This moment really speaks to the growth BoJack has experienced. But the ending scene where he is sitting on the roof also tells us that growth isn't an ending: we will still wake up tomorrow, and still have to be who we want to be.

The Honeydew gag is one of the greatest running gag shows of this time period.
My brother also dislikes honeydew and was FLOORED when Bojack said "Huh, not bad"
I think this little moment showed that he finally changed for the better. Old Bojack was stuck in his ways and would never do this. Even when he just got out of rehab and went to his first meeting, he still didn't try it. This is the moment that truly showed that he finally did change for the better.

The way the first one was edited makes it a honeydew punchline without the actual joke, which is a massive shame.
I think just the knowledge that honeydew is his least favorite fruit and that there’s a giant plate with only honeydew is enough to understand the joke
