This regime has created the best environment to educate Kenyans about their responsibility in managing the country and that it doesn't end with the vote. I'm sure not many Kenyans even know that Article 1 clause 1 says "All sovereign power belongs to the people of Kenya and shall be exercised only in accordance with this Constitution." and clause 2 "The people may exercise their sovereign power either DIRECTLY or through democratically elected leaders " Civil education to teach these laws in an approachable way and not using jargon will allow interest to build as it is the heavy and latinized words used by lawyers and their folk which make it seem like a subject that can't be handled by the common mwananchi. Isikuwe about kuonyesha mmesoma tu. And somehow we also decided that the National anthem is just for interviews, sporting and official events??? those words mean something especially in Kiswahili, when we get lost behind political parties it is a reminder of what should be our priority. Lakini watu wangapi wanajua all stanzas? Rooting for your cause.

Omtatah is the top most staid,astute, resolute patriotic and solemnly ingenious activist and politician in Kenya! He is simply clear; trouble-shooting every aspect of Kenya’s socio-economic and political engineering malfunctions . He is a perfectionist par excellence. His ideas are honestly objectionable, executable/implementable and constitutional. The let down is solely on the persons in power; and the general political will of the ruling elite. Kenyans need affirmative, radical and revolutionary change in all these matters.
Omtatah is right our elected leaders are not autonomous when it comes to making laws. They all agree and do everything their party leaders ask them to do. The truth is they never represent the people who elected them.

We need better voter education so that voters can know to make better choices, and we can have more of this type of guy in governance.
okiyah omtatah is right. technology never fails. it is humans that fail. part of system design is designing for redundancy. this is why kplc is experiencing blackouts - they suck at designing for redundancy. every well designed system should have a back up that kicks in whenever an unexpected error occurs. please note: unexpected error. it is feasible to design systems that reduce the risk of failure to near zero. this is extremely important to understand.
this guy is a walking encyclopedia! thanks a lot eric and your team for bringing the senator to enlighten us! they say “ my people die because of lack of knowledge “ and “ knowledge is power “! the citizenry should ensure that without digitalization 2027 elections cannot be held and if held the supreme court should rise to the occasion and declare them null and void! one time i had an american professor of finance teaching us and openly he admitted that sometimes a student might ask a question which he doesn’t have an answer! just like the senator i felt the judgement the supreme court made in 2020 elections was ‘ uninformed and unintelligent and unqualified’! the judges should not be shy to be constantly revising their notes and sometimes seek for technical opinions from the right sources before making decisions! we cannot have monopoly of knowledge even if we are at the supreme courts! at the same time time, is it so difficult for IEBC and the supreme judges to have a sabbatical in this India and brazil if we really want to to solve this election mess? or we are comfortable giving pain killers and bandaging a wound instead of treating once and for all! america and britain and EU please help us!
This man has clarity of thought. Zakayos legal advisors should sit and take notes. They draft bills but never use the constitution as the architecture for their schemes. They'd rather change the constitution than use their minds.

The constitution sets the floor not the ceiling for voting methods. Eric your question reallly demonstrated a very low threshold for what Id call common sense.of course we need and have the capacity for a digital voting system . The problem however like digitization of the land registry like Ndu says is potential for manipulation and in my assessment is the good will of the government.

This talk has clearly assisted in clearly showing the government is a combination of 3 arms, and two parts have been considered for too long , thus having the judiciary working for us humble wananchi has shown also if the remaining arms (Executive and Legislature) worked for us under the constitution we would feel the progress we so much are due.

I wish Ruto can try to be avoiding arbitrary public pronouncements that ends up haunting him, then he tries to retract the same when backslashes happen. Threats, intimidation and bulldozing doesn't work in a democratic sovereign country. If he leaves the three arms of state operate freely, he will finally be the winner. He should avoid issuing ultimatums to the Judiciary that seem to tell Koome that "I promised to support you, but you too MUST always rule my way, if not I will tame you through allocations". Some people may look at it from that angle, unfortunately. Let parliament, Judiciary and Executive work in sync but independently without coercion.

Study of law is overrated. The way Omtata rubbishes our supreme court judges, people who studied law, tells a lot about those judges

Why can't the voters register be digital, then all registered voters vote via an SMS only, if mpesa works, even working can work
This sytem will also help us in passing of some of this laws a bill is put out there and kenyans vote for it in a day whether they agree or not. Power to the pple . If we go fully digital there ere many potential tht we be unlocked. Like a vote of no confidence 2 years in government.

Institution's like ICPAK vote digitally on an annual basis to elect their officials. Results can be tracked online till completion. You could be right senator. Thanks for the dialogue.
If we had a political culture where the power brokers were truly willing to let the popular will decide who gets to hold these offices, we would probably already have a digital elections system.
The devil is in the details. Better to just have paper ballots, counted at the polling station to minimize chances of manipulation of tallies.

the issue is if you cannot fortify digital signatures for intergrity purposes..it can be a very heavily manipulated elections..and the judges will not know it since they are digitally illiterate...for example if you wipe all meta data that should be reason enough to repeat the elections..they cant tell why those digital signatures are important!..digital elections means each party should have alternative image takers and 46000+ images to compare with IEBC..
The same technology that powers bitcoin, block-chain technology could solve all those issues. It would be open source too, to further prevent fraud.
@@upstar21t the problem is not the techology..imagine explaining technology breach to our 7 bench Judges..last time I saw they did not understand that any digital image has a signature....so if u can modify a database entry..which is easy to do if you have admin rights...the intepretation of operational logs becomes integral in knowing whether there was manipulation or not..that is at core database level...if you cannot do this at the core..the only option is to have alternate images in all 46k + polling stations to enable you challenge results effectively..who can afford such a tally..its like having own parallel IEBC..makes presidential running expensive ...
