Greetings from South Texas young man. My wife and I enjoy your videos and have subscribed. We think your video skills have increased and hope your success follows suit. Onward to 150,000!
I was recently traveling by motorcycle in thailand for a month without any plan and your videos helped me a lot. now from the other side of the world (Colombia) I look at these images with nostalgia. Thank you very much for sharing and for that good energy.
I’m planning a trip to Vietnam for the second time and your Vietnam series has helped me a lot to plan my upcoming trip. When I see your input in places that I’ve already been there, I can see you don’t exaggerate like some RUclipsrs, you have common sense and tell the truth as is. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us.
Feel for you Paddy as I'll be doing your bike tour of Thai based on your videos end of this year - so you've been a great wealth of knowledge and incredibly entertaining! Informative, honest, funny and a great guide. Keep those videos coming!
The 7 second footage had me in stitches 😂 loved the glamping spot you ended up at, I bet that bubble bath felt good after the 8 hour hike the day before! Hope Zelda is feeling better now!
Hey Paddy. You really make me laugh sometimes!🤣 You really did panic over nothing! Firstly, Zelda has a disc brake on the rear, not a drum, as shown in your footage. Secondly, you should always use the front brake going down hill much more than the back brake (except on sand), so you could have continued quite safely using engine braking too. The driver was probably right and it just overheated, if you were only using the back brake all the time (or the hydraulic fluid is low or the line came off). Anyway, no doubt you will have learned a lot watching Zelda get fixed. However, always better to be safe than sorry, so you did the right thing as you weren't sure. Lovely drone shot of Doi Suthep at the end too! I can't wait to be back there in November, and hopefully Laos in December! Carry on..!
Please learn a few basic motorbike riding skills . Plenty of stuff on you tube! Riding a bike can be dangerous and even the most experienced riders have accidents
That’s what I was going to say. Supposed to use the front brake most and the rear brake is to help. Most bikes the front rotors are bigger than the rear.
You absolutely have the best videos on Thailand than anyone else on RUclips. Gosh I enjoy them so much. I'm moving to Thailand in February and I am so excited.
Ha! I actually loved the 7 second clips. 😅❤ I'm so happy to have your channel. We are watching all your videos in preparation for our trip to Thailand next year!
Although nothing major happened, I absolutely loved this episode. One of the best things about adventure is the unexpected, and finding hidden gems as a result. That accommodation looked fabulous! Glad you played it safe, Paddy. I also loved seeing you support your team. I support ManCity, but only because I am a massive Oasis fan.
The best video for whatever reason, its just a lovely video with a good feeling ,you manage to turn a problem into something really positive without actually trying. I guess its the Thai people that are just so warm and accommodating. lessons learn on the road, cheers mate, good on you .😅😊
Hey paddy, my dad loves your content so much it makes his day just so much brighter. My family is in Chang Mai at the moment and I would love for you to have a beer with my dad it would make his holiday so much better. Thanks paddy for your content making my dad happy. Please respond
Great video as a cyclist in northern Thailand the important part of this video is you are never far from help in northern Thailand. Of course if you need a taxi rescue you need to pay but I’ve been helped by friendly locals that we’re heading to the same location. “On my god I’m a famous blogger 55”
As a biker on heavy machinery, I'd rather hold myself back, regarding your back brake. But I do compliment you for another great episode. Keep goin' Mate.
the greatest stopping power on any motorcycle is found at the front wheel. ideally use both brakes and on very steep descents, of which there are loads in thailand, it is best to use as much engine compression as possible in low gears to control speed and thus prevent the brakes from overheating. If we only use the rear brake, there is a high probability that the liquid will overheat until it boils and there we will no longer have a brake. In the case of your Honda Dream, since it used a drum brake, which is a system without hydraulic fluid, that did not happen.
i just need to comment that i have watched alot of travel vlogs while researching for my future trip to paradise and yours is by far the best. Keep doing your thing, keep sharing the postiive and negative, incredible cinemagraphy and editing. I think your videos are worthy of the discovery channel
I get tired seeing these steps again. Hell of a climb but surely one of the most breathtaking locations of Thailand. Its a must for anyone visiting Northern Thailand. Those bells have such a relaxing vibe to them.
I’m so glad they you’re back in Thailand. I’m from Australia and I’ve been to Thailand a few times and my mum is from Udon and some of the fam is from near Yasothon some are from Korat. I can’t wait to to back up Thailand. I miss the joint so much mate
Ditch that false tank and use the very practical rack that is fitted underneath it for holding a basic tool kit. Even if you can't use it most Thais are pretty practical people and will help you out.
Wow, Paddy! First socialising and watching football with the locals in Lampang, getting the best KaoSoi I ever had, too, and showing the Sunday market, I loved so much, too, then taking us to one of the most incredibly awesome beautiful places of the world, sharing the wonder- and peaceful energy there and showing us the incredibly deep knowledge of the old monk. Then sharing the break\brakedown of Zelda, your muscles and your nerves, coming into one of the most beautiful "guesthouses" I ever saw, showing how the Thai help quickly, happily and efficiently: Paddy, I saw so many videos you made, but for me thats the best you ever did, it was amazing and I will watch it more times for sure. Thanks man, you are great. And greetz to Zelda. See you in Chiang Mai. Would love to be there again and have some Singha or Whisky with Water and Ice together, but cannot come over, sadly. So greetz from Munich to my sort if 2nd home in this world... 💝
Hey hey fantastic vdo as usual ✌️ love it. But dude, might start using the front break more often as I thought that’s the most effective one and should be used for 70% of all break actions?! 👍👍 2 thumbs up…keep on with that good stuff n keep exploring new horizons 👏🥰
To be fair it's good that this happened because it's an important learning experience. Most likley you overheated your back brake. I know it feels natural to gently press the back break the entire way down, but you can't do that. Very dangerous. Stay in a low gear and use engine breaking as your primary break going downhill, and only use front / back when needed. And never rely on your back brake as your primary, it's your weakest one.
Hi Paddy. I just found your channel as I follow travel and Motorcycles. You are a ding dong in the best possible way. Never change. Thanks for keeping it real.
I love Lampang! My time there was a highlight of my time in Thailand. And your legs when climbing...I was feeling the pain right with you. Ouch. But what a view at the end of that climb. The bath must have really helped...and laughing that everybody got to see you NAKED!
Paddy i have been a keen biker for 30+years and the main breaking effect is on your front 👍 just keep 1 or 2 fingers on the front lever and learn to opposite steer if you get out of control mate 👍 Always remember " you control the bike it shouldn't control you "
You are an absolute classic thank you for your honesty and the laughs. I do feel a bit sorry that you often don’t have some one to share the beauty though. Doing Northern Thailand next year xxx
I can relate to a lot of this, the ups and downs of travel! Thanks for keeping your videos real and not glossed over like many others. Loved the 7 second ending footage lol
I love Lampang, beautiful wooden buildings, clip clop clip clop, carriages and Lanna culture. Chae Son has magnificent waterfall and hot pools and spa.
At 81 years old, I have learned that the hardest lessons I experienced, & the most embarrassing lessons I had were always the ones in which I learned the most. From those times, I transferred concepts into other experiences to bolster my success on other problems completely unrelated. So, do not be too hard on yourself. We all live & learn. Enjoy the journey of life itself. And never be embarrassed of your mistakes but embrace them as though they are gentle nudges from the gods above to remind us, we are only human. BTW, I wish so much I could do what you are doing, so I am enjoying your videos so much. I really love your experiences. Be cautious and yet, still enjoy your journey. An Addendum: OMG!!! Your staying in an absolutely HEAVENLY resort with a gorgeous babbling brook to enjoy with beautiful greenery all around your DELUXE accommodating room with all the amenities as you're about to partake of a scrumptious burger with ample fries and a cold beer, and you get excited over a skinny stick bug? I love it.🥰😂🙂😍🍺🍔🍟 Well, now I'm just plain jealous.😄
Damn Paddy, now I have to change my schedule for Thailand in 2 months... I have to come to this place obviously 🙃🤣 Anyway, great video and have a nice time in Belgium and England ✌️
Front brake should be your primary. Hang in there Paddy. We all want you to succeed. I wish you were able to ride along with a more experienced rider. If I were in Thailand I'd love to join you.
Wow, I would have... myself in fear. Good thing you found people to help you. I checked the accomodation, because we are coming to Thailand next month, but jeeeez, 15.000 Baht? And then a miniburger on a paper plate? That was an even bigger scare. Thank you for the beautiful video despite all this. Really cool.
Oh Paddy I feel for you. I tried to visit the sky temple in August (unfortunately it was closed due to bad weather) and took them same route. I hired a car from Chiang Mai and it was pretty hairy to say the least going over that mountain road 😮 Just me and my two children, dodging boulders, landslides and driving through streams! Our highlight was the night market in Lampang, we were the only western faces there. It gave my kids an authentic look at local Thailand. Love your content. We explored many amazing place this summer after watching your channel for recommendations 😊
Loved the vibe watching the football. I see a Juve supporter sane as me . Zelda looks great 👍 .. Hopefully you got the Quad mount for your bike those cheap ones are crap 💩. Must be great being on the open road in Thailand 🇹🇭 Wow sky temple seen so many times and still so beautiful. You learn from this and it’s great the accomodation come and helped you .
experience is the best teacher!!!! No need to beat yourself up. No one is in their right mind when we panic. Our initial default to find a way out band get back to a safe place physically, mentally, and emotionally. Life is already hard enough. Keep going 🎉
Hey. You live and learn. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself regarding your decision. You used your best judgement at the time to be safe. All things considered it worked out well and this experience has made you more prepared for the future. Good on you for being real and sharing your learning process. We are currently in Chiang Mai for another month or so. Look forward to seeing what you have to share.
God bless you Paddy. You’re keeping it real bro’. The tough times make the special that much more special. On a related note: you want to match your cc’s with the weight of you and of what you’re carrying in pounds (not kg’s). If you’re 200 lbs wet and you have a 100 lbs of gear plus modifications then you shouldn’t be on anything under a 300 cc. And that’s for your safety rather for any other reason. Secondly, your front brake takes care of 70% of your stopping. So, use it mostly and use the back brake and the front brake in emergencies. Use the back brake only also on a steep downhill especially if the tarmac is wet.
Been watching since the beginning...although I haven't commented much...this was a great episode. I'm finally making it back to Thailand after a little over 2 years. Can't wait to be back...Mexico is just not the same
Hey Paddy , great video as always. I was at the Wolves v Newcastle game that you were watching, in sunny Wolverhampton. Looks like another must see Thai place to put on my list
Great video again paddy, you made me jealous again. We can see the amount of muscle pain you have by the amount of walking away from the camera shot's or the lack of them. Still massive respect you put in 1 or 2 this time seeing the hike from the last video 👌
Congrats Paddy on the CT125 what a great bike! I live in Chiang Rai and I'm looking forward to seeing your vlog to Laos. I am looking to do the same soon.
Paddy your videos are absolutely awesome. I get the feeling of travelling with you, especially with the ups and downs. I just discovered you a few weeks ago. Loved your Vietnam trip. Going back and watching your Thai provinces videos now. You're production quality has improved greatly. I have notifications turned on now! Sounds like you've figured the braking thing out but yes, the front brake needs to do the vast majority of your braking. It's the more powerful brake. The back brake is good for stability at slower speeds. Questions, do you see many larger bikes around? How do you think a big new adventure bike like a BMW R1250 GS would fair on SE Asian roads? Would it handle them? Do you think it would get a bit of attention of the wrong kind? (e.g. theft or Vietnamese police wanting to see a Vietnamese licence)
As it seems you have no answer so far and I just came across your comment. As working as an expatriate in Vietnam for 3 years so I guess I have a right to give you some information. Riding a big bike in Vietnam definitely you will gain lot of attention not only from the passersby but theft also. We had a showroom when I was working in HCMC and we put many nice pots of plants in front of our entrance door, every time when we lost them we bought new ones until one day my staffs stopped me from putting anything outside our property. LOL 🤣 I was so stubborn by keeping buying new ones, they said. Well, for Thailand, don't think you will gain much of attention driving a big bike but Lamborghini. And if you get robbed here, you are so much unlucky in my opinion but it does happen anyhow as bad people do exist everywhere on earth. I got robbed once when i was in HCMC exhibition center early morning when the entrance door was not yet opened. 😅 The road conditions in Vietnam is quite difficult so suggest not to ride a long journey each day though. Wish you luck!
@@danieljohn482 My pleasure! Singapore is also a good option then you can ride from Singapore to Malaysia, Thailand then Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. My colleagues in Singapore enjoy their big bike ride there also. Wish you a great journey! Want to take a vacation too myself. 😫
Ha ha ha...keeping it real at the end 😂😂😂 Amazing views from the sky temple and Lamphang looks very nice. You done the right thing with the bike because if you had an accident up there I dread to think what would have happened as it is so isolated. Love the glamping 😁👊
Well done, Paddy. It's becoming more like a TV show with every video. The GoPro bit was unintentionally fantastic - you should incorporate that more. And the glamping site was top notch. I'd hate to think someone might hack your computer someday and get all of the clipped footage of you getting in and out of the tub though. 😂
Paddy, the brake fluid boils and puts air into the fluid. you need someone to show you how to compress the rear piston on the caliper, this will push the fluid back to the reservoir then press the brake lever several times and probably fix it.. happens to us on dirt bikes. ask them to put in higher boil point fluid
Mate the brake just got too hot, with even a tiny bit of air or water in the brake fluid the pedal goes into nirvana. You can just let it cool down and continue. Get a mechanic to do a brake flush with brand new fluid from a sealed container
Yes, my first guess was over heated brake. Happened to me once, wearing new shoes, could not feel the pedal that well, rode the pedal for a kilometer or so & overheated the brake. Does not take much on those small bikes. Let it cool down & carry on.
Glad they finished off the temple upgrades finally. You’re back to where I met the guy flying his drone who is your fan. I wasn’t brave enough to fly my drone around.
Thanks Paddy for this very informative video. I think 250cc would make a lot of difference, however, perhaps then you would lose agility due to the extra weight.
Funniest video yet paddy. It’s only a comment Zelda might have looked good for traveling in the showroom , but you bought the wrong bike. I traveled all over Vietnam top to bottom , . Me and my daughter on the back with backpacks never had a problem on a 125 Yamaha nouveau 500 dollars in Hanoi sold it 2 months later in Ho Chi Minh, 350 dollars. Can’t beat the tried and tested twist and go. Keep smiling buddy 🙈😂👍
You shall use both break, some expert say front break 70% + rear break 30%. When you go down hill, lower down the gear -3-2-1 to get engine break as well, it help a lot.
Been a motorcycle instructor for 37 years. As many have said already, your front to rear stopping power is 70/30. As you brake, you get weight transfer to the front so the ratio can be 80/20 or more, if you are braking hard The ABS will prevent the front tire from locking. So you should be using both brakes, together, all the time. (Ok, sure, there will be limited times to use only the rear brake but that's too much for now.) You said you only use the front brake in an emergency. If you normally don't use it, you probably won't use it in an emergency. You don't have time to think in an emergency, you have to react and use your muscle memory. Your front brake will be your best friend in an emergency situation. Get out in an empty parking lot (if they have them there) and practice braking at speed and see how and when the ABS kicks in. Knowledge of how your bike perfomrs will build your confidence.
Buy DOT4+ brake fluid which has a boiling point of 300C and make sure you haven't got too much water in it (should be clear colour, your breaks should be nice and firm and not able to squeeze it too far past the initial resistance). Even easier you can get a little pen that you dip in and it will tell you. Try to avoid continuously pressing disk breaks, period off the break should be 3-5 times longer, or take some short breaks along the way down. If your bike has a drum break on the back you can use that too to alleviate some heat from the front disc.
Zelda and I have our first break down thanks for watching ♥️
Please can you mention prices of accommodation and food,, etc, 👍

😂😂😂😂 get yourself on a motorcycle repair course and maybe rider training. You should be using front brake a little more than the rear.

@Hùng Online VTB yeah... u mad
Honestly, that serene bath in nature at the end was the best part for me. That was definitely my vibe for sure
haha yeah it was a vibe for sure
You somehow take adversity and technological limitiations and turn them into some of the best quality video out there!

Can't wait to be back...Mexico is just not the same
What cool accommodation. A nightmare with the bike, glad someone came to your rescue
Glad you are safe. Is sometimes hard to look at all the angles when in the midst of an issue… like they say, hindsight is 20/20 lol.
@@chonlakarno.2471 Thank you for your reply! I thought as much. Sounds like Thailand might be the better option for shipping a bike over.
Well done I enjoyed the humour at the end
great cinematography love it
Ha ha ha...keeping it real at the end 😂😂😂 Amazing views from the sky temple and Lamphang looks very nice. You done the right thing with the bike because if you had an accident up there I dread to think what would have happened as it is so isolated. Love the glamping 😁👊
thanks mate ✌️
Very beautiful video. All the places and nature in this video is superb!
haha yeah that would be very embarrassing ❤️
😂Fantastic ending to the day! Could have been worse! ❤️🙏🏼Paddy 💞💋
Awesome!
8:16 OH. MY. GOD. !! Stunning! Astonishing!
Wow beautiful room. And that bath... Cathy and Kevs x
Great video as always! Cheers!!!🍻
That was quite unexpected but pleasant and interesting. That pit stop really salvaged that episode.
ขอให้ปลอดภัย เราเป็นห่วงคุณเสมอ ยินดีที่คุณกลับมาเมืองไทยอีก
Mate the brake just got too hot, with even a tiny bit of air or water in the brake fluid the pedal goes into nirvana. You can just let it cool down and continue. Get a mechanic to do a brake flush with brand new fluid from a sealed container
Yes, my first guess was over heated brake. Happened to me once, wearing new shoes, could not feel the pedal that well, rode the pedal for a kilometer or so & overheated the brake. Does not take much on those small bikes. Let it cool down & carry on.
Yep “ boiled “ the brake fluid
Loved the glamping place Paddy 👌 were going up the sky temple in December and can't wait 😀
Hope you enjoy it!
So glad to see you back in "THAI".
This is a good lost. The hostel room was amazing. Wait for the next video. Cheers...
Blimmy Paddy that was a winge fest I have watched most of your vlogs and this one is so wimpish.
That resort looked fantastic though .
Glad they finished off the temple upgrades finally. You’re back to where I met the guy flying his drone who is your fan. I wasn’t brave enough to fly my drone around.
It's an amazing achievement in itself you did 77 provinces on dreamy just on the back brake.!
Great video 👍😊👍.
Thanks Paddy for this very informative video. I think 250cc would make a lot of difference, however, perhaps then you would lose agility due to the extra weight.
Hey Paddy
Great video, sorry to hear Zelda is having some teething problems.
Hey, thanks ❤️
Funniest video yet paddy. It’s only a comment Zelda might have looked good for traveling in the showroom , but you bought the wrong bike. I traveled all over Vietnam top to bottom , . Me and my daughter on the back with backpacks never had a problem on a 125 Yamaha nouveau 500 dollars in Hanoi sold it 2 months later in Ho Chi Minh, 350 dollars. Can’t beat the tried and tested twist and go. Keep smiling buddy 🙈😂👍
Love seeing you chill in youre Newcastle top . If a had a place to send it . Ide send you a lovely CELTIC FC TOP. Thanks again brill vlog
Lol, don't sweat it PD, like you said, experience comes through learning, rather safe than sorry, it is of course your "NEW BABY" !! xx
Some beautiful spots you captured, wow! Not sure Zelda had a breakdown ... rider error ; )
That Glamping place was really nice, Paddy! Don't worry about your nakedness, be happy! Woohoo!
I have visited Lam pang many years ago and still missing it always..
👍 Paddy, you are always so Positive, you Deserve a Medal. The day after climbing 8 Hours. GOOD LUCK, Greetings from Holland. 🙏
