Your vr reviews are the best, not too long not too short and straight to the point. Still hoping we will get some of the big Psvr1 games for Psvr2, there are still so many great games I miss since I sold the first headset.
Your graphic summary shows this as a standing only game. That’s not entirely true. It is possible to play in seated mode, but may not be the ideal if you want to put in a normal stance. I’m disabled and play seated just fine. Maybe change your graphic for green yes, yellow possible but not ideal, and red for not supported/possible?
I am also disabled and can’t stand at all playing VR as have bad balance. I really want to try this game and was wondering if you could play sitting down. Thanks for clearing this up for me @selahr.8974
@@badbilluk As long as you’re able to still lean forward or to one side enough to swing your controller with your hand aiming towards the floor you can hit the ball. The game automatically adjusts the putter length so you’ll make contact with the ball regardless of your height. The game settings for your profile allow you to set things like putter head angle and power strength so even if you are playing at an unusual angle or have limited range or speed of swing motion you can still be effective. There is a learning curve for all players because the courses can be tricky, especially the night courses. I was able to get similar scores on my first three games playing against two non-disabled players who had played the game frequently. Upside Town is also a good group challenge that feels like everyone is on equal difficulty because many of the swings happen above your head or on a vertical wall (which the game also had no problem with me sitting to play).
Been looking forward to multiplayer golf in VR for years. Even though it's mini, it looks really fun! Hole-in-one bundle is a no-brainer. 18 courses for $35 is on par with RE8 for $20 as the best deal on PSVR2
Walkabout Mini Golf is one of my favorite games. I play several times a week with friends (one of whom is Wes' wife). I'm happy the PSVR2 people will now be able to enjoy this great game. It's a must buy in my humble opinion.
There's few games I buy more than once but this is definitely one. I've played on Quest, mostly by myself. I just have fun seeing the courses and trying to find those hidden golf balls. Plus the challenge of setting my own personal best kept me going without anyone to play with. It's definitely more fun with others but for me it was still lots of fun by myself. I'm looking forward to getting it tomorrow.
I hope it sell well on PSVR2. Most of my VR gaming experience comes from PSVR1 but I played this on PC with a friend in coop and it was by far some of the best time I had in any VR game. Just the perfect control/physics and just enough content at a very reasonable price point (at least on STEAM). It's a must play VR experience, especially if you can coop with a buddy.

Another great review as always Bryan. Walkabout Mini Golf VR was not even on my radar until you gushed about it on your show and now I can't wait to play!....that and Organ Quarter :D
I've lost my entire night to this game tonight. Absolutely love this game! Only bought the standard and wish there was an upgrade for all the rest already. Only lets me buy the "whole in one" bundle now.
I own this for the Quest 2, but I am considering this for the PSVR2- I assume I can play family members- one using the PSVR2 and the other using the Quest2?
Never thought about just holding something in my hand instead of strapping onto. Makes me think of getting an actual short child's putter, just for the immersion of holding an actual putter
To those consider buying. Please do. If I had the money, I'd buy it for you. :) You get all of the DLCs for $20? That's insane to the point of surpassing the value of anything else I've ever heard of. The low-poly art style is one of the things that makes the game amazing - every angled surface deflects the ball differently, and if you play enough, you can learn every single one that matters. If people ever stop being willing to play with that art style, it'll be a big loss to the game of mini golf. Inside the game, believe me it is really very pretty. Art doesn't have to look like real life in order to be pretty. When he says the base game comes with 8 courses, it's far more accurate to say it comes with 16 courses. How many unique holes does it come with? 18 * 16, not 18 * 8. Every course has a fully redesigned Hard version where every hole is thematically similar to those on the easy course, but the environment is at night, or in the snow, and every hole is different in some important ways, not just simply a big rock slapped in front of the hole every time, even though there is one hole like that. Counted this way, there are a total of 40 courses. The easy courses and the hard courses have to be learned independently - being good at one doesn't make you better at the other. And two new courses (easy/hard) come out every month. I play with some very talented players in a tournament setting. There is a Call of Duty youtuber named GlitchingQueen, she has a twitch channel, and we play our tournaments in there. Everything about this game is far more valuable even than having your own minigolf course in your backyard, let alone having to pay to visit some local one. Join the discord, the public group games opening every half hour at least, the leagues, etc., you really won't understand until you buy the game and do that how incredible this app is, really surpassing what I get out of other "games" by seemingly being something so entirely different from a video game.
Great game. Love to sit here in the wee hours, playing psvr and listening to Brian's dulcet tones review the game im playing. This has been a regular occurence since Catch and Release and Astrobot Rescue Mission on the psvr. Its like a boost of confidence from guys who live and love psvr as much as I do. You are the voice(s) of psvr, glad to see your subs up nearly 6k since the launch of psvr2. Looks like i might lose the bet after all, but its all good. Remember, its 50$ Canadian....so about 6.75$ US.😅
I don’t know what’s going on, this is the only game that has made me feel sick ever in vr. No mans sky, re8, wipeout, Pavlov, gt7, pistol whip, synth riders, all no problems, but walkabout leaves me feeling mild discomfort to where I need to take breaks. Until now I’ve done 4 hour marathons with ease. It’s fun for sure but something is messing with me.
Does anyone know a way to move around using the controller while in the “scorecard” view that features a miniaturised view of the whole course? I don’t have a big enough play space so that rules out walking around.
This game can be played seated. I have played seated since the beginning. But I do need to talk to them or Sony for a height adjustment for this version.
Height adjustment is dead easy on PSVR2! It's in the PS5 options menu under Accessories>PSVR 2>height adjustment. It works for all games, i use it for Pavlov
"Can" and "should" be played seated are two entirely different things - and I don't think Walkabout should be played seated personally. I sit between turns especially if there are a lot of other people playing but need to stand in order to take my shot properly. Other people's experiences with that may vary :D
Thank you for the review Bryan...it's a day 1 purchase. This is also further evidence that (nearly) all things are mostly better in VR...mostly. #gamecat
Great review as always! I pretty much always check your reviews of a VR game before I decide whether or not to take the plunge :) I'm curious to know how viable couch co-op would be for this? Is there an option in-game (or equivalent that would make it simple to swap after each hole/course? Obviously it'll come with the faff of swapping the headset often, but this would be a perfect game for me and my wife if there was some form of easy score tracking/hole replaying that would make couch co-op viable :)
What you can do, and what I used to do with my family before having more than one headset, is set the course to play 9 holes at a time, the front nine or back nine, and then stream the video from the headset onto the pc or TV so that everyone can watch through their eyes, which is entertaining too. Honestly, it is no surprise that of the tons of functionality they've added to the game, they haven't added the ability for you to simultaneously play against yourself as multiple users. It only takes about a minute to do a hole, or even much faster if you've played a course tons of times, so switching after every hole in increments of less than a minute is not something you would even want to do. Switching after every 9 makes much more sense, and it's great.
@@jackfrosterton4135 brilliant, thanks for this :) appreciate you taking the time to explain, and this sounds ideal! Will definitely pick this up when I have the money to spare then :D
You can play solo. Passing the headset back and forth every single shot sounds like a nightmare lol so I guess that's why they didn't include any local co-op
Hi Bryan. Bought this game on your review and as always you nailed it. Anyway, I have a question. My daughter plays this on my PS5 but on a different account so she can find all the balls herself but all the DLC I have, sweetopia, Labyrinth etc she cannot access. I've checked the game content on her account and it says they are all usable but for some reason they have not downloaded to her account. I have app sharing turned on but only the base 8 courses are available. Any ideas.
Have you had a problem with any other DLC? I've heard that games are easy to share but DLC can be tricky to access on multiple accounts. You may want to contact Mighty Coconut or Sony --- they might have a workaround for you! :D
“The best social game in vr” Hard doubt after Pokerstars VR exist now, that one is a social game monster, also since quick match here only loads you into 1 vs 1 matches (did I understand that right?) Still hyped AF for it but this game has probably an amazing experience with friends, less for random lobbies.
It's definitely neck and neck with PokerStars (and PokerStars might even have the edge here) but in all fairness I wrote this review before PokerStars stealth dropped yesterday lol
@@WithoutParole Sure, I do agree, both are heavy hitters in the social game area and I'm just glad we finally got more of these on PSVR2 and also 2 of these kind of games so close to each other, no matter if one or the other has different strengths in it. This aspect is such a huge factor for me in VR games. Amazing video once again. 👍
I have an issue with lost balls. When I close my game and start it again, all my collected lost balls are rolling on the board again. Anyone else with this issue?
absolutely. Just keep track of front/back 9 scores on a whiteboard. Actually goes way faster than RL mini-golf and doing 9 holes at a time makes things more tense at the tensest moments, and less stressful overall at the same time.
Whether you get this game on a pc, a quest, or psvr, it truly doesn't matter. This game is genuinely perfect. Something that you didnt mention in the video is that this game is actually cross-platform, which only makes it better. If your friends have a quest, and you have a psvr, it doesn't even matter, you can still play this awesome game together
what would you say would be the best way to play local multiplayer? It will probably be just me and the SO but I dont think the game has a similar mode like pistol whip or synth riders where it saves player 1's score before passing the headset?
Local co-op would be tricky without a second headset (like a Quest or PCVR) - but if you happen to have one of those laying around that would be the way to go :D
Just do 9 holes at a time and write the back/front 9 score down. Works fantastic and is way faster than what you could do with real mini-golf. Playing a few holes back to back is superior, almost wish it was easier to do irl.
I’m truly hoping that you can help me. I’m in a wheelchair and have to play games sitting down. Is this game something that I can play sitting? Will it be enjoyable? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
At the end of all my reviews I have icons that show whether a game is playable sitting or standing. I personally don't enjoy Walkabout sitting down - it's tougher to gauge power and accuracy. That said, quite a few people have told me that they play Walkabout sitting down, so maybe with some practice you'll be okay! :D
Fantastic I've been waiting to play with the wife on this with my quest and now psvr2. Great review, Quick question you said in the review only one person needs to own the dlc to play so I just wanted to clarify, I recently picked up the bundle on quest so I wouldn't need the psvr2 bundle so we could both play the dlc courses together?
Yup! The only downside is that whoever's playing on your PSVR2 without the DLC won't be able to unlock the hidden balls or clubs. Other than that you should be fine! :D
@@WithoutParole Thanks for clarifying I think il still grab the dlc anyway to have it on both since it's at a discount to begin with and saves not having it on both systems. My wife is better at these golf games so I may regret buying this again 😂
Playing walkabout solo is as fun as playing real minigolf solo. It's good, but not great. Join our discord if you need some PSVR2 friends! We're friendly I swear! :D
Amazing game. But it really needs leaderboards. At least friends leaderboards. Saw an exchange with fans and the devs from 2 years ago asking about this and the devs said they are going to implement it… also needs save replays badly. Both features are crucial for a game like this and easy to do. Hope to see them happen. Game will be a solid 10 then.
Curated leaderboards > automated leaderboards. The fake leaderboards are always hacked and the top scores are never valid runs. Ill take the properly executed discord leaderboard over any automated system any day.
@@Wylie288 Then I wouldn't mind just a friends only leaderboard and more stats in general. and not sure if it's hard to do but single player being able to play two characters on a course would be more interesting.
I have standard version of this at £8,39p while in 1 winter version with all dlc for about £36.99p. I think I will just buy the base version as I’m not sure if I’ll like it. I played golf once or twice as a kid and on Wii and quite enjoyed but not sure about it in vr.
They are extremely cheap. Each one is cheaper than a single round of real life mini-golf. They are no more than $4 a piece. You hardly save money with the bundle because you hardly spend money on the DLC at all.
I just bought this for the Quest2 about 2 weeks ago with all the DLC for $35. I think I'm still waiting for 4 or 5 more courses that havent been released yet.
There are far more courses coming than 4 or 5. That's just the amount of courses coming this year. With the game's success they won't be stopping for years to come.
@@Wylie288 Yeah, I'm still waiting for the last 3 Jules Verne maps to get released. I get those when they come out. I have 20 or so... however many they have released.
Torn between picking up the base game for £11.99 or the "whole in one" version for £28.99. Never played it but it sounds awesome. I think i read that you can play the DLC courses if an online host owns them. Is this right? And can you upgrade to the whole in one package if you buy the base game?
Like I said in this review, even though you only need one person in your group to play the DLC, buying the DLC "Whole in One" Bundle is the way to go. Without owning the DLC you can't find the lost balls or unlock the extra clubs. As far as I know there's no way to upgrade to the discounted bundle if you only buy the core game, so you'd be left buying them at $3 to $4 each
@@WithoutParoleThanks for the reply, I've bitten the bullet and gone for the Whole in One package 😊 Hope we get a full on golf game like Everybody's Golf VR2 at some point
This was possibly my FAVOURITE game on Quest 2. Sadly, had to return the headset before the Myst and Labyrinth levels were released. I so need to get another quest or a psvr2. Does this game have crossplay?
Is it worth getting for somebody who isn’t really a social gamer? None of my direct friends have any VR headsets and I’m not the biggest fan of playing online with randoms. If I get it maybe I’ll try jumping in on a Sunday meet up when this game is selected, but in general I’ve never had many positive experiences playing socially so I generally just avoid it anymore
I mean, playing Walkabout solo is like playing real minigolf solo. Fun but not amazing, I'm not a fan of playing with randoms either but the Gamecat community is amazing so hopefully we'll see you there this Sunday (yup, this Sunday is Walkabout!) :D
Absolutely. Mini-golf is a test of raw physical skill. The skill gap is very large. Plus with all the hidden balls and clue hunts there is plenty to do even if you aren't caring about improving score.

@@WithoutParole thanks for the quick reply. I'll check other games with DLC to see If similar problems. Cheers for the advice.
Great grip tip!
“The best social game in vr”
Hard doubt after Pokerstars VR exist now, that one is a social game monster, also since quick match here only loads you into 1 vs 1 matches (did I understand that right?)
Still hyped AF for it but this game has probably an amazing experience with friends, less for random lobbies.
Bryan making me spend money again.. guess im gonna grab the bundle :DD
Great review as always!
Looks awesome and so relaxing, think I’ll give it a go. Great review!
I would love a tennis vr game
I have an issue with lost balls. When I close my game and start it again, all my collected lost balls are rolling on the board again. Anyone else with this issue?
Looks fun! When is the resident evil 8 review Bryan?
Had hoped this would release at midnight here in Sweden, but nothing yet… Hopefully tomorrow! Hyped 🔥🔥🔥 Oh, and great review as always Bryan ❤️
Are you able to couch-coop? Meaning playing two players if you pass the be headset around?
There's no official party mode, but you can do couch co-op in practice mode
absolutely. Just keep track of front/back 9 scores on a whiteboard. Actually goes way faster than RL mini-golf and doing 9 holes at a time makes things more tense at the tensest moments, and less stressful overall at the same time.
If you have friends to play with, this game is a no brainer
Awesome game. Looking forward to aying with you and all the Cats.
This looks great! Can't wait
Have you tried out the cross play yet? Really keen to play with friends that have this on other platforms.
what would you say would be the best way to play local multiplayer? It will probably be just me and the SO but I dont think the game has a similar mode like pistol whip or synth riders where it saves player 1's score before passing the headset?
Local co-op would be tricky without a second headset (like a Quest or PCVR) - but if you happen to have one of those laying around that would be the way to go :D
Just do 9 holes at a time and write the back/front 9 score down. Works fantastic and is way faster than what you could do with real mini-golf. Playing a few holes back to back is superior, almost wish it was easier to do irl.
Well I guess I am golfing.....😉
I’m truly hoping that you can help me. I’m in a wheelchair and have to play games sitting down. Is this game something that I can play sitting? Will it be enjoyable? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
At the end of all my reviews I have icons that show whether a game is playable sitting or standing. I personally don't enjoy Walkabout sitting down - it's tougher to gauge power and accuracy. That said, quite a few people have told me that they play Walkabout sitting down, so maybe with some practice you'll be okay! :D
@@WithoutParole I really appreciate your help and feedback.
Seems cool but is it fun solo and enough? Don't have any friends with VR...
Playing walkabout solo is as fun as playing real minigolf solo. It's good, but not great. Join our discord if you need some PSVR2 friends! We're friendly I swear! :D
@@WithoutParole might take you up on the offer.
So hard to find out which dlc is worth buying. Ps i screwed up buying on the app didnt really know about the version with all dlc
They are extremely cheap. Each one is cheaper than a single round of real life mini-golf. They are no more than $4 a piece. You hardly save money with the bundle because you hardly spend money on the DLC at all.
When its coming out?😊
liked it on Quest but im in the minority that preferred Pro Putt by Topgolf, known as Golf+ now
Oh crazy I didn't realize Golf+ had mini golf courses too
I love both. Anything golf actually.
A day one purchase with all the DLC for me
i wish in solo you could restart the level instead of needing to go back to the main menu and play the map again
I've been playing this game for a while on my Quest 2. Damn, hearing this music makes me go back again, kinda sad.
Ahhhhhh I CANT WAIT!
Can’t wait
Torn between picking up the base game for £11.99 or the "whole in one" version for £28.99. Never played it but it sounds awesome.
I think i read that you can play the DLC courses if an online host owns them. Is this right?
And can you upgrade to the whole in one package if you buy the base game?
Like I said in this review, even though you only need one person in your group to play the DLC, buying the DLC "Whole in One" Bundle is the way to go. Without owning the DLC you can't find the lost balls or unlock the extra clubs. As far as I know there's no way to upgrade to the discounted bundle if you only buy the core game, so you'd be left buying them at $3 to $4 each
@@WithoutParoleThanks for the reply, I've bitten the bullet and gone for the Whole in One package 😊
Hope we get a full on golf game like Everybody's Golf VR2 at some point
This was possibly my FAVOURITE game on Quest 2. Sadly, had to return the headset before the Myst and Labyrinth levels were released. I so need to get another quest or a psvr2. Does this game have crossplay?
Yup!
gratest vr game
greatest vr game of all time is half life alyx
Love this game. Hopefully they get crossplay!
This is crossplay
It is worth it
Can you drink on the course like IRL?
Of course?
You can have your real drink near by while you play VR, but just don't knock it over. :)
Take my money magic miniputt game, when can you take it?
Awesome, cant wait
