Do you know the difference of a 1inch RGB sensor like IMX 383 vs so called 1 inch sensor from DJI Air 3S that is binning BAYER tech, in fact being a sensor way under 1 inch as size and only 12 MPx raw instead of 20+ Mpx????? If YES, why all DJI ASS KISSERS present this drone as 50MPx 1inch, when in fact is under 1inch and Bayer tech 12MPx main camera? ??????
It depends on your use case, your experience with cameras and photography and videography, your budget and if you care about a better camera, or better safety systems and active track. Get the Mavic 3 Pro if you have a lot of experience with photography, and video and for whatever reason require the best.. it’s weight carries it over the 900g limit for a C1 type drones limiting where you fly without training and certifications making it a bit more a hassle to work with. Get the Air 3s if you are just getting into the hobby, focus on your shots/ positioning and safety features and flying, with the added benefit of safety now while flying in low light scenarios. The weight is under 900g so it fits into a C1 category (depending on where you live) which makes this far more accessible to use and take off with. The Mavic 4 probably won’t arrive till 2025 mid/late. So I wouldn’t worry too much, even if you got a Mavic 3 Pro, and the M4 came out in a month after. You’re still using an extremely impressive kit on a portable drone that can fit in a lunchbox. Realistically, I tell people to get the one they want, within reason of course. The best drone to probably get if you’re starting off is the Mini 4 Pro given its C0 sub 250g category. Far easier and far more fun to fly because you don’t have to worry about restrictions beyond basic safety legislation. You can get more practice in and fit it in an everyday carry bag. Plus if you make a mistake and crash it, at least you did it on a sub £1000 drone package. Instead of a potentially 2k-4K package. Let me know what you think. I’m curious.
@@GhostTheAssassin thanks for the information I’ve already got a mini 3 pro so looking to upgrade, I enjoy flying it but I realise that the camera just isn’t quite cutting the mustard with what I would like to achieve. With already owning a drone it can afford me the time to hold off on a purchase to make sure the next one I get is exactly what I want and will last me for years to come
@@joypaddad2386 Now that I’ve probably over explained everything you likely already know, I suppose i could drop my two-cents on your position. The air3s would still a be a pretty big jump in camera quality and maintain (for the most part ease of use) but it sounds like you are already thinking about the best money can get and the M4. If i was to put money on it i would guess that the M4 would release mid/late 2025. Possess all the features that thr Air3S has and have the (leaked) larger circular gimble. The main camera sensor looks larger this time around if the leaks are to be believed, and would no doubt be outstanding tech. So if you can wait 6 months -14months longer then wait. If not grab an air3s in the meantime. it will ultimately depend on where you live and what rules and regs you have to follow. The EU already recognise that the Mavic 3 Pro is a C1 drone despite being 58g heavier. The M4 will either try to target 900g and make some drone sacrifices. Or it will more likely pile it on an embrace the C2 weighing 1KG or above.
I would go with the Mavic classic. Much better images and due to the much bigger sensor zooming in 3-4 x is lossless compared to the much smaller sensor on the Air.
@@ThePNWRiderWA Hmm, I agree. The mavic classic, just for the single larger sensor would give you far milage, then a pro version. Still better photos and low light performance than the air 3s

Great review & footage 😊 I've had a Mini 2 for over 2 years now but looking to also get another and I'm torn between the Air 3S and Mini 4 Pro. The location immediately looked familiar. We've visited Lanzarote ten times over the years (before I got the drone). Recognised the beaches at Papagayo beyond Playa Blanca, Famara and Timanfaya National Park. Having experienced the winds there, you sure had good conditions for testing stability 😉 I hope to fly over there as well when we return 😊
The night obstacle avoidance of air3s does not only rely on lidar, but also the surrounding visual sensors have obtained lower light sensitivity, so it can avoid obstacles even in dark light.
Hi Darren, great video mate. A minor point - on 2 of your screens when discussing obstacle avoidance you say that the drone is “breaking” because of the obstacle sensed. I think you meant “braking”. A Freudian slip perhaps? All your vids are terrific, with great info and explanations. Many thanks for sharing!❤

@@DMProductions i know mate. 14 stops of range and even better low light than the old 3 year mav, all these new features too... makes the mavic 3 a bit obsolete in a way.
Another great video, thank you! The stability is nuts! As someone flying a Mini 4 Pro, with a Flyer ID & Operator ID, considering this drone, can you point to any resource that simply summarises the differences in moving from sub 250g to this? What do I need to do, as well as different restrictions?
I had a Magic 3 pro and for some God aweful reason I sold it, so I have the Mini 4 pro left. How would you rate the air three S compared to these two maybe in the middle? What I benefit by getting an A3S over the mini 4 pro
if for commercial use/professional and you are already a certified drone operator go for A3s. mini4pro is for beginner, vloggers and people who don't want to get a certified drone pilot license and don't want to register their drone.
This is the one drone i was waiting for!!! awesome footage by the way!! thanks for the video. Now all i need is a bag full of money to get me this awesome drone!!
Great video and very informative, just like your other reviews on the Air 3. Bought the Mini 4K in July and it is an amzing drone giving great footage. Wanted to up the game and started researching other DJI Drones and came across your reviews on the Air3 which sold it for me and was about to order one till i heard the Air 3S was coming out so waited. Was released today in the UK and bought the Air 3S - RC2 combo package which arrives tomorrow and can't wait. @DMProductions The Air 3S looks to be a stellar drone!! Based on your review, if the Air 3S is this much better than the Air 3, then I can't wait to see what Mavic 4, Mini 5 Pro, Avata 3 series and etc will look like!! The one thing DJI does better than any other drone company, the engineers improve on the technology built in every drone. Through firmware updates, new models, new lineups, they tend to build upon the previous technology to make their drones even better than before. Thanks also for enlightening on what controllers are included in the packages, having the RC 2 already I would be all in to buy the Air 3S by itself and pair it with my already-purchased controller. And if it becomes compatible with the Goggles 3...oh boy!!! Thanks as always
@@DMProductions OK. I'm not in the market to get the Air 3S per sé, but nonetheless it is remarkable to see the progress of drone technology, in such a short span of time!! I have the mini 4 pro and the air 3 and the new Mavic. I find myself using the mini all the time because of the ease and non intrusiveness even for work. No client has ever said about the lack of quality. The new air 3s is not worth it ….. to me
@pudsboi5203 The Air 3S is a big jump in crash avoidance, now can see wires, so right now my Neo is perfect as it can hit wires all day and never get damaged, but for sure the Mini 5 will be on my radar if it can match the Air 3S obstacle avoidance!
@@gregb1599 yes, i love the size of the Mini 3 pro, and a definite advantage especially for travel. Going to hold out and see what the Mini 5 pro has in upgrades.
So you'd recommend this over a mini pro series for the average Joe looking to take cycling videos? How much bigger is it in terms of everything you need to take...? I was fairly convinced on the mini 4 pro until I watched your Air 3 long term review and now this. Hello indecision lol 😂
I have the 4 pro and just bought the 3S. I haven't replaced the mini but adding to it. I'd not swap the Mini 4 pro for one because of the sub 250g advantages but this one compliments it for me.
Appreciate the detailed review. Any news on the tracking dongle? I thought that was going to be part of the release. Or can you not talk about that yet? 😉
OMG I have literally held on to my Air 2S for this video. Was on the edge of my seat and about to fork out for the Air 3 but man oh man, was this worth the wait. Now ti find me a kidney.
Your videos are good but for some of us who are just beginning they are too much to try to comprehend all of this knowledge that you are giving us if we don't know what you are talking about! Can you please do a few videos for beginners like me?
What I would want to know, as a just "fly for fun" pilot is with the Lidar and 360 deg. sensing, is it still prone to (as its now time for the leaves to go), to hit the small tree branch tips that lie in wait???
The audio sponser came at the right time, i dont want to spend 300 euros at once for a music subscription like artlist, struggeling with that for a while now, thanks!
They've never been interpolated or extrapolated. The Air 2 for example which I own has a 48 megapixel sensor but it has a 12 megapixel color filter which makes sense once you understand why. I surmise the Air 3S is similar but I haven't seen an explanation. I'm on here simply trying to find out the aperture of the main camera. I saw a rumor from a few days ago of f 1.8 but I also saw f 2.4.
Matches good, you can use d-log m on both, I use nd32 80% if the time and only difference you’ll see is low light but my fireworks examples was both focal lengths
Sold my DJI Mini 4 Pro combo this afternoon in anticipation of the Mini 5 Pro, not holding much hope for the 1inch sensor, probably have the new one in the Action 5 Pro, really hoping they are gonna reintroduce hand gesture control though and better Active Track. Would love an Air 3s, my wifes coming back from China again shortly, price there for the Air 3s flymore kit is £1075. But its too big for me when im hiking and camping. Great video as usual 👍🏻
Are bringing new Cheat Sheets for the 3s or is it similiar to the air 3? Asking, because i love your sheets! i want to have one for my just ordered air 3s :-)
Great test, great drone but I'd rather stick with my Mini 4 Pro ^^.Why? A. because the Air3S is too big and heavy for me B. I wouldn't exactly be traveling in stealth with that C. Too few upgrades compared to the Mini 4 pro and the Air 3
So for somebody that's new to drones especially DJI it's like a whole bunch of different lines What makes this air s line special compared to the others?
compared to the regular Air 3, the Air 3S is just a midlife refresh for the 3 series with a few extra features like a 1 inch sensor, new LiDAR obstacle avoidance and some software features. Both drones are relatively similar in most other regards(including the 70mm lens except the new 14 stops of DR). compared to other drones, its heavier and got a better camera(and dual camera) when compared to the Mini 4 Pro, with better wind stability and speed. both have the same O4 transmission. Compared to the Mavic 3 Pro, the Mavic has the better camera(5K, 4/3 sensor) but the Mavic series is slightly worse in pretty much every other way.
Nice upgrades but I’m going to stick with the Air 3 I only use it when the wind is too strong for the Mini 4 Pro but I hope they at least bring Lidar to the Mini 5 Pro because you almost sold me with the whole night flight demonstration😂. I was hoping the DJI RC Trac was going to be released also.
Finally! I can save my money and stick with my Mavic 3 Pro/ mini 4 Pro..👍 Great content though🫡👌Air 3s is awesome but will be waiting for a big jump upgrade like me coming from phantom 2 to phantom 4 pro to air2s jumped to Mavic 3 pro, spark to mavic air jumped to mini 4 pro…

Question, will it raise your over all price of the goods and services your selling? If the answer is no then you’re wasting money and I don’t expect your business to last with these types of decisions.
Pretty certain upgrading his drone won't put his business under. And if it does, it wasn't a good business to begin with 😂
How do you know if you're exposed properly if shooting in log
Turn on display assist. Always expose to the right with drones. These tiny sensors are not the best if you under expose the shots
mav 3 listed for sale on the bay now, ordering this today. been waiting a few years for a proper upgrade to the 2s and it hasnt disappointed, thank god
Sure is a great upgrade I can’t see my using the mavic 3 pro much at all now
@@DMProductions i know mate. 14 stops of range and even better low light than the old 3 year mav, all these new features too... makes the mavic 3 a bit obsolete in a way.
One more Question; Does the video bitrate speeds affect the Iive video transmission? I don't much about that stuff. Thanks man!
Many thanks for great review. I have Dji mini 3 pro. Didnt use much before. Is it worth for upgrade? Thanks in advance
That’ll be a huge upgrade !
@@KeenTBaaMTV the faa certification is completely pointless when hobbies can fly the exact same drones without any qualification. It’s illogical.
This is the one drone i was waiting for!!! awesome footage by the way!! thanks for the video. Now all i need is a bag full of money to get me this awesome drone!!
Haha good luck dude
Thanks!
Thanks for the video…. Is it worth upgrading from the 3 to the 3S? Also… isn’t the tracking all just in the software?
I have a video coming on this, the new chip is the reason for the improved tracking and LIDAR and sensors have been improved
@DMProductions lol, how can lidar sensors have been improved? This is the first DJI to have lidar. Just teasing you, I know what you meant.
@@gregb1599 Like NEW and Improved??
Your review was top class
Much appreciated!
Great video my friend! Waiting for mine to arrive 👍🏻 oh and great desert shots 💯👌🏻
Saving for one now, at that price point it's a steal !
Excellent review mate!
Glad you liked it
Great video and very informative, just like your other reviews on the Air 3. Please don't recommend anymore for a while as the wife will be screwing having just spent another £1,400 ouch. Keep up the good the good work and will be watching your future videos on the Air 3S. 👍
Is the Air3s worth upgrading from a mavic 2 pro?
have same question...
Great review Darren does the pano stitching work better on the controller?
The new free pano is getting me much better results
Awesome as always. Wondering if you have any instructional videos on how colour grade. I have Final Cut Pro. I’m purchasing the Air 3s and mini 4 pro. And am new to this. Thanks.
Hey I have a few videos on my channel but I’ll do an updated version soon
Thats amazing Darren, as always whenever a new DJI profuct is out, i always think of you and count on you to do a good review and didnt you half nail it lol, the desert shots were wow, amazing drone, thanks for sharing this
Thank you so much appreciate this 🙏🙏
@@DMProductions Your welcome, must be a privialge to know what the product is gonna be before us guys know what it is lol
Does this drone do true vertical photos/video?
Is it worth the upgrade? From the Air 3 & something about the Picture looks cgi idk maybe it's me.
believe me I don't use any upscaling this is directly from the drone with some Luts added on d-log M clips
Thank you ! Yes goggles 3 firmware will be coming
@@DMProductions OK. I'm not in the market to get the Air 3S per sé, but nonetheless it is remarkable to see the progress of drone technology, in such a short span of time!! I'm still waiting on the Neo to be available, my friend. Once I get that, I'll be well stocked and comfortable with my equipment...until I'm ready for the Mavic 4 Pro when it comes out 😃
You know I will be watching your content videos for Air 3S in the months to come 🏆
Mavic 3 classic or air 3s, please help I’m on the fence.
I currently have the mini 3 pro and I have a neo which basically just a toy for quick trips. I was planning to upgrade to the mini five pro but now this air 3S looks pretty awesome and probably would be a better buy for me. The mini three pro without the sideways Avoidance is a little bit of a drawback, but I’ve learned to deal with it and stop hitting things after I trashed my mini 2 What do you think?
You wasn’t flying very fast. Go fast can you fly for the LiDAR to work/not work?
great review as always Sir , thank you
Thank you kindly
All were expecting dji mini 5 pro or even dji action 5 pro to get 1 inch sensor.
3s with one inch sensor is a surprise.
When will mini 5 pro launch?
Ordered through Amazon UK while they have stock. Should be here tomorrow. Do you think they will make it compatible with the goggles 3?
Yes I would think via firmware
you left out anything about mapping. can you use waypoints? Are the quick shots the same?
Yes Quickshots, Mastershots, cruise control and waypoints all the same
So you'd recommend this over a mini pro series for the average Joe looking to take cycling videos? How much bigger is it in terms of everything you need to take...? I was fairly convinced on the mini 4 pro until I watched your Air 3 long term review and now this. Hello indecision lol 😂
@@dharmamat for that use case just get the mini 4 pro it’s more than enough ☺️
Thank you for the good video you make 🙏
Thank you too
Is this much better than the DJI Mini Pro 4? Is it worth the upgrade?
I have the 4 pro and just bought the 3S. I haven't replaced the mini but adding to it. I'd not swap the Mini 4 pro for one because of the sub 250g advantages but this one compliments it for me.
@@typhoon-7 alright, thank you!!
Great review! Thank you 😊
Great video once again mate. Will the batteries from an Air 3 work with the new Air3S.
Thank you
Yes they will
@DMProductions Thanks very much mate.
You still give the best reviews on RUclips 👌
Appreciate the detailed review. Any news on the tracking dongle? I thought that was going to be part of the release. Or can you not talk about that yet? 😉
Problem with leaks not everything is correct, no news on tracking dongle or when it will be released sorry
Great video thank you, any word on that RC Puck / Tracker?
that will come later its still being worked on
@@DMProductionsRoger that, I’m grabbing the Air 3s at the end of the month.
Thanks for your review! Really informative. And amazing scenery. Where did you film this?
Thank you, lots of places, Norway, Canary Islands and UK
Great review
Really good job
Thank you ☺️
Just 1 question, does the new lidar sensor works with sports mode ?
OMG I have literally held on to my Air 2S for this video. Was on the edge of my seat and about to fork out for the Air 3 but man oh man, was this worth the wait. Now ti find me a kidney.
Haha good luck
Your videos are good but for some of us who are just beginning they are too much to try to comprehend all of this knowledge that you are giving us if we don't know what you are talking about! Can you please do a few videos for beginners like me?
What I would want to know, as a just "fly for fun" pilot is with the Lidar and 360 deg. sensing, is it still prone to (as its now time for the leaves to go), to hit the small tree branch tips that lie in wait???
The audio sponser came at the right time, i dont want to spend 300 euros at once for a music subscription like artlist, struggeling with that for a while now, thanks!
Perfect! Its great value
Good first look Darren
Thanks 👍
What are the native resolutions of the wide and telephoto sensors? (Non extrapolated)
That is awesome, outstanding, and the video. ❤
Really is such a great drone now, think I’ll sell the mavic 3 pro
@@DMProductions it makes sense for what you do and where you go Darren. No sign of a mini 5 pro lol 🙏
How well does the video quality match when flipping between cameras. Will you need to match in post?
Matches good, you can use d-log m on both, I use nd32 80% if the time and only difference you’ll see is low light but my fireworks examples was both focal lengths
@@DMProductions cool. Thanks!
Takes a wide angle panorama with the camera pointing vertically down like a mavic or not ?
Sold my DJI Mini 4 Pro combo this afternoon in anticipation of the Mini 5 Pro, not holding much hope for the 1inch sensor, probably have the new one in the Action 5 Pro, really hoping they are gonna reintroduce hand gesture control though and better Active Track.
Would love an Air 3s, my wifes coming back from China again shortly, price there for the Air 3s flymore kit is £1075.
But its too big for me when im hiking and camping.
Great video as usual 👍🏻
Hi mate wich is better between mavic 3 classic or air3s?
I’d go for the air3s just for the additional tele lens
Great content 👍
Thank you ☺️
Are bringing new Cheat Sheets for the 3s or is it similiar to the air 3? Asking, because i love your sheets! i want to have one for my just ordered air 3s :-)
Yes I will be doing ☺️
Great test, great drone but I'd rather stick with my Mini 4 Pro ^^.Why?
A. because the Air3S is too big and heavy for me
B. I wouldn't exactly be traveling in stealth with that
There are more and more DJI models, and I don’t know how to choose?
Had hoped to get more infos about the new GPS remote. Any news here? Do you think it will be compatible with the air 3?
Rumours don’t always get it correct, maybe in the future we might see it
if its a o4 transmission maybe it will.
