In primary school Social Studies in High School History, one of the main problem facing African countries is Brain Drain meanwhile this govt is now institutionalizing it. Soon only below average workers will be left in Kenya and our service industry will tank, and then our own products will become terrible. I'd love to see the study where there is a country which has ever prospered by shipping out its brains
KK is essentially a case study on how to ruin a country in the shortest time possible.

It is not that there are no jobs, endemic corruption has killed enterprise! Diaspora jobs should be for excess supply, not for the core! We should also focus more on exporting skills (through online jobs) so that the full proceeds of the job will be spent locally.

I disagree!! So you’re happy to HAVE to send MONEY home. That’s the work of the government. Kenyans should only leave Kenya out of want NOT necessities or pay, just like in the west they come to Kenya, not for pay or better lifestyle. So that’s she’s not informed in my view and vey myopic.

Rosalyn - pls don’t hype this mkulima majuu job. It is by all means and purposes manual labour! Yes the farms are mechanised but it’s still manual labour like picking strawberries. The guys start work like 5am and finish 3pm. The accommodation provided is basic caravans and you pay rent. No food provided.
I know this because I live in the UK and my nephew is on that program.
Pls don’t make it sound like a professional job - it’s not. These jobs came up after Brexit because UK can no longer get cheap labour from Eastern Europe

How can we be proud of looking for jobs abroad for our youth?!?! Let alone jobs of housemaids and drivers! Of all the projects this current regime has rolled out, this is the worst to me. No well-meaning leader in this world can send out its youth EVER. Just do the hard work of industrializing the country, encourage controlled globalization and make business easier to start/run.

Well, first of all I think most Kenyans would like to stay I. Kenya if the opportunities were here,
So, subsequently, it is the job of this and any other government to create those jobs through their policies.
Secondly, it is very convenient to get rid of the GenZ “troublemakers” by shipping them off to other countries.

21:17 for some case is not a "want" but a "need". Truly, if they were confident about feeding their family by staying at home, they would not spent visa application, flight ticket, finding a house and other expense (plus time and stress) to go abroad.
Unfortunety, 1. Roge organization take advantage of it. 2. Countries like Canada or UK (NHS) look for labor to fill the gap.
About the remittance, they do it to help their family with emergencies or support and not the government (unless it was a contract)
When you have your back to the wall, you can go to even to the Pole.

Kenya is officially classified as a developing country. But doesn't that suggest there should be more work opportunities, and therefore more jobs, in Kenya compared to a developed nation? It's hard for me to watch her-she's just echoing what's already out there, without offering any well-considered personal opinions.

Kenya can’t sustainably grow from diaspora remittances. If we grow the local market where we have more jobs locally we create a larger tax base which is more sustainable for Kenyan growth.
People moving abroad is an individualistic solution to a very big Kenyan problem. Lack of employment.

Brain Drain: The emigration of highly trained or qualified people from a particular country.
One Question - How can promoting jobs abroad truly benefit the country if the government isn't creating a platform for businesses to provide local employment opportunities? Because it just looks like a temporary fix that overlooks the need for sustainable job within the Country.
