Boring to Bold Furniture Makeover using Chalk Mineral Paint

- Today I’m giving this old vanity a furniture makeover using Dixie Belle’s Chalk Mineral Paint. The piece is beautiful as is but i think it can be so much more. I want to enhance the original cottage vibe by adding a little pop of color and some gorgeous waxes.

The brown wax over the green came out perfect!! The mirror, drawer fronts and leg details look so beautiful now!! The salve over the wood makes the wood look perfect!! Great transformation on this vanity!!
My Momma always said " Accessories make the outfit!". And you proved it on this fabulous piece!!! Really made this rather bland look shine like a night on the town! Great job as always!!!! LOVE IT

Whew! So happy u left the mahogany finish on vanity tops does look nice but I luv the original look even with its imperfections it’s an antique

Great job explaining how to “blend” the wax. Aren’t hubbies cute when they encourage us? Mine has asked me a couple of times how long it will take me to paint our bed that I started today. He is great with tools and building things. He wasn’t sure about my painting at first but now completely supports me and gets a kick out of my approach to things. Funny how he trusts me to help him a little more now. He actually let me help him hang wood to repair a fence yesterday. First time in almost 29 years he let me use his drill to screw in something while he held it. I know it kinda sounds stupid but it wasn’t lost on me and I enjoyed helping him.

I love this piece! My parents used to have a furniture stripping and refinishing business when I was growing up and I had a vanity very similar to this one that they refinished in much the same color. I think they ended up disassembling it at some point and using the mirror in a bathroom! I wish I still had it. I love what you did with this one, it's perfect!

Very Very Pretty!! I have my Great Grandmother’s bedroom suite.. I have headboard/footboard and side rails..dressing table with mirror and sm. bench seat and a 4 drawer chest of drawers.. I sleep on it every night and love it so much. My Grandmother paid to have it refinished for me many years ago and except for a few small areas it’s still in pristine condition😊 So I see why one would want to keep the wood look, I really loved the green paint and dark wax😍😍😍😍😍

My favourite of all your makeovers, I love the fact that you really respected the original piece, and did the minimum to make it look amazing. Yay, for wood enhanced by just the right amount of paint.

The green you used I believe is the exact same green or very close to the green I used. What a diservice I did to this beautiful piece of art work. We kept glass on the 3 surfaces when it was in its original finish. After I painted it I only used glass on the middle section because one of the smaller ones broke and I was till in nursing school. No monies for a piece of glass back then. The saddest part is I cannot recall where it ended up!

Love it. You can find those old vanities a lot at Goodwills in the southeast. I disn't get to re-do one I had found with a round mirror. I was going to be a Jasmine from Alladin theme with the teal and gold ❤

Good results with paint & natural warm wood color. Personally, I keep my wood and contrasting color value in the same categories of: warm to warm, cold to cold, etc. In this case, perhaps a warm contrasting color (with the wood color) could have been a light-to-mid (warm) sandy color that would have made this vintage piece easier to integrate into a residential decor. Overall, excellent work & great improvement. Warm regards!

I like what you did with the over all polishing and gold trimming but I don’t care for the color at all. I owe a beautiful bureau that I would love to wash down and polish it up, I don’t think my husband ever did anything too it. The piece is over 60 year old, so that you for the tips on how to give your furniture a polish look.❤
