Thanks for watching! That rule actually got reversed maybe 15 years ago maximum. Now if you’re turning into a junction on the same side of the road you’re driving on, it’s your right of way. No more odd waiting.

You should try the Honda NS-1 50 (there is also a NS-1 75cc version) I think that's the direct competition of the TZR-50 on the Japanese market. Looks clean and nice, nevermind the repair on the fairings as long as the engine is running well.
@@SmallBikeStuff it has a good storage space though, it can fit a full face helmet, the tank is under the seat, the one's on show being a dummy or cover for the storage, the helmet's storage is only available for the NS-1 50.
My mate had this model back in 1997, I had the NS-1 50. The TZR was a hair quicker. We had to derestrict both bikes, the TZR has a speedo triggered speed restriction, if you try to bypass by say removing the speedo cable, then it restricts at 8,000rpms or thereabouts. We ended up fitting a switch to the wiring so you road the bike 10 feet or so then turned it off. If the one in the video is cutting out at 8000rpms in all gears, it makes me think the restriction wiring to the speedo it not connected as it should rev to 11 / 12k in the first few gears then gradually restrict so the top speed is never over 60kph. The NS-1 was gearbox restricted so you just make it think it is in neutral all the time or a low gear. I currently have a few of the 75cc versions, I put up 2 videos on my channel.
down on engine , in the place to change gears on the gear box have one cable. take off the cable , NOTICE : not the neutral cable of the gear box. After this not cut the engine on 8100 rpm.
The way that engine has been restricted is super annoying, Yamaha have not made a cylinder with the correct port timing to only allow the engine to rev to 8K which means there is a huge mis-match between what the port timing of the cylinder wants the engine to do and what the ignition timing of the engine will allow. In 1982 when I was 16 I had a Honda MT5, it was restricted but at least it was rideable, Honda had 'balanced' all of the components of the engine to only allow it to make 2.5 BHP. 3 years ago I purchased a basket case of a Honda MT5 as a project, I decided I was going to turn it into the MT5 that I wished I had when I was 16, I have a lot more knowledge on 2 smokers now so I spent many hours porting the cylinder along with many other mods such as re-profiling the head so that it has a working squish band and a decent compression ratio. It runs a bigger carb, modified exhaust (looks stock but is a 'proper' expansion chamber hidden inside the stock pipe). It runs a Ignitech programable ignition system. I've also replaced the stock 5 speed gear cluster with a 6 speed cluster from a MTX80. The stock engine runs to about 7k with no powerband to speak of, mine starts making power at 7k, peak power is at 8.5k and the engine will rev to 9k RPM. The 6 speed box helps keep the engine in the powerband. I'm a lot heavier now compared to when I was 16 but the bike pulls very well, it does an easy 55+ MPH on the flat, (90KPH) the bike looks factory fresh but is a wolf in sheep's clothing! (Well maybe an angry poodle in sheep's clothing!)
Unrestricted an longer gear ratio and it would be a good bike. I had to do the same with my Yamaha jog. The shop asked me when I went buy it and did it for free. Much more usable. The only thing I don't like about 50cc is limited top speed. But in New Zealand it means no need for wof and rego is cheaper.
Imagine seeing those flying past u on the bicycle lanes at 25 to 30km/h :D that was what 15 year old teens were restricted to back then. Had a mt5 doing 90 with a 65cc kit but got caught by the cops when I rode to a school party by a lake in the 8th grade :D 30kph limit restored :P
Always been a fan of 2t Yamaha's, if I could afford one when I was that age I definitely would, but now I am older it seems a lot of money for an extra 2mph.
Yeah I know what you mean. They are a dream bike when you're young. As you get older they still be a dream bike but the justification for owning one gets harder.

Here in the US, people stick 50cc motors on actual bicycles with a centrifugal clutch and no gearbox and they perform better than this. I have seen them doing 45mph or more (75km/h). This is more like a child's toy, something I could have ridden when I was 4 years old. But there are certainly ways to fix this bike and get some actual speed out of it. Should be able to get 60-70mph out of a bike like this. My first ride was on a TZ125. I've never ridden anything smaller and have a '05 Harley Dyna (with the small motor, lol) and an '82 VF750S that needs a lot of work. I'm thinking of building a custom 2 stroke bike with a "big" Rotax 582 motor.
It's not broken - it just has a CDI enforced Rev limit as mentioned in the video. Here's the same motor basically stock, but with no CDI enforced Rev limit: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.html
For who and which market are these intended for? In Europe we have 50cc restricted to 45 km/h for young drivers with no real motorcycle license. Unrestricted it would demand 18yo and motorcucle license, and if you got that you dont want a 50cc because you can drive a bigger bike. I guess rules are different depending on country but usually there is no huge difference. And that rev limiter was a real fun killer, it would be better with a speed based limiter which I guess was not common back in 1990, but now most restricted wehicles has it. Btw the other bike you showed looked like an FS-1 which they were named in Europe but with a AM6 engine?
This bike was made for the Japanese market and was later imported to New Zealand as a used bike. The other bike shown was a Yamaha RZ50, which was featured in the video before this and is unrestricted: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.htmlsi=GqenUvTf3d8ld3Q3

I had the later version of this for a few years. There’s vids of it on my channel. It was great fun, especially with 70cc kit.
That one looks in lovely condition!
Thanks so much for watching!

I had a Kawasaki AR50 when I was 16 in 1995 (legal learner limit for 16 years olds in the UK) it was a nice 2stroke that my dad tuned up so it would do around 60mph. I remember feeling like a legend on it, I would've done anything for one of these one of my mates had rich parents and had an Aprillia RS50 a year later I turned 17 so could have a 125cc right in the middle of the 2 stroke heyday of NSR, TZR. RGV, RS to name but a few I had an NSR that would easily top 100mph then we passed our tests and it was on to 250 2strokes or 400 4 cylinder bikes happy days. Sorry sent on a ramble there..
What a beauty!
In 1982 I bought a Honda MB 5 motorcycle new. It was six hundred and something, can't remember the exact price. My brother-in-law owned a Chevrolet LUV pickup at the time, so we went to the dealership and picked it up. I took my bike test on it and used it for back and forth to work for a number of years. Two Stroke and was so easy to kickstart. How I wish I still owned it. It would easily do 50mph.
What a wicked little story. I bet you still wished you owned it! How cool.
i loved my 125 version. such an awsome bike. So much fun.
Thanks for watching. Plenty more 2 strokes on the channel!
I got one a few yr back to remind me of the first one I had in the 90s, great fun on a Sunday afternoon. Even at my age, they ain't cheap, but they never were in the 90s
A friend of mine had the 125 also, I had the honda mbx125, fun times.
It's a sign of age when someone still sees these as modern. Guilty here.
Haha whoops. Fair call
I had an 01 rs50 for awhile i made into a 80. With this malossi kit 77cc. 21 mm carb. Arrow exhaust. I got it to go 105 kph stock gearing.
You'd like my yamaha tzm 150 i got from Thailand. It was faster then the nsr150sp my friend had. Only mods is a aftermarket pipe. Every time it pull 3 to 4 bike lengths on the nsr. Smaller rider on nsr bigger guy tzm. The lil yam would win everytime. Nsr was not broken or worn out. Had a tyga pipe.
Thailand se Asia is the king of small bore sport bikes. Nsr tzm tzr nsr kr/zx rg 150's. Other sportbikes I've seen in 125 100 80 sizes.
I still have the tzm but mostly mess around with 250's now.
I had a Honda MB50, and it's was a blast around town!

My favorite little bike of all time. Will never forget 😢
Love these tiny 50's.
I am riding a TZM50R in Japan.
In Japan, parts to remove the limiter are sold.
However, engine parts and other parts are gradually being discontinued.
Here it's the same engine with a derestriction: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.html
i had a 2 stroke 49cc yamaha tzr i switched the cdi and exhaust and i had no rev limiter after that and it went from 40-50 kmh to 95-100 kmh
Nice - have the same engine in another bike on this channel and it's derestricted. Check out the RZ50 videos.
I bought a Yamaha DT50-LC as my first motorcycle when I was like 11yrs old.... I'm pretty sure they had the same 2t liquid 50cc as these.
I loved that "little" thing (wasn't so little lol), it was their enduro/dual sport motorcycle, 50cc 2t, but was the almost the size of a 125 or 250 full size dual sport.
I rode that thing everywhere for over 2yrs, it was left for strictly street duty(of course legally 😅🤣) when I picked up my 84 CR250R and started riding that on dirt and trails as I couldn't keep up with my older friends who all had 125 or 250cc dirt bikes and one had an LT500 Quadzilla and such, so I needed something faster lol....mine had a bunch of work done to it, nothing was stock, and I was then faster than absolutely all my friends and nobody wanted to ride my bike because they were all afraid of it 🤣
I'm 42 now, shame I sold all the cool bikes and quads I owned throughout the years. 😖
Hindsight is funny huh? At the time they're just machines we use and as time goes on we wish they'd never left the shed. Thanks for watching and leaving that comment. Love to read stuff like this.
How much average it gives meaning how many km per litre?

Got a newer one out 05 with am6 engine its amazing and for a stock unrestricted 50cc mine goes 85 kph and is a blast to drive

how did you unrestricted it i have one and it only do 70kmh
@@xss1267 cdi with switch ad leovince exhaust

It needs to come back to life and power a bike! Thanks for watching.
I had a Honda MBX 50 cc LC, which I used to travel to school and back every day. It could do a 115km/h and was great to ride, no ringing its neck to get up to speed as this guy says. Our bikes in South Africa was not restricted.
Watch the video before this one, unrestricted stock RZ50: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.html&ab_channel=SmallBikeStuff
I've seen one of these with a YZ 80 engine in it. Pretty fast and fun bike.
That would be an absolute weapon! Check out this video of the same engine with no restriction: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.htmlsi=70yKrX18s2UrTQFp
@@SmallBikeStuff Awesome little bikes for sure!
I love small capacity two stroke bikes. A quick question for you guys. In NZ do you still have to give way to traffic turning right into a junction? I remember having to do that twenty years ago. Was a bit weird at first!
Thanks for watching! That rule actually got reversed maybe 15 years ago maximum. Now if you’re turning into a junction on the same side of the road you’re driving on, it’s your right of way. No more odd waiting.
Love the red and white colour
It looks awesome. Thanks for watching!
Je possède 1 TZR 50cc de 1998 et 1 autre de 2013 👍👍👍👍 cela fait plus de 20 ans que je roule en TZR 50cc ,full débridé simplement je prends plus de100 km/h👍👍👍👍24000 kilomètres et juste un piston de changé 👍👍👍👍
Such a beautiful bike👍
It is! Thanks for watching.
You should try the Honda NS-1 50 (there is also a NS-1 75cc version) I think that's the direct competition of the TZR-50 on the Japanese market. Looks clean and nice, nevermind the repair on the fairings as long as the engine is running well.
Would love to find an NS-1 to ride!
@@x-105strikefreedomthe Cagiva Prima 50 was the same concept about the fuel tank
I have ns-1 50cc fun to ride
Had a buddy get one new..it looked cool..kinds slow vs my bigger bikes though.🤠
Fun to ride a small bike fast though!
What happens after the limiter is removed? How fast does it go? 60KPH looks like cake walk for it.

I had a 2004 tzr 50 when it came out. It was so much fun
I can't imagine owning one brand new. It would be so cool!
@@SmallBikeStuff it was i pre ordered it. Great day when it arrived i wish i never got rid of it
down on engine , in the place to change gears on the gear box have one cable. take off the cable , NOTICE : not the neutral cable of the gear box. After this not cut the engine on 8100 rpm.
It’s all happening all action at 45mph….. Oh to be 16 again😀👍🇬🇧
Wheelies!! :) Any faster then the unrestricted FS1-E that I had back in 1976? Love the bodywork as it remines me of when the TZR250 first came out.
Here’s the same engine unrestricted: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.htmlsi=T2paIvW5NH-3LNo7
Had one of these as a first bike i miss it.
That would have been an amazing bike to have as your first one.
Just heard u mention nz,me too,so 50cc means I could ride this on car license yup, were could I buy something like that in Auckland?
These fully manual 50cc bikes I've been filming are all registered as 50cc motorcycles - which require a motorcycle license.
The first thing people who owned these in Japan did was to derestrict them. There are tons of kits still available.
Same engine, derestricted: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.htmlsi=00fTaOlYz486s3bd
Check out this derestricted version of the same engine: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.html
@@SmallBikeStuff I checked it out. Well worth a look. I want 1.
Whats about the Piaggio SKR 125 2 STROKE?
I would love to film one - not many Piaggios made it here to New Zealand though.
Ahhh what a shame to get caught. Bet it was fun while it lasted!
Wow. This almost makes my PGO Metro 50 seem like a toddler's tricycle.
Nothing wrong with a PGO! Lots of them around here.
I wish they would make an auto version of this. 6 gears for a 50cc is nonsensical, do you go into second at 3mph?
About 4mph but yes.
Ride an RS50 man!! Got mine up to 68mph stock, just with a 19mm CP carb. Pretty insane!!
I uploaded an RS50 video 3 weeks ago, check it out: ruclips.net/video/i4Yp17gctMg/видео.htmlsi=yerL36cvojKaiHBc
Are you sure it is restricted? Not because of the carb is too rich?
Yeah - here is the same engine derestricted: ruclips.net/video/xJwNhnDzNwE/видео.htmlsi=zMtDcBVC2y4OG_pi

Agreed. The video before this, Yamaha RZ50 - it has the same engine but derestricted and they can be absolute power houses.
I wouldn't mind having one
Wish this one was mine!
It didn't surprise me you have a Harley the way you talk. Yawn...
