I was surprised that it was stated tabernacle was not used in English translations. I grew up (now 66) in the Baptist denomination using the KJV and use NKJV currently on my iPad which includes the word tabernacle (New Testament and Old Testament) I remember being taught about the Israel’s tabernacle around late preteen early teenage years.
Because KJV uses the best manuscripts. All other translations use the catholic manuscripts which leave verses out completely or just the meaning. How could anyone justify leaving entire verses out of the Bible?
Good for you. The NKJ is the most accurate translation from the Greek. Pick up a Greek/ English interlinear, or look it up online. It's a great way to compare modern text.
NKJV is the one I use because it is similar to the KJV, which I grew up with, and has about the same readability level as the NLT. The NLT is more like the paraphrase it was modeled on.
The Westminster Divines themselves stated that, due to the fluidity of language, their version would need to be updated. After all, the Sermon on the Mount was not delivered in Elizabethan English! 😊
Having studied the Greek i believe that the NKJ is the best version, using a Greek/ English interlinear for comparison is the best way to dig into the text for comparison.
I believe the Kings James version is a perfectly fine version. There may be a few errors in the translation from Greek and Hebrew. The spirit will aid you where you need.
When we read through the Old Testament and the New Testament, God did not command His words to be scaled down for readability nor did He inspire anyone to write a version more 'suitable' for kids. Before the young ones would themselves hear the same words the adults hear, they were taught at home using those same words. God chose those words for His reason, and any translation or version should be as close in accuracy to its original meaning. If our young ones can process a thick volume of Harry Potter, do we expect less for God's Book? How do students of English literature handle the text, by reading the original or a more simplified version? The same applies to all teaching manual, whether of medicine, physics, mechanics, computer science, etc. God's word has its profundity and nuances and mystery, but it takes discipline, heart and perseverance to comprehend it, sort of like going into a relationship, one with the greatest Person in this universe.
The Bible was not written by God, it was written by man who immediately rewrote it and who continues to rewrite it to this day ... to serve their particular purpose. There are over 450 English versions of this book spread around the world and 10's of thousands differing Church interpretations. Heck, the Protestant Bible has 66 books, the Catholics have 73, and the Orthodox have 81. Unfortunately, the various Christian factions, whether they be big or be small, have fractured the religion to a point of no return.
One?! How about sixteen? Will that work? Simple Google search 16 omitted verses from NIV. Matthew 17:21. Matthew 18:11. Matthew 23:14. Mark 7:16. Mark 9:44 and 9:46. Mark 11:26. Mark 15:28. Luke 17:36.
The reason those verses are left out is because they arent in the original manuscripts. Modern translations are more accurate and not beholden to the stipulations of a monarch.

Very very selective verses they decided to leave completely out of the Bible which are in the textus receptus manuscripts. It's actually every other version except for the KJV that uses the catholic manuscripts that removed verses.
No we cant trust the bible. He said we shall do the same kind of things that He did and bigger. Heal the sick cast out demons... And we shall recive the Holy Spirit but there is no help no power to heal the sick... Yes we get the salvation but the Power of the Holy Spirit is very much gone ! So now God has not been faithul just litle bit here and there.

KJV uses textus receptus. Every other version uses westcott and hort. Look up those two men you'll understand why they left verses out of the Bible.

After seminary, I did the same and found I prefer the NASB. The ESV fails miserably in this regard. Just my opinion.
