Do you think you could solve this Escape Room puzzle? Don't forget that today and tomorrow are the last days of the Black Friday on my merch! Spend at least $75 on DFTBA and get FREE worldwide shipping. Happy holidays!
BASEMENT! I def would not have been able to solve this one. I remember doing a CS: Las Vegas mystery puzzle when i was about 12 and I could barely do that. This one was pretty advanced and clever. Great video as always.
Maybe if you hadn’t indulged in repeating over and over again how bad you are at this kind of puzzle, it would have been easier! If you notice, you basically had a lot of those answers, but your confidence needed a little boost out of the basement.
Hey Karen, these puzzles are usually pretty bad unfortunately. The basement is one of the better ones. Very illogical and some of them even had other/wrong solutions in the envelope than the internet had. I recommend the EXIT escape room games with puzzles (lighthouse and temple)
I 100% would have given up. I am an instant gratification puzzler lol. I love that you are a part of DFBA and will be directing my boyfriend to this site for my birthday coming up!
@@imbwildrd3693 I understand, I meant that they were distracting me from what she was saying. I had to minimize the video portion so that I could just listen.
An idea for puzzle lovers who enjoy working with another person on one puzzle: After completing a puzzle the first time alone, I divide it in half from top to bottom and put the pieces from each half in 2 separate ziploc bags. Then next time I do this puzzle, I can work it enjoying someone's company without having to share the same pieces to complete my "half" of the puzzle!
Such a good idea! I also sometimes struggle with having a huge puzzle taking up space for days. So I could just divide the pieces to work on different sections without completely taking up the entire table :)
My family did the basement puzzle recently, we read the story but not the instructions on how the puzzle is solved. We were going crazy, coming up with cyphers and connections that didn’t exist. Then one of us read the instructions and realized that we were overthinking it to the extreme lol
When I was younger my mum, my aunt and me puzzled every Tuesday since my aunt came over every Tuesday as long as I can remember. My aunt was my mother's twin and she was always there when my my mother was away traveling for work. So my aunt was basically my second mother for me. She passed away when I was 10 and me and my mother stopped puzzling all together. Now, 8 years later we picked it up again and now spend every Sunday puzzling together! I just discovered your channel like a few days ago but I am absolutely love it!
Yeeeess! I spent 3 hours trying to solve these puzzles and failed miserably. They don’t give any hints or suggestions to lead you in the right direction. They just say solve 7 puzzles goodluck.
I've done so many jigsaw puzzles in my childhood and then I haven't done it for almost 10 years. You've returned the joy of puzzles to me by your videos, they're really helping me with my anxiety and depression. You're the cutest and the most amazing person I've ever seen. Thank you!

I found one of these 759 escape puzzles at a thrift store and thought it would be a normal puzzle, but when I tried doing it, it drove me crazy because so many pieces fit together.... I had such a hard time getting past that, I just put it away and sold it. Hehe. It was on another level than where I wanted to be. :)

That sort of thing is so hard to solve on your own. It’s the kind of puzzle where you need a few helpers to discuss what to do next and pool your resources and ideas. I thought you did very well. I’d still be stuck in the basement with the rats if it were me!

I think I would be stuck in the basement for the rest of my life if I tried to solve this puzzle. It was fun watching you solve it, Karen. I ordered your two shirts a month ago and am still waiting for them to arrive. Can't wait:)
Basement! I do escape rooms all the time but am definitely the most useless one on my usual team, lol. I look around frantically being like, “did we use this already???”and my team is like, “YES.” Lol. 🤣
When Karen jokes about solving the problem with a phone and reddit, then laughs, I smiled... When she then pauses and explicitly states that was not in the flavor text with the puzzle, I do what can only be described as guffaw
I was SO excited to see that you did this basement puzzle!! I did the Witch one from this series and LOATHED it. It was super gratifying to see someone else go through the same process of "ok, what?? Wait, hmm.. what?!? I guess that is what that was then. No idea how I would have gotten there without the hint. Huh, whatever." You were far more patient than I was before ripping open the envelope, Karen. I can't imagine ever wanting to tackle another one of these dark and crazy things.
You are a good sport. We had bought one of these Ravensburger Escape Room puzzles and did not enjoy solving the number puzzles. Even with the online clues they did not make sense. We read reviews and others were equally frustrated and disappointed. It was the first puzzle in a long time that we didn’t feel good about passing along to friends and family. Its probably still in storage in the basement.
Also they all have the same trick with the side pieces. It is a clever trick but makes other versions so boring. First one is pretty impossible to solve. Make more and it is just boring. Both not that much fun.
I love these puzzles so much. My partner and I do them together over the course of a few evenings. The first time was really confusing, Ravensburger could really be more specific and explain how to use the edge pieces. Before we do the puzzles, we try to guess which parts are going to be different. We are only sometimes correct :-)
After watching your videos for the last few months I finally got the confidence to buy AND COMPLETE my first 1000 piece puzzle 😍 It was the Hades Disney Villainous puzzle and I seriously can’t recommend it enough!! 🧩💙
It was so hard to figure out what they wanted me to do, where I'm supposed to start, what they wanted from me. Really needed the hints to get me on my way. But its fun to also see you struggle to find out what you need to do. But why were those rectangles pieces for???
I put this puzzle on and off over 3 days and thought the different picture was the puzzle. Doh, have never done an escape room puzzle, so now I know what needs to happen. Thanks Karen.
I am officially hooked on your channel.. When I was young I didnt like so much to do puzzles.. I just did 2 of my childhood puzzles with my mother. Cant wait for my new puzzles to arrive and my sister and nice to come home for xmas!
I was making an escape puzzle, heavily frustrated opened RUclips and saw this video recommended to me. I've watched 48 seconds of your video and to hear you saying: I'm só confused, I don't know what to do - gave me enough encouragement and I just solved mine! In like 13 hours or so... I loved it (afterwards), I made the space observatory. And now I see you making your escape puzzle, making the same mistakes as I did :) thank you for uploading ♡

I really like your videos 😊 I got another Exit Puzzle a few years ago, but it was so frustrating because of the pieces at the edge which semmed to fit perfectly, but still didn't really match. Now, after I watched this video I was sure I could do it and after 3 days of working on the puzzle (about 2-4h a day) I finally finished it and solved the mystery (I also had a little help from my sister and my mother) 😄 Thank you for your videos, keep inspiring the people to do puzzles, even if it seems inpossible at the first moment 👍
We did the observatory today before seeing your video. For us the jigsaw part was super difficult (very dark picture for our light sources dont work very well) but the escape part came quite easily.
I just did this basement puzzle. It’s the 3rd escape puzzle and they certainly get easier as you do them. I take photos and videos of the completed puzzle to solve with friends on a group video chat, so the teamwork like you’d have in a real escape room really helps! Good luck with your next one!
OMG I could never figure that out! I'm the same way with escape rooms, I hate that you never know what you're looking for or what to do with the numbers you find. I'm always completely useless! Next time I will be the finder like you!
I figure it is too late but, a password to a previous puzzle was “puzzle pieces”. You have some great ideas for puzzle assembly. I don’t have $75 now but, hope you will consider me in future puzzle give-away drawings😊👍
I would never do a lot of the puzzles you highlight in a basement, but it’s always entertaining watching you do them. I just love your personality and sense of humor 😁
In the early 80s, I did a puzzle called “Decipher.” It had a $100,000 prize for the first to be able to decipher it. It was a puzzle of numbers, then the numbers had to be deciphered. I called many of the worlds cipher experts [code breakers] to help me solve it. I got the first part of the answer, “Congratulations,” but was unable to complete it before someone else at MIT using computers was able to decipher it first. Though I didn’t win, I learned a lot, which is just another way to win. Oh yeah, I was living in a “basement” apartment at the time…
Just here to say that you are one of those youtubers I regret not having known about before. You're so sweet and your videos are so well edited and relaxing. I'm addicted, in the best way possible!
I’m binge watching your channel and I can’t stop, I love it here ! Seeing your process before starting a puzzle makes me want to break out my 1000 puzzle I bought at the beginning of quarantine. I did everything right like separating the edge and sorting by color but I just failed to finish because it was so hard.
I‘m so glad the youtube algorithm has brought me here. Love your videos and your bubbly personality, as well as your enthusiasm for puzzles! Great videos, keep up the great work. Greetings from Switzerland :)
Basement! It's so much fun watching you do this puzzle! This was the 4th escape puzzle my boyfriend and I did this summer. We got stuck on the ties. We got like two or three possible numbers from them, but just not in the correct sequence. We didn't look at the hints, so we thought maybe there was a design problem. LOL. [Spoiler!] And, yeah... we always do the borders last now since we found out they can pretty much all go together when we did our first escape puzzle (The Observatory) . :)
LOL I literally would have done the exact same things you did. Try and try then say I'm stuck, get some hints, then go "wtf! I did that already!" for some parts where I practically did it but still missed the answer somehow. 😆
I loved watching you do this!! I can't wait to try one. Even though I am just like you... I find the hints and let someone else puzzle out what they mean...lol. Still looks like a lot of fun!
We bought this puzzle as a family Christmas present last year. It was a lot of fun to do! We had to use some hints as well, as we kept over complicating the puzzles. When we finished, we resealed the answer, and passed it on to my aunt and uncle!
Thanks for going through that escape puzzle. I have the artist puzzle and wanted to get an idea how to solve it. I feel like you going through that has helped me so much! Thanks!
We finished putting together the Ravensburger "The Observatory" puzzle yesterday. Today, we spent some time trying to find the solution to the Escape Room aspect of it. Like you, it was virtually impossible to solve without the hints. I think we only got one of the six pieces ourselves without delving. The clues are definitely too arcane for normal humans to figure out! I could figure out what the actual solution would be before I finished the puzzle itself, but definitely not how to get there!
When I saw which puzzle you were going to review, I stopped the video, ordered the puzzle and did it myself first to see if I could do it. Well... I couldn't, but I still enjoyed it. I solved three of the seven puzzles myself, two of them I needed at least 3 hints. After that, I also was a bit confused about the pieces I got (the image was a little unclear to me) and only after opening the envelope I understood what had happened. All in all, I did like the puzzle (edges were a bit tricky indeed; after finishing the entire puzzle, I was still doubting some of the edge pieces) and I like the concept, but it's hard to know what you're looking for when you don't know what the outcome should be (in an escape room, it's usually "find the code" or "find the key". Here, you don't really know what's supposed to happen). Thanks for this suggestion, I didn't know about escape puzzles, and I think I might try another one, now that I know what might happen. If anyone has done any other escape puzzles, please leave a comment without spoilers and whether you would recommend the puzzle or not.
Wow! That was equal parts fun to watch, and very stressful/frustrating!! I love the idea of this kind of puzzle, and the actual basement image with all it's clutter makes a great jigsaw. But I would be terrible at solving the other puzzles! It definitely takes a different kind of brain to work out clues like that, as opposed to doing a jigsaw. Well done for persevering!
Good job not shutting down… I have a RB puzzle (which is y I am watching g this video) I opened the envelope as I’m flying blind. U give me courage to keep going
This looked so tricky! I would've been completely stumped and never would've escaped that basement. You did so well! I would love to see you do another one.

I did everything right like separating the edge and sorting by color but I just failed to finish because it was so hard.
Wow, that was really difficult! Hats off to Ravensburger and to you Karen. You definitely need those hints to see what to look for.
This video was amazingly entertaining! Thank you Karen, I really enjoyed it. I would love for you to do the other one as well!
LOL I literally would have done the exact same things you did. Try and try then say I'm stuck, get some hints, then go "wtf! I did that already!" for some parts where I practically did it but still missed the answer somehow. 😆
This was more entertaining than re-runs of Big Bang Theory. I'm a jigsaw puzzle freak but doubt if I would attempt one of these.
I loved watching you do this!! I can't wait to try one. Even though I am just like you... I find the hints and let someone else puzzle out what they mean...lol. Still looks like a lot of fun!
This looks so cool, I'm going to get one for myself! Thanks for sharing :)
The editing here is top notch! So much work im sure but fabulous.
Aha story time with Karen Puzzles what a way to start a day 😄
Oh this one looks fun!
Oh my gosh .. Great ideal for Christmas gift. Thanks for sharing.
This is so fun, and I'm really enjoying myself watching you escape from this puzzle
I dont do puzzles, but that seems
smart. keeping puzzles VERY secret
by making the box image different.
I was so excited to see you making one of these puzzles 😃🙌 I love your videos! 🥰
Thank you!
We bought this puzzle as a family Christmas present last year. It was a lot of fun to do! We had to use some hints as well, as we kept over complicating the puzzles. When we finished, we resealed the answer, and passed it on to my aunt and uncle!
Longer Karen video's love it.
I just bought a couple of these as gifts. Now I think I'll get one of my own and lock myself in the BASEMENT until I finish it.
I'd be locked in that basement for eternity, even with hints!
Currently working on one of these and knew I had to rewatch your video for some advice.
Love the Karen and Georgia gif during the reading, I always get excited when I see anything with them haha
When you were telling your escape room story, I totally expected a "and then I grabbed a rat!" type twist. Bit disappointed, not gonna lie 😂
I'd been waiting to watch this because I had bought the puzzle! That same warthog piece got me as well!
I bought one of these escape puzzles and gave up immediately because of all the pieces fitting anywhere and dumped it in my basement 🤩
LMAOOO
I dont puzzle myself but i do enjoy watching these videos!!
I was hard laughing at the gifs during story time but when Hilary duff popped up I screamed hahahaha
Ok. I just found your channel and I have to tell you, your gif usage during the story reading was *chef’s kiss* perfection. 💕
