I've had the Tamron 24-70 G1 and when I accidentally destroyed it in a hard fall, I replaced it with the Tamron 24-70 2.8 G2.. I personally prefer it over the Canon EF versions.. Though Canon really killed most every other manufacturer with their RF line up.. both the RF 24-70 2.8 & the 28-70 F2 are just absolute insanity. I will eventually pick up one to keep.
thank you for this information, I am ordering one of these here in the next day or two, Ive been wanting to get 24-70 lense and just dont have the money for the canon and you helped me decide a final pic. thanks
i have the Tamron 70-200 G2 and 15-30 G2 and love both also the 85 1.8 G2, im going to buy the 24-70 soon but i love the G2 lenses i already have, i don't even use any canon glass anymore
Hi! I have an r8 and am currently looking for a versatile, general-purpose lens of great quality. I already have the ef-rf adapter, so EF glass is no problem. I mostly want a lens that is really nice and sharp, up to today's standards, and preferably with an aperture of 2.8 (or 4). My budget is up to about 800€ (used). I really can't make a decision...especially as the older and newer lenses are rarely compared directly to each other or to the current standard. The next lenses are still on my list: EF 24-70 f/2.8 (mark 1) EF 24-70 f/4 EF 24-105 f/4 (either mark 1 or mark 2) Sigma 24-105 f/4 Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 (either mark 1 or mark 2). Which of these would you recommend and why? I would love to hear your insights!!
As far as image quality goes they are all very comparable. The versatility of a 24-70 is unmatched in my opinion especially in scenarios where you need that extra stop of light(F2.8). Where the Tamron gets am extra edge for me is its "VC" which is optical stabilization. I don't think any of the other 24-70 offerings in it's class are stabilized. Thanks for the support!🙏🏼
Shooting a wedding next month at sunset, do you think this could be a viable option versus the canon lens? Been driving myself crazy trying to figure out which lens to get! Appreciate the video bro keep it up!
CoryBeGaming thanks for the encouragement! I absolutely believe in this lens. I've already shot a wedding with it and it performed flawlessly with great end results and I'm actually shooting another wedding TODAY with it lol it'll stay on my camera 95% of the day😬
@Garrett Ware That's awesome! How did the lens do for the Wedding? Really am debating, cause if I go with the G2 then I'm getting the newer version but at the same price point if I want the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 II version even used I'm looking at 1200-1300 and I just don't know if I can swing that. Appreciate the response!
@@GarrettWare I'm excited man! Did my fair share of research before I pulled the trigger! Finally convinced that this lens is a better investment than the canons 24-70 ii given that lens is sharper but with the built in stabilizer and the price difference. It's a no brainier for me to get the Tamron
Great question! I personally have seen no talk from Tamron on a G3 but it would be great to have an updated version that was a little lighter haha as much as I love this lens it's a tank
BOGO TUBE that mmiigghhtt stretch the weebill S a tiny bit! The Tamron is fairly heavy lol I have a Tilta G2X gimbal and it feels super heavy on it and that's with a 10lb payload on the Tilta. I would say try it though and see if it is a possibility!🤘🏼
I would as your wide to medium range but if you’re trying to get shots of subjects on stage and really punch in I'd accompany it with a 70-200mm! Hope this helps👊🏼
You absolutely can! It's an EF mount version which means it'll fit perfectly👍🏼 Just keep in mind with the 80D you will have about a 1.5x crop factor with your focal lengths.
@@GarrettWare yeah it's a 1.6 and that's okay with me cause i don't know if i want to buy a full frame camera i mean i hear a lot of good things but i'm alright with my 80d but i want the 90d so i will have 2 cameras instead of 1. i think 6 lens are good enough for me. my next lens will be the 24-70 then the 18-35 from sigma the 24mm 1.4 from sigma and the 70-200 and i'll be straight. and i also need a flash
@@GarrettWare yeah one is 24.2 and the other one is 32.5 that would be nice for me. who knows maybe i'll get a full frame if the price is right lol but for right now i'm doing my homeworl. so tell me about the 860 ii flash from godox please
I hope someone can help me with a question I have. I shoot with a Nikon D7500 (crop sensor) and plan to upgrade to this exact lens. I won't be in the market to upgrade to full frame for another couple of years. Will this lens still work with my current camera body?
FILM 2.0 thanks for the encouragement! It's actually a pretty silent AF! If you go back to the beginning of the vid where it was hunting, you can't even hear it. Or I can't at least haha!
Nice review. In the begining you are so eagerly trying to sell Sigma which makes me think that it is the history you've had with Sigma that makes you kind of lean towards them. Some of the points I have cought: 1. Price of Tamron is lower than Sigma by MSRP 100$ (currently they are +/- the same in terms of price, but it reallllllly depends on where you are located on the globe). 2. Sigma's IS is virtually non existent vs. Tamron has an impressive 5 stop VR. 3. Tamron has full weather sealing w. Sigma's only weather gasket at the mount 4. Sigma is heavier by ~100g.
Unfortunately I have no experience with the RF. I would imagine with it being native (I'm assuming you're working with RF mount camera) you'll see better performance from the 24-105!
@@GarrettWare I looked at some raw files of 24-105 mm and did not satisfy me in terms of sharpness. I prefer 24-70 mm. 24-105 mm quite a long for me but of course RF mount may bring more performance.

Any update on the Canon R6 with tamron 24-70 g2? I find the IBIS not to be as steady and it being heavy.
Do you think that firmware update will make it lighter?
I have the Tamron lens and I LOVE the performance Thanks
