“The doors of Darkplace were open. Not the literal doors of the building, but evil doors, dark doors, doors to the beyond. Doors hard to shut because they were abstract and didn’t have handles. More like portals, really.” -Dr. Rick Dagless
if you and him want to be buddies again I won't stand in your waaaaaaaaaaaay.
😂😂😂😂😂
I still laugh when I think of the bitter Swedish doctor standing on the roof of the hospital, looking out over the water and ranting, “Sweden - hewn out of rock… Denmark - shat out of chalk”! 😂😂😂
It's true though.
@@Jeff-bd5yo 😂
Lars von trier always has something
......
Never disappoints me
wow… i remember staying up late in the 90s to watch this on SBS. there was nothing else like it on TV at the time. so keen to see it again
저도요
Yeah, a keen reminder of the passage of time. I discovered it at my video rental store under “Denmark”
I caught this on SBS too, it was haunting
Is this still running on Mubi Australia?
I've always held off watching this in hope that a remastered version might turn up someday- glad I waited!
A friend of mine and I watched this entire miniseries in one sitting back in the early 00's. There may have been alcohol, and coffee, a lot of coffee. Was a trippy experience!
This is something to really look forward to. After finishing all of the 3 Twin Peaks seasons I’ve been looking for something just as good. Thx Mubi.
3 seasons and movie. Twin Peaks; Fire walk with me.
@@omegadeicide And the prequel film, yes.
@@murdlokalso a alternative takes movies that’s filled with the unused scenes. It’s amazing once you’ve finished them all. Count that as just part two of the fire walk with me.
I’m hyped for this! I’m still afterglowjng from Melancholia
Every time MUBI says something is now available, I get excited. And every time I go to their site and figure out it's not available after all. When will I learn?
Thank you thank you Mubi ❤
Absolute GENIUS
I watched this a while back and remember liking it a great deal. Even though it's a miniseries, for some reason it is listed in the 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die reference book under the name "Riget." I think this series, as well as some of Stephen Kings work including a short-lived TV series he made, was the influence for Garth Marenghi's Darkplace comedy.
That series, Kingdom Hospital, was an attempt to Anglicise the Von Trier original and a (loose) adaptation of this...
@@MrGarrard It's been a good while, so I do not remember which version I watched. I need to go back and read my notes as I write a brief reaction to each film/TV show/novel I read from various critics' lists. I do remember it being very engrossing and original.
Darkplace is funny but this is another level
Lars Von Trier's true masterpiece
_"Danish scum!"_
Still some of Lars Von Trier's best work.
The pregnancy scene at the end..... scarred me for life!
Was it a pregnancy scene or an abortion scene? It’s literally been since the ‘90s for me but I distinctly remember something like that.
I cannot stop to think about this in light of everything happening in Gaza and Shifa hospital
Exodus was very good, but the restoration of the original will be baffling after only having that DVD version for ages
This is a wild series. I'm watching it for the first time on MUBI.
I cannot wait to rewarch this!
When does it come? Today, the 14th, it‘s still not available in the app.
So.... garth marenghi's dark place?
Like a candle in the wind……unreliable.
This comment is FAR too accurate!
Was thinking the same lol
Except that was made after the Kingdom
The first time I watched it, it was 15 years ago, I found the VHS tape at my dad's and the cover was quite enticing.
I got hooked immediately.
I'm so excited about the new season and I'm rewatching it prior to season three.
I could say I'm a fan😬
"Danskjävlar!!!" 🤣😉
Why it is still not available in France?
Новая глава в истории лучшего режиссера современности!
Будет когда выйдет из клиники
I had to watch this on imported dvd from ebay. So worth it.
really good
Won't play in my area, how do I fix, thank you
Looks like before the Dogme and the nauseous camera shakes.
Except you can’t stream them all through Prime/XBox as ep4 of “Exodus” is unavailable!!!
We can confirm that all episode of THE KINGDOM EXODUS should be available via Prime Video. We have therefore escalated the issue with Prime Video and we hope to resolve this with them as soon as possible.
The new season as well? (**🤤drooling in a way that is suitable for this series**)
It's not on mubi
What came first the chicken or David Lynch??
Looks like the danish version of Goosebumps
Kinda get it, the moods of the hospital of dealing life and death. It is a horrow
The Kingdom😂😂
This needs to be remade by the makers of The Terror
It can't just be me thinking "German Garth Merenghi"....?
Not German
Garth Marenghi's Dark Place
a jewel, one of the most oppressive fiction i never see
COMA-Meets 'Edge'-of-DARKNESS!!!??? >(*U^)< *Wink*
hot import night
Um, I'm good.
Sister! SUBSCRIBE! IMMEDIATELY!
Grottenschlecht! Ein typisch deutscher Film, auf diesem Gebiet können wir so gut wie gar nichts mehr. 😂
It's plain stuff imo
The Stephen King adaptation, Kingdom Hospital, was better.
Eyes of the beholder.
😂
lol no of course it wasn't
@@radicalstanza3614 it's a personal opinion. Eyes of the beholder.
