The Focus RS was a prime example of why dealerships need to be abolished. Dealerships are 100% responsible for the failure of that car in America because they wouldn’t let people test drive it and they did massive markups before they were cool. The RS was a sick hatch in its own right but it’s target audience couldn’t afford to throw down the ridiculously high 65-70k price points of the dealer markups for what was really a glorified ST with all wheel drive. I always loved the look of those cars but knowing the price point kept them completely off my radar
I’ve been saying that for years. I tried hard to get one and couldn’t. A large dealer in my area had 3 2018s they were asking $20k over and wouldn’t budge. Still had them in 2020 asking the same. That pushed me away from any Ford product ever.

I had a 2012 non-RS version of the Focus for about 3 years, and the transmission was so damn bad (we got out of via a lemon law). But I tried to push my wife at the time to the RS, she wasn't having it because of the the transmission issue with ours. I would've loved to have the badass equivalent to said vehicle. It was a sick little hatch that was amazing.
@@TheMILVSCR yeah those DCTs were hot garbage, focuses of any trim level with a manual are actually quite reliable but the automatics unfortunately gave the cars a bad reputation
honda dealerships alone are the cause for honda sales because of the same bad customer service but the markups dont help
I have always wanted ANY year Mitsubishi Lancer EVO after seeing the movie "2 Fast 2 Furious" but the Mitsubishi dealers ONLY had the "Lancer" cars at that time. Sad lost to see this all-wheel drive beast die off.

I've owned two Evos 8 last one was a MR crashed the first one on a wet bridge and rolled the other into a ditch after attempting to avoid a running deer trying to commit suicide on the highway.
I miss my evos they are great cars I had to buy a WRX because I couldn't find another Evo in my area fun car but not as good as the Evos.
A buddy of mine had a Lancer Evo X GSR, I was sad for him and surprised when he got rid of it. Such a badass car.
Fun fact, the chevette is one of the most famous and cheapest drift cars here in Brazil, people swap engines, put turbos and even compete in championships in them, it is very loved by Brazilians since you can get it for 2 thousand reais and the next cheapest rwd drift fitting car is the e36 for more than 30 thousand reais, so it is kind of a legend around here lol
The 5th gen Honda Prelude is the only gen I've gotten to drive but even with a busted rear passenger side suspension, it was still THE BEST HANDLING CAR I'VE EVER DRIVEN! It has pretty much the same suspension as the original NSX but FWD and with a back seat.
Pardon my ignorance, but what was the difference between a Honda Prelude and a 2 door Honda Accord? I think they were too similar to coexist. From a manufacturer standpoint, do you get my point.
@@crw3673 the first gen prelude was pretty much no different, but as the gens went on, they kept upgrading the suspensions and the engines. Most people didn't see a difference though and bought the cheaper options ie civics and accords.

The best sounding award goes to the LFA. It ends there. When it comes to Japan's best the popular answers include the NSX, the R34 GTR. Even the s200 gets more love than the LFA. Few people were willing to fork over all that cash to end up struggling against R35 GTR
We had an Xb. Cheap? Yes. Horrible aerodynamics? Yes. Noisy at speed? Yes. But it was freaking bulletproof. Aside from poorly designed brakes and the classic rust-out Toyota exhaust, it ran like a watch and was super practical. Surprisingly great in the snow.
If Pontiac made a modern Trans Am out of a modern Camaro like they always did in past, it would have had helped Pontiac sales and saved the brand

I had a 2.0S (Carb) and a 2.0Si Prelude, both 1989 models. Miss those cars so much, was like driving a 5 speed go-kart.

I own a pontiac 87 fiero gt and my wife owns a pt cruiser. Take care of your car and it will last a long time. My fiero is garage kept.
The 2006 Evo IX is the Bruce Lee of sports cars, its awesome in many ways.
Love the Z8 but I don't think we (Britain) made too many large capacity V8 2 seat roadsters tbh. Smaller, lighter, lower powered was thr British formula for most cases. I wouldn't put cars like the DB5 or E-Type in the general "British Roadster" category tbh. Lotus, MG, etc are what springs more to mind.
No mention of the Toyota Celica, Honda CR-X or Nissan Stagea?

I’ve had a 2012 evo x and still have 04 evo 8. Also been slowly chipping away at restoring an evo pajero for the last almost 2 years. I will always have an evo in the garage

Mazdaspeed 3. I waited and waited and waited for its resurrection (after owning a Gen 1 for 7.5 years) and it never came (after a number of teasers) so I finally gave up and bought a Golf R which turned out to be a vastly superior hot hatch albeit more costly.
A few years back I owned a 1985 Pontiac Fiero,and it NEVER gave me a problem. The car was comfortable…fun to drive…and believe it or not…went through snow like a hot knife through butter! (If the snow wasn’t TOO deep) I kinda wish I still had it…but now I finally own a BEAUTIFUL 1977 Black and Gold Trans-Am…so I’m not going to complain. 😉
You guys mentioned the El Camino SS like it was the original. The Ford ranchero was the original, and they had the ranchero with the Cobra jet engine in it. Whoops the snot out of the SS

@@chriscarlisle1974 ugly you're subjective. I thought the rancheros looked better than the El caminos. Except for the last generation of rancheros. As for died off sooner, they both lasted about 23 years.
Ranchero died in 1979....ElCamino in 1987. True, the El was made for 25 years vs 22 for the Ranchero, but it died off way sooner.
@@chriscarlisle1974 it also started way sooner. And the EC was 64-87, only 23 years. 57-79 for the ranchero. And the 70-71 ranchero CobraJets were some of the sexiest utes

The Chevrolet Chevette 1.4 liter engine was rated at 52 hp, not 23. It would be absurd for a modern car to have Ford Model T horsepower.

I was lucky enough to get 1 of the 3000 Focus RS's brought to America. I did get to test drive it and WoW was it a fun test drive. Mine is Nitrous Blue and the Special Edition Model. It was my daily driver and now is a 2nd driver. It still make the hair on my neck stand when you hit the boost and to this day has NEVER spun the wheels on pavement. I paid $50K for mine so the markup wasn't to steep. But, bang for the buck, is very good. Traction alone is awesome and it's nice to have a Hellcat owner in a panic when you leave him at the line. However, the V8 will run me down at about 200 ft. I always tell them " It's not your moms Focus"
Number 6 doesn't make sense since the Huracan is still in production
lambo has announced this is the final run of the huracan and its replacement will be launched in 2023 or 2024.

Back in the nineties, I test drove a Fiero. As I was driving, my friend yelled "it's on fire!" I looked in the rear view mirror and watched in horror as flames came up out of the engine bay. I pulled in front of someone's house, grabbed a hose, and put it out. I did not buy the car......
To be honest, I always liked the PT cruiser looks and design. Rubbish in many ways, but it does not look that bad.
I had one as my first car, very unusual in the UK to have a 2.0 vehicle as a first car so I liked it, was a good size for passengers, don't really know how big the boot was, seemed okay but my boot release broke off so I could only access it by pulling down my back seat.
I was really expecting to see AMC and eagle lineup as well. Definitely need to revisit and add some of the most iconic auto makers

As a Toyota enthusiast, I loved the Scion Xb. Out of all the boxy looking cars that were made, it’s definitely my favorite.

5:07 I was 18 years old when I got my Scion xB and I loved that thing! We still have it to this day and it runs great! Little secret is that the xB if done right are burnout machines for a FWD car 👀

They also had build quality issues, plastic everything. My homies pops had one it we made fun if it mercilessly, the transmission blew up on around 90,000 miles.

Plymouth Prowlers for the most part increased in value. Go try to find one in new condition for less than $40,000 dollars.
Dealerships were selling them for twice their MSRP due to their low numbers. One here in Mt sold for $90,000 at the dodge dealership.
Vr6 corrado in America and yes I know they’re still sold over the pond.
To me VR6 Corrado was the closest thing to a Porsche without paying the Porsche price

Prowler, Prelude, MR2, Fiero, FJ, Baja, Silvia, Trans Am, Magnum, S2000, LFA are the only ones that deserve to still live.
The early Eagle Talon Tsi AWD. I have one and it’s a beast.
The Veloster N's failure had little to do with the door configuration. The problem is that Hyundai stealerships (who are notoriously scumbags) were charging ~$17,000 over MSRP. It got to be such a problem that Hyundai decided it was no longer worth making the car.
FJ cruiser is still being made and sold in south Africa
i miss my baja turbo..... the motor finally died at 263k tried to source a STI powertrain, gave up and tired to just find a good WRX turbo set up couldnt find one worth swapping in smae with the oem drivetrain so i sold the roller for 2k more then i paid for it...dude said he was gunna rebuild it..... wish i woulda just kept it

I knew a guy who put a 350 in a chevette. He literally ripped it in half right in front of the school showing off doing burnouts. It was a rusted hunk of shit. Dude went one way and his rear end went another and hit a parked car.

In the early 90's guy I was neighbors with bought an 1984 Fiero even thou told by many to avoid. A year later it caught fire while parked over night. He swore up and down that someone did it. Yep GM engineering.
I had a 1983 Chevy Chevvette in the early to mid 2000s. 4 speed manual.....man did i get sooo much crap/stares for driving that car. Lmao i miss it
AWD Hot Hatch EVO, if kept close chassis wise, would sell like crazy today. Even if it had a mediocre transmission or something. Itd probably be a Nissan and called a Kancer Shmeevo or something now.

Just picked up a 09 evo MR with 44k km on it. Got it for under 40k Canadian. Its my second one after I totalled my first one. Bought a bmw and that shit just keeps breaking down lol had to switch back.

When l was in high school from 72 to 75 there were at least six Corvairs. My buddy had a 2dr 64 Monza with a 4 speed that l drove quite a bit and it was great. Not fast but not slow it was enough and the only thing l noticed that was dangerous was it would oversteer but he had 14x7" rally wheels with radials it wasn't much of an issue. Sounded like a 911 too

Unpopular opinion: I actually don't think that the Aztek's styling was THAT terrible, and the tail end was kind of interesting, with that CR-X-like window built into the rear hatch. As an artist, I would have done the front end differently, though.
At least we can all agree that the Nissan Juke was ugly (at least before the mid-life facelift), right?
