A Beautiful Beginner Friendly Furniture Makeover in a Few Simple Steps!

- In Todays furniture makeover I’m using Dixie Belle Silk all in one Mineral paint in the color Badlands to update this desk. I sand the top and add VooDoo Gel Stain in Tobacco Road. I sealed the top using A Clear Coat in Satin. The clear coat in combination with Tobacco Road gave the top of this desk a gorgeous gleaming finish. I cleaned up the hardware and added a little gold gilding wax. I hope you enjoy the video.

Great choice on finishes. I think the young lady in the thrift store would have a different opinion of this desk after seeing your lovely version.

Looks great! When you first put the paint on i thought Yuk, doggy doo, but once the top was done it brought the whole desk to life. It's just gorgeous ❤

So pretty!!! Love the color with the wood top. I have question I have a desk very similar and I am going to use it as my bathroom vanity with a vessel sink. Will the Dixie Belle top coat be water repellent enough or should I use something else?

Dixie Belle has a top coat for high traffic areas called Gator Hide. It’s also good for repelling water. I’ve never used it on a bathroom vanity but I remember reading an article from Salvaged Inspirations blog where she used it in her bathroom. So it might be a good option.

I just stumbled upon your you tube channel. I see that you have used Dixie Belle products but have also used DIY paint. Do you think you can use Dixie bell paint and DIY sealer to the same piece? I love the Dixie Belle paints but recently saw some videos with liquid patina that can be used as a top coat that I would like to try. I have asked in the stores where I’ve purchased the supplies, but they only sell one of the other, so they can’t (or won’t) really give you an answer.
