Thanks for making this video, a lot of sound advice and strategy here without all the BS you'd get elsewhere. I started streaming about 6 months ago and literally did all those bad ideas first. Recently, I switched up because I was becoming burnt out but now I feel a lot better; mind you this "switch up" with the improved tips has thrown my community off a bit BUT I'm confident it will be in a much better place for it! Also: That part about the Discord hit me right in the gut, lol.
Yes, RUclips shorts with like some easy hashtags will grown... I started another channel and I already have 5k+ views on my short, so maybe lead your shorts videos to your twitch? Or like u said try to get people to look at your content more through shorts, with some hashtags of course but anyone who sees it and will want to check u can l, I’ve gained 16 subs in the passed 5 days as well, but like he said it also comes down to your content right but good luck man!
I I'm hoping to have my first official live stream this week, I had issues with streaming I had to reinstall obs, thankfully that worked, still got some lag but... can't wait to really get into streaming... I've seen multiple different advice given about streaming, pre insane really...
The first bad advice made me chuckle, I started shaking my head and then gladly heard you said this is bad 🤣 I was like YESSS! I only stream twice a week for at least 2 hours a session cause I work full time and have other priorities. Hopefully I can spend my 40+ Hour Work Week towards Content Creation one day :)
thanks for the advice 😊 in regards to a couple things, since starting streaming on Twitch and trying to become Affiliate I’ve always played a wide range of games that are very story driven, and have been known to let my audience make the decisions in most of those games. my community is based on helping other streamers out as much as possible, which is why when I get my Discord up and running I’ll have an emphasis on helping out every streamer by helping them out because so many streamers I’ve raided and have check their Rules on the stream and their Discord’s have an emphasis on saying if you promote yourself I’ll ban you immediately. I’ve seen a lot of streamers only stream a single game and refuse to play anything but that single game and somehow they get Affiliate within a couple weeks and they constantly trash talk other people in the multiplayer game and never interact with their chat, which makes me wonder just how they got Affiliate so quickly.
Thanks for the good advice. I started my career 8 months ago with your advice and it has been going very well. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
I honestly don't know how you do it, or... let me rephrase it: I don't know why you are among the _very_ few who do it this way but your videos are straightforward, right to the topic, jibber-jabber and redundancy-free and very informative! It is a huge relief when the title is _actually_ what you're talking about. You wouldn't believe how little percentage of content creators follow this path. Hence the 37 minutes long videos about "how to copy paste a file in windows" :D Yours would be 7 seconds long tops. As it should be. Quality content right here!
Thank you for making this I wanna appreciate taking your advice I have been streaming for a entire 2 years of doing streams everyday for 7-12 hours for my fans but I only grew a few but making content and focusing my appreciation on that really boosted me higher and I appreciate you making this best of luck to anyone who is taking this seriously I plan to keep growing BELIEVE IT!
That was pretty insightful dude not even going to lie. I do spend soooo much time just streaming and really sluggish on making content on youtube from twitch stuff. But I'm not a rush of sorts with gaining a audience or anything I really am just trying to get my foot in the door of the streaming world NOW before i retire from my real job in 2 years. All this info was really informative and easy to follow, legit came across it by accident and glad i did
Important, It has to be a girl, so sister, girlfriend, the girl next door or a hooker. You just have to do the production, social media and onlyfans stuff.
Ayo its me at 10:00 Kappa... Seriously this is such a great video because I've slowly been finding that what I post on one platform isnt always good for the others
Love this, been seeing AWFUL tips on TikTok. Really sad to see kids think they need to do "get rich quick" strategies to gain audience, instead of just creating great stuff over a long period of time.
Thank you for today's video. The advice definitely follows my line of thought and a timely reminder to continue what I'm currently doing. Having said that, I'd like to hear about your view on stream raids. I'm sure most people have well meaning intentions, but I'd rather be making quality content for that 1 dedicated follower than for a one-off group audience that is only there for following just four the sake of following.
That first one actually helps so much psychologically. I wanna grind for affiliate but it's so hard to get motivation. But the first one sounds like something I can DEFINITELY do without a hitch.
Yup some have huge charisma or looks and cruise to affiliate in just a few streams. But for the average Joe affiliate takes tons of work and time and not everyone makes it.
As a small and new streamer, this video hit home on so many topics!!! My buddy and I started streaming at the same time, and he streams crazy hours, like 8+ hours per day, and his channel has actually shrunk from a month ago where we were about equal. As for a discord server, I use it not to grow, but as a place to communicate with my viewers, for example, I ask viewers to join anytime they would like to share a link related to a game, as I auto-block any links in my chat. I've also been procrastinating video content creation, and I really should get on that, I've known that I need to do this to help myself grow, and I just haven't started it.
Yet another great video! I like how you spend a duration talking about each segment going into some level of detail and not just glossing over it. You give some specific examples to try and allow the viewer to make a connection with their current practices. Also, you're AE skills are nice af. Nice editing. Nice video. Props all around
Thank you so much for this video! I'm a new streamer (just hit affiliate), and EVERYONE is suggesting I make a discord...I've been hesitant and your advice has sealed it for me. Gonna wait and instead focus on making edits for RUclips!
I agree and disagree with the first point here. Streaming endlessly isn't a solution to growing your channel but also, people do go out of their way to find smaller channels. And Twitch has made that even easier by offering an option to select viewing from "lowest to highest" viewers which is actually cool. As far as creating content, I've still yet to come across a true guide that helps people start from scratch. Every guide I look up assumes you already know the first ten to twenty steps. Love your videos. You're the only person I have ever recommended as having meaningful tips and advice. I've been watching "guides" and "tips" for years that have always been nonsense.
I think your advice is always spot on and appreciate your channel and your podcast. Thanks for all your efforts. Oh, and I agree with @BossManSays, hot tubs are the only real way to grow as a streamer 😂
I just want to say your video on figuring out solid settings for the c920 and Brio helps me tons, and this video has some excellent advice as well. Thank you!
a big tip for servers that often get people who only want to self-promote in the self-promotion channel is to make a role they can be rewarded with that's linked to a certain level that people need to aquire by being social first with the community before they are allowed to post there
Very useful information! Thanks for sharing. Some of these things I learned from observation and videos like these. Still haven’t started streaming or content creation myself but I’ll be sure to keep this in mind.
All of these are accurate. Though I will say the number of times over the years that I've actually browsed new streamers is far more than you think. Either because the streamer I was watching ended without raiding and I want to find other entertainment to keep me busy or just looking for new experiences to broaden your horizons (especially these days when people have been so much more couped up.) Most of the new viewers I'd gotten were mostly just wandering around Twitch and liked my layout, and that's usually how I pick the people I sample in certain subjects as well. I suppose this is where the bad advice of streaming for 8 hours comes from, the theory that "you can't get discovered if you aren't on," because no one watches VODs (unless you're already popular or just have super dedicated fans.)
Great advice ! One thing I'd like your two cents on is the advice ppl keep saying "just keep creating content and you'll make it". Which is not true in my opinion. I don't think everyone can make it even if they try everything. Do you honestly think there is an audience for everyone who keeps trying and learning ?
this is great advice, thank you I have seen all of these bad tips around, I was going to do some research on it, but now I don't need to, so thanks for this video
I have been waiting for this kind of video since forever. Honest and helpful at the same time. Thank you for being genuine and putting out advice that can actually be constructive ❤ Keep it up!
i really like your channel and i tell everyone that is starting in streaming to check you out. the way you explain everything makes it so easy. i just wanted to say you make my life and everyone that i send to you lifes easier. thanks.
Man you've become such a great content creator. It's been a few years since I've watched one of your vids. I can really see all your hard work has really paid off. Keep it up Pete 👍
Since I gotta work 30+ hours a week I do try to spend all my free time for streaming some days I can only stream 4/5 hours some days im off and ill stream for like 12 hours. I usually average at 5 to 10 viewers however my offline VODs get viewed quite often because some people couldnt catch me online which is nice. I also upload all great wins/clips to my RUclips for a more edited experience. So far been like streaming for over 1 small year now sitting at 450 followers/16 subs. Could be better ofcourse but im also really happy that I already created a small community out of nothing feels really great.
My man with the awesome advice per usual! I am just a Twitch Affiliate, but my biggest piece of advice is do whatever you have fun doing (as long as it's legal haha). Then adjust that content to the medium you're publishing on.
I've seen a lot of people talking about "networking" by joining discord servers that have self-promo channels and link spamming their live stream whenever they go live, without actually participating in that streamer's discord or overall community. Genuinely participating and interacting with like-minded people in other communities is the best way to build actual relationships that may lead to mutual growth.
I just started and excited about it I do art and I make and record speed paints and tutorial stuff while streamimg Great confirmation when you gave the example of ludwig
Especially the discord server advice I think Is great especially for just maller streamers. I never do like self promotion in other streams until like Streamer friends mention I'm streming too or tell their viewer base to give me a follow if they are interested the kind of content I'm producing though I'm also metioning them in my streams =)... Though I'm, usuallay mainly actively playing games with them in their streams when I dfon't stream, we have a built a small community and support each other... we just neeed to manage our time plans better; that's what I want to use discord for. I have just one question; should I put in the Tag educationla since I am Translating games from English into German and the other way round? I also get asked sometimes by viewers to stick to one language /Game because of the trasnlation and language skills they get if the want to learn... do you think I should keep that up? (I never get in which language my stream is set to)
I mostly agree with this but also hate creating non-live content. It seems annoying to be passionate about Twitch and have to dedicate the majority of time away from what I’m passionate about or have to change my mindset to include YT or TT as part of that passion.
Per trends and Just Chatting I actually hate that this advice is relevant because - by the numbers - I know that eventually this will not consistently be good advice. It will eventually not work for platforms for Twitch because the audiences that this advice works for are personality types which will eventually tire of ANY trend.
The first one is the one I am struggling the most. I like to play games and interact with the chat. There is no direct interaction with viewers on RUclips. Most of my streams are me gaming, having a chat with my fellow players and viewers. Then something funny and hilarious happens, maybe partly triggered by chat. I've tried to move this on RUclips Videos, but it felt like the actual fun from that LIVE moment is not capturable in a more persistent video. Of course, I could start doing some sort of "educational" stuff like guides, tutorials or something like that, but I don't feel that this type of content could be mine and that I could identify with.
idk but i’ve found hosting/raiding and watching other streamers that are close to you in views/followers and getting to know them and even playing together helped me. I got like 1k followers last year just streaming part time apex, MH and genshin because of covid. a lot of them came from watching me on other peoples streams by collaboration and just befriending people. Though i haven’t streamed in a month because of the move and getting covid
Thanks for this great video! Im kinda late to it but whatever xD I actively started streaming like 5 days ago with the mindset to grow and started creating content for tiktok and youtube. I also just started editing the first time with Premiere Pro and it was very hard to figure out how to do things but once you learn the basics it is actually fun to edit your content and laugh about it xD I'm already on over 25k views on TikTok with just uploading 8 videos of small edited streamhighlights and honestly it feels good to see people appreciate the work you put in! Sadly almost noone from TikTok actually came over to my stream but I will keep going to create content and stream because it is fun and I see the progress. I couldn't take much out of this video for myself but that shows im on the right path I guess!
13:22 i think this is a great point of advice, when i stream i have the unfortunate luck of having bad internet so it's next to impossible to get good quality, but i have managed to get good quality even with bad internet (650kbps)
I'd say this is situational but if you have a friend that's willing to edit for you is a major plus. I edit for two of my friends and helps to share the work load. -They get to focus on their streams and improve quality and take rests when needed -I get a bunch of content to work with to develop my skills at editing So having a nice support group really helps
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips throughout your channel. It's a lot to absorb for me being somewhat a newb. Thank you. I was wondering, do you think it would be a good idea to start a new Twitch for streaming/restreaming with a new name after being an observer for years? I wanted to stream and tried but had to stop due to living circumstances. I wonder if I should just toss my name and account altogether for a new attempt.
I have decided to watch some "TOP TIPS FOR STREAMERS" videos today, it's a really nice coincidence that you decided to publish this video right now, thank you
I mostly agree with the comments. But not the discord one, having own discord is good for networking. Ofc being in a big one is better But harder to keep up with. Thanks to having my own discord it let me grow to affiliate
Real question about what you say in 12:18. How is possible to have a just chatting portion between two games ! I’d love to do just chatting but with no audience at the beginning it is or feels awkward.
The just one game thing hit home, i am a very new streamer and was told to stick to one game. COD. I was getting to the point where my streams were just miserable and rage filled, no fun at all. Finally switched it up "rebranded" and have been in love with streaming and gaming all over again!
This is all good, but what happens when you grow out of playing computer games and want to start talking about movies or comics… this happened to me about 5 years ago, I lost all interest in playing games, still enjoy watching them, but am really just interested in movie channels now.
TikTok Twitch advice is all round pretty bad, and 95% of the time rehashed content. In fact, I'm convinced that TikTok goes in cycles where people dredge up content, remake it, and then forget about it every 3 months.
7:42 - put all your eggs in one basket. Nothing will happen with them. You can't get accidentally banned and your channel can't be removed without any explanation. I lost ALL my audience 3 times because of that bs. Screw this. I will never focus on one platform anymore.
You should use DaVinci Resolve. It's the most powerful, free editor. It can do all you need it to do, and is easier to learn than premiere. It is currently one of the most popular editors, free or otherwise.
How about building a discord but you've been streaming for 4 years or so? feels like I can't seem to get anyone to participate and I've been a few medium size ones for years.
For Twitch growth you do really need to stream for longer to have time to gather benefits from things like raids which are great networking there. At least 3 hours.. don't even bother with 1 hour streams. By the time people know you're there, you're already gone. Discord .. yea don't make one unless you want to put time into it. Its another social media platform and takes input to keep it alive. I have a few, and it takes at least weekly input to keep them from fading away until you build them to a critical mass of several thousands.
On the topic of burning out, I started streaming last year and streamed mostly Fortnite. I almost quit last month because I got bored of it, but have come back with Minecraft. I am gonna do one game for a few weeks, then move on to another game.
Ty ty so much for an advice that actually makes sense. And for irl the same advice works? I havent been streaming for that long, i have few followers and dont have a good Computer, or a câmera cause Im saving up. Being discovered is hard nowadays.
Never pay a company for advice. There are loads out there on twitter and some offer really attractive perks but no one has actually come out and said they are worth while
Here is my advice: Get PC (around $800, good CPU, RAM and GPU), 1080p webcam around $90 and Mic around $100 and you are good to go. Just set everything up, start streaming and enjoy the ride. You do not need to start "FANCY" from the start. After you get successful (for me it will be around 500 - 1k viewers), then you start modifying your stream. Also: BE YOU! Do not invent personalities. Put yourself on camera (or not), interact with viewers (most important part), everything else comes naturaly. One more thing: DO NOT DO IT ONLY FOR $! You will never get anywhere. $ comes later.
This is really good and helpful advice! Thanks so much for this, made me feel that im going to the right path :) always a helpful content you produce ! Keep it up bro!!
Another great video I've been subscribed to your you tube for a long time. I have been streaming for a long time too first of it was music and djing then gaming more recently. I've took a few valued tips from this video so again thanks
I kinda have a two part question first how would someone go about making good content (I know this is kinda dumb) mainly just unsure due to having so many videos on here is it not a bad worry that some people can see the content as an imitation of someone else? Also, ontop of that then what would be the best way of asking your community on if the content is good and how to go about fixing it/improving it if you aren't sure.
What bad streaming advice have you seen floating around?

Popping in the comments to say thanks - this is super helpful and I’m excited to get some good work done outside streaming. Cheers!
All this info was really informative and easy to follow, legit came across it by accident and glad i did
If hot tub isn't your first way to grow your stream I don't want to hear anything else you have to say. 😂
Important, It has to be a girl, so sister, girlfriend, the girl next door or a hooker. You just have to do the production, social media and onlyfans stuff.
What if I just sit in an empty tub and cry?
@@finickyfoxx Now that's just reality.
Damn you, though I had a Discord notification on my server then LOL 6:28
The discord skit turned me into a meerkat ffs haha!
Yo literally and I'm not even online right now lmao
This video is a GOLDMINE, thanks so much!
I think your advice is always spot on and appreciate your channel and your podcast. Thanks for all your efforts. Oh, and I agree with @BossManSays, hot tubs are the only real way to grow as a streamer 😂
Good video dude. Cemented some thoughts I was already having with regards to streaming. Thank you.
Great stuff! Always learning some new things from places like this one & the good ppl at Alpha Gaming’s channel. Very encouraging 💯🙏🏼
You have solid advice and great guidance. Thumbed and subbed!
I suppose this is where the bad advice of streaming for 8 hours comes from, the theory that "you can't get discovered if you aren't on," because no one watches VODs (unless you're already popular or just have super dedicated fans.)
actually so glad I found this channel so helpful thank you so much fixed my mic and webcam as well as plugins doing gods work man thank you
Great advice !
Solid advice chief. Just found you through a video from back in 2017. Appreciate the content already. Just getting started in this stuff
i really like your channel and i tell everyone that is starting in streaming to check you out. the way you explain everything makes it so easy. i just wanted to say you make my life and everyone that i send to you lifes easier.
That melon conversation looked pretty chaotic as they were all talking😅
My man with the awesome advice per usual! I am just a Twitch Affiliate, but my biggest piece of advice is do whatever you have fun doing (as long as it's legal haha). Then adjust that content to the medium you're publishing on.
this is SUCH a wonderful video. this has definitely changed how i feel about streaming, and it came at the perfect time. keep up the great work!
Love your content man! Really helped me shape my channel and stream. Excellent stuff!
Thanks so much for this video! Your content is definitely GOATED! 😁
I just started and excited about it
I do art and I make and record speed paints and tutorial stuff while streamimg
Great confirmation when you gave the example of ludwig
(I never get in which language my stream is set to)
I really appreciate this solid advice! Folowed on twitch, subbed here, and joined ur discord server
As a new content creator/streamer, I really appreciate your advice here. Thanks! :)
Any tips for people without proper equipment, streaming from a console built in obs, no GOXLR, those kind of things?
13:22 i think this is a great point of advice, when i stream i have the unfortunate luck of having bad internet so it's next to impossible to get good quality,
but i have managed to get good quality even with bad internet (650kbps)
I'd say this is situational but if you have a friend that's willing to edit for you is a major plus. I edit for two of my friends and helps to share the work load.
-They get to focus on their streams and improve quality and take rests when needed
-I get a bunch of content to work with to develop my skills at editing
So having a nice support group really helps
I have the same type of glasses as you. Just in the color black. Watched for 8min before noticing haha thanks for the tips! :D
Where did you get your glasses from mate?
Real question about what you say in 12:18. How is possible to have a just chatting portion between two games ! I’d love to do just chatting but with no audience at the beginning it is or feels awkward.
i found this video very informative bro. i like the advice u gave & ima definitely take it into consideration. definitely subbed
That RGB thing on your left shoulder side had my attention all the while. ha ha.
Ikr? So pleasing watching it... Satisfaction all time
@@theonlyxp big fan of rgb myself.
The just one game thing hit home, i am a very new streamer and was told to stick to one game. COD. I was getting to the point where my streams were just miserable and rage filled, no fun at all. Finally switched it up "rebranded" and have been in love with streaming and gaming all over again!
You quit streaming now?

Awesome video. Thank you so much! I am a new streamer and I felt very pressured to be live as much as possible before watching this stream.
This is all good, but what happens when you grow out of playing computer games and want to start talking about movies or comics… this happened to me about 5 years ago, I lost all interest in playing games, still enjoy watching them, but am really just interested in movie channels now.
Thank you for addressing these!!
Avoiding the puddle is a prime example of #5. Averages 4000 plus people on a super basic settup
How do you record your stream while you stream?
Very Good Advice ! Nice Video ! Was actually thinking about the same things
I love your advice, it helps just need to focus on content on youtube.
TikTok Twitch advice is all round pretty bad, and 95% of the time rehashed content. In fact, I'm convinced that TikTok goes in cycles where people dredge up content, remake it, and then forget about it every 3 months.
Agree but the last point especially. People will watch you for you. Just have fun team =) x
Thanks for making this video. I definitely feel less intimidated and overwhelmed in terms of what to do.
7:42 - put all your eggs in one basket. Nothing will happen with them. You can't get accidentally banned and your channel can't be removed without any explanation. I lost ALL my audience 3 times because of that bs. Screw this. I will never focus on one platform anymore.
As a complete novice at creating a video from recorded footage and editing etc were can I start?what software should I use to video edit?
You should use DaVinci Resolve. It's the most powerful, free editor. It can do all you need it to do, and is easier to learn than premiere. It is currently one of the most popular editors, free or otherwise.
6:30 loved that edit
Lol 2 of the most saturated games around..oof good luck!
Combined is great, videos get views, and streams are great for cranking up your watch time.
Ty ty so much for an advice that actually makes sense. And for irl the same advice works? I havent been streaming for that long, i have few followers and dont have a good Computer, or a câmera cause Im saving up. Being discovered is hard nowadays.
I have a question: If you cannot stream 1080p should you not bother streaming at all?.
936p then.
Probably the best advise is to connect with other people in community, similar interests. Actually that's why top streamers often collaborate ;)
