His mother was my elementary school teacher….waaaay back like in 94, 95… Bella Vista Elementary in Montebello.. Carmen Maytorena, she was also a spanish teacher… 😢 she used to wear red glasses…
I remember seeing him in the early 80’s with his band Torien at the Montebello Plaza parking lot. He was the guitar player and vocalist. I remember he played a lot of VH and Journey cover tunes.
Torien did a really good job and I never knew he was this solid of a guitar player. I always dug Bulletboys and still think 'Freakshow' in '91 was their best work. R.I.P. Edward.
Saw him just walking thru the crowd at a NAMM show back in the mid 2000s. Asked him for a pic and ended up talking for about 10 mins. Very humble dude...
Funny thing is....I bet he kills it when he's at home and no pressure. Those are big shoes to fill and a skill that is good to learn for fun but you're never gonna be competitive with it....I mean it's pointless. I doubt he polished everything up to perfection for that show.....but I can tell that he had a lot of EVH nuance in there that is seldom heard in EVH guitar clones. I'm 100% certain that he had this song down at one point that he was super close. Again, hard to do in front of people when your not playing that stuff on the regular. One of the better Mean Street covers I've seen.
@@davidwade5807 Well..According to a recent article, via Tommy Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo?....He WAS absolutely HORRIBLE! Didn't even know how to play IN TUNE! But yeah! Evidently? Ozzy HAD kinda given him "the pass' for FILLING RHOAD'S SPOT! THAT IS? TILL 1st audition WITH THE REST OF THE OZZY BAND!...Lol....Evidently? According to Aldridge and Sarzo? The MAIN REASON that he WAS hangin with OZZY, is he was bringing in PILES of coke to Ozzy EVERY DAY, so....LOL..But yeah, he HAS obviously "improved" since then.....LOL .......There ya go! ROCK ON😎🤘🔥🤘
I understand and respect Wolfgang's and Alex's wishes of not doing a reunion tour (Van Halen).but what I would like to see is a large benefit concert for cancer (in tribute to Eddie Van Halen).where all the proceeds going to cancer.i would like to see Sammy and Michael (they already are ready to do it) and several other artists do a daylong venue concert.pick like 10-15 Van Halen songs from the catalogue.and do a Eddie Van Halen video montage on two large screens during every song.make it like a live aid or farm aid type concert.even though Eddie's family wants to move on,I think the fans deserve to give Eddie van Halen a decent send off.i bet they could pick a stadium that holds a 100,000+ people and sell it out.this would be epic.if alex and wolfgang don't want to participate, thats fine.thats their right.but the fans have been begging for it.and i know michael Anthony and sammy hagar have been pushing for it.david lee roth has said he would do it.R.I.P. EVH🤟🤟
This dude does a great DLR! Torien does a great job here as well. Tone is killer in this. Agree that the guitar tech or whoever helped him with the rig should be given a round of applause.
@@aschule5684 He TRULY is a gggrrreat drummer! We (The Clarences) are a Northern Californian band that's been around for 18 years! Thanks for asking! xoxo The Clarences
Marq is a BADASS frontman and singer. I didn't know he had any chops. 316 is possibly the easiest Van Halen song to play on guitar but I was impressed with his Mean Street rendition. Bravo.
Yes !!!! I was the guy who saw their 1st U.S. SHOW...milwaukee, april '90...photogrsphed it & front cover of magazine I shot for ( may '90) came to hollywood following year for show @ ROXY...jesse james & davy kraze...they were incredible..
Hey all you Fans of EVH, I bet Brian (aka: DLR) wishes Derick Fuller was cranking out the "Eddie" (we was all in Panama back in the day and I was the first Bass player) We stormed that very stage many times and had a blast playing DLR era Van Halen! Hey Brian, remember Jerry's Nugget in Las Vegas?
Oh man I can remember going to see the band Torien at back yard parties in the San Gabriel valley a few years before the Bullet Boys. Marq sang and played guitar in that band. Essentially they were the first Van Halen tribute band I’ve ever heard he must’ve done at least three or four Van Halen songs at those backyard parties. Even then his guitar playing was great and more so, his singing had that very DLR swagger!!
I was at a few of those parties. I also saw the three piece with marq singing and playing. His band played at my HS (mark keppel) monterey park for a lunchtime show in the gymnasium around 77 78 or so. Marq rocks!
Hanging out at the whisky is one of the few things I miss about LA.... 😁🤘🏼
Yeah I miss the Whiskey! Good times there.
That kid guitar tech deserves a raise!
WoW the New David Lee, I want to hear alot more of this , bullet boys brought me here ✌️🤟♥️
Legends and idols die all the time. But EVH is the _only_ one where years later, it still hits me hard from time to time. Truly the GOAT.
Aggreed and here we are still listening and learning to the great EVH !!!!
Thank you guys. I've been a Van Halen fan since I was 13 in the early eighties !!!! I'm really enjoying this !!!!
Torien is underrated. His vocals with Bulletboys was fucking awesome and obviously he has mad guitar skills
Torien actually pretty much made the final cut for Ozzy after Randy died. But Sharon thought he was too young. So yeah. Dude's got some guitar skills.
Agreed
Just J - I seriously doubt Alex, Michael and Sammy would ever begin to think about getting together as a band to play those wings without Eddie
@@seventallguitarist Came here to say the same thing!!! SMALL WORLD!
Had no idea Enjoyed that
Had no idea that Marq was such a good guitar player WOW! Loved the Bulletboys back in the day! Very impressive not an easy song to play!
Marq was well known in the San Gabriel Valley back in the day. He actually played in Ratt prior to Warren DeMartini....
He auditioned for Ozzy early 80’s
he rocks
I think he was hired as a guitar player in King Cobra initially.. then they hear him sing and it was over.. he became the singer... lol
He's good.. Mick Sweda is great!! 💚🎸

Marq you are just as incredible. Touches my heart to have a favorite playing a favorites music
Even before he got signed, he was known as one hell of a guitar player as well. Nice to finally see his skills.
Damn! That is one of the better mean street intros I’ve ever heard. Nobody plays that quite right, except Ed, but this was great!
They sound damned good 🤟🏿🤟🏿
Marq is the ultimate VH fan. He lived the first half his life looking like David Lee Roth & his second half looking like Eddie Van Halen...
I remember seeing him in the early 80’s with his band Torien at the Montebello Plaza parking lot. He was the guitar player and vocalist. I remember he played a lot of VH and Journey cover tunes.
Marq is an amazing singer and guitar player. He’s got lot of soul
Torien did a really good job and I never knew he was this solid of a guitar player. I always dug Bulletboys and still think 'Freakshow' in '91 was their best work. R.I.P. Edward.
Freakshow had Ted Templeman. So it's obvious they sounded like VH
Mark can really shred. Saw him and the rest of the boys last year. They were touring with Winger, and Firehouse. They kicked ass.
Truly marq you are one of the greatest keep it going .
Kid saved the day at the solo
Had no idea Marq played guitar. Great voice and guitar. Wow!
That is killer, thanks for posting 🤘
That was really fun!!! R.I.P. King Edward!!! 🤘🏼❤️🤘🏼
Awesome job guys. Made me smile for a change. Thank you.
Marq is frickin awesome!
I can't get over how good they did with Mean Street, which by far is the best song Van Halen ever put out,, imo Thanks for posting.
Thank you for sharing. I knew Marq could play guitar, but I didn't realize he was this good. Very cool. ❤️🤘
Guitar work was incredible, the singer is amazing also!

Although it was not perfect he definitely has an Eddie feel going and can play pretty dang good.
He had guitar audition in Ozzies band after Randy died But he was a little too young.

I hung out with marq in the 80s they were in toronto at rockn roll heaven for a show amazing guy and band
