Thrifted Furniture gets a MAKE-UNDER!

In this furniture makeover video, I found this Pier 1 furniture at the thrift store and refinished it! I ended up using Dixie Belle’s Chalk Mineral Paint in the color Muscadine Wine and the Bohemian Dream Furniture transfer along with gold gilding wax to recreate the original vibe of the furniture.

Strip it. Paint it gloss white. I can make that middle piece part of both doors. But I advise against it with out a little more woodworking experience. ✌🥰

I’m in the minority here and while I think this did turn out beautiful, my thought was to save the burl wood in the center part and paint the rest black…in my opinion, it would have made the grain pop….I would have painted the wood burl on the outer sections so it didn’t look like a patchwork quilt. But it still is a great looking piece.

You are right, maybe if I had painted the patchwork along with the black, it would’ve worked out. I tried lol I just didn’t see that in my head at the time.

Lol. I have those very same cabinets (x2) plus the matching nightstands in my master bedroom as we speak! We purchased them from Pier One when they first came out-before Bo-ho was even a thing! I fell in love with them and they weren’t cheap! I have been looking at them lately thinking hmmmmmmm, they need a makeover. Thanks for the inspiration Amy! Just checked, my cabinets are bigger and a bit different but from the same line. I never realized that was burl wood!

I was thinking a ton of people probably have this set! While I was sick, I was staring at it for days thinking they are actually pretty cool looking. I think that’s why I struggled so much with this makeover. I kinda didn’t want to paint it.
It was so random sitting alone at the thrift store but I bet as a set they look great.
