I’ve broken both hips over the yrs- never badly enough for surgery or traction😅- but I’m always suffering from some type of hamstring tightness or discomfort- to the point of sciatica. It doesn’t stop me! But it does slow me down. I feel like this helped me tremendously! I don’t fire my posterior chain, I think as self preservation from the discomfort it causes. So my glutes are weak and a lot of my power comes from my anterior chain- which has caused me some excessive flexor soreness recently. I think understanding this will help me balance out addressing these new issues! TY ONCE AGAIN FOR SOME GREAT INFORMATION 😎💕🙏🏻

thank you for pointing this out!!!! I literally do this all the time and really struggle to break the habit and as a result always get back pain when hip hinging. Do you have a suggestion for excercises or ways I can retrain the correct way to do it?

You can play around with retraining this by karate chopping your hips so that you are sitting straight back or I will also put my hands so that they are touching my ribs and and my pelvis and make sure that the distance between the ribs and pelvis don't change. :)

Great video, thanks! I've just discovered that I was (am still) doing at least two mistakes you've pointed out, that is hinging without moving backwards and no ab support. Weird in my case is that I have lower back pain from the center to the left side, not both sides. Would those 2 faults still be "suspects" in that case? Thanks again!

They could be. So hard to know without seeing you move. Finding someone to work with you in person is a great place to start. Follow this link to find someone who has taken my PCES course.

My low back hurts the worst when I vacuum or mop a floor. Same rule of thumb? I find myself almost pushing my stomach out when bending over instead of engaging my corset and gluteals first.

Learn to embrace your core. Actively and mindfully engage/tighten your core muscle whenever you bend down.

Mine hurts when I come up from a hip hinge. :( Felt it for the first time 3 days ago. It hurts in general, but I feel an increase in pain when coming up. I will have to check my form.
I actually just finished physical therapy for a lower back problem, but my PT reminded me that I'm still stronger and more flexible and this is not the big setback I'm perceiving it as. Plus, I will continue several exercises at home.
He said it sounds like a soft tissue injury and to not keep checking if it hurts because then I just keep hurting it more. I can pick things up without pain as long as my back remains straight (so if I lunge).
Thanks for the video. Hopefully within a week, I can try it and not have that pulled muscle type pain when coming up from that position.
