I love these style videos, seems and feels more raw and more immersive. From a viewers stand point I would add a standings thing like in a live broadcast, both real and virtual broadcasts. But have it overlayed onto the video itself, that way we can see your progression through the race but you are still unaware. That way its a true pov style race for you but we can keep track easier. Doesnt even need licensing or irating included, just simply your standings/position and maybe delta to car ahead or to leader

@@skulls2802 very true, I noticed it when I was watching part of it back. Was just tricky to see from a distance. These pov style videos really bring the immersion to the viewer and racer
I enjoy it when you include the crash reel at the end of the race.
I race in VR personally and this is how I actually drive in the sim. No spotter and I keep HUD off. Forces you(me) to be incredibly aware and it just feels raw, I love it. Also helps that "real life" practice.

This is perfect, I'd just add in some voice commands so you can get some on demand info about how you're doing in the race
Good thing I watched this video. I didn't realize that Radicals use different layout in Road America than before. Too bad. I kind a liked the 'kink' that was pretty much flat out.
i looked for comparable lap-times, but seems it's the first time the layout has been used.
@@M1ggins Now that I've driven that layout I must say I very much not like it. It ruined the flow that track had before. Now the new chicange or what not they added breaks it so bad. It's almost like turning some access road while racing.
One thing I like is being able to see your brake and throttle traces so I get a sense of if you're braking hard, braking light, just lifting or what.
I try to learn a bit while watching, so I like seeing your telemetry during the race. But whatever you do, you’ll find me relaxing with your videos with a cool stiff drink and a warm cigar. 😏
The Radicals are my go to car in IRacing. Road American is actually my home track, since I used to live in Wisconsin for like 57 years. I've actually raced there a few times with enduro and shifter karts back in the day. One of the reasons I love the radicals is because they remind me very much or my shifter kart days. :) Oops, almost forgot to mention, I actually got a win last night in the top spit race. Got lucky though, the leader got taken out by a spinning lapped car while I was running second. :P
I'm planning to upgrade to Triples later this year but this video makes me want to do it faster :)

I do like the point of view style. Very immersive since you really pay attention to what's happening. Having no spotter with those terrible mirrors is a harrowing experience!
Having said that, I would like the relative so that we can have a bit of foreshadowing to the story and see how it plays out. But I think that's really the only thing I'd add.

I love "the loop" layout at Road America. It is used quite often by the facility for track events/driver school because of safety. There is a reason they say "respect the kink". Love these videos from you, keep it up!

My absolute favourite car in iracing. Just so alive to drive. Just tried the track car combo…I like the Bend, it’s different and actually makes overtakes easier and reduces complete smash ups. 2:06.1 with no draft is a good start for a lowly 2.6K.
Another great video as usual Dave. The radical SR8 steering wheel has no lcd screen but I’m not sure you have a plain small diameter wheel. Nice race never the less. The radical is the kind of car that rewards smooth pedal dances. You should do one of these at Donnington park. The two are a match made in heaven!

I once heard Jim's voice in my head when I was out in the car going round a roundabout saying "You're in the middle 3 wide" lol.
Radical series videos weekly is something I'd like to see!
The only thing I think that would improve the video is a relative so we can track your performance lap by lap.
Leave the spotter out so that you're purely using your side screens and mirrors when battling. 👌🏼

Love the video. I like to play with a very minimal HUD. No relative timings or lists etc - just a small rev counter, rearview mirror and damage & tyre wear indicators and a spotter. Either a native spotter within a game (if it has one), or Crew Chief, which is my preferred spotter. This style of setup makes things close to what you would have in the real world, with the addition of the damage & tyre information, which I think you really need visible in a game. That's my suggestion for an ideal setup for your videos Dave.

Always enjoy your videos Dave. Since you asked, in real life we would know # of cars and starting position. Also my race car has a clock on the dash so I get an idea how much time is left. As far as for viewer experience, when I watch other racing we always get info scrolling showing everyone's position in the race.

I love the radical, it's about the only car I can drive reasonably well. Gutted I didn't get that last lap showdown against you for the podium earlier today, I was lucky to miss the guy that span on the main straight when he reversed across, you didn't appear to be so lucky.

In the camera settings I move my seat position to the middle and hide the wheel, really helps with the radical, although I am on a Ultrawide and not triples, Looks like your wheel arches may be on your bezel kit if you entered yourself

@ Dave Cam that kink is used normally for motorbike races, it's a bit of a pig to get use to, and on AC there are no cones, just a tyre wall at that kink. great video as usual, and I noticed early in the race that your steering wheel display had lap and position on the top right of the screen.
Hi Dave, I personally just drive with the spotter and crew Chief ... I think its pretty real with just that. I enjoy all your vids though! ;)
I really enjoy the immersiveness (I think I made up a word there) of this but to be honest I like some information also just to follow how things are going.
I guess just do both then make a separate series.
In the end it's your channel so just do what's fun for you and we'll come along for the ride.
I love the POV style videos. However a pedal cam and standings overlay would be nice. I like the pedal cam so I can see where you may have different inputs then me. The standings are just nice for info

you asked so im giving, i prefer to see it as you do, nothing there and no info other than on the wheel, full immersion. I do think the spotter/crewchief is a nice addition though the banter between you and jim is legendary at this point
I wouldn't get off i-racing if I had it, Will at least be on PC platform by summers end, In the meantime I'm going to have to just keep learning what's on ACC and AC, It is what it is....

I think it really depends on what type of rave it is ... a race like this would definitely have a pit crew and crew chief telling you stuff during the race I will assume gt cup will be the same as well as the touring cars...

Hey Dave! Love these style of vids! Want a challenge: Winged Dirt Sprint Car, no UI, no spotter (dirt tracks don't have spotters in real life)!!! Oh and for added difficulty, limit your tear offs to 15 or 20 cause you dont have unlimited irl! 😉👍

@@davecamm your welcome, Ive just got to that stage in life where the kids are doing well, settled with work and more importantly the missus is to busy to have a moan 😆 the stage where I have afew spare pennys to treat myself and recently got into sim racing, Im using a GT omega stand with a g29 -lol but have pre ordered a CSL DD and looking into 3 monitors, now your setup is very impressive with the "gap" between the monitors how do you get rid of the bezel?

Ive tried numerous of "time killers" (without getting told off going to the pub lol) but sim racing has to be the one thats got me,with a Friendly community and its not gonna break the bank (too much) 🙃

The only things I'd add from what you have in this vid is flags, and Crew Chief (but *not* spotter, you can enable/disable them separately in the configs)
For the Hardcore videos, maybe have Jim update you on your position?
Love these POV races! Just a question regarding this car/setup - why wasn’t centered on your screen? Seems you took a center drive car and made it a right hand drive instead.
It's right hand drive I believe
Would be interesting over time whether you are faster/more consistent without all the other distractions.

I would imagine from your point of view it is more realistic. As a viewer I would like to see positions of the other cars with timings. It's always nice to see how much in danger you are from the car behind. As a viewer it makes it more exciting. I can urge you to get a grip ha ha.

I wouldnt mind a relative screen to follow along, fun to watch nonetheless but having a better clue of whats going on would augment the viewer experience in my opinion.

Hi Dave , great video as always, I see you drive one Gomez Wheel and I have a question, I put my new Gomez wheel today on my Fanatec dd1 and my problem is the ffb is really really to low , I put all the settings to the max and no results, always to low , is the wheel to heavy for this base …. ? 🤔 peace ✌️
It will have gone into low torque mode. When you turn your wheelbase on turn the wheel 90 Deg and you will see a bar on the DD1 dash go up. That enables high torque 👍
Big thanks for you speed answer, i do this for take the high tork but the ffb stay low , I mount the fanatec wheel again and the ffb come back …. Strange problem 🧐🧐
I like the concept but think this would be much better as a first-person PoV in VR. It would put the viewer 'in the car' to a greater degree. As it is the GoPro (or whatever you're using) has too short a focal length, making everything seem a bit further away than it should and causing all three monitors to appear barrel-shaped. I find the bezel-hiders a bit distracting too.
Check out Project Sim Racing for some great VR footage (and note how visually awesome AMS2 looks as well). Videos are predominantly first-person in VR, with external cutaways.
You can take the helmet off for the 'top and tail' section of the video to keep it 'personal'.
And I think I'd prefer it with Spotter on. Even at the lowest levels of racing there is generally some sort of radio contact with the crew.
What's Next? No HUD, No Relative, No Spotter... Monitor Off... Hmmm looking forward.

I don’t like it when more skilled drivers won’t qualify and start behind me. I’d rather it be entirely skill based/qualifying, so I don’t get disheartened by starting 11th with +16 iR, and finish 15th with -6 iR
that alterante layout really ruined my race! i'm so used to blast down that straight before the fast right hand corner, but i kept forgetting and kept crashing 🤦♂ 🤦♂

The bus stop should be implemented more often, mainly in GT3s.
Fair enough but I hope we don't see it too often. I know it was introduced purely for safety reasons (superbikes) but for me it ruins a classic element on an great all-time circuit. It ranks alongside the awful bus stop at Watkins Glen and the horrible final chicane at Spa as amongst the worst corners in all of racing.
Still, glad you enjoy it. That's what's good about sim racing - hopefully we all get a good bit of what we like most.

@@AbizW97 I’m running 5900x cpu and a 2080ti on a 3440x1440 ultra wide with everything pretty maxed out and never have problems. Triple 1440’s is a lot of pixels to push though
i think iracing should remove the spotter telling you car left and right for road courses and also the virtual mirror. One of the biggest difference to real life is how much more visability the virtual mirror at the top of the screen gives you in iracing compared to real life, especially in open wheelers.
