Just came back and watched again after trying my first RdB fig this week and it was delish! I think I'm going to go ahead and plant it in ground next year.
Would you consider ever doing a tour of your in ground fig trees? I’m in Oregon and planning on starting my own fig forest of about 18 trees. I already have desert king, excel, florea, rdb and vdb but need more ideas of what will ripen reliably here.
Great Video! That breba looked so tasty,🤤 definitely need to get a Ronde De Bordeaux. So happy they can be grown here! Do you know where best place to buy one?
Looks really good. Nice thin skin. I'm hoping to get my first ripe fruits in the next month or so. I'm debating putting mine in the ground or not. I'll either put the takoma violet or RDB in ground. I think I've heard RDB grows pretty well in containers though. Which would you put in ground between those two?
@@benbseattle Hah that doesn't help. If you could have one in ground and one in container what would you do? Or are they so similar that it doesn't make a difference?
Nice. A little question regarding over wintering my figs in containers in the basement. How much cold temperatures do the figs need for winter. 20 to 40 degrees?? ( black Madeira) thanks.
Great work - just came across your content (blog / youtube). Curious if you could provide help / advice in identifying a couple of fig trees we inherited when we bought our house in Olympia. Thanks for your time.
Breba Fig is not the Ron De Bordeux. Breba Fig is the Black Madeira. In Madeira Island people call Black Madeira with the name BREBA (BREBA is the portuguese name for Black Madeira).
With this cool summer this year in our region, do you see your main crops being affected by it? I have many green figs on my trees (mostly first and second year old), not sure if they will ripe in time.
Most of figs get 2 crops, breba and mains. A breba fig is a fig that grow on last year's wood and will arrive and ripen first in early to mid summer. The main crop is produced on the same year's growth and are often better in taste and are ripe in late summer to autumn.

I am glad you did this vid! I now know what will be #1 on my list for early figs to try in my area.
Oh I'm so jazzed it does well here in the PNW, even in half shade. Excellent video, I love your scoring!

@@asterixbruggemann4486 Thanks for explanation
Yum 😋
You don’t pronounce the “e” in ronde, just “rond” 👍🏼
Breba fig
Do not pronounce the e.
