Solid video man, feel like I signed up for a 40K Masterclass. Pumped for more in this beginner series. I’ve only played 2 games with my Necron army, but your channel has inspired me to set a 2025 goal of getting into a GT before end of the year.
Played my first 2k game with Starshatter last weekend and your videos have helped me a ton. I like the point you made at 12:47 where you talk about the DDA's not shooting anything in the first two turns. It was really eye-opening seeing it on the table since it's almost like chess! The piece has value just by standing there and screening. So thanks for helping me get better.
my friends started out on GK and custodes so thankfully trial and error has helped me learn to screen, tbh i really dont have an issue with sparing some points to dedicate to screening/scoring units to sit at the back for a bit
Another great video with fantastic information! Last game I played I screened out really well, and managed my move-blocks fairly well. Could probably have done a better job, but it's all a learning experience :)
Is it ever worth taking scarabs? I feel like D3 mortal wounds and a screen into melee armies for 40 points is kind of amazing, no? I don’t really get why we never see them
Another wonderful video. I face a lot of deathwatch and screening is tough. They can drop in and shoot from far away! They shoot over your screen or kill all your screens and then uppy downy and drop in again when you have no screens left. I find that screening works best only if you have a counter punch. As an example if 6 Inceptors drop in they will kill what thery shoot...what is your plan to kill 6 T6 3 wound models?
So I got a video idea maybe for someday in the future: As I struggle a lot to get my army list to fit the tournaments terrain with necrons. I had to play on an extremely dense terrain with almost no possibility to drawing lines of sight without getting my range units in an area where they are in charge range to an enemy melee unit. As a necron this terrain forces me to play a very melee focused list (DDAs are not a useful unit at all f.e.).
Ohhh boy! Trust me stick around! We have a teams tourney coming up next month. Going to highlight this EXACT thing in a video. Because there is a lot that goes into it behind the scenes
Sorry, si im kind of new to the game, but what is screening, i think that was an important part of the few first minutes of the video i didnt know what that is
Screening is essentially the act of using more disposable units as a moving shield in front of your main force. They are thrown into the front lines to try and slow down an enemy’s army by blocking their movement and stand in the way absorbing resources that would otherwise be available to use against your key strategic units. Oftentimes they are cannon fodder used to take map control.
@@MrJWrizzle yeah against certain armies you need to screen from deep strikes. It’s still a disposable buffer “in front” of your key units to prevent them from being engaged in disadvantageous situations.
mmmm I just dont think your going to see Ctan doing well in the meta right now. Problem is mirror matchup when they have ignore mods and even death guard being popular Ctan are going to have a bad time
I'm thinking 2 ddarks in back for screening with 2 3 man ophydian units. Move em when I need em. Warrior ball with orikan reanimator Tsk with spyder and reanimator Barge and 6x tomb blades to play with 3x more tomb blades to play with Immotek and his hexmark bestie in-between the ddarks Flayed Ones for out front screen/scout deny

This is EXACTLY who it is for! the stuff I wish I had before I starting playing
@@PNW40K This is a big help for me. What tools would you recommend bringing to the table? Like tokens, measurement tools etc?

Man glad you are here! Lets keep learning and getting better!
Watched this an hour after it was released, couldnt have clicked any faster. Please do more!
appreciate you and glad you are here!
Thanks for doing these types of 40K coaching videos they help tremendously! Your content is great brother really enjoying the channel
Jokes on you, I play Custodes, so there are not enough models to even have a screen.
😂😂😂
Great video. Thanks for sharing your insights.

a comment at the beginning about what screening is would go a long way
Appreciate the feedback!

This is cool! What are you using to to display the map? Is this a custom tool for moving units around?
the software is Canva, I found a comment of his on a previous video
For 10th, how useful is an alpha strike. Should you sit back and wait, or barrel towards them?
Depends on matchup

Every thought of trying an trancendant c'tan with the 2x3 units of ophidians for extra screening and movment tricks?
Perhaps in a Kingless list...

Why dont you run the orikan warrior blob more? And tsk ball is that good huh? The 3 tips was also very helpful

Its pretty darn annoying to get rid of. 26 wounds 6 fnp 5 fnp against mortals 2 up 4 up react move -1 dmg
I don’t know what screening is.
Screening is blocking your opponents movement with pieces and or screening the board so they cant come in via reserve or deep strike
