Very fun videos.
You're too cute with honest enjoyment.
Thanks Till next time. Kathy E
Where do I buy the puzzle, How much is it
"Okay, let's first sort out all the edge pieces."
(Two seconds later) "Okay, that part's done..."
It would be really funny to challenge someone to do this puzzle but not tell them it's an edge only puzzle 🤣
How long do you think it would take them to figure it out?
I mean, it shouldn't take more than a minute or two to figure out that that's the gimmick
Unless you convince them it’s an absolutely MASSIVE puzzle I think they’d figure out the gimmick in a few seconds
and mix in some regulat pieces from another huge puzzle
Oof, that's diabolical 😂
The Edge - I love these videos! I also think it's so cool when you swap sections of puzzles with the same cut.
As a pun aficionado, I think I would enjoy a puzzle by The Edge that featured a collage of images of Irish musician The Edge. I’m not a big U2 fan or anything, I just appreciate people who see an obvious joke and put way too much time and energy into bringing it into the world for us to giggle and groan at. 😆 (See also: a P4A puzzle with no edges, and an image of Hank Green’s galaxy brain moment: “NO EDGE!!!!!!!”)
Or the Moody Blues ?
I absolutely love the cupcake kitty image!!! It's so cute 😍😍
Great. More puzzles I must purchase 😆
How do they determine the level of difficulty? Is it a person who tries the puzzle and sees how long it takes?
I think it's all just marketing haha
I want to get my grandma the Mona Lisa puzzle. I think she’d really enjoy it.
All I could think was omg she doesn’t like cat fur puzzles though! 😂
I love that your shirt matched the cat puzzle 😂💕
I always like to match my puzzles 😆
"Dude, No Edge" Hank Green.
Where can I buy it?
TU for the incredible part 2 World Competition‼️Loved it 💖 checking out the San Diego link now. 🧩
The Edge
My only hesitation would be knocking pieces around a lot until they were connected. If it was an image that I really liked, I would definitely give one a go. 💜🧩
If you ask me, then all the corners are edges, but not all the edges are corners. 😄
But they could have changed up the pattern so it was a little less regular and added false corners, I think it would have made it a little more challenging.
Went to the comments to find this...corner pieces are to edge pieces as squares are to rectangles!
@@keladry12 this^
If you look at the patent figures (one and two) from the video, it looks like they have some corner pieces. So there might be a version out there (unless they were just iterations before the final product)!
Difficulty level: EXTREMER
Exactly! I was wondering if there would be many corner pieces! Now that would be tricky!
One thing that I appreciate is that the sections are easy to move around (or at least it looks like it on the video). It's not easy to do that with only edge pieces, some companies can't even do that with normal pieces!!
Yes, they held together surprisingly well!
YES ONE OF ME
I STILL HAVENT TAKEN THE PFP OFF
I'm just lazy to do it HAHAAHHAHAHA
@@mariaj7322 where is the pfp ever from
I am not a lawyer, but cursory research suggests that the patent has expired and other companies could take the idea and run with it. They probably couldn't call it The Edge, since that would fall under copyright or trademark which lasts longer.
Having said that, I like how the puzzle is designed to stick together even though it has "edge" pieces. Karen was even moving sections of the puzzle around without problem.
I love that you mix up the puzzles at the end to make new art pieces. I always think the mix ups look really cool.
I also never paid attention to how puzzle pictures have changed over time until you mentioned it. How those random crazy animal prints were an early 2000s thing while the trend for puzzles made today is gradients and like that modern, corporate art style. When I think of puzzles I think of those really simple ones that's like a photo of 2 puppies, but those are really old. It would be cool to see like a video of puzzle trends throughout history, showing how the type of picture on the puzzle has changed.
Psh, these puzzles are easy. All you have to do is separate out the edge pieces and- uh, and... and then you...
Usually when I think about the difficulty level I see 2 perspectives: mine, a skilled puzzler, and the other, which is the person that rarely does puzzles. These "extreme" puzzles are usually meant to be difficult for the non-skilled puzzlers, not us lol.
It was interesting to watch you do it because you always start by sorting the edge and this time it wasn't really a possibility 😂 but I love how smart they were while designing it, I was afraid it would be like the spilt milk puzzle where the pattern was random and it didn't lock together. Glad it wasn't the case!!
What do you think of these puzzles with only edge pieces? Would you want to try one out? Thank you to everyone for watching and subscribing!
You have such a big brain lol
You are awesome
I would love to try one. They seem really fun to do.
Of course I would try one out!!! Look how beautiful and challenging it is!! I especially love the Mona Lisa and seeing it in many different art styles
I would definitely be up to the challenge but not the one you just did. Although I’m a cat mama but Just because you’ve done it already. 😃
Edit: I thought you only did the cat one. Anyway I don’t think it’s fun puzzling the same as you and others already solved on RUclips. The Mona Lisa looks fun puzzling.
this is a very cute puzzle but also there’s something so… unsettling about the way that cat is standing 😭 my sleep paralysis demon
I know, right? It's a little creepy 😆
This type of pet image was made a lot in the early 2000's. I saw it on stickers and elementary school valentine's and stuff. I don't know if anyone liked them or if companies made it up, and consumers didn't take care what designs they bought for kids. I always thought they looked unsettling, even as a child.
I think my strategy would be to sort the edge pieces from: edgy, edgier, edgiest and corner.
Your last video was randomly recommended to me about six days ago and I went down a rabbit hole just watching your videos for about three days and I keep coming back. It's so calming and interesting.
I have to thank you, because of finding your channel I finally completed a 1,000 piece puzzle that's been on my dining room table for about 13 months. I had about a third of it left that I finished in about 4-5 days. And now I'm in a puzzling mood. I put together this 300 piece puzzle that I used to be able to in about an hour as a kid to see if I still had it (I do). And now I'm revisiting an 800 piece puzzle that I got for Christmas while I wait for my two new 500 piece puzzles to arrive. I've found that I love starting my day off drinking my morning coffee and smoothy while working on a puzzle. It's a nice, calm start of the day.
My brain kept going "Uh! An edge piece!" At every piece you picked up...
Same 😅
Corners are edges too. Just because they have two edges does not make them less edgy.
“Why do I do this” 😁 … because you like to live on the “edge”. But it so cheers us up, Dr Puzzles. 🖖🏼
I've always considered corner pieces to be edge pieces because they are part of the edge.......
According to the RUclips transcript, you said "edge" 24 times "edges" 7 times. You said "the edge" 5 times and "the edges" 7 times.
I have to say, I'm COMPLETELY surprised that the Mona Lisa puzzle went more quickly. After you flipped them all over, it looked like complete chaos! But have no fear... Karen is HERE... and you crushed it! Amazing!
the heterogeneity of the image makes it fairly easy
Edge -
Have you seen the video over on the “Stuff Made Here” channel?
Jigzila, a puzzle solving robot.
He gives it an all white puzzle to solve!!!
Anyway, I’m sure that you have been told about this about a million times, but hey, I just wanted to be the million and 1th person to let you know.
I came to warn her about the robot too, it uses AI so it may view Karen as a threat and send a terminator back in time to terminate her mom.🤣
"There we go, the very last edge piece!" Okay, now do the insides! Oh, wait...
Karen is not kidding about having done a lot of stuff on RUclips.
She is like one of the RUclips OG.
I remember seeing her around in the nerdfighter side of RUclips in like 2008-ish era.
Yup, I started my first channel in early 2008. It’s been a long journey since then 😅
I remember Karen DIY 😂
Yay, DFTBA! 😂
What is an edge piece? A piece with a flat side or a piece that goes in the edge of the solved picture??
These are the real questions we need to be asking in this world
I'm with you about animal photos on puzzles being gross. I feel the same about photos of people as well. No close ups on flesh thank you. I prefer an illustration any day!
I'm confused, what about animals on puzzles is gross? Do you have the same reaction to seeing animals in real life? I mean no judgment or hate on this I'm just curious
I just hate 1,000 pictures of all the same texture. I just did a cat puzzle to challenge myself. Torture! 😂
Idk how I got here but I'm glad it happened. This girl freaking loves puzzles and just never stops smiling while she does them. She's great, her puzzles are great, and this is some very wholesome content 👍
3:40
.... but aren't corners also on the edge, though? The same way all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares?
Interesting point. I think this would hold up better if there were false corners on the inside of the puzzle too though!
Those 2 partially joined pieces of the cat puzzle reminded me of a old Springbok I thrifted, where two of the edge pieces weren't fully cut through at all, so they were one conjoined piece. Pretty fun to see.
That feeling when you finish a puzzle will never get old for me
Totally agree just felt this last Friday. This motivates us to do more.
I love when you find easy puzzles; because they would end up being difficult for me. I may need to know what you find to be really easy to find the best fit for me! Either way, I love watching you do puzzles.
The second she opened the box I was thinking, this is going to be a piece of cake for her!
The edge! That was so much easier than I thought it would be or maybe Karen is just that good as a puzzler!
Congratulations, Karen, for posting the _edgiest_ RUclips video of 2022! 😃
I feel like the "extreme" difficulty is only for people who don't know the secret strategy of sorting pieces... Like, many people would probably have done The Edge last on the cat picture anyway, since there's so little information from the visuals.
The Mona Lisa picture you did looked like a really satisfying strategy to use! Makes me want to try out a many small images type of puzzle like that.
Well, a corner can only be on the edge . . .
EXTREME is how the US Forest Service describes the fire danger in my local mountains. I don't think these edge puzzles are that.
Also, that Norwegian girl's head might explode if she tried this.
I like watching the dance of the unknown pieces beside the puzzle as you reorganise.
I was so relieved when Karen didn't mix the 2 puzzles together 😂
.... but corner pieces are edge pieces, in fact they are just edge pieces with two edges. They are the ultimate edge. The edge to rule them all
So if you really want to challenge yourself, have your sister put together a thousand piece puzzle and then take off the border pieces. You would then have to put the puzzle together without any edge at all. Your sister could pick the puzzle. Ooh, she could be as cruel as she wanted... Lol. Love you Karen! 😁❤️
Puzzle-designers are coming up with some really edgy ideas these days.
The number of Animal Content one likes on the Internet is inversely proportional to Karen enjoying sorting out ‘fur pieces’ while puzzling.
I would describe myself as an intermediate level puzzler and I think I would find these fairly challenging. You might say they might even take me... over The Edge.
Karen! You need to collab with Stuff Made Here! He made a jigsaw puzzle robot in his most recent video, and we need to see the puzzle queen vs the puzzle robot!
They need to make one of these that's a picture of Edge from U2, just to further the edgeness
Girl, you didn't lie to us. Corner pieces ARE edge pieces. They're double edges!
I agree with Karen: It’s not the day for mixing up puzzles. Some of us might have a heart attack.
No need to apologize they lied to us and thank you for the PSA! Such a fun video as always and I would love to try one
I would love to try it out! I definitely consider corner pieces edge pieces as well.
Stumbled on your content and I adore it! I’ve never been much into puzzle but you’re delightful to watch. I’ve been quite sick with Covid and I d been binging your videos and it’s cheering me up haha, so thank you!!
There's an important difference between lying and just being wrong. Here, you were simply acting on bad information you genuinely believed, so you were wrong not lying
Oh my! I don’t even know how to begin to solve a puzzle like that. So excited to see you tackle it!
Now we need a all corner puzzle to complete the trio
I have some round jigsaws
Karen is awesome. She is not afraid to show everyone what her passion is. It's great. You might think you are the only one who likes a certain thing. You are not. Let people know what makes you smile, and you will find your people.
Hmmm, if it was released in the early 2000's then the patent's 20 year term should be expiring soon if it isn't already expired.... so pretty much any puzzle company could pick up the idea and run with it.
This would have been the perfect opportunity to do a puzzle Kristin Thuv style. If only you had stuck to one handed puzzling...
I have done a puzzle of an edge only puzzle with zebras on it. I can't remember the manufacturer though. They had corners in the middle.
I know this video is a year old but Karen... my question is... Can you do the pick up challenge with these puzzles?
„why do i do this😭“
karen in every video 😅
So many lies in this! 😭😝
No haven't tried it, yes I would (For once, most of your other puzzles are way too hard for a filthy casual like myself) And utterly fascinating thing about how you extract information out of pieces.
The Edge and that Tron Legacy bit Derezzed me. 😉
Technically, the corners are on ‘the edge’ of the puzzle so… still edge pieces? I agree that a puzzle should be fun first :)
Random observations:
- "And then Daft Punk starts playing" should be a phrase in MUCH more common usage.
- Of COURSE corner pieces are edge pieces. Doubly so, in fact. That's how they got to be corner pieces. But imagine a puzzle with a diamond shape, such that the pieces along its diagonal edges each have two flat sides and the pieces at the diamond's corners each have THREE flat sides. Ask yourself this: what counts as a corner piece there?
- Stolen from Twitter: "You paid for the whole puzzle, but you'll only need THE EDGE!"
My bestie is a puzzle fiend, and I think she would be on the edge of her seat for a gimmick like this, but not overly frustrated to the point where it became unfun... to ebay!!
I had a similar issue with the puzzle pieces moving, as the two edge pieces together, when I did a 1500 puzzle with some unique cuts, they moved around a lot when I didn't have a piece connecting them together permanently.
Super cool, never seen anything like this...good luck Karen and congrats on 180K👍
3:50 Corner pieces are a subset of edge pieces! No lie. Really good critique and analysis at the end.
Finally, a puzzle that can unite the two factions of edge-first and edge-last.
From the box layout I thought this was from the eighties or maybe the nineties 😂 this was a fun puzzling video! The edge idea was unique enough to still make it really interesting!
The Edge. A puzzling frontier 😆 I love the concept of these puzzles! Never hear of them before and now I want to try, but I wish the images weren’t so random 😄
Personally, I'm a bit on edge about those corner pieces. 😁
Corners are on edges? Do a team event again where your team passes you all the edge pieces but no corners, I'm sure you'd have objection to it.
Corner pieces? I think you mean double-edge pieces. 🙃
So much fun, as always. Thanks for taking us to The Edge!
Isn't a corner piece just a special type of edge piece?
I don't know if you heard of the Wasgij Mystery Puzzles. The concept is based on the theme of the puzzle artwork on the box who represents what the characters are looking at. You must therefore use your imagination and rely on the clues in the artwork to reconstruct the image. i had one little and it took me days ahah. Love your videos btw! :))
A response video to Stuff Made Here's puzzle solving machine would be amazing.
Think you shouldve made a 10 minute apology vid (with a crying thumbnail) for lying to us lol
Thanks Karen. I’m ill and it was nice to have a video to watch that was straightforward and easy.
I just came from tiktok!
I'm so happy you came over!
The cat looks a little like a younger version of my cat Justice, so I might be biased…it’s super cute! I might try the Mona Lisa one, maybe, but I’m not that great at puzzles. I agree that the company making The Edge puzzles could do a lot more, but those puzzles might quickly get too hard for me.
I think the corner pieces are a subset of the edge pieces, so they (and you) were not really wrong.
I'm thinking Kristin from the puzzle championships would enjoy this - she does the edges last anyway!
4:41 This looks like one of those color blindness simulating images which show you what Protanopia looks like
Isn’t a corner an edge??
Imagine a corner only puzzle! 😂😂😂
1:32 That is some absurdly technical language there. The inventor uses the phrase "a plurality of" but I think they mean "some".
The Edge! I enjoyed the video as always but I have to disagree with your statement that the company misrepresented the puzzle. All corner pieces are edge pieces (though not all edge pieces are corner pieces.) Thanks for the fun videos!
The fur isn't all that gross. Just keep thinking "It's a cute kitty. It's a cute kitty." :-)
