convert lots of PC gamers into console buyers. They do however know that there is some overlap between PC users and console buyers, and they have no desire to stop giving those dual users a reason reason to buy a PS5, thus we have this waiting period for single player games. PC customers are quite simply less valuable customers. Valve takes a 30% cut from every game purchase, and Sony is in no hurry to give up that cut of day one sales for God of War or Spider-man.
That is an insane take. That 30% cut for Steam means the other 70% that they were getting 0% from goes to Sony. The millions they got from that 70% were literally zero otherwise, none of those users were going to buy anything PS.
y but that would be a problem for Sony in the future if the PS5/6 sells don't start going up cause the cost of those games goes up each year and i can agree with u but then again Helldivers 2 without PC customers won't be in the position it is right now and it won't be 12m copies sold in 12 weeks
The true purpose of all exclusives is not direct profit from its sales, that is just a 2ndary benefit. The real purpose is magnetizing buyers to an ecosystem, then marketing that expanded ecosystem to 3rd party pubs, then getting a 30% kickback from 3rd party pubs per copy of their games sold within the ecosystem. Once the exclusives has exhausted its true purpose, there's no harm for it to be ported to other platforms.
What exclusives? Sony has none.. maybe timed exclusives but not exclusives.. also why would a pc player spend 500$ on a console where they have to pay to play online every month when they could take that same 500 and upgrade thier pc.. sonys exclusives arnt good enough to get people to buy a console.. only gta has that kind of power.. and even then most people will wait..

Yes. Outside of the online community I bet lots of pc gamers outside of social media and the Internet. Have all systems including ps5. That's for sure. Not everyone uses the internet and social media you know.
LOL... no. I sell quite a few PC's locally and I can tell you that 99.9% of the people I sell to are younger and they're ditching their PS5 or X-Box for the PC. I've gotten so many trade offers for consoles on my listings. And exclusives aren't going to do it. All games come to PC at some point or another and they're only kidding themselves. And the people playing down on those lower end systems on the Steam survey aren't generally playing AAA titles that Sony is trying to entice them with anyways. They're playing games that probably aren't even available on the PS5 and they're probably playing a lot of free titles as well. Also, I used to buy pretty much every console, as I game on both... but I just don't see the point anymore and have zero interest in the new PlayStation or X-Box and won't care about the next either.
@@samhatem1084 So you think someone with a lower end pc would buy a ps5 for 500 and buy the game, and ditch their steam library, over buying a graphics card for 300 that will trounce the ps5 and be able to enjoy steam games at higher frames and better resolutions? and on top of that start paying to play online unlike steam? what you smokin bro?

You sound like money grows on trees, and hardware is free? lol. That is not really a realistic option for most humans on the planet..... the majority of gamers cannot afford to do that.... especially in the climate we currently are living in. I know a lot of people on here are in that income bracket where they have no issue - but a lot of people are going to buy one and call it a day. And if they (are like me) and saved for a nice PC, then your average person who over-extended themself for a PC, are probably going to stay there - short of possibly a switch as a secondary device. I say this as someone who had multiple consoles a generation going back the the lat 80s. And followed that trend well into last generation when I had a PC, 3DS, Wii U, PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. But this generation, I literally cannot afford to have everything new (not even a OLED TV/Monitor).... and almost every gamer in my close friend group has switched to one platform in recent years as a direct result of the financial climate (every dollar needs to stretch). If you read many of the comments under this video, its a lot of people saying: they sold their console to buy a PC/handheld; they had a PS4 /XBO and instead bought a PC this generation; they have a PS5 and cannot afford anything else, or something happened to their old hardware so they bought a cheaper option. I know alot of people who had a PS4 who bought a Series S to play Gamepass, and skipped PS5 (and XSX) for price. And if you look at available public data, nearly half of all console sales are currently from people playing on PS4! My friends OZZY and my younger brother (both guys in their mid-30s), have refused to upgrade this generation, because the PS4 Pro still serves them great for the games they play (And both could afford to upgrade). The recent generation of consoles are almost $600 in many places after MSRP, taxes (internet sales tax, state sales tax, VAT), and shipping. Then you have the subscription services cost so much now - just to play online - so multiply that for PS5, XSX and Switch.... I am truly happy that you (and many others) can afford to own every platform, but 95% of people can't - or won't because they don't feel comfortable spending that much money these days when there are better needs. It used to be that casuals only had one platform, but in 2024 - the vast majority of core gamers are largely gaming on one platform (and maybe a handheld). If you want a switch, PS5, XSX and gaming PC..... that's literally _thousands_ of dollars! lol. And that doesn't include those subscriptions, optional OLED HDR TV (HDMI 2.1), games, hardware, etc. Back in the Sixth and Seventh Generations, you could own all three consoles (PS2, XBox, and GC) for less than a brand-new PS5, a year of PS Plus Premium, and a digital copy of the Star Wars Outlaws Ultimate Edition game. 🤷♂
I think the way the prices are going, and the way this economy is going, you'd more likely see more people switch from PC to console than $500 console to $2000+ PC. Most people already veer away from the complexity of building a PC. Add the GPU cost increases and it might start pricing people out as well.
You dont know nothing about gaming. Your post only shows that you are a pony and also that dont understand the trends in gaming. You dont need to build a $2000.00 pc to beat a prehistoric ps5, and if monye is the factor, pc games are way much more cheaper than in sony stores, has thousands of more games and clod saves are free, in ps5 you need to pay, that is a rip, you can use any control, mouse keyborard is thousand times better anf cheaper
PC comes with everything else you can do with it. GPUs on the Pc are more advanced st this point, and a lot more powerful. Well the PS5 does have the psvr2.
Makes absolutely NO sense, why would pc players suddenly switch because of OLD god of war games, and some woke Spiderman games? You grossly underestimate Steam and the power of the Pc in general. Like somebody will leave 120fps just to play 30 fps, which most sony games run on, just make zero sense.
Wrong Pc moving towards ARM means mobile and pc will become integrated very soon And people have already shown that they are more than happy to spend 1000-2000$ on mobile phones/tabs/laptops That means consoles will go extinct, pc-mobile phones-laptops-handheld will become a single unified entity that will be cheap to develop for since the same ARM architecture

Stating the obvious, PC players like to sit in front of a monitor with mouse and keyboard, console players like sitting on a couch with a joystick. You can do the same with a PC, but most PC players only use joystick for specific games...I also believe the majority of PC players would choose a 1080p 240hz screen over a 4k OLED TV these days. Yeah imo consoles are for more casual gamers, not sayin its bad but if you want a pc you are more likely to be more involved with your gaming experience, while consoles are great for people who just wanna play somethin after work or kids that can play after school with their friends so their parents dont spend over 1k for their kid's game box
So I’m a console gamer mainly for ease of use and price. I would like to game on PC but the price barrier to get a system that makes it feel worth it costs so much more than a PS5. I’m happy to stay on consoles at this point.
I'm not trying to 'Uhm actually' you. By all means, play what you most enjoy. But you can build a PC that's not too much more expensive than a ps5 that will run rings around it. I've got one hooked up to my tv that might cost 775-800 bucks nowadays and will run rings around a ps5

The PC is too expensive narrative its getting old. So many ways to build a PC around the price of a console that will yield equal to better results and open a while world of other type of gaming consoles cant provide.
I'm a PC gamer because I can't afford the console ecosystem. My PC cost much more than a new generation console - but almost all the software I play on it is either indies, games I purchased on sale (just got Suicide Squad steam code for $20), MMOs or free-to-play. I can't afford $70-120 games.... so I certainly can't afford to pay another $500 + electronics tax + internet tax + state tax + shipping.... then be forced to deal with Sony or Microsofts' digital store fronts these days. I'm not going back to physical games, and I already have a massive library of things to play from 15 years on Steam and GOG. I've been a gamer since 1988, and this is the first generation were I did not own a console, and it's largely because the AAA industry have become too expensive for me to engage in that market... and playing video-games on console just keeps getting more expensive. Remember when PS5 RAISED their price two years into their console release? Sorry Sony, but a few exclusives (which will probably come to PC anyway), are not enough to make me cross that river again. I honestly do not even care about those big budget titles anymore, anyway. I'm playing things that are largely over a decade old, at this point. I'm happy using my PC, where I can get more longevity out of my hardware, and I can play games for very little money.
I just went back from a game store, and was laughing that it got overstocked with used PS5, literally this system went from Scalped to Uninteresting for a lot of people in only half it's life-time. Anyway, not in a billion years I'd switch from PC to Console.
Which should be common sense. Why is this such a necessary feature? Why do people care so much? If you care that much, then just give your pass and email to that said person
In the EU at least, there are laws that would enforce any software distributor to allow and enable the resale of software. Some company already won a case against Oracle, which is also a giant company. "An author of software cannot oppose the resale of his ‘used’ licences allowing the use of his programs downloaded from the internet The exclusive right of distribution of a copy of a computer program covered by such a licence is exhausted on its first sale" INAL but this seems pretty broad and I see no reason why this wouldn't apply to games on Steam.

No you could but what they mean is if a family member passes, then contacting support, they won't give you the info to get it, however if you know the info or if they wrote it down somewhere, you can get it
In an ideal world I'd have all 3 platforms but the world is not ideal so for now I have my PC and yes, if I ever get into a financial position where I can justify buying a console in addition to keeping my PC up and running and upgraded with relatively modern hardware it would be a Playstation first.

Don't be lazy. Most modern games will auto-configure the settings for you. It usually sets the graphics pretty accurately based on your specs and framerate/performance is good. My uncle raised two kids and had time to "fiddle around" with PC gaming way back in the day and still does it now. Like dude, you're literally making up excuses and trying to turn it into a negative when this is objectively not a negative. Mountains out of mole hills here. Holy moly. Buy a pre-built if you have to. That's why such a market exists because not every person (even fervent PC gamers) like to build them. They just like to game on them. Driver updates are a one-click affair as well. GeForce Experience or AMD Adrenalin take care of that. This is not the PC gaming of old and you do not have to tinker unless you want to.
lol good thing I'm single then XD and if god so help me if my wife, doesn't let me use my pc, I would leave her in a heart bit. also... PC stands for personal computer. This... doesn't have to be limited to desktops. That's what people get wrong all the time.
Alex being shocked at the spec of the GPU's being used is typical of the "experts" view, thinking everyone out there is throwing out £500 plus on a GPU for a PC build. I thought long and hard about spending £300 on an RX6700 for my PC build last year given I already have a Series X, and will undoubtedly plump for the PS5 Pro in the autumn.
@@Rapunzel879 I get consoles as they're a convenient way for me to game within a family setting, using the limited time I have. I've always been Sony first, then Microsoft, but went the other way this time. If the PS5 Pro turns out to be a damp squib, I'll skip this generation and wait for the PS6. If I get a PS5 Pro, I'll have had my Series X nearly 4 years by then, so don't feel that's a poor return on my outlay. I've built PC's for nearly 40 years now, and the one I made last year was the first in over a decade, so wasn't prepared to throw away a ridiculous sum of money on a GPU for the time I'll get to use it at the moment. My youngest is 13, and a dual console gamer too, and even he can see this obsessive race to graphical realism. perfection, however you want to call it has become insane amongst the reviewers.
@@stephenvalente3296 I see what you are saying. I own the Series X and S (this one for my kids). I decided to buy a PC last year because all the exclusive games eventually make their way to PC. Games cost significantly less on PC, and that's something that I had considered prior to purchasing my PC. TBH, I'm never buying another console again. Yes, a PC costs more upfront, but the cheaper software, the breadth of games, and the freedom of playing everything is more than worth it IMO.
@@Rapunzel879 If I could get the time, and space to set up the massive Corsair 680X case I bought to house my PC, I'd happily game on it more. Shame my Mac Studio isn't more of a gaming machine as the size and power would be perfect for the living room over the consoles. Have been collecting some of my console games on PC via sales, etc. so will use it more at some point. Might need to set up the PC in my home office ultimately.
Most PC gamers gravitate towards PC as a long term thing be it for the better value of games, the ability to play games years after release without worrying about backwards compatibility, modding, and freedom PC offers just in general. 12 years ago I built my first PC, though I have used PCs most of my life. Before and after that I still used consoles. I still tend to prefer PC and go back to it. That CEO was spouting pure cope though. I wouldn't buy a console strictly for one or two games. There has to be something more for it to be worth it. The Switch I would argue used to have enough to make it worth going for. It can be played anywhere, it can hook up to a tv and has pretty good third party controller support. And if you modify it you can run a lot of older games on it, including games not on their subscription service. Even then, PC gamers often run Switch games on a PC and get much better performance and visuals. And Nintendo not putting their games on PC is them potentially leaving a lot of money on the table. Whether they like it or not, many PC gamers will not buy a Switch for one or two games. And despite this, they will still find a way to play the few switch exclusives even if they have to use emulation to do so. Overall in the past 12 years I realized how much better PC was, at least for me. Prices on PC are typically cheaper. Since there are far more stores, even when just counting ones that sell Steam keys. Consoles have their subscription services, but I have not been satisfied with any of them. NSO is 50 dollars for a bunch of older games, or 20 for a smaller selection. NSO could be a good deal if you can get otherrs to split the 80 dollar family price with you, but that relies on you others around you wanting to pay for NSO in the first place. I prefer the Steam Deck here anyway. Gamepass sounds like a great deal on paper. But I found that I prefer building a library to play from rather than pay for access to a rotating set of games. I also don't like feeling pressured to play a game asap before it is gone. Especially if it is fighting for time with a game that I actually spent money on to specifically buy. PS+ base has the problem that typically the games given out each month are ones I already owned either on Playstation or PC. There have been a couple of games I got into because of it, but overall I feel like they got more out of me than I got out of it. So I no longer pay for PS+. The more expensive tiers seem even less of a good deal. They just seem like a worse version off both gamepass and NSO. I will say that even if Sony never ported a single new game to PC, I would just deal with it. I'm not hurting for games. I have over 1600 games on my Steam account, and PC is great for emulation and modding. The Steam Deck is also a great companion to a desktop PC imo. Since getting it, I have been playing a lot of my games on it, and since it's a PC, I don't have to re-buy any games like I would on the Switch.
Factually yes. The problem is you and pc fanboys think they mean a mass exodus to buy a ps5. Say 2 million ppl buy Ragnarok and 50k buy a ps5 for a sequel thats a win
If the shoddy PC releases we've been getting over the last few years continue then they may get more converts than one might expect. It's frustrating to see lots of games running smoother on consoles which are lower spec but that's becoming common these days.
Lifes short stop acting like PC players are ok waiting years for Ps games and Gta 6 and even when they get them like everybody has moved on from those games
I completely understand why people buy consoles, I use to be a Nintendo or Sony console buyer. It's about access and convenience on hardware that is darn good for the price. Going to PC wasn't that I hated consoles, it was about getting a top end TV with a top end hardware and access to tens of thousands of games, many of which are AAA. I don't subscribe to, "master race theory" as that is bizzare and cringe. I subscribe to different strokes for different folks because, nuance and stuff
but we are otherwise sony wouldent bother putting games on the pc I remmber 10 years ago how you fanboys said we will never even get sony exlusives now we just have to wait 2 years and only for singleplayer games live serivce like helldivers 2 will come on the same day yeah we good
To be honest, since they are going to try and release online games such as Helldivers is at the same time on both PlayStation and PC, I don't really see much of an issue with staying on the PC. Everyone on consoles having moved on from a single player game doesn't really affect my experience playing that game a year or two later on PC.
There will definitely be PC gamer GTA fans that buy a current gen console just for GTA 6. We've already been waiting over a decade and still have to wait another year and a half. You really think GTA fans on PC will hold out through the hype another 1.5 years after release waiting for a port? Maybe the ones that just can't afford a console but I think many will find a way.
@@ArielCleirigh You def shouldn't be expecting much of a difference between GTA6 on PS5 vs PS5 Pro outside resolution because it will be CPU bound an issue the Pro will not fix.

Why would it have to? The PS5 is an extraordinary value for consumers. The only drawbacks have been FSR artifacts which might be resolved with FSR 3.1, a delay in FSR frame-generation finally arriving on consoles with impressive performance improvements and some developers' lack of optimization for performance modes upon the game's release. 2 of those are being addressed and lazy developers are getting chastised for their laziness. If we can play games at 60fps and above with near quality-mode visuals with Frame-Gen and FSR 3.1, then the PS5 is an incredible machine especially for what it offered when it was launched. The final thing has been a lack of games but PC is struggling more in that regard.
Pc isnt struggling games wise, consoles cant play tf2 and alot of popular games idc about, if you want a console get a switch, you can get all games on pc from ps and xbox even if they release late, only get the switch bc those games arent coming to pc, unless you can emulate

Steam surveys are optional and skewed towards people who are happy with their hardware. Most people with weaker hardware just ignore those steam surveys.
Consoles are waning in the market. Kids think consoles are boomer boxes tied to a TV experience they have no interest in. Kids want PCs so they can multi-task, playing games while running Discord etc. Streaming and interacting in ways not at all possible on a console.
@@elijah5682 As someone with teenagers, the thing they want most is to connect with their friends through PCs where they can paint, stream and geek out with all the options available on the platform... pretty much endless social activities. This situation can have the complete opposite effect. Porting PS5 games onto PC is why I sold my PS5 in the first place... Because there are just so many games available that waiting a year or 2 to play a PS5 game is just a non issue. Zero regrets not owning a PS5 anymore.
The steam survey includes every computer with steam installed, everyone, every school laptop, every library pc. On top of that, how many people on steam are even interested in playing graphically intense games? Most people, by a massive margin, play almost exclusively games like dota, CS, LoL, etc.
Sony might have a point, Steam is another illusion too, another ecosystem where you dont own the games either. At least Nintendo and PS5 allow to buy physical games .

This was said, but Sony doesn't really believe PC players are going to PS5. It's clear that console player numbers have stagnated, while PC players have grown substantially. So what's happening is PS5 players are converting to PC gamers, at least that's what's happening if you look at the numbers.
Not really Switch and PD5 have become the most profitable consoles for Nintendo and Sony, with higber attach rate than befofe. The PS2 and Wii era cuasuals mobed ro mobile. And according to Newzoos report PC is growing only 1% more than consoles, mostly in countries were consoles do nit have a price advantage
You've got some pretty bad reading comprehension. And I quote: In Newzoo’s report, PC game sales, microtransactions, and other digital purchases grew 8.4 percent in 2023 compared to 2022. That’s pretty good alone, but compared to other platforms it’s even more impressive. During that same time period, consoles only saw a 0.3 percent increase, and mobile gaming shrank by about 2 percent.
I own a high-end PC and also a PS5 for exclusives I love. However ... I find that I barely touch the PS5. When I know that games will come to PC, I always prefer to wait. There's enough other stuff to play. :) I've even considered selling the PS5.
As for the quality thing on the ports, people would still prefer Day 1 than having to wait but unfortunately for Sony, THEY WILL WAIT. Square Enix learned this lesson.
Friendly reminder that the vast, VAST majority of PC gamers use a machine much, MUCH weaker than a PS5. This strategy isn’t aimed at hardcore PC players. It’s aimed at the ppl who greatly outnumber us.
Exactly. Hardcore PC users are a tiny amount in the whole market. Just take a look at the steam hardware surveys. You can get a PS5 for 350€. You can’t get a gaming Pc for that money.
@@ArielCleirigh No, they won't. They'll gladly play the thousands of games available on PC and play GOT2 whenever it comes to PC. They won't buy consoles for that closed ecosystem and paid online.
It's really not that complicated... I've been a PC gamer for decades but I bought the PS5 for the same reason I bought the PS3. There are simply still a lot of great PS4 (and PS5) games that didn't get a PC port (yet). The PS5 cost me about 480 euros (slim model with Spiderman 2) - just the GPU for my current PC cost me about 800 euros. While my PC is definitely more powerful than my PS5 I have to say - PS5/PS4 (especially exclusives) games run and look pretty damn amazing on my TV and I'm enjoying my time with the console. Just played The Last of Us II remastered and it looks absolutely incredible (which is especially impressive considering the original game was designed for PS4). All in all I don't think it's about switching from PC to console it's more about expanding. It's a simple fact - if you can afford a serious gaming PC you can easily afford at least one console beside it and I think that's the angle Sony is trying to exploit.
I used to be a console gamer but switched to PC around the PS4 era (as my job requires I have a decent PC anyways. All through that generation I felt the ache of not having a console as the exclusives passed me by. Particularly Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy, but also Bloodborne and The Last Guardian. Your coverage of Shadow of the Colossus ALMOST made me buy one, but I didn't get one until Spider-Man came out. I bought it second hand and scooped a ton of exclusives I'd missed. This generation, the PS5, there is no ache. I don't feel like I'm missing anything, and if I ever get a PS5 it'll be more because I'm interested in 4K blu-ray than the games. I don't need Spider-Man 2 in a hurry, Demon's Souls remake looks fine but I don't need it. And they have so little else. This generation is likely to end up with zero original Naughty Dog games? We used to joke "the PS3 has no games" but by this point in its life cycle it had so many more than this and so many more coming.
Again the fact you hate PS for some reason Does not meaning nobody on pc never will buy a PS5, is like me saying Nobody on PS will never buy a pc, I Cant made that bold prediction .
consoles are the entry level to gaming. usually the way it happens is your parents get you a 500$ console and then when you start working some people transition to PC by buying a pre-built one and then upgrading single parts every 4-8 years. you don't usually go back to console gaming after you've move to PC.
Here's the short answer: No. Self-proclaimed "enthusiasts," such as myself, are so heavily invested in our own respective hardware that any additional costs for the sake of playing, "console exclusives" (sooner) would be an unnecessary expense. I have a 4090 in my system presently, so why would I be interested in spending $400 on Sony's plastic (and far less capable) box?
People like u are not the target... Why do u even think that... The only reason for a guy like u to even consider getting a ps5 is if u really like the controller.
I have a 4090, and I'm going to get a PS5 Pro. I don't like waiting for games, nor do I like playing old games. I have no backlog and all the games I play are relatively new. I am not waiting to play GTA 6.
I don't really mind waiting for PC ports of games. I think a lot of other gamers feel the same way. We have huge backlogs and there's already so many fun games to play.

That is exactly the reason that they has been cutting projections and losing money
That is an insane take. That 30% cut for Steam means the other 70% that they were getting 0% from goes to Sony. The millions they got from that 70% were literally zero otherwise, none of those users were going to buy anything PS.
Sure Nobody with a pc having a PS5 right?
y but that would be a problem for Sony in the future if the PS5/6 sells don't start going up cause the cost of those games goes up each year and i can agree with u but then again Helldivers 2 without PC customers won't be in the position it is right now and it won't be 12m copies sold in 12 weeks
If they keep bringing games to PC people will just stop buying PS5's. Look what happened to Xbox.

Just own them all… nice PC as the primary platform, but also a PS5 and Switch for exclusives or significantly delayed exclusives. XSX is pretty redundant if you have a PC, but I still have one of those too.

Wrong
Pc moving towards ARM means mobile and pc will become integrated very soon
And people have already shown that they are more than happy to spend 1000-2000$ on mobile phones/tabs/laptops
That means consoles will go extinct, pc-mobile phones-laptops-handheld will become a single unified entity that will be cheap to develop for since the same ARM architecture

So your argument is that you though long and hard which GPU buy, and in the same breath you're buying all the consoles?
@@Rapunzel879 Also, PC doesn't require subscription for online play.
Nope
Factually yes. The problem is you and pc fanboys think they mean a mass exodus to buy a ps5. Say 2 million ppl buy Ragnarok and 50k buy a ps5 for a sequel thats a win
If you can install Windows or Linux on a PS5, then yes
Get out your fat ps3 with older firmware and install Linux :)
Microsoft is faaar more likely to do this especially now
Why would you want to do that? At that point, it would be just better to stick to PC...
oh installing windows on the ps5? that would be cool! I would use it to watch movies on the big tv if I had it. PS store sucks... also their browser
@lofl6968 Understandable
Oh yeah totally, people completely moved on from GTA V really quickly didnt they.
but we are otherwise sony wouldent bother putting games on the pc I remmber 10 years ago how you fanboys said we will never even get sony exlusives now we just have to wait 2 years and only for singleplayer games live serivce like helldivers 2 will come on the same day yeah we good
To be honest, since they are going to try and release online games such as Helldivers is at the same time on both PlayStation and PC, I don't really see much of an issue with staying on the PC.
Especially If PS5 pro is real and having the Better versión on GTA 6.
@@ArielCleirigh You def shouldn't be expecting much of a difference between GTA6 on PS5 vs PS5 Pro outside resolution because it will be CPU bound an issue the Pro will not fix.
That’s pointless for PS though outside of sales becuz those gamers won’t spend on their services
@@sumomaster5585 they will definitely spend the monthly fee just to play new upgraded GTA Online
Yes they will like they did for the previous game. Mods and RP aren't on console and those are the two most popular things for GTA online.
answer is no. I started with ps5 and then built a gaming pc. haven't touched my ps5 since.
Again you are talking for yourself you Dont speak for all the people on pc.
y i was with Sony till the PS3 and i had an Xbox OG but after that i was fully invested into PC and i do not care what games will come to those consoles cause all those games will come to PC even GTA6
@@ArielCleirigh He speaks the most sense.
I always had a console and pc always and it's not going to change anytime soon.
@@maddoxreddish4352 release late??? by the time they release a new title is on the way and it takes 6+ years to get a new one nowadays.. Granted, PC is the only place to play Master of Orion and Minesweeper but the majority of AAA games are usually console exclusives.
@@maddoxreddish4352there’s no huge teams and first party companies developing games for pc and being the backbone of its library , unlike ps5
Also most of pc games are live service stuff , the last actual exclusive was half life 2 which released a decade or two ago
PC literally has all PC games, all Xbox games, most PS5 titles eventually it seems, it emulates everything in the history of videogaming including Nintendo machines, including the Switch! PC never wants for games. It's the King Kong of games.
@@pgr3290 Emulation, who emulates? I've had this conversation many times. Consoles simplify everything from streaming, gaming, to watching movies, to watching 3d movies on older consoles.
PCs have their benefits but we can't be comparing a $2,000 PC to a $500 console that plays better games and does everything. You can't put a PC next to a TV in a decent living room.
how am i gonna play my arma 3 clone troopers vs idf mod on playstation?
Nope.
They've done the opposite with me. I was primarily playing on PS5 for a while but now I've sold it and just play on PC + handhelds.
It would take a special kind of stupid for a PC gamer to convert to console let alone PS5

I ended up buying a Series X at launch because it was more powerful than my gaming PC at the time.

I have an RTX4090 with a 13900KF and 96GB 6000Mts of RAM. This is better than the PS5, will be better than the PS55 PRO, PS6 and PS6 Pro and maybe even PS7.
I was all Playstation through and through all the way until the release of the PS5, but PC gaming is far more immersive for me.
You're basically comparing a 3000+ € machine to a 500 one?
@mondodimotori if you watch the video, there is discussion about the price differences.
My only points where about the sheer selection of games and the amount of years I have with better visuals.
I completely acknowledge different strokes for different folks, but some of us want this kind of immersion.
Kids do not want PCs. Lol they barely want laptops. If anything they want consoles, tablets, and mobile gaming.
@@elijah5682 As someone with teenagers, the thing they want most is to connect with their friends through PCs where they can paint, stream and geek out with all the options available on the platform... pretty much endless social activities. The last thing they want is console wired to a TV. It is boomer shit to them.
This situation can have the complete opposite effect. Porting PS5 games onto PC is why I sold my PS5 in the first place... Because there are just so many games available that waiting a year or 2 to play a PS5 game is just a non issue. Zero regrets not owning a PS5 anymore.
From the steam server survey only 25% of PC players have a card that is better than the PS5. That's why many PC players have a ps5.
Actually the number is less than 10%
The steam survey includes every computer with steam installed, everyone, every school laptop, every library pc. On top of that, how many people on steam are even interested in playing graphically intense games? Most people, by a massive margin, play almost exclusively games like dota, CS, LoL, etc.
They converted me to PC gaming when they made online play a paid subscription with the PS4, lol

I'd rather put the $500 into a GPU upgrade for my PC
Buddy on the right is incapable of looking at things objectively. He has such a huge bias...lol
Sony might have a point, Steam is another illusion too, another ecosystem where you dont own the games either. At least Nintendo and PS5 allow to buy physical games .
Actually SONYs censorship and DEI made me PC gamer for life now. Was before and got lost but they helped me find my way back.

I dont understand the logic of charging for cloudsaves. Isn't the goal to increase attachment... if you lose your saves then you lose the pull
If you wanna sell your ps5 find some relative of yours who wants one but doesnt have it and sell it to em or give it to em
Exactly, people with a 4090 sure dont care about PS5 But people with a 1080 or 2080 sure when GOT 2 is announced or GTA 6 most likely they will.
Exactly. Hardcore PC users are a tiny amount in the whole market. Just take a look at the steam hardware surveys. You can get a PS5 for 350€. You can’t get a gaming Pc for that money.
Now you've summoned every 3090 and above PC user to reply on how they have such a powerful PC. Not me though, I only have a 3070 :D
@@ArielCleirigh No, they won't. They'll gladly play the thousands of games available on PC and play GOT2 whenever it comes to PC. They won't buy consoles for that closed ecosystem and paid online.
No they don't lmao and even the ones that do, why wouldn't they upgrade their PC that can get everything.
Absolutely not
I used to be a console gamer but switched to PC around the PS4 era (as my job requires I have a decent PC anyways.
PC players dont even want to make a PSN free account, imagine buy a playstation
Playstation games on PC is a very dumb move
And yet you still a minority most people on pc having 2080 or 1080 so
I have a 4090, and I'm going to get a PS5 Pro. I don't like waiting for games, nor do I like playing old games. I have no backlog and all the games I play are relatively new. I am not waiting to play GTA 6.
