Revisiting PAI in Northern Thailand and I Can't Believe It 🇹🇭

- For the past 12 years Pai in Northern Thailand has always been a place that I have loved coming to. However last time we were here with Dreamy, the place was very quiet and things seemed a tad depressing,
Covid had meant many of the street food vendors had left, hostels had become lost back to the forests, and normal Pai classic spots had ceased to exist.
Thankfully however things have picked back up and so today we make our way towards Pai to rediscover the town and see what's new.

Paddy..nothing to worry about..the squeak is the calipers piston and the back of the disc pads …just need to put some copper ease between the back of the pads so the metal to metal doesn’t squeak..it’s normal ..it’s nothing wrong with your brakes..always use the front brake ..not rear unless you need to stop in an emergency .
I was amazed some place Paddy Doyle has not been in Thailand. I love the laid-back lifestyle Pai. My friend Pat just moved there about two months ago. He is loving it. I was a bit disappointed you did not visit the waterfall. I am a waterfall dude. I want to walk the tight rope! Yum toasty buns. Great video like aways mate!

I nearly went to Pai, pre-covid, but it was the smokey burning season so people who had just been there told me not to bother. They said they couldn't see the mountains for the smoke. I was visiting Chiang Mai at the time. Oh well, another time. Looks like a nice place to chill out. A lot of familiar sights with shops, bars and street entertainment. I really enjoy kicking back and listening to the local musicians, sometimes sitting in if there's an extra guitar around. Anyway, thank you for the tour. Gotta love it!! Safe journeys.

It's so quiet! I love Pai I've been there many times. And for a sleepy village it's really great for parties. Or it used to be. I'm sure it will change this winter now that Thailand is open again.

What a great video! I was reminiscing about the lovely days we spent in Pai many years ago. There wasn’t much there at the time but it was still idyllic and easy to spend days doing nothing. We stayed at the end of town on the other side of the river. We had to cross a rickety bamboo bridge to get to our little bungalow. On our departure day we woke up after a night of heavy rain and found the little bridge has been washed away! We were stuck on the other side of the river and ended up missing our bus 😆 we had so much fun there and will definitely return one day 🙏

Long time listener, first time caller….
Brought back some great memories, I rode my push bike around Thailand for 6 weeks late 2019 / early 2000 and did around 2,500 kms including the Mae Hong Son loop (not easy on a push bike!) this part of Thailand is special. Also inspired by your Ha Giang experience, this is def on my bucket list. Happy travelling Paddy

I loved Pai i spent 4 days there 5yrs ago and rented a scooter for the time so i could go into the hills and see the elephants and discover hidden places. I liked the rasta reggae bar which was under a huge tent just over the bridge on the outskirts of town. Will go again some day 🙏

i just came back from pai. two hut cafe was worth to visit.since 20yrs ago i started to visit pai occasionaly,i had been dreaming that this particular view point would be developed as cafe or guesthouse. now dream came true finaly!

I went to Pai in 2005 and it was a nice traveler village. Like Khao San in the mountains, but quieter and relaxter.
I love riding that road. My brakes sound like that all the time, no worries. As for ‘real bikers’. It’s not the bike that makes a biker. It’s the journey, YOU are a real biker

That bike speed in the middle for 30 seconds scared me so much !! But Pai looks amazing i gotta go over here and Chaing Mai as well . Last time I could only do the south of Thailand ,this time I am gonna try to cover the north in 2 weeks Hopefully that's enough !!
Oh man, this place changed. I was there in the 90s, early 00s and it was such a quiet place. Very low key. Accommodation was very basic. I loved it there. Now it seems overcrowded. Things change. Especially between the 90s and now. It makes me nostalgic and a bit sad even. Back then you explored the area and waterfalls were just part of nature. Now they charge you a fee. It still is beautiful but not a Thai town anymore with a few backpackers.

Two huts beet us won ❤️❤️😀. Definitely getting to the age when those "lie about with a view" places are our thing. Hope that there'll be more craic at the crack soon 😭!
Mate we went there a few days ago. Massive storm and so many trees down on the road. Pretty stressful drive but once we got to Pai the weather was lovely. Nice to chill out there for a couple of days after the stress of term 1 at school.

I spent a couple of months in Pai just a few weeks after 9.11.01. Returned for about 18 months in 2008. Currently looking at moving to Koh Chang❤
