    Capaldi, he was my favourite.
    He always felt to me that age had caught up with the Doctor and he didn’t have it in him to care anymore, but he still had bouts of compassion. He really fit the cliche of the uncaring immortal but with sudden upsurges of passion.

    Eccleston (9) was the first one of whom I watched a full episode, but Smith (11) is my all-time favorite, but I’m partial to all other main incarnations, including Hurt (War).
    Speaking of the late John Hurt, he was actually really cool. He was in 3 major sci-fi productions. He was Executive Officer Kane in _Alien_ (1979), reprised the role in a cameo in _Spaceballs_ (1987), and finally appeared as the War Doctor in 2013.
    Also, Capaldi (12) and Baker (4) are tied for my second favorite; they’re both fun and witty in their own ways. Capaldi especially since he’s extra-chaotic but can be extremely serious when necessary, and the canon connection between the 12th Doctor and Capaldi’s previous role in _The Fires of Pompeii._ And I like Jackson Lake for his story and it’s inspiring message. And Peter Cushing (the _Dalek_ Films’ Doctor) is cool too, since his movies are an alternate take on Terry Nation’s Dalek serials.

    Too accurate, I am so neutral. Whenever I take personality tests, my results are always right down the middle of everything. I started watching doctor who during Tennant but Smith was my first one I was old enough to really understand. He is like the embodiment of doctor who to me. He’s fun and silly and childish but also serious and brooding. He captures both the childhood wonder and adventure, and the complexity and maturity. Other doctors do this too of course but I find he has the perfect balance.

    • @8LiterallyJustTheNumber8
      @8LiterallyJustTheNumber8 2 года назад +3

      @@brucesimmons5517 Yeah, Hartwell, McGann, And Smith are all tied for my favorites. I personally think the Hartnell era is in general the best era of the show's history in terms of characters, character dynamics, story variety, and sheer ambition. Matt Smith really brought an element of youthful excitement and optimism to the role while managing to seem like an emotionally damaged grampa, which for me was a combination of character traits I'd loved in former Doctors but had never seen used in such unity before. And Paul McGann, I love everything about his performance so that goes without saying..but the wilderness years aren't just great because of the Doctor. The scale of the Whoniverse has never felt larger than in the wilderness years, where anything goes, any concept can be explored, and the media didn't feel obligated to oversimplify ideas to maintain mass appeal.

I just really like the whole "tortured man just out of war who is still trying to do the right thing and be The Doctor again" thing they were going for with him. Not to mention his performance was consistently fantastic and RTD didn't have enough time to mess up his characterisation like with other characters.
