I mean if you really....really want to challenge yourself. Do a 10,000 piece version of that heat based puzzle were you had to constantly run a hair dryer or heated item on it to see the color gradient. Then had to assemble it on a light board because there were so many false fits. Im sure you would LOVE to do that but in 10,000 pieces. Ok I had my Ultra funny joke that made you want to throw your phone in the trash can and quit responding to fans all together. But seriously do something fun with a lot of colors. You don't have to challenge yourself with every puzzle.

You are a great story teller. I'm genuinely really impressed how you manage to make a video about someone doing a 'purple' puzzle interesting, suspenseful and funny.
For longer than I've been alive, my family used to do a few puzzles together every Christmas. 8-12 of us would get together for the holidays and spend a little time here and there working on puzzles over a period of two weeks. That all ended after we got this puzzle. After the third day all but 3 of us quit working on it. It was too tough and no longer fun after completing the center. Didn't have a table large enough and ended up splitting it into three sections. We had all of the same problems you had with the border and false fits. Took us nearly two weeks to complete it. Near the end, with all the holes filled I wanted to call it done, but my grandfather went over it with a flashlight just like you did, finding all? the mistakes. The next two years no one wanted to help me do a puzzle. After that, family Christmases ended. Found your channel yesterday. Nice to see people still enjoy puzzles.

We do a lot of puzzles in our home. We get a lot of puzzles second hand and like you I don’t care if a piece or two are missing. I would love to do this puzzle but the PURPLE would be overwhelming to a point. Between a dog who loves to eat the pieces and a toddler, I’m not sure it would ever be finished. My wife and teenager would start it but not sure they’d stick with it once the sky was the only thing left. Our son refuses to do boarders and jumps to the first two pieces he finds that match. I’m glad it’s something we all love as a family. Our toddler, she loves puzzles and does several a day. So far the largest by count was a 2500 piece puzzle. I’m glad we stumbled on your channel. Looking forward to seeing your next puzzle.
You are an example of perseverance Karen. I would not have the patience for so much purple 😅 That ‘Dragon Forest’ 9000 piece is my dream puzzle! I really hope to do it someday.
I Love how you break down everything and quantify your time and journey. And how you make comparisons to other puzzles and journeys. You’re fascinating! ❤️
I think the false fits added a lot to the frustration with this puzzle. Yes, huge sections of one color are hard, but it's not like you haven't done plenty of monocromatic or gradient puzzles or boring sections in other large puzzles before. If you just have to try them once, that's still a lot of work, but feels satisfying once you find a piece. But here, there were pieces up until the very end you had to change around and pull out again until you had a "good enough" solution, and that feels like ketchup puzzle all over again.
Congratulations on finishing it again, and finally having your dinner table back!! I love how dedicated you are about truly finishing it! Like taking the time to spot all these false fits and finding the right place for each piece, even tho we viewers probably would've never noticed, if you hadn't pointed it out! 💜💜 And you laying/posing on the finished puzzle will always be my favorite!!
i would've ignored the false fits, like that is dedication (and masochism, honestly). Congrats on finishing this insane puzzle! i don't think i will ever do anything above a thousand pieces and live precariously through you for the larger ones.
Really admire your dedication to finding the false fits Karen! Shows how much patience and care you have to make sure your hard work is accurate and correct, amazing due diligence
Purple purple purple! I bet you are seeing that still in your nightmares! Maybe next years puzzle camp can tackle a giant puzzle! That way you don’t have to do it alone. Nice work, Karen!!
I did the 9000 pcs dragon puzzle last year! It is absolutely beautiful all the way through and you're not left with a million solid dark pieces in the end. ❤
Wow. My original guess of about 93 hours was pretty close. You are blessed to have so much natural light. In Ohio, it is often overcast, so we don't get as much natural light. From watching your videos, I know to stay away from puzzles with too much dark purple, black, or brown in them. Can't wait for your competition videos. Wishing you and your team the best. say hi to Alejandro and Kristina for us.
The ending to the puzzle itself was so sad and anticlimactic with all the false fits! 😂😭 But the ending of the video actually made me a little emotional, with you going back home and recreating where it all first started! So wonderful! I’m glad you’re finally finished! Now, you may feel otherwise after that sky, but *Purple* is my favorite color 😉💜 CONGRATS, KAREN! 🧩🌌
I wonder how many people would watch the entire puzzle videos in real time.. this speed was perfect. 😊 Actually it would make a cool dining room table if you add a piece glass over it
I did the mini 1000 version of this puzzle. I had all the same issues. And tackled the puzzle basically the same way you did (including solving all the same problems). I’m just an average at home puzzler. I loved this puzzle so much, I bought a second sealed one. It was sooooooo rewarding to finish it!!! (Although my used one was missing one piece). Someday I hope to find and be able to afford this 9000 piece version. 🙏🙏. I’m 53 and this is one my bucket list!! I love watching you do puzzles. I marathon watch you while I’m doing other things and can’t puzzle. Like right now I’m grooming my very furry friends even tho I’d rather be doing a puzzle. Lol.
Amazing job Karen! The final puzzle looks incredible! I would consider doing this puzzle one day if I had the room, but only because watching you do this has given me real strategies and tips - like using a flashlight on the purple! I will say that dragon forest 9000piece is one I would try first - soooooo gorgeous!
Karen does a once-in-a-lifetime puzzle... twice 💜 Purple is my favorite color, not sure I will ever attempt this astronomically huge puzzle but I super enjoyed watching the series
I honestly don't know how you managed to complete it, it looked like absolute 'purple' torture! WELL DONE! I see you have quite a few large puzzles in your closet that are waiting to be done and thought maybe we could vote on which you should tackle next spring?
Congrats on finishing! While Purple is my favorite color, there is no way that I'd do this puzzle! The sky is ridiculously hard! I kind of feel like once puzzles get to a certain size, with repeated cuts and very little detail, the puzzle company should put either letters or some kind of detail on the back side so you can flip a piece and go, nope, this is the wrong spot. That way if you want to use it, you can, if you want the difficulty, you can ignore it. I watched another puzzler do the giant museum puzzle and she did each section as designed (didn't mix them up) and still had so many false fits that in the end, she couldn't put the sections together because of them. And at the size of the puzzle, not being able to connect it seems to defeat the whole point! I think I'll stick to 2000 and under! :) Thank you for sharing your journey, Karen! It was a fun one to watch.
I would NEVER attempt a 9000 piece puzzle. But I have really enjoyed all of your videos of it from the beginning to the very end. There was so much PURPLE!
I love purple, but I would NEVER do this puzzle! But I loved how you filmed it to bring us along the journey with you! Well done, and I can't wait to see you compete in Spain next month! A friend of mine, Andrea, will actually be there too, so I'm excited to tune into the livestreams to watch you both!
Oh man, friends coming in clutch with the missing piece save! What a wild journey, from you doing it as a kid, to finally getting in those last pieces now. Love the last clip with the comparison. Congrats on finishing this beast once again!
Just finished your first 3000 piece puzzle!!!! Took me two weeks while recovering from surgery, but it was super fun and a great way to pass the time. My roommates keep asking when I’m going to move it off the table-I keep telling them it took me so long and I want to enjoy it!!! 😂😂 Great job finishing this puzzle!!
Congratulations Karen, on getting through all the black and PURPLE pieces in your puzzle and finishing the whole thing! 💜🖤 I'm glad to see that you taped it as well. I was hoping you would.
It’s good to hear someone else makes up terms to describe the pieces they’re looking for. My inner puzzling monologue is often, “ I need a person piece with a twisted right arm and fat left arm pointing down.” 😂 Congratulations on completing it. I would not even attempt that one with all those dark pieces. Hats off to you.
Congratulations, Karen. Who knew that hell was all shades of purple! I feel that younger Karen deserves all her RUclips success after finishing the puzzle in 2009 in less than perfect conditions. Your determination and perseverance in both solves is to be commended. Good luck for your competition training. I hope it is more enjoyable.
I'd also most likely spend ages at the end making sure I get all the false fits into the right places. That sort of thing does bug me so it's super satisfying to me when you finally get it all in the right place.
I remember watching 24 000 piece puzzle video and when you finished it, it felt so amazing I feel the same thing now, watching those videos come out real time instead of watching a recording of many videos back then
Well, I'm not so sad I couldn't get my hands on this puzzle anymore. 🤣 That looked TOUGH, but the way you pushed through is so encouraging. It inspired me to stop procrastinating with my own half-finished 6k puzzle so I can get to the 9k dragon one.
There are a couple puzzles that although I like the picture of, but I don’t have the brain capacity (colour or puzzle size) or floor space to do it if it’s a half decent sized puzzle
Congrats on completing the puzzle! I've been watching your videos for about a year or so now, even going back to some of your older videos to binge-watch. Your dedication is amazing and it's even brought my interest into puzzles, something I've never thought about much until your channel. Looking forward to your next project!
If I had spent 17 days/96 hours on a 9000 piece puzzle and there ending up being a missing piece I would have had a mental breakdown😂 Props to you for not crying from that, and congrats on completing it! I also would have said that it was good enough during all the false fits but that’s me 😂
Poor Karen, out here risking life and limb to get this puzzle done! I hope it was an extremely satisfying feeling getting it done not once, but twice! It's pretty awesome to think about how far you've come since the first time you did this puzzle, we're all so proud of you!!!!!
Thank you so much for taking us along on this journey with you.. I was excited right there with you.. when you found the missing pieces till you actually finished... so glad you taped it together and yes another great idea to photograph all your large puzzles!!! Job well done!!!
!! I've been holding off on watching this puzzle so I could watch it in full and finally I can sit in silence watching! I love your videos and they help me a lot when I'm feeling,,,, like an electrified slinky on an escalator? Anyways, I love your videos!
Karen, your videos are so enjoyable to watch! I have been so excited for this video to drop, and I was not disappointed! Your editing and music choices are superb - this is my favourite upload to date! I was smiling, laughing, and groaning along with you as you shone your flashlight over all those PURPLE sections! Thank you for all of the fantastic content you provide!! Until the next video! 🧩❤
False fits and lost pieces are the reason I'm wary about doing more physical puzzling. I enjoy my easy digital puzzles where I can never lose any pieces, automatically have them face the right direction, and make a satisfying click-into-place noise when you get the right piece. This is the type of puzzle I would LOVE to try in theory but would get so burnt out on that I'd never finish and hate myself for giving up. Kudos for taking it on! It's truly an incredible image and seeing it all come together is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen.
I’m so glad you enjoyed yourself while doing such a difficult puzzle! Your community is proud of you! Thank you for sharing 🤩 I’ve loved following this journey!
Congratulations on this most amazing landmark! The video capture so much of the emotion in your achievement. It was really heart warming. Thank you so much for sharing those moments of beauty and incredible technique, talent and resolve.
1) A very beautiful puzzle. 2) It is astounding that you were able to complete this puzzle. Truly remarkable. 3) This puzzle was completed at a rate of 1 piece every 39 seconds! I think you should consider keeping track of your rate as a possible measure of a puzzles difficulty. Fantastic job!
Purple is my favorite color but I would be scared this puzzle would change that lol great job sticking it out to the end Karen!! Good luck with your speed practice 😊 you deserve the mental break and I enjoy all your different puzzling adventures 💜
I'm so impressed by this! And so happy that I watched Karen doing this puzzle because I had been thinking about getting it myself but those false fits would have made me throw a fit. If you need to repeat the cut, you cannot have a near repeat of the image too.
As someone who has recently completed a mostly white puzzle, finding locations with special shape certainly helps shorten the torture LOL Another tips that might be helpful is that, whenever there are two ins/outs pockets side by side, even it doesn't have 2 sides revealing the possible shapes, one of the 2 pockets must have a special shape (that is not having two ins and outs in the opposite sides). That instantly narrows the possibility by A LOT, but still the real torture comes when there are only regular shape pieces left LOL Huge respect to Karen for not giving up on it👏just looking at the video length shocks me
omg that puzzle was EPIC. I would NEVER take on a challenge like that, it's totally out of my wheelhouse for sure ! I would love to see the books you have on the bookcase at the end of the video. Maybe a bookshelf tour ?
The largest puzzle I've ever done is a 5000 piece puzzle of a world map covered in famous landmarks and birds, and there was so much water, despite being fewer pieces, I'm sure there were more pure blue pieces in that puzzle than PURPLE/black pieces in this one. The water took me more than half the total time. Overall, the entire puzzle spanned 16 days, and it probably would have taken longer if I didn't find a small hack with the repeat puzzle cut, where I was able to find the corresponding piece shapes on the opposite side of the puzzle, take them out, and match it to the remaining water pieces to make finding the piece(s) I need WAY easier. Currently I'm working on the 9000 piece Disney Museum puzzle, and I love listening to your videos while working on it, and if you haven't tried this puzzle already, I can't recommend it enough. It has a similar feel to this one, where it's almost like a bunch of different small puzzles to do, then fill in the rest. And even though it has a similar problem of the large amount of similar pieces, this time being the frame pieces, but these frames are a lot of fun since most of them have unique patterns and details, plus it's more fun looking at gold or bronze pieces with patterns, as apposed to pure black or purple. It's a relatively easy puzzle, I didn't even completely sort the pieces, I just went through, and grouped pieces that I thought were from the same picture, and did the puzzle as I sorted.
I love watching you doing big puzzles! It's okay taking it easy and doing one giant puzzle each year. I will be waiting until the next one:) Good luck with speed puzzling
Congratulation on finishing! 🎉It’s been so fun following along in the ups and downs. And the comparison between the first and second time made it extra interesting. The determination at the end to get every purple piece in at its right place is admirable! 👏👏👏
Oh Awesome! Bought some popcorn earlier today on a whim. I am SO ready for this video! (adding lines while watching) I am always amazed how many layers deep the sorting and strategizing can go. The sorting section of the video made 100% sense, and blew my mind. And then the false fits! The backup strategies you came up with with the flashlight, puzzlecut and observation were just a skill to behold. As a problem and puzzle-solver (in the non-jigsaw sense) I applaud you 👏 . It appears true puzzle masters solve the edge last 😆. Aw man with the last pieces drama you were robbed of the satisfaction of the final piece 😥. GG for finishing! It's quite the realization how big the puzzle really is if your traditional Karen-Full-Puzzle-Swoosh can't even cover half the puzzle 😆. Also once again big props to Katie for the stats! I have a feeling that in about 10 years you'll get an itch in your fingers and you'll make a video that starts with the soundbyte at 50:28 to prove it wrong 😄. The plottwist at 51:50 hit me like a brick! I don't care about the missing pieces either. The fact that it wasn't noticeable for the viewers after you put the final piece in proves that. I certainly didn't notice. I think it's similar to how one's puzzling progress can never be "having solved exactly one tile" (becaus you need two for progress), few individual missing pieces are no biggie. Omg 55:40 melts my heart! No I don't think I can do a 9000 piece puzzle, I'd run out of air and turn purple 😆.
One more comment, maybe you can get like a huge buzzer button to whack when you insert the final piece, to stop the timer, start some music or soundbite, and add to the sense of satisfaction of finishing a puzzle. Maybe you can get one in Purple
OMG this must've been the most satisfying video I've ever seen on RUclips! As someone who entertains myself with only 1000 or 1500 piece puzzles, I can say for sure that I'd never be ready for such a huge challenge. Very well done and thank you for sharing this journey with us 😊.
Fully respect you for going in with the flashlight to catch false fits but if I got that far into the puzzle I’d be smashing pieces into place with a rubber mallet to get it over with 😂😂😂
Congrats. I never could have done that. Your puzzle piece management is incredible and those false fits are the absolute worst. On a puzzle this size it's devastating.

But here, there were pieces up until the very end you had to change around and pull out again until you had a "good enough" solution, and that feels like ketchup puzzle all over again.
If the puzzle cut had been more unique, it would have been sooo much easier
I just found my new favorite channel. I can't puzzle because I live in an apartment with two cats and no space, so I am LIVING watching your videos
The dragon puzzle would be stunning!!!
Bravo!!! Congrats, not only on finishing the puzzle, but for maintaining your sanity!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
14:10 I love the running bit of Karen saying she needs a vacation/break and then the video immediately cuts to her doing it lmao
The hallowed music and slo-mo placing of the found piece, of course followed with the usual puzzle stroke, it was great. Thank you!
It was brilliant.
Congratulations on finishing it again, and finally having your dinner table back!!
I love how dedicated you are about truly finishing it! Like taking the time to spot all these false fits and finding the right place for each piece, even tho we viewers probably would've never noticed, if you hadn't pointed it out! 💜💜
And you laying/posing on the finished puzzle will always be my favorite!!
i would've ignored the false fits, like that is dedication (and masochism, honestly).
Finally! I have not anticipated a finale this much since Endgame haha
I’m so excited !!!! Because of you i bought this puzzle. Love your channel. Love from Australia xx
Wishing you and your team the best. say hi to Alejandro and Kristina for us.
omg yes!!!!
The ending to the puzzle itself was so sad and anticlimactic with all the false fits! 😂😭 But the ending of the video actually made me a little emotional, with you going back home and recreating where it all first started! So wonderful!
I’m glad you’re finally finished!
Now, you may feel otherwise after that sky, but *Purple* is my favorite color 😉💜
CONGRATS, KAREN! 🧩🌌
I wonder how many people would watch the entire puzzle videos in real time.. this speed was perfect. 😊 Actually it would make a cool dining room table if you add a piece glass over it
That is just a livestream basically.
Such great editing and story telling of your journey of tackling that hard puzzle .
Lol.
And yes… I tried and hoped to win the first one you gave away…😂😂😂.
PURPLE!!💜 Nope, I don’t see myself ever attempting this puzzle but I loved watching YOU finish it!
words can´t express how much I was waiting for this video 😭😭😭 I'm so glad is almost an hour long!!!!!
wow, respect !! what a hard puzzle. and you done it. the result looks incredible !!
This is actually fun to watch. I don't now how I'd approach, but it's fun to see Karen sorting things out for us.
I have been following you for a couple of weeks, at most, and just binged your Zodiac puzzle. You are amazing!
Aww little Karen is just so wholesome 😂 Congrats on making your way through all those purple pieces and finally finishing!!
The amount of afford you put in those kind of big projects is incredible and seeing you still smile and enjoy doing it is awsome ❤🎉
Congratulations Karen, on getting through all the black and PURPLE pieces in your puzzle and finishing the whole thing! 💜🖤
I'm glad to see that you taped it as well.
I remember watching 24 000 piece puzzle video and when you finished it, it felt so amazing
I feel the same thing now, watching those videos come out real time instead of watching a recording of many videos back then
Well, I'm not so sad I couldn't get my hands on this puzzle anymore. 🤣 That looked TOUGH, but the way you pushed through is so encouraging. It inspired me to stop procrastinating with my own half-finished 6k puzzle so I can get to the 9k dragon one.
to answer your question: HELL NO. Too much black and PURPLE 😆 It literally feels like a nightmare puzzle to me, therefore hats off to you!
I also would have said that it was good enough during all the false fits but that’s me 😂
I don't believe in astrology but I do believe in your ability to do the most amazing puzzles!
Job well done!!!
your puzzle work is therapeutic, but after watching your world championship videos, it is your data and graphs that add to the experience, :)
!! I've been holding off on watching this puzzle so I could watch it in full and finally I can sit in silence watching! I love your videos and they help me a lot when I'm feeling,,,, like an electrified slinky on an escalator? Anyways, I love your videos!
I've read a couple comments and this might not be the "finale", anyways, I'm too excited not to watch anyways!
Karen, you are just the best. Thanks for showing us that it’s still possible to put your mind towards something and then make it happen!
Karen! You’re wonderful, I adore you. Congrats on finishing it!!
As someone who has recently completed a mostly white puzzle, finding locations with special shape certainly helps shorten the torture LOL
Another tips that might be helpful is that, whenever there are two ins/outs pockets side by side, even it doesn't have 2 sides revealing the possible shapes, one of the 2 pockets must have a special shape (that is not having two ins and outs in the opposite sides). That instantly narrows the possibility by A LOT, but still the real torture comes when there are only regular shape pieces left LOL
Huge respect to Karen for not giving up on it👏just looking at the video length shocks me
There was a lot to cover!
this was my first „big“ puzzle and i love it so much even though it is very hard in some parts. but so beautiful 😊
omg that puzzle was EPIC. I would NEVER take on a challenge like that, it's totally out of my wheelhouse for sure ! I would love to see the books you have on the bookcase at the end of the video. Maybe a bookshelf tour ?
I already put that up on Patreon!
I feel like they should just sell the puzzle as just the inner ring. Having over a 1000 pieces just beeing purple seems like a bad puzzle experience
I love watching you doing big puzzles! It's okay taking it easy and doing one giant puzzle each year. I will be waiting until the next one:) Good luck with speed puzzling
Is it normal that my heartbeat goes up the closer she gets to finish it 😊?
Congratulation on finishing! 🎉It’s been so fun following along in the ups and downs. And the comparison between the first and second time made it extra interesting. The determination at the end to get every purple piece in at its right place is admirable! 👏👏👏
Oh Awesome! Bought some popcorn earlier today on a whim. I am SO ready for this video! (adding lines while watching)
I am always amazed how many layers deep the sorting and strategizing can go.
Fully respect you for going in with the flashlight to catch false fits but if I got that far into the puzzle I’d be smashing pieces into place with a rubber mallet to get it over with 😂😂😂
That puzzle is GORGEOUS! But..... holy shit, that is insane.
Congrats. I never could have done that. Your puzzle piece management is incredible and those false fits are the absolute worst. On a puzzle this size it's devastating.
