in the months following the deaths of Greg Lake and John Wetton, my band would preface our closing song w/ the verses of 21st Century Schizoid Man; we'd planned on adding the full song to our regular set, but after the death of Greg Lake, we decided we wanted to do at least a bit of a tribute to KC, so we bumped the verses into our set instead of rushing the full song. Luckily we got better at it by the time John Wetton passed, but it wasn't exactly a happy time, all three of us were big fans of King Crimson.
I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of this interpretation. A mighty fine tribute, indeed. I first heard the original on an AM radio station when it first came out, I had just turned thirteen. I was enchanted instantly, although my tastes were immature and unsophisticated. A few years later, I heard the whole album, and that was it for me. I adore KC.

I saw Crimson on the THRAK tour. I don't think I blinked even once. We went to Denny's after the show. Ordering larks' tongues in aspic... was by far the nerdiest moment of my life
I just love these guys. Sean sounds just like his dad. You can hear John's voice come sing through him, but at the same time, has coming to his own. His daddy is looking down and with a smile smile smile! He's one of the proudest daddies in Rock and roll heaven. And Les, well he is truly great at anything and everything that he does. He is definitely King of his domain and of his art. Together they make one exceptionally original band.
Sean's voice is higher. He has always sounded more like Robert Schneider to me, or 1966-period JL with varispeed. I love Sean's voice. He doesn't sound much like JL. Maybe he doesn't want to.
Sometimes life gets overwhelming and you ask yourself "What's the point, why do I keep going on?". Then this happens and life is set straight and it all seems to make sense. LOVE IT! Thank you!!
I really needed cheering up, and today it was this clip that did it for me. (The last two days, it was RUclips clips of Focus performing "Hocus Pocus" live.)
Great to see respectable covers of our classics. Yes, drummer just simply nailed it! Les one hell of a bass player! Keyboards just great!..Notice the crowd's faces in "awe" LISTENING TO THIS?? Wish Sean's guitarwork at the end lasted at least 10 minutes longer!!
Wish I had seen these guys but I had the huge pleasure of seeing the John Wetton King Crimson then 2 decades later saw Robert Fripp bring out the double trio King Crimson. They are a genre of one and prog and experimental rock titans, so glad to see one of their songs done so well. Great stuff...
I remember when Brian Hillary brought the newly released King Crimson album home, we listened. He always had the very best taste in all things. I miss him even today, so many years later. RIP Brian! Thank you for this faithful and creative rendition!!
I remember reading somewhere that John Lennon really appreaciated In The Court Of The Crimson King (the album), and he confessed his loved ones that he wished he had written it. Perhaps this motivated Sean to make a cover.
I saw TCLD play in San Luis Obispo just prior to the pandemic. It was the best show I've seen in decades. I went hoping they might play Thela Hun Jingeet. They played no less than three long Crimson tributes!!! I was over the moon, child. Should I accidentally meet either Les or Sean outside of one of their shows, I will express my gratitude in as respectful and sincere a way as I can.
I’m so glad this music still dwells in the hearts and minds of young musicians,...though the guys are not young (I saw Les in the 90s) hopefully this music will be with us as long as we are here.
This is the best cover I've ever heard of ITCOTCK. They nail everything: the vocals, instrumentation, tone, and all the little things that make the original such a weird and amazing piece of timeless music.

Go ahead and buy the 10" EP "Lime And Limpid Green" that features this tune and Pink Floyd's "Astronome Domine". Yes, this performance of King Crimson's "In The Court Of The Crimson King", is the best live cover I have yet heard. Sean Lennon is getting really talented at many instruments, notably guitar and drums, but his song writing is incredible. If you can find it, pick up his other group's LP, "Midnight Sun". Name of that band is THE GHOST OF A SABER TOOTH TIGER, OR "GOASTT". Side one of the LP is an incredible set of songs that are quite psychedelic. Good Stuff!!!
Simply amazing, this song has changed my life 50 years ago, and to hear it now with John Lennon's son , Les and the rest of the band is fantastic, great version.
I absolutely LOVE this collaboration of musicians. The material they have written and the covers theyve chosen are outstanding and worthy of being brought into the next generation of listeners and potential musicians. Les and Lennon together are like magic. Fantastic. I hope to witness this project LIVE at some point. Les now holds the spot of most viewed artist in my long list of concerts. 11 times in various bands. Long Live the odd ones.
Sean is truly a composer as good as any working in film or elsewhere today. For years I've been a huge admirer---I bought Cibo Matto's work in which he was involved, his Into the Sun, Friendly Fire (and saw him live at Smith's Olde Bar in 2007 when he was touring for it), and his GOASTT work, and now this collaboration with Claypool simply tops it all off. I hope he keeps this up forever. Bravo, Sean.
He looks like his father, but is a brilliant composer, too. And this cover is great.....! God, I imagine how it could be if John would be on the same stage at this moment?! With his son...a dream...maybe he was?

To think that people are still jamming to a song released over 50 years ago is a testament to King Crimson's greatness! Magnificent
Yeah, but people still like AC/DC too... your logic is flawed.

Actually, no. Listen to ALL King Crimson. There is no bad era.
