Hey can you do course to the treasure puzzle it has 1500 pices and it really hard
Ultimate - I would really like to see you tour a jigsaw puzzle factory to show the stages in the process that go together to make a jigsaw.
i just found your channel and as a big puzzler i just want to say thank you for sharing all these puzzles with us i love the channel so much and love your energy i was very young when started puzzles and just fell in love with them so i i was so glad i found your channel thank you for all of the videos and hard work you put into doing the puzzles
Things are made to be used! I'm so happy you did this puzzle instead of just letting it languish, unpuzzled!
I was totally thinking this!
@akplmn resale I guess lol. Or not angering collectors who like things for being valuable
Funny that solving a puzzle is described as "puzzling". Seems that "puzzling" is what the puzzle does to you, as the solver, and the act of solving the puzzle would be _unpuzzling_ the puzzle... Lol.
@@glenmorrison8080🤯🤣 Feels like i read a tongue twister lol
Came to say that exact same thing?!!! ❤
The close-up rainbow shots of the holo reflecting off the light reminds me so much of Simplynailogical. The music, the angles, the holo. It was so perfect. Made me smile and gave me a nice feeling of nostalgia. Thank you for showing off all the rainbows!
Holo ALWAYS reminds me of Cristine too!
Absolutely! I'm literally painting my nails with Holo Taco while watching this video. Love the holographic shots!
I bet they’d get along as friends, they have similar energy.
I was definitely like we need to show this to Christine.
Cristine need see puzzle.
Here's my ultimate take on a hobby dupe: I like to sew and am fascinated by vintage sewing machines. Long story short, after WWII, Singer (a major sewing machine manufacturer) granted Japanese manufacturers the patent for their popular Singer 15 model; the goal was to help the country get back on its feet economically after the war. The result were hundreds, if not thousands of "Singer 15 clones," many of which are still around today and all can use the Singer 15 machine manual.
Love that story!
Kudos to you Karen for having the 'Ultimate' cheat sheet and not actually using it to solve the puzzle.
Not knitting needles but yarn - the same yarn can be sold under different labels for different prices. Love watching this Ultimate puzzle solve!
There's nothing sadder than a puzzle 🧩 that has never been solved or a toy that has never been played with. Glad you opened it.
I feel like if cristine were to do a puzzle this would have to be it. Someone should show simply this puzzle
I think Simply said she did have one that someone sent to her but it's just sitting in her house because it would probably take some time. I don't remember which video she showed it in though, so I'm not sure if it's one of the ones shown off here or an entirely different one.
I came to the comments just to see if anyone had mentioned Cristine! I actually watched this video with her in mind the whole time!
What do you think? Should I have opened the puzzle or should I have held onto it sealed as a historic artifact?
You did the right thing! They were made to be enjoyed!
You did the right thing! You shared this fun with all the Internet!
Just buy a shrinkwrap machine and rewrap it every time you've done it 😛
I see what you did there.....
And puzzles are meant to be solved!
Mysteries are to be solved and puzzles to be done
To answer your question at the end of the video: I’m deeply invested in Sudoku puzzles, and the Sudoku community definitely has and there’s one Sudoku app that’s infamous for all of their “evil” difficulty puzzles actually being the exact same puzzle! The grids on each puzzle are the same grid but flipped/rotated and with the numbers swapped. These are called “validity preserving transformations,” meaning that the actual solve path for all these “different” puzzles is the exact same - the same techniques can be used. For this reason, most people who are also deeply invested in Sudoku puzzles also *ultimately* avoid the app!
Which app is it??
I love harmless niche drama like this 😂👏🏻
@@KarenPuzzles Agreed! 😂
This reminds me of when I discovered all "find the value of x" triangles in my math class were just the 3-4-5 triangle but multiplied by a common factor, I even "cheat" on a test by just discovering the factor and missing side
Haha, I know the one you're talking about
ULTIMATE: The puzzle pieces are celebrating that they finally achieved their destiny as a solved puzzle and a source of enjoyment. They all went to the disco and got down, got funky. They also are beyond thrilled that Karen is the one who freed them from their endless prison inside the box. Karens reputation is well known among puzzle pieces. 😊
The sparkle in the dark was the ultimate. Remember filling a page with rainbow colors then covering with black and etching a drawing? I was imagining removing pieces to make a silhouette "drawing" on the black background
puzzles are meant to be solved. don't feel bad about opening it!
Yaaay! Karen's back with another puzzle that would melt my brain 😂❤
Honestly on that first day it melted mine too 🫠
You’re like the Investigative Journalist but for Jigsaw Puzzles. We Stan!
18:12 - Am I the only one who saw the shape of an Among Us figure made by the empty space on the right side? LOL! That was some 'Ultimate' shine on that puzzle, love the way it looks, and I'm glad you were able to show it to us, Karen!!!
Yes! It’s an Among Us astronaut chasing a balloon!
I was going to comment the same thing! xD
I'm happy that I'm not the only one to see this!
Yes I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I knit and definitely prefer the more expensive metal or wooden needles over cheap plastic ones. But one thing that was a revelation to me was that you do not ever need to knit on the traditional straight needles. There are also circular needles (basically two very short needles with a cable in between them to hold your stitches). They can be used to knit in the round, i.e., knit a tube (which is impossible on straight needles), but also to knit flat shapes, so they're much more multifunctional than straight needles. For many knitters, including yours truly, they are also far more comfortable than the straight needles, which are more unwieldy. You don't really need to be deep into knitting to discover this but honestly if anyone here is looking to get into knitting and doesn't have a way of borrowing someone else's straight needles or buying them super cheap second hand, don't bother getting any straight ones. Circular is the way to go. There are cheap plastic ones that are fine for learning, though if you fall in love with the craft you'll absolutely decide to splurge on an expensive set of circular ones.😂
I love the Holo Taco feel this has at the end. Kristine the holo queen would love it!
I assume puzzles are cut from the picture side, so the edges are a bit rounded on that side. But the Nordesco puzzle is cut from the opposite side from the Eatons. You must be able to flip the cutter over to cut from either of its sides. I look forward to the day Karen visits a factory for puzzles.
It's also possible that, rather than the cutter being flipped, it's the puzzle that was flipped.
@@HeyLetsDoAThingflipping the puzzle seems much easier! I imagine the cutting die needs a lot of pressure applied to it, so it'd make sense for only one side to be sharp. It might also be mounted to a metal plate to make sure the whole cutting surface stays flat to ensure a clean cut every time.
@@HeyLetsDoAThing That's why I mentioned puzzles have to be cut from the top. You can't just flip it over.
@@mattslaboratory5996 They don’t have to be, though. That’s just an assumption you made.
While I don’t knit (I crochet) and therefore cannot say anything about knitting needles, yarn companies actually do this kind of thing all the time! Most of the big brand names like Michael’s and Joann’s have their yarns made in other countries (especially Turkey) at factories. This means that the factories, while they are making the yarn for the name brands, will also sell this yarn or the mill ends to other parties for them to market to consumers. This brings in more profit for the factories overseas and is how you end up with a yarn that costs $11.99 per ball from a name brand and only $3.99 from a third party or lesser known company.
And considering the fact that projects take multiple balls, this adds up to HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS!
The holo disco party was worth all your efforts!!! 💿 🎉 🤩
Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos!
I have an anxiety disorder and watching your channel is always relaxing and satisfying for my brain. I think watching you slide pieces in to the puzzle makes my brain relax and go “wow. Everything is right in the world.” 😂❤
i love wacky shaped pieces. I hate buying modern puzzles because almost no puzzle companies nowadays make funky cuts it seems
My favorite company that’s doing old-school Springbok type of pieces is Le Puzz. The pieces don’t lock together like vintage puzzles do but they have the same type of random piece cut.
@@KarenPuzzles thank you!!
*Ultimate* Not a exactly a secret or my hobby but my Dad's 1st job was making lamps. The same lamps were shipped to high end department stores and discount stores. Only difference was the label on the lamp.
In Lego they reuse molds in different colors for different objects! Like one of my Lego Friends sets has a lantern which is actually a minifigure head mold, just as one example.
Anyway, thank you so much for unboxing this beautiful puzzle and solving it for all of us on the internet, this was really relaxing to sort pieces to haha 🧩 Ultimate!!
Love the way you shot the finished puzzle to show the holo, that was ultimate way to showcase this historic puzzle 🧩
I think the most interesting puzzle I’ve come across is “why is the loop and swoop method of tying shoelaces the same as Ian’s shoelace knot?”
It explains why topology is a difficult branch of science that requires a very flexible mind to grasp the intricacies of.
Both knots accomplish the same outcome, but through completely different means.
As the daughter of a topologist, I think I'm legally required to like this comment.
13:29 I love that the holographic pieces make a really nice, subtle rainbow when viewed from that distance!
The beautiful photography of the holographic colors was ULTIMATEly beautiful.
So excited you opened that puzzle for all to enjoy and appreciate!!! Too amazing to be kept boxed up on a shelf!!! 🧩🧩🥳. Love your channel…. as brilliant as that puzzle! Love how you highlight these rare beauties! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for selling it to me! This is such a special piece in my collection ❤️
It's neat learning about these old companies and the history of jigsaw puzzles! Thanks for doing all the research and sharing it with us!
wow! what a beautiful puzzle! definitely ultimate! I couldn’t believe how cool it looked in the dark. also, I loved the editing in this one, so funky and fun 🤩
3:25 What's inside?: OK it's a bag of pieces 😅
I don't know what else I was expecting lol
The iridescent and silver optik ones don't count as holographic at all, but still an awesome collection. Are there any modern holographic jigsaw puzzles out there that's easily purchasable? Because the ultimate one you did here is just perfect. I love holographic stuff. Would love to get to do one.
I love this puzzle--partly because it's so beautiful, but also partly because it makes the puzzles I've been dreading working on look a whole lot easier by comparison.
Karen is definitely the ultimate puzzler!!!
Same as the 'ultimate' holographic puzzle, I highly recommend using the dark-room/reflected lighting for The Frustrator. One of my favorite puzzles, but so hard to do in full daylight!
I'll definitely have to test some different lighting before I start it!
"It's a great place here." Amazing delivery.
The ultimate disco edit for the ultimate disco-aesthetic puzzle! It's a party in the dark! RAISE THE ROOF!
The ultimate puzzle challenge I've faced is a puzzled called "The Golden Gears" by Ceaco in 1995. This thing is soooo hard. I've tried to put it together a few times, but always have just taken it apart. I'm on my fourth attempt only to find out two edge pieces are now missing. Argh! Why, Karen, WHY did you get me hooked on puzzles again? 😂😂😂
The holographic B-roll sexyness has been delivered 🤩
That disco shine was the ultimate reveal! I have a hobby of Rubik's puzzles, and secretly some strange designs are exactly solved like the original 3x3x3, or so very closely to it, but you wouldn't know it by glancing at them!
Your love of puzzles is heartwarming.
Beautiful puzzle! Seeing it come to life when you turned off the lights was the ULTIMATE! 🌈✨
I've been doing a lot of diamond painting in the last few months and what I've noticed is that a few companies use the same manufacturers so we're able to evaluate if it's worth it to buy a canvas from a company just by analysing this stuff (the drills quality is something that is a bit complicated to manage and makes a huge difference in the experience and the final result). My ultimate goal is to know enough companies so I can make better choices regarding to where my money's going to lol
Thank you, Karen! Love to watch you solve these amazing puzzles we probably won't ever get the chance to do. ULTIMATE
Not really interested in puzzles and yet this lady's enthusiasm has become my daily drug
ULTIMATE! I play the ukulele, and something that might surprise people is that a lot of people use actual fishing line for the strings. Seaguar brand seems to be the best. Many companies literally buy the fishing line and just package it in lengths and diameters suitable for each string. As far as I know there's only one company (Aquila, still very popular) that make strings specifically for ukulele.
😈 "come on Karen, you can cheat, nobody will know"
👼"no Karen! we must not cheat!"
🤷🏻♀"just one piece!"
ultimate 😀
Simply Nailological would love this puzzle! Good work K.
This was the ultimate video for holographic puzzles!
You are the ultimate puzzle fanatic, appreciate your dedication and skill with all your videos. Love the night view of the holographic puzzle and I’m sure you are right as I can’t imagine anyone collecting all of these in one place. It’s like you introduced them to each other. I can’t wait for your interactive puzzle museum where you pay to play and get to enjoy puzzle solving along with you and your times and commentary.
I am a really big fan of puzzles but i lost motivation and when i found your channel i just got that spark of motivation back. I decided to try and find your meta puzzle with ravensburger at a barnes & noble and i found the last one in stock. just to sum up my experience it was nothing short of amazing.
The disco at @20:40 is everything.
its pretty cool that your super rare puzzle might also be a misprint- making it way more rare if that line in it isnt on all of them!
Loved the video and editing. The beginning was like the start to the wizard of oz. Black and white and then after completely it we were transported like Dorothy to OZ full of color and happiness. If you planned this bravo 👏
The shots "in the dark" make the puzzle look sooooo beautiful 😍
Puzzles are meant to be opened up and put together, not left languishing in the box just because it is 'rare' or 'unusual'. No point in feeling guilty for opening a 'rare' puzzle. Loved the light show that you put on at the end. I can't say that I have come across a puzzle that is cut in exactly the same way as a different brand. I quite frequently see images that are the same but have a different name and sometimes tweaked for the US market.
I truly love all the "No going back now" moments that Karen has brought to us in this videos. 😁
Your video's are my comfort content ☺️
That was actually one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. I thought that before you said it. Ultimately, puzzles are my hobby so I can’t help you with any insight but I love your channel. I do year-round jigsaw puzzles!!!
I am happy you opened the puzzle! A very interesting puzzle and alot of fun to watch! I loved seeing all of the holographic pieces of the puzzle ❤
Nice video! Funny enough, the three mini puzzle (bigfoot, tennis and cheetah) that you used in your spreadsheet were some puzzle I sold on eBay earlier this year! Had I known you were doing this spreadsheet, I would've sent you better picture of them individually... Keep on the deep dive of obscures vintage puzzles, it's fascinating.
Small world!
Okay videographer Karen 😄. I love it! Look at all that holo sparkle! Rebuilding equals more Ultimate fun 😂.
Loved the lightshow segment, that was really fun to watch. I could watch that all day!
I’d love a list of some of the podcasts’ you listen to. Thanks
@Karenpuzzles I checked my Frustrator, and the cut matches the ULTIMATE puzzle cut.
This was the ultimate puzzle I would put together. Too hard for me. You enjoy it!
18:12 something seems a bit… sus.
Dropping the puzzle was the best...not even being mean. It was so funny and then like "oh yeah! I get to do it again....just a little." 😛
To answer your question, not hobby related, but I used to work for a company that made shampoo and conditioner (a brand you'd heard of), they had various different types (for thin, dry, oily, curly etc) and the shampoos were different for each, but for the range of about 7 or 8 types, they only had 2 different conditioner formulas that were just labelled up differently.
And I also used to work for a company that made toilet paper. They produced it for supermarket brands and "discount" shop brands. The thing is that they only had one paper machine so each ply was actually the same (therefore strength and structural integrity where also the same), it's was just how tightly the roll was rolled was different (and the pattern).
Ok I'm not surprised about the conditioner, but that's so interesting about the toilet paper!
@@KarenPuzzlesYep, I wasn't surprised about the conditioners (but it was nice to have my suspicions confirmed). But I don't think I'd ever really thought about toilet roll until I worked there (also I could bore everyone to death talking about toilet roll, it's actually quite interesting)
@@KarenPuzzlesalso, thank you for making such great and entertaining videos week after week! Watching your channel has really got me back into doing jigsaws again, and I love it!
I ❤ that you have ULTIMATE joy as you lovingly run your hands over a finished puzzle! And I learn so much from your detective work into puzzle company variants. THX!
It was the ultimate pleasure watching you solve this. I wish there were more available; my husband would love this.
Ultimately, I'm so glad you opened it!
Ultimate surprise! Lol so cute. I love how much detail you know. Its awesome.
Really like seeing you do the ultimate puzzle. It's so pretty in the dark. The Silver Optik one is pretty easy as it has a pattern of concentric squares and doesn't look like the others on worth point. I don't know how many different patterns of those were made.
Oh interesting, I hope I can track down the other patterns one day.
20:45 that psychedelic disco party was super fun!
Stan Lee: "Oh, a sailboat."
18:27 what a SUSpicious shot 😂
This is the ultimate party puzzle. So beautiful under the spotlight!
Loved the little Tom Scott Shout out he gave in one of his last videos. Awesome vids as always Karen!
How would they get a reverse puzzle-cut? I'm guessing the 'knives' are double-edged?
I would love to see a video of you visiting a puzzle plant somewhere so we can be more informed about how they're made!
Hello so happy for you getting jigsaw puzzles to add to your collection. Ultimate just love your enthusiasm.
You know, I kinda wish one of these holographic puzzles was like, an actual genuine hologram of a thing.
I understand that would be thousands and thousands of dollars but I mean, someone would buy it
Happy Sunday, Karen! 😊✌️💚
Karen, your music choices for this video were fabulous! ❤
The Ultimate knitting needles are Chiago, with none compares. However, I found Kathy Bates needles and generic Looms needles to be pretty identical. I like my wooden squared needles, made of that rainbow looking wood, and tiny, for lace work. I keep them in a special tin all their own.
Thanks for making the ultimate holographic puzzle video! While they might not be useful as actual mirrors, I'd be interested to know how reflective they are when they're flat. Like, if you shined parallel light from a directional light source onto them, could you guide the light between multiple of them, like with lasers and mirrors?
Yes, there is an accidental similarity in my hobby. I speedrun point'n'click adventures, which last between 5 minutes and an entire hour usually. Except for Myst which takes 40-50 seconds for an accidental gamedesign reason. They rereleased the game in many iterations, but in RealMyst Masterpiece, the run also takes 40-50 seconds, but for a completely different reason.
I came for holo and I got so much holo. Awesome video.
I just watched your last video this morning and was super excited to see this one when it came out, didn't realize it would be today! Yay, can't wait!
Perfect timing!
i love how i hadn't done a puzzle for 10 years and now i've been watching your videos for a while, ordered puzzles and did 5 500 piece puzzles these past 2-3 weeks xD
I knit and crochet. There's a brand that makes sets of interchangeable knitting needles called "knitters pride", and they make the interchangeable sets for several other brands as well, some quite fancy and expensive. When they do, it's the same interchangeable hardware, so you can use your knitters pride cords and keys on the other brands needles or vice versa. I found out that they also use the same hardware on their tunesian crochet hooks, so I was able to buy a couple to try them out without having to but a whole new set of cords and hardware.
that really IS the ultimate puzzle...even ultimately hard to pick up.
It was ultimately beautiful. I love to try the crazy cut than the standart one. Good job karen.
So glad you completed it on your own. It was the ULTIMATE experience! ❤
Random piece cuts are always more interesting. I always go back to that awful ketchup puzzle you did as a reason that this would be much more of a fun challenge
One of these days, she's going to need to just mix up all her puzzle pieces into one giant totes, mix it up, then do them all at once.
I'm a dressmaker, & I was told some years ago that Pfaff & Husqvarna sewing machines are exactly the same machine, on each level (with their own outer shells), but Pfaff is more expensive! The same parent company, SVP Worldwide, now also owns Singer, but I don't know if those machines have had their mechanics/electronics altered to be in line with the other two brands.
I’ve never even heard of those. This is the kind of insider knowledge I’m after 👏🏻
Those close-ups and glamour shots, you do spoil us, very nice! I'm at the point where you just finished, let's see if the camera can capture the secret of this amazing and rare puzzle!
The disco, wow 🌈
21:21 ow no!
You mentioned knitting needles in your question. It is not really a secret but the Knit Picks, Knit Pro, Knitters Pride needle tips for the interchangeable needles are all the same kind of connector so you can use the cables from one on the tips from another. The different compositions of the needles and the cables also seem to be available across all 3 brands, and the manufacturer seems to be the same with just different branding. However there is another brand, Lykke, which apparently uses the same kind of connector so it is possible to use their needle tips with the other brands' cables.
Interesting! I know nothing about knitting, so I'm glad I was somewhat accurate.
