It's a terrifying insight into what it would be like to be in recovery and suddenly realize all the horrible things you've done. Also a really good reason to stay sober in the first place if you can't moderate yourself, Bojack truly is beyond the point of no return by the end of the series. How can you ever make amends when all the people you screwed over the worst are dead. Eventually you have to stay drunk to numb yourself to it.
I love how the intro foreshadowed the ending of the show, bojack falls into the pool but is revealed to have survived, and it reinforces what Diane says in the final episode “life’s a bitch and then you keep living”

I’m glad it wasn’t, but everything about his life and who he was always seemed to me like it would ultimately all end in suicide, overdose, or some combination of the two, Bojack falling into the pool and waking up relaxing on it was always my interpretation of him narrowly escaping that fate every single episode
when he falls instead of a direct cut to him in the pool, here we see how he gets in the dark first with only his eyes showing before cut to the pool scene, like when he gets grabbed by the dark in ep 15. So here hes not drunk or in a fantasy like previous intros, he finally has accepted the death, the fall, just to cut and show him in the pool alive, because he doesn't die in the pool in ep 15
Okay, but the fact that he falls into the pool in every opening and then ended up basically dying in the pool in the second-to-last episode was so damn clever. That entire episode left me speechless

At 3:48 the TV you'll see a saxophonist and the text "1956-2017." That's a reference to Ralph Carney, the featured saxophonist on the theme (and cousin of Patrick Carney - the musician who produced the theme song)! Unfortunately he died before the show ended, but I'm glad they found a way to honor him and his contributions to one of the best TV themes EVER. The last opening is magnificent. I got chills the first time I saw it, with the universe and Bojack in his dressing room... never would I have expected to put this show in my top 10 ever.

I was very careful watching the openings all episodes, during the series little things change, like when he and wanda broke up she disappered in the Opening, same with Gina, or when Peanutbutter was casted for Philbert the studio scene changed, and in all the seasons the girl next to the tv in the party changed, from 1 to 3 it was Sarah Lynn, in 4th it was Katrina and in 5th it was Pickles, love these little things that made the opening more real
In the episode where the 2 therapists talk about their clients, they all change to the fake character they made up (for an example, Bojack turns into a Zebra)
Actually in the first two seasons there is also a very hard to notice detail on Bojack’s bed where one bed leg is replaced by a stack of books, and then a Golden Globe when it happens in the show.
I noticed that in the beginning of season 6, when Bojack falls into the pool, Mr. Peanut butter doesn’t tilt his head like he usually does. While Diane still does her little head tilt, Mr. Peanut Butter just stares at him blankly. I feel that this was just an editing mistake, lol, as it gets changed back to normal when Diane gets fat.
SAME. I love the entire series, but the openings have so much detail it's so fucking cool. I never skipped a single one, and they definitely hold a special place in my heart. This show is a masterpiece.

I’m honestly impressed with the amount of detail that went into the opening credits. How many times during a season it changes with different characters appearing and disappearing during their arc, stuff like that. Like they didn’t have to do that. But they did.

Some easter egg I’ve noticed In the season 6 intro, specifically the pool part, Mr. Peanut butter makes a completely different expression than the usual ones we mostly see on the intro. He takes a look on Bojack and stares at him blankly, Showing how his guilt of cheating on Pickles started to catch up on to him and this made him slowly be less energetic due to what he has done. After he opens up to pickles and finds a solution to fix their relationship, The intro changes his expression back to his happy energetic self :) just smth I noticed lol
I remember the first time I saw the bojack intro, it was a on a rainy night, I was sitting in my room bored as hell. I had just finished a movie and didn't realize netflix had auto played something. I was scrolling through my phone during the sequence of bojack and the interviewer, thought I was gonna dislike this show, but when those first hits if saxophone played it grabbed my attention. I couldn't look away after that. Thank you for 6 beautiful seasons, horse.

obviously the intro changes to reflect Bojack's life (what movies he's working on, who he is on good terms with, etc.) but what I never noticed (SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3) was Sarah Lynn's disappearance. In the first three seasons, she is always at the house party standing by the tv (season at 1 0:26, season 2 at 1:22, and season 3 at 2:14). But then in season 4, she disappears (3:07). She is a background detail that could be super easy to miss but the animators took the time and effort to put that in which is just another example of how amazing this show is!

I think it's very well written the way they show his heart break with Sarah Lynn's death in every time he's looking at alcohol all he sees is the stary night when they were at the planetarium
season 4 ,5 and 6 hurt. that’s when everything i guess took a sharp turn. in 4 because no one lived with bojack and i missed todd sm. 5 because of gina. and 6 bc it had the most emotion and always gave me goosebumps.

I always knew the pool scene was going to be foreshadowing something. My theory was that pennys father was going to find out what Bojack did, and he would end up going to Bojacks house to kill him during a party. (penny called the cops and thats why theres a chopper in the intro) Then he would end up shooting Bojack, making him fall into the pool, then everyone would check to see if he died. Still pretty cool to see how the foreshadow went.
One thing I appreciate about the intro is that in the episode after something happens it stays, for example Wanda being in the intro through season 2 and leaving, the D leaving the Hollywood sign, the director getting fired from film, Todd’s female Uber business, Hollyhock staying with him in season 4, his mother joining him, and Gina being with him in season 5, even Sarah Lynn not appearing in the intros the episode after she dies, even Diane’s hair being different, even the one episode in season 5 where the therapist calls Bojack a zebra for client confidentiality, where the entire intro is him as a zebra, just the little details I like
3:48 on the TV behind Bojack: that's a tribute to Ralph Carney, the sax player that you can hear playing the main part on the theme, he died in 2017. He was the uncle of Patrick Carney, drummer for the Black Keys and the composer of this serie's theme
The fact in the season 6 intro when he jumps off the balcony he isn’t drunk. He immediately goes to house, jumps off the balcony to the swimming pool. He’s faced his fate. He knows he is a bad person and his guilt is basically the representation of the black void. He knows he’s a bad person but he can’t change.
I find it interesting about all the detail changes the title sequence seems to get , it changes based on what is happening, and you see characters psychically changing as well. I remember seeing that Sarah Lynn disappears from it in season 4 I believe, then her spot was taken by PBS ex wife before pickles was seen beside the TV in the spot . So many interesting little changes honestly
fun little thing that I noticed thats probably unintentional. In every intro apart from 6 and a third of 5 Bojack is never shown to be looking around him with him only diverting his eyes during those 2 intros. For the 5th intro, he only looks around when he's in his detective outfit which forshadows him getting too into character merging the show with his real life. And for intro 6 it could show how Bojack is more self aware of his actions and how to improve with him looking around the past places he's been through, reflecting and looking back at his mistakes as everywhere he appears in intro 6 is an area where he did something that he regrets.

obviously the intro changes to reflect Bojack's life (what movies he's working on, who he is on good terms with, etc.) but what I never noticed (SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3) was Sarah Lynn's disappearance. In the first three seasons, she is always at the house party standing by the tv (season at 1 0:26, season 2 at 1:22, and season 3 at 2:14). But then in season 4, she disappears (3:07). She is a background detail that could be super easy to miss but the animators took the time and effort to put that in which is just another example of how amazing this show is!

season 6’s intro is honestly the best one and i never skipped it when i was watching it
season 4 ,5 and 6 hurt. that’s when everything i guess took a sharp turn. in 4 because no one lived with bojack and i missed todd sm. 5 because of gina. and 6 bc it had the most emotion and always gave me goosebumps.

I always knew the pool scene was going to be foreshadowing something.
My theory was that pennys father was going to find out what Bojack did, and he would end up going to Bojacks house to kill him during a party.
(penny called the cops and thats why theres a chopper in the intro)
Then he would end up shooting Bojack, making him fall into the pool, then everyone would check to see if he died.
Still pretty cool to see how the foreshadow went.

One thing I appreciate about the intro is that in the episode after something happens it stays, for example Wanda being in the intro through season 2 and leaving, the D leaving the Hollywood sign, the director getting fired from film, Todd’s female Uber business, Hollyhock staying with him in season 4, his mother joining him, and Gina being with him in season 5, even Sarah Lynn not appearing in the intros the episode after she dies, even Diane’s hair being different, even the one episode in season 5 where the therapist calls Bojack a zebra for client confidentiality, where the entire intro is him as a zebra, just the little details I like

The fun part of starting a new season of this show is wondering what will be added or removed from the intro.
I just adore the little details in the background and the entire fact they change the intro once there’s a major plot point or season.

3:48 on the TV behind Bojack: that's a tribute to Ralph Carney, the sax player that you can hear playing the main part on the theme, he died in 2017. He was the uncle of Patrick Carney, drummer for the Black Keys and the composer of this serie's theme
the first time i heard the intro i was actually so surprised and amazed at how good it was
I noticed how sad it is when in season 5 Sarah Lynn completely Disappears from the theme because of she dying, it's a small but important easter egg.

The fact in the season 6 intro when he jumps off the balcony he isn’t drunk. He immediately goes to house, jumps off the balcony to the swimming pool. He’s faced his fate. He knows he is a bad person and his guilt is basically the representation of the black void. He knows he’s a bad person but he can’t change.

I find it interesting about all the detail changes the title sequence seems to get , it changes based on what is happening, and you see characters psychically changing as well.
I remember seeing that Sarah Lynn disappears from it in season 4 I believe, then her spot was taken by PBS ex wife before pickles was seen beside the TV in the spot .

fun little thing that I noticed thats probably unintentional. In every intro apart from 6 and a third of 5 Bojack is never shown to be looking around him with him only diverting his eyes during those 2 intros. For the 5th intro, he only looks around when he's in his detective outfit which forshadows him getting too into character merging the show with his real life. And for intro 6 it could show how Bojack is more self aware of his actions and how to improve with him looking around the past places he's been through, reflecting and looking back at his mistakes as everywhere he appears in intro 6 is an area where he did something that he regrets.
I love the fact that I got a Reese’s ad on this video. The only ads I will willingly watch.
