As a pun aficionado, I think I would enjoy a puzzle by The Edge that featured a collage of images of Irish musician The Edge. I’m not a big U2 fan or anything, I just appreciate people who see an obvious joke and put way too much time and energy into bringing it into the world for us to giggle and groan at. 😆 (See also: a P4A puzzle with no edges, and an image of Hank Green’s galaxy brain moment: “NO EDGE!!!!!!!”)

If you ask me, then all the corners are edges, but not all the edges are corners. 😄
But they could have changed up the pattern so it was a little less regular and added false corners, I think it would have made it a little more challenging.

I am not a lawyer, but cursory research suggests that the patent has expired and other companies could take the idea and run with it. They probably couldn't call it The Edge, since that would fall under copyright or trademark which lasts longer.
Having said that, I like how the puzzle is designed to stick together even though it has "edge" pieces. Karen was even moving sections of the puzzle around without problem.

I love that you mix up the puzzles at the end to make new art pieces. I always think the mix ups look really cool.
I also never paid attention to how puzzle pictures have changed over time until you mentioned it. How those random crazy animal prints were an early 2000s thing while the trend for puzzles made today is gradients and like that modern, corporate art style. When I think of puzzles I think of those really simple ones that's like a photo of 2 puppies, but those are really old. It would be cool to see like a video of puzzle trends throughout history, showing how the type of picture on the puzzle has changed.

Usually when I think about the difficulty level I see 2 perspectives: mine, a skilled puzzler, and the other, which is the person that rarely does puzzles. These "extreme" puzzles are usually meant to be difficult for the non-skilled puzzlers, not us lol.
It was interesting to watch you do it because you always start by sorting the edge and this time it wasn't really a possibility 😂 but I love how smart they were while designing it, I was afraid it would be like the spilt milk puzzle where the pattern was random and it didn't lock together. Glad it wasn't the case!!

This type of pet image was made a lot in the early 2000's. I saw it on stickers and elementary school valentine's and stuff. I don't know if anyone liked them or if companies made it up, and consumers didn't take care what designs they bought for kids. I always thought they looked unsettling, even as a child.

Your last video was randomly recommended to me about six days ago and I went down a rabbit hole just watching your videos for about three days and I keep coming back. It's so calming and interesting.
I have to thank you, because of finding your channel I finally completed a 1,000 piece puzzle that's been on my dining room table for about 13 months. I had about a third of it left that I finished in about 4-5 days. And now I'm in a puzzling mood. I put together this 300 piece puzzle that I used to be able to in about an hour as a kid to see if I still had it (I do). And now I'm revisiting an 800 piece puzzle that I got for Christmas while I wait for my two new 500 piece puzzles to arrive. I've found that I love starting my day off drinking my morning coffee and smoothy while working on a puzzle. It's a nice, calm start of the day.

    Random observations:
    - "And then Daft Punk starts playing" should be a phrase in MUCH more common usage.
    - Of COURSE corner pieces are edge pieces. Doubly so, in fact. That's how they got to be corner pieces. But imagine a puzzle with a diamond shape, such that the pieces along its diagonal edges each have two flat sides and the pieces at the diamond's corners each have THREE flat sides. Ask yourself this: what counts as a corner piece there?
    - Stolen from Twitter: "You paid for the whole puzzle, but you'll only need THE EDGE!"

My bestie is a puzzle fiend, and I think she would be on the edge of her seat for a gimmick like this, but not overly frustrated to the point where it became unfun... to ebay!!

I had a similar issue with the puzzle pieces moving, as the two edge pieces together, when I did a 1500 puzzle with some unique cuts, they moved around a lot when I didn't have a piece connecting them together permanently.

3:50 Corner pieces are a subset of edge pieces! No lie. Really good critique and analysis at the end.

Finally, a puzzle that can unite the two factions of edge-first and edge-last.

From the box layout I thought this was from the eighties or maybe the nineties 😂 this was a fun puzzling video! The edge idea was unique enough to still make it really interesting!

The Edge. A puzzling frontier 😆 I love the concept of these puzzles! Never hear of them before and now I want to try, but I wish the images weren’t so random 😄

Personally, I'm a bit on edge about those corner pieces. 😁

Corners are on edges? Do a team event again where your team passes you all the edge pieces but no corners, I'm sure you'd have objection to it.

Corner pieces? I think you mean double-edge pieces. 🙃

Isn't a corner piece just a special type of edge piece?

I don't know if you heard of the Wasgij Mystery Puzzles. The concept is based on the theme of the puzzle artwork on the box who represents what the characters are looking at. You must therefore use your imagination and rely on the clues in the artwork to reconstruct the image. i had one little and it took me days ahah. Love your videos btw! :))

The cat looks a little like a younger version of my cat Justice, so I might be biased…it’s super cute! I might try the Mona Lisa one, maybe, but I’m not that great at puzzles. I agree that the company making The Edge puzzles could do a lot more, but those puzzles might quickly get too hard for me.

I think the corner pieces are a subset of the edge pieces, so they (and you) were not really wrong.

1:32 That is some absurdly technical language there. The inventor uses the phrase "a plurality of" but I think they mean "some".

The Edge! I enjoyed the video as always but I have to disagree with your statement that the company misrepresented the puzzle. All corner pieces are edge pieces (though not all edge pieces are corner pieces.) Thanks for the fun videos!
