Matt priortise water and food storage first. Don't just start building farms and dams at the start in hard mode. You need to have stability for progression which is gain by not worrying about food and water needs for the long term by storing lot of them. Also start using large containers for water if you can as it is efficient or else you're an architect.

Explored land can be by you, or by directing the beavers to wander. If "you" die, game over, even in god mode... But you are age immortal, unless specified. Would you try this game Matt?

that spiral on hard mode is _mean!_ it takes like 2.5-3 days for the water to make it back down, but seems to only take 4/5 of a day when it stops
