Great demo. Yeah, changing the canvas color (19:12) to "no color" (or any other color, for that matter) makes no difference in this case because the app simply covers the _entire canvas_ with its version of the photo you selected. We humans see the white as "empty background behind the object", but the app sees it as "color: white", and fills it accordingly. As such, there are literally no empty areas of canvas left to reveal. I'd be interested to see whether a .PNG image (which can literally have pure emptiness around a shape or object) would yield a different result. I doubt it though. I don't think the app is quite "smart" enough to distinguish file types yet. 😄
Dude you are awesome. Keep up the good work. I don’t have the background graphics knowledge to grasp some of this stuff but you did a really great job showing some of the basics
Thank you very much for posting this. I have two curtains and had the hardest time trying to sync them together, with zero success in reaching out to Govee for help. You nailed it in this video and showed me precisely what I need to do. Thanks again!
Great video. Question, I put my outdoor lights on a schedule to turn on and off at specific times. How can I put the default light settings so when they turn on automatically they can turn on to a specific mode I want rather than just basic white, forcing me to manually change it every day to the mode I want it to be on
On mine i use the timer option on the outdoor lights page to set the start and stop times. it automatically starts the last mode used. alternately you can go to the automation tab on the home screen and set a timer to start any single show mode you want on any day at any time. you could set a different mode for each day of the week if you want.
Thanks for the tutorial. I made the 49er one 4:25 and let me tell you it took hours to create. It honestly should not take that long to do but I am a noob at this. As for doing layers 9:50 can you please explain how to do this? I can't figure that out. Like I said I created the 49er one and in my DIY I have a scrolling text of some of the players on the team and would like to put more on there but not sure how the layers option works
Yes, Govee would do well to check out the SP801e controller. I did something similar to the headliner in my show car with about 1000 leds. The app for the sp801 was much easier to add animations, and it had far more memory for effects. The video on that project can be seen here. ruclips.net/video/5-uJEHk2yns/видео.html I tried to use the sp801e for the govee curtains but it wouldnt work right. Unfortunately i don't know much about the layers. I played a little bit but my mind is much better at envisioning things on the carousel mode
There should be a toggle button on the list page for each auto play in the list as well as in the curtain control area on the auto play row next to Go Create. The button is shown in the video when you go to the permanent lights section.
Thanks for the tutorial, I am trying to set up an NHL Oilers marquee for game nights, and I can’t figure out how to use the custom NHL Oilers colours in my DYI, can you help? I built one, but I feel the colours are off
The Image effect at 23:47 works like a color picker/extractor tool. An algorithm will scan the image and select a few prominent colors from the image itself, then map them to LED colors that the lights can display.
I can’t find the diy option, I do have it but when I click on that mode all it does it give me randomly generated diys, it doesn’t let me customize at all
Yea, it's a great idea but needs work. We are working on a new curtain light that will have 1000 leds on each curtain and can chain up to 4 curtains on 1 controller. You'll be able to load up gif files to create much more detailed and animated shapes and chain a bunch of them all you get a lot more options. We have months to finalize on design since this is more of a Christmas decoration but working with the govee lights let me see all of the issues so we can do better.
You can sync all of your permanent outdoor lights I have 3 separate 450ft boxes installed on my house. It's at least 18-20 strands all around my house. You have to create a group.. 1. Go to Home tab (top left) 2. Scroll to bottom to group 3. Create a group (same model group type has more functions) Viola 😉
Thanks for the info! Do you know of a tutorial or resource for the advanced diy "workshop" mode on the Explore tab? The terms used aren't very clear to me.
I do not know of any guides for that section. it looks like it has a pretty in depth guide at the beginning for it. But i dont think it really offers you anything that you cant do on the DIY page as i show in the video. its just laid out differently.
Thank you this is a greta video. I have 3 curtains. For reasons unknown to me one is not showing up as an option to splice. Any ideas on what I can do or why that would be?
Make sure all the curtains show up in the app, you do need to add each one individually first. Also make sure they are all connected to your wifi. If they are all connected then you should be able to sync them, if not you may need to reach out to Govee to see if they have seen that issue before.
So I followed you video and downloaded a few. However when I keyword search, I don’t see any of yours or most I see in your video. I have 2 curtains vs your 3. You think that’s why I don’t see yours and others? Also, is it possible to edit a download. Like speed up script? Thanks
That totally sucks as there are some nice animations for 2 curtains but are limited. looks like the really cool and numerous ones are for 3. ah well, I may buy a third and try hard to find somewhere to put it. @@NextLevelNeo

Do you know what size pixel set up for 1 curtain? This way I can set something up for one two or three is it the first dimension you mention the 60 x 26 pixel? This video was a huge help the govee app and instructions leave a lot to be desired. They should really but some development into an online app or computer app that you can do designed and preview them without having to go outside and see how they look.
Each panel is 20 x 26, 26 being the length. So 1 panel is 20, 2 panels is 40, 3 is 60, and so on. Yes, they have created a great product they just need some help getting it to its full potential. I would love to help them out with that if they were interested.
@@NextLevelNeothis right here I agree 100%! Honestly a web app would be a BIG improvement with a previewer. Way easier than trying to do it in a phone. It would also make it more user friendly helping them build out their shared DIY options. If they have that then they don’t have to spend time all user generated and better than competitor product. Example brought in an unsized photo and couldn’t scale it to fit the curtain that’s how I found this video. You are single handily selling their product well at least providing support.
@@NextLevelNeoone other thing is they should add a feature that you can set your window size because my window are shorter and a lot of the image gets cut off and doesn’t look as good.
Thanks, i love this kind of tech, i actually sell a ton of this stuff for car use and have recently started trying it out on computers and home lighting setups. I want to see what all is out there, figure out what needs improvement, and hopefully bring some new products to the market that people can actually use. I have a manufacturer already that makes my stuff for cars. The home lighting stuff isnt much different so its just taking what i know about cars, learning all i can about the offerings for the home, and deciding where development is needed. Im also all about helping existing companies improve their existing products when they are open to the input. Unfortunately, many of these larger companies just aren't open to input but the ones that are are great to work with.
really helpful video! can i ask, from the DYI videos, where do i find the patterns i've saved? i can't see to find my "DYI Collection" and they're not showing up under DYI Default. thanks again!

@@NextLevelNeo thanks :) I've found those - I was talking about the ones you can save after watching the video - you talk about them in your video, how you can apply them to see what they're like and then save them by hitting the star - I've saved a bunch and it says they can be found in DYI Collection - but there's no "DYI Collection" only "Default" and they don't show up there - so I was wondering where they get saved to - if that makes sense
@@NextLevelNeo just one - i just set them up yesterday so still figuring things out - so i apologize if i'm just not seeing something - the Govee lights are great but the App isn't very intuitive ;) i'm looking at about 5:43 in your video - you have some videos starred
@@michaelb8709 that may be your issue. Many patterns are curtain number specific, meaning you can't use a 3 curtain pattern like mine on a single curtain.

Why text is not showing on my app? I’m using iPhone 😢
Can you confirm the max number of lights that can be synced? I thought it was three but I saw some video that said it was updated to five.
I had read 5. I actually have 2 more curtains coming so i can play with other matrix controllers so i will see if i can go 5 or not.
