I really need to make a decision on a 50cc scooter. My budget is sub $2000. Used for a 4 mile round trip to and from work. No main roads.
that a choice you will have to make i cart really help you decide
Well worth the money. Get the sportbike model. Add the big block kit and an aftermarket muffler and carb. Youll have the time of ur life
Honda "Navi" carburettor scooters made in India at $1,700 could be a good alternative!
You can get an used Keeway for around 500 Euros (sorry, I don't use GBP)
Or even a good, fast and reliable scooter from the 90s or 2000s, they're very popular here in Italy in the 14 year olds' community and even older people, you can find very powerful and good looking ones for 600 Euros, or max 1k for even better options! You can search the same models as I'm sure you will find some in the UK.
For old men who are allowed to drive an Am "moped" on a car lisence: there's a lot to be said for a 50cc. Great fun and practical for short distances
Indeed, i passed my car licence just in time. i have granfathers wrights at 38 lol
short distances? such as 100 km? or can you get 200 km on a 4 stroke?
@@SimplicityForGood gibberish
@framestomind7548 The thing that is stopping you isn't the range it is the time it takes to get there

Hi Chris
over here in holland as a 16 year old 50cc mopeds and scooters are the only options ( well theres also microcars and tractors available at that age but both are extremely expensive) you have. that being said my 50 cc tomos (slovanian brand) is very enjoyable to ride. I equipped it with an expansion exhaust ( it is an 2 stroke) which makes it nicely quick. I also think that our infrastructure is better suited for mopeds than in great britain ( yellow plate mopeds/scooters go on the carriage way except when there is a special road sign which means you got to go on the bycycle lane). it is also a bit of culture here to tune your mopeds/ scooters especially with 2 strokes. However if you get caught by police ( on a roller bench check placed on a parking lot you have to follow a police motor cycle to the check point) if the vehicle is capable of going 10 km/h faster than the liscense plate restricts they will suspend your liscense plate.
i have ridden a 4 stroke tomas and the de-restriction culture is the same here i haven't seen any of the micro cars in the UK but i know they are available again probably to expensive thanks for watching and welcome to the channel
really ? i did not know that tomos made 4 strokes i thought they only made the 2 stroke engines well that is good to know thanks and have a wonderful day. @@Ridingreviews
It’s a wiz once derestricted and sound like a 125 with the right exhaust mine consistently get to 40mph and even 46mph on a flat. Talking about the 2022 Yamasaki ym50-RE
Kool, im building a 72 cc carb ym50 at the min. we shall see how that goes
@@Ridingreviews very cool I just brought a big bore kit but my starter motor just failed :(
@@Ridingreviewshey pls HELP when you put on 72cc do you need 72cc cylinder head, the piston goes very high
Hi Chris,
Great and informative video, everything the new riders need to know. Nice and clear advice.
Great to see you are branching out and now doing more information videos.
You will get there mate 👍, it's not easy running a business, add your you tube channel and the time it takes up makes it a difficult balancing act.
Your going the right way mate.
I hope so i will get there thanks for watching
Hi Chris, I'm 20 years old (21 in a month or two) and a university student. Have a full uk drivers license for over a year and not got a car. Wanted to grab a little 50cc as a run-around to help with student costs haha. Found quotes looking at around £300 a year on insurance which is fantastic. If I was to complete my CBT should I still go for a 50cc or should I just grab a 125 instead. In a bit of a pickle because of it haha.
no don't get a 50cc all the costs will be almost the same for a 50 and 125cc but the 50 is only really for someone who cannot ride a 125cc
@@Ridingreviews thank you!!
Get an r125 instead bruh.
Unless the insurance costs for 50 vs 125 are dramatically different: go for 125.
Nice cup of tea just spawned in
My magic powers tea on tap
I found a Vespa Sprint 2T that's from 2015 and looks like new in the photos he sent me. Originally a 50 cc, it's been upgraded to a 70 cc engine. Is it worth $2400? Or should I buy a cheap bicycle or ciao Piaggio moped for now´, just to get around town this Summer and save up for a motorcycle license costing $3500, then invest in a real Vespa 300 cc or motorcycle instead? I'm wondering about the value for money and if the 70 cc upgrade offers significant advantages over the 50 cc. What are your thoughts on starting out with 70 cc?
I'd appreciate your advice so I don't end up regretting a second-hand Vespa purchase online. Thanks for your insights!
i would be a bit dubious about buying a modified bike for that much modified 2t bike tend to be a bit unreliable
@@Ridingreviews I see. please tell me examples of what can be unreliable so I can check this with the owner as soon as possible, Is a 3.5-hour long train ride to him to go see it and then to ride that same rode back is long.. so I wanna know if is worth even going out to his city now to see it in person, I do not know much at all about engines.. ..
thanks for getting back!
My first scooter was a 50cc 2 stroke scooter.
Speedwise, maxed at 90km/h downhill (was derestricted), 70/80kmh flat.
Downside? Fuel consumption. 4L/100
New 50cc on scooters are gutless, slow.
Id rather say, go instead for a 125
Two strokes are alot of fun
@@Ridingreviews they are. I still miss that Gilera Stalker sometimes! Since had fat knobby tyres, I did many trails with it for fun. They're all about fun!
I would stay away from a 50cc and get a 125cc or 150cc if you want to ride on anything but 25 mph roads. In the U.S. a 50cc scooter with hit 40 mph, but takes forever to get there.
@@geraldscott4302 if you are 16 in the uk you arnt alowed to ride anything bigger
I have a aprilia rs 50 and it hits the red at 60mph 😁
I know, but it's a 2 stroke, and legally, for a.16 year old it is supposed to do 30mph
What you paying insurance?
a lot of people are just building a custom ebike that goes faster than a 50cc moped scooter and some ride them illegally on a puplic road and paths
i know and they can go alot faster
how can i take the main seat off of the yamasaki ym50re as its locked on with a bolt i cant reach with a wrench
ruclips.net/user/shortsc9t-umeCBdY sorry for the delay here is a video just for you
hi i’m 16 thinking about getting a 50cc scooter but i live in quite a hilly area i only weigh around 10 stone, but do you think that it would be suitable and be able to get me up those hills, thanks
No 50 cc is good on hills, maybe a moped would be better
Put on a 80cc kit and you will go 40+ mph uphill
I’ve been wanting to purchase a mash fifty but I can’t find it anywhere for purchase. Do you know any websites?
there isn't a dealer for these in the uk at the min

I don't want to bother with licence and CBT , but I weigh 20stone. I am OK on a 100cc, will a 50cc work in London no hills
yes it will work the issue would of been the hills
@Ridingreviews Wow I wasn't expecting that answer, I'll need to check out more of your videos, I really miss riding bikes.
Do you need a a1 license to ride a 125cc? Or can you ride a 125cc with a cbt and provisional license?
@@retrograde330 no just a cbt
If you wear steel caps you risk losing your toes
Worst case, that's more for if a heavy weight falls on it
Hey guys. Where I can buy this bike .can you give information
yamasaki.co.uk or lexmoto.co.uk
I had one when i turned 16 a couple years ago, immediately upgraded to a 125cc when i turned 17. Nobody else except 50cc riders feels the pressure of having a queue of traffic behind them while they are full throttle going up a hill at a whopping 15mph 😂. That being said they are cheap to drive and insure so i might look at getting one again for the correct price
you can make them go a bit faster but they will never be rocket ships but they are designed not to be fast
@@Ridingreviews the problem is the lack of torque I think. I think if people are gonna get a 50cc an electric equivalent might be a better option it would likely go quicker up hills and get away from the lights faster.
Insurance is how much??
£500 to £700
I am planning on getting a bike but i don't know if its begginer friendly and if I'll be able to handle it Rieju RS3 50 it is 50cc since im planning on getting it at 17 or 16 but i really don't know much about bikes and its giving me a lot of stress, should i get it as a girl?
the girl thing doesnt make any difference i would get this at 16 and get a 125 at 17 with a little practise im sure you will be fine most people are
i have tried to fix this by changing the fuel filter but my bike still loses power after braking or going uphill and the engine slows down and sounds diffrent. I can be full throtle and just stand still but after about 3 minutes it regains power can you possibly tell me why?
ps sorry for long comment
this is usually cause by one of 3 thing the tappets are to tight the tps is faulty or the idle control valve is faulty
,Hi Chris thanks for the informative video, my question though, can a 50cc scoot move like 70km in one day, if i moved, 2x35km? and what could be the implications?
Yes, absolutely there is no reason why it carnt go more than that the only limitations is how long you can ride it for
@@Ridingreviews like going to school/work every weekday
They can. I did that with a 2 stroke, in a day rode 130km (over 80 miles)
@@SandStormPower i actually want to you it for commuting
@@1corinth15_1_4 when I had my 50cc I used to commute on it, and on my days off, used to go adventure mode.
Mine was off road (Gilera Stalker), it was usual getting some beating off-track too.

for a good one about £1200

In comparison to other new motorcycles, it isn't really, but for just the money, i guess it is
Yamasaki sounds like a chinese ripoff brand, would never recommend to anyone a 4 stroke 50cc
Only being capable of 30 miles is dangerous, you won't be even going at 30 because the acceleration is terrible on most bikes and if there is a slight hill, the speed will drop to 18 or 10 and let's be honest, nobody respects the 30 mph law, at least on the other EU countries
i agree about the 30 mile an hour thing but not about the Yamasaki Yamasaki is owned by Mr Yamasaki it isn't a rip off
@@Ridingreviews Didn't know that, but it really sounds like they took Yamaha and Kawasaki then mixed them together

I googled it. Allegedly you dont need L plates or a CBT for a 50cc. Anything above a 50cc you do.
