Sorry about the spelling mistakes. I have a bad habit of never feeling like the video is perfect, so I keep adding things to the video right up until upload. Should have taken the extra time to check again. My bad! 😅
Taking a non e bike up that 15th street hill TO LUNCH is diabolical. Also, there hasn't been food trucks downtown since COVID ended and half the workforce stayed home. There's a pretty good food hall at 18th & K. Lots of different options.
Haha, it wasn't easy. Yeah, we learned about the food trucks. Didn't know about the food hall, though. Thanks for that. We'll have to check it out next time.
Loved this. I have only been to DC once when I was very young and only remember seeing the White House. That museum is amazing. I would love to go and spend hours there. I really enjoy both of you and your travels.
Looks like it was a great day in DC! Adding that museum to our list for next time (slowly been working our way through the Smithsonian every time we go visit family). Love that you ended the day with s'mores too, and we agree - burnt is best! Safe travels, friends! Looking forward to the UK adventures 🙂
The burnt marshmallow is the best part, haha! But yeah, the Smithsonians are great because they are ginormous and interactive. We don't usually like museums, but they make these fun. It also doesn't hurt being free lol
@@TheDetourDuoI am so excited for you. Enjoy enjoy enjoy❤❤❤❤❤ My cousin promises me, you will love every minute ❤❤❤❤❤ Make memories that last a lifetime my friends❤🎉
I haven’t been to DC since moving.. obviously i need to take a trip!! Now that ad took me out 🤣🤣 Tony and i made the same face before the camera even turned around lol
Not only do you guys 'go with the flow', but if things get really screwed up ( bike charges, no food trucks ) you calmly deal with it and keep on going! You were right about touring in the fall & ( after cking weather reports ) warmish days in the winter. You also don't sugarcoat things . . . Rather hear a 'so-so' review, than try it and be disappointed . . . S'mores are SO cool. . . Kids would LOVE that after being ( possibly ) overwhelmed by the museums. Messy but worth it! Knowing the museums are free, you can plan ahead as to what you are really interested in seeing & make your visit less stressful. Okay, on to another of your videos!
We appreciate the kind words! We really try to stay true to ourselves. Honestly, it doesn't go over smoothly with everyone. We feel like being honest is best, but sometimes people don't like hearing that a place they love isn't perfect. But what keeps us trying to maintain our authenticity are comments like this, so thank you! Truly.
Looks like a great travel destination! I've never been to DC but I'm glad you spared us the parts that I've seen too often on TV 😅. And it's refreshing to see a travel vlog that actually includes a museum visit! And if I ever do visit DC, I'd love to have s'mores! I've never had them (can you tell I'm not American? 😅). Side note: pity about the typos in the notes on screen! I hope you weren't exhausted during editing? And would it help to type these thitinto a spell-checked document before copying them into your video editor?
I really appreciate your feedback! It's great to hear that you enjoyed the museum aspect of the vlog. I’ll definitely keep your suggestion about spell-checking in mind for future videos! It's the burden of never feeling like the video is perfect. I felt that some moments needed text to help tell the story at the last minute before uploading. Bad habit.
It's right on the DC wharf. It's to the left of the anthem. You'll see a large circle of chairs and a fire pit in the middle. That's where you'll want to be. They don't lit the pit until close to sunset
My lady and I are going to the African American Museum on Dec 7th for the second time. We never finished the Museum so we'll finish it this time. Love going to D.C
The museums in DC are huge. It's hard to finish them without dedicating a full day to it, so I completely understand. The African American museum is a good one to repeat and get lost in for a day.
I went a few years ago to the African American museum when it first opened (I live in Arlington VA), and did the opposite -- started at the ground floor and made my way up. Missed the upper two floors, but maybe someday
You should check them out when you have the chance. The upper floors were the best part for us. We need to go back and spend more time in the middle sections.
@@TheDetourDuo I remember the first floor in the basement was super depressing OMG. Yeah I'll try and make it there soon! Maybe over Christmas vacation when I have some time off work :)

Love everything D.C. has to offer, been to several times as I have family in Bethesda!
It's nice because there are quite a few free things that people don't even realize are free
@@TheDetourDuo I think the issue is that most think tourism means shelling buckets when most places have cheap options.
So true. One of the main myths we want to debunk with our videos

Enjoy your UK adventures!
Thanks! We were thinking tbe same thing about the grilled cheese. UK adventures are going to be great!
Awesome, informative, and so beautifully shot! Love you guys
Thank you!!!
Thanks for making the video--wish I felt like thinking about D.C. A little too close to last week... : / I'll be back.
We hear ya 💙 This was filmed a few weeks ago. Catch the next video instead, we will be going international again!
Thanks for another great Video! 🫶

$100 per day in most cities is tough. It is nice that many of the activities are free, though. Way to stick to the budget!
Yeah, we definitely squeezed everything we could into the budget, especially with the food prices!
A S’more’s place, including fire pit? Genius!! What a great affordable treat!
Right! Nice little piece of nostalgia if you can't make your own campfire
Love the budget content!
🙌
Loved the video. I would also like to know where the s’mores place located?

The food trucks disappeared during covid and never really returned. Now they're parked in the suburbs and doing company events.
Ah. Yeah, I read that they left after COVID. Didn't know they moved to the suburbs. Thanks for this info
tony, where did you get your sweater lol. i want it
lol I think I got it off of Amazon awhile back. A brand called COOFANDY. I have a few. I don't know if they still have this same cool scheme though
I just love DC!
Same!!!
$100 bucks didn’t get me far in DC. It’s a beautiful city to visit as a tourist.
The food makes it tough to stretch out
Did the s'mores taste like lighter fluid? He REALLY doused those logs.
Lol, he did! Tasted fine though
:28 Whoever made this, needs to help my thumbnails
