I wonder if it would be possible to grow vegetation there in an area protected from the sheep. The bare mountains, however pretty, look like stripped earth. They're trying, and succeeding, in similar conditions in Scotlands' mountains, reforesting those bare landscapes. They partially use plants and scrubs whose roots can penetrate and find hold into the rocky underground. Reforestation would definitely be an advantage for the community.
An area protected from the sheep is not sufficient. It must also be protected from the wind. The same to fly a drone. On May 22, I was in Leirvík with my own vehicle and I wanted to go to Gjógv, at just a few km, but the weather was catastrophic, and I had to renounce. If You go to Faroe, you should stay at least two days in the same place to increase the probability of having a nice day. I shall do that next time, in 24 or 25. Once you've been to the Faroe, you'll want to go back because it's really fascinating.
